When house hunting in Beeston with our son we stopped off at "Bean" for coffee's and cake to keep us going through the morning. Due to the Covid restrictions it was take-away only and Bean had managed this very well to protect their staff and customers.A very tempting selection of cakes and great coffee. We had 2 cakes, 2 lattes and a mocha and the cost was circa £14. With our son putting an offer in on a house that same afternoon, which was accepted, it seems we will be back to enjoy Bean on a more regular basis!

Been taking coffee at The Bean since it opened over 20 years ago. It was the best then and is the best now. The coffee is perfectly prepared and consistently excellent. And just try The Reuben for a lunch sandwich, way ahead of the standard coffee bar fare of pre-prepared paninis. Long may it continue!

Very noisy when you sat next to the counter. Big echo around it. It is much better to sit upstairs. Compared to a few coffee shops (costa, Cafe Nero and Metro) it is not as comfortable. Sadly, I would say it is my least favourite in Beeston. Food and coffee is okay. Cake is alright (I do bake and have a cooking qualification other than my full time. Thanks but no thanks.

Passed this cafe many times over the years and today Saturday 14th Dec 2019 decided to give it a try. Was busy but managed to get a seat ok. lots of choice and price wise was good. You order at bar and pay and it is brought to your table. Coffee was very nice but not very large mug considering we did order large. Staff were very friendly.Only downside was dogs on tjhe premises which i dont like when eating or drinking.

I came here for a coffee with a friend and was disappointed by the very slow service. Almost 20 minutes to get our drinks (and they ran out of ingredients for a smoothie which they told us around 15 minutes after ordering). It was busy but not so busy to warrant such a wait time. The cafe was very cramped with a table near the stairs where I was continuously knocked into. The mocha I had was tasty but cold by the time it arrived and more chocolate than coffee. With so many cafes in Beeston you would expect higher quality considering the competition. Won’t be visiting again.

We have been here a few times recently because it’s so freelancer friendly! Staff are always friendly and lovely, and they have oat milk and soya milk for hot and cold drinks. I always have an iced oat latte. They also do nice smoothies. There are several power points in the window with stools and a table for working and looking out onto the road. But the upstairs space is the best for working. Several tables and chairs but also a large workbench with power points and stools and the most beautiful rainbow slatted wood wall behind it. There is also an outside space to work if you have power but it tends to be very busy and packed with families so isn’t ideal. Would recommend for the nice coffee and dairy free milk options and the excellent laptop friendly vibe

The Bean serves the best coffee in Beeston. The town is packed with chain coffee stores but once you try the drinks from The Bean it'll become your new go-to for a silky smooth espresso.I first went to The Bean on a Saturday and was a little overwhelmed by how busy it was. I chose to have my drink to take out as there is not much space in the downstairs area of the store. The drink was great and they have a whole choice of alternative milks for those who don't drink dairy.I went back during the week a few days later and grabbed a seat upstairs where it tends to be a lot quieter as it is where students and others sit to do work. There is an abundance of outlets to plug in your laptop and the atmosphere is great if you just want to get your head down and do some studying.I recommend The Bean for anyone who considers themselves a coffee connoisseur, though they have a great selection of teas, smoothies and soft drinks also. In the summer, their cold drinks are superb and there is a large outdoor space off the high street in Beeston so it is not as loud or as crammed as those in other cafes in the area.

Having recently spend serveral months off and on in Spain and being used to excellent coffee it has been difficult to find something of the same quality here in Nottingham. Bean however produces an excellent cup of coffee. You can actually taste the coffee rather than just a pint of warm frothy milk. The cakes are all to die for and the service is excellent. All the staff have a very friendly manner and the place is clearly popular as it seems to have a lot of ‘regulars’. I for one will be one of them from now on.

As mentioned in previous posts I've always felt that independent coffee shops offer something that chain shops cannot. Whatever it is, I can't put my finger on it however Bean most certainly has it! Situated in a peaceful location in between the high street and Sainsbury's shoppers; Bean offers an idealistic place for a coffee. Regarding service I had no issue whatsoever being offered a milk alternative which was welcoming for a vegan! The coffee beans boasted a rich flavoursome taste which was devoured momentarily. No doubt whatsoever Bean is certainly the best place in Beeston to go for good quality coffee! As well as coffee, Bean also offer a widespread of cakes and other sweet treats to supplement with an already perfect coffee. All round, Bean is an essential part of Beeston's heritage and would be heavily missed.

