Nice staff but had run out of most of their food ingredients.

Oh dear. Probably the worse Sunday lunch we have ever had. By the way, this place use to be amazing however they have sold the business. I ordered the beef which was more like chewing a Michelin tyre. I asked for no gravy yet the meat was covered in it. The mash