Rave reviews? Possibly, but maybe the reviewers had a different barista to the miserable individual we happened to interact with. Arriving at 17:44 were literally barred from entering by the barista (a dark-haired American or Canadian girl)stating "We're closing". Not for another 15 minutes surely, I asked. The barista said nothing, then repeated, "we're closing". To be fair the place was empty and the barista had probably cleaned out the espresso machine in order to get a quick get away at 6pm, but in this day and age can a coffee house really afford to be turning customers away / turning money down just because they can't be bothered to grind a few beans? It's actually unprofessional and I hope the owner gets to read this review and takes appropriate steps to ensure this particularly rude individual doesn't close prematurely or turn away good custom again.

Visited The Bean for a second time after persuading my husband to return. He was not very keen as a female barista was rude to him previously about his caffeine intolerance. He informed him very curtly that all coffee even decaffeinated had an amount of caffeine in it. We are well aware of this and have done our research. He can tolerate the small amount that remains in the decaffeinated variety. However even a small residue that may be left behind from normal coffee can affect him if the dispenser is not thoroughly rinsed out. However this visit was amazing. It was very late in the day and 2 young gentleman were serving. Both very extremely courteous and his decaff coffee was good and my mocha was awesome. After frequenting this coffee stop since the day it first opened and opting for a locally owned and run business over the chain options I will now be changing this approach. After visiting this week my loyalty card was rejected, "sorry we have changed them and that's not in use anymore". This has to be the only coffe shop I have ever used that has time based loyalty, very annoying when your card is full and it's you free coffee this time!"Ok I will have a filter coffee please". Sorry its run out you can wait while we make a new pot. This may all seem petty but when two things that should aim the please your customer actually frustrate them then something's wrong. It's a lovely coffee bar but I have always struggled with the service experience they provide and the way items have often run out. After today's issues I have decided its Nero from now on, where the service is friendly, the coffee and food fully stocked and your loyalty does not expire.

Over the past months I have noticed that standards have dropped alarmingly and whilst previously you could be sure of a consistently good coffee and pastry whenever you visited - now it is very hit and miss. The place is very cold in the winter months (has the heating system broken?) and I have noticed that the shop is often dirty and grubby and that the food (pastries and croissants) have recently been undercooked. I have also noted a number of regular customers having to send coffee's back due to milk not being properly heated through. The Bean used to be the best place for coffee that I knew - what a pity that it has gone so far downhill!

Used The Bean on and off since it opened, loved the refurbishment, but I often wonder as a coffee shop owner myself whether the owner understands how much business he loses in the morning on food. 9.30 this morning; no pastries, toast, bagels, panatone. Available items were goats cheese and caramalised onion toastie and a range of Panini's, 3 orange chocolate muffins and slices of cake. Would anyone eat these at 9.30, several people in front asked what options there were and staff offered a biscotti or some sad looking flapjacks. Not one person settled for anything else, purchasing drinks only, including myself and my friend. By 11 am after a further coffee, no pastries were made or restocked. I heard another table of 3 ask for croissants, something for breakfast possibly, again they purchased only drinks. The majority of people don't go to the Bean for a full English but I've never heard of a coffee shop that can only offer a biscotti in the morning. The staff's reply to these three ladies were that they had been extremely busy, everything had sold out. I'm sure I would be ecstatic if I sold out of all of my food by 9.30, however, after 2 hours I never saw any food sold. In a competitive market, on a struggling high street, I'm sure if the staff were the business owners they might have decided to get some breakfast items available quite sharpish. How does a days takings increase when stock isn't replenished, I wonder. A real shame, lovely staff, pleasant, great coffee, would more than likely go elsewhere next time, if food wasn't on the menu. Would worry if I was the business owner.

I've been in here a few times. The first time was with my Mum, and I had a cake (which one escapes me) which was tasty. The second time, it was pouring it down with rain outside, and the staff let me eat my Sainsbury's salad bowl in the cafe, so of course I bought a cake to go with it! And then a few weeks ago I had a panini and a flapjack for my lunch, both of which were very good! All I can fault this place on is the lack of extensive choice of food and soft drinks.

I have been going here for years, actually ever since it opened. Staff very friendly and they know their real coffee. Food is good but i have recently turned vegan and although you have soya milk ( which is great), there is now nothing i can eat. When i was veggie it was fine. Could you possibly supply panini's etc for vegans and vegan cake please? The screaming carrot in forest fields bake their own lovely vegan cakes and supply to tea/coffee shops such as Lee rosys in hockley.

The Bean is on my doorstep and today, after another lovely flat white soya I realised that I take it for granted and so, in the spirit of goodwill and all that guff I decided to write a mini review.Firstly, the coffee is really and consistently good and their flat white soya is probably one of the best I have ever had. I know soya milk is every baristas nightmare order. The staff seem genuinely interested and knowledgable about coffee and take a pride in their product. The service is excellent and on the one occasion when part of my order was late and I chased it up, they gave me a token for a free coffee. In the summer I witnessed an obnoxious man who was in my view completely out of order, treated with more respect than he ever deserved as the member of staff and others there knew he was swinging the lead. Downstairs is quite small but is always buzzing. Upstairs is quieter. They usually have lots of chairs outside in the summer if the weather is ok during other times. Overall a really nice experience and great coffee. Pannini good and free Wifi too!

Hands-down, this is the best coffee I've had in Nottingham. None of the chains compare to the quality of the coffee, let alone the friendly service. I've been here so many times that they know my standard drink order. It has been a great place to meet with friends both upstairs and also outside, and it has also served as an inviting place to get lots of reading done when I've been on my own. The free Wi-Fi is an especially nice touch considering so many places still want to charge you. You really can't go wrong with The Bean.

If you love coffee, looking for a nice coffee shop in Nottingham, The Bean coffee shop in Beeston is the best place for you! Cosy and friendly atmosphere and the great taste of espresso, the Bean is always my first choice of local coffee. You must try 'iced latte' for this summer!

Hands down the best cafe in Nottingham. Terrific coffee, great cakes and very friendly staff. Beeston isn't short of cafes, but this is head and shoulders above the rest.

Bean was recommended to me by a friend as serving the best coffee in Beeston. While I've not tried all of the other shops I can recommend Bean as serving very nice coffee in a cosy atmosphere. The address is correct but the map accomanying the listing was wrong when I wrote this; it's not near Padge Road; it's by Sainsbury's!

This busy independent coffee shop is one of Beeston's gems. The superb coffee is served by cheerful staff. The food on offer is a little average but otherwise you cannot fault the Bean for a mid morning pick me up.The outside sitting is great when it's better weather because you will probably struggle to get a seat inside.

My favourite coffee shop in the Notts area. Great value, products and service. Wifi and outdoor seating are fab. Only downside is the upstairs, as the seating area occasionally smells due to the proximity of the toilets.

The coffee here is fabulous and the staff are really knowledgeable about the stuff they sell. They do sell other drinks and really nice paninis, wraps and cakes. One of the few places I've been where there's iced water to help yourself to-great if you like your coffee really strong and like a water chaser. There's outside seating and the staff are very friendly and efficient

Great coffee, great hot chocolate, friendly staff and they have regular special offers which are seriously tempting as you pass to go to the Dr's, let me tell you.It was also the first place I ever noticed that had WiFi - before I even knew what WiFi was or why you'd want to have it.

A lot of new coffee shops have opened in Beeston in the past few years and I have tried them all. No wonder that 'The Bean' espresso bar is the most successful and always full of customers. There is too much poor coffee around and I am sick, to be honest, of paying a lot of money for a cup of watery, hot milk that barely tastes of coffee at all. This would never happen in 'The Bean'. Their coffee is strong and flavoursome. No matter if your are sitting in the cafe or you are getting a takaway coffee their staff is always friendly and cheerful. If you are in need of a coffee in Beeston then this is the place to go!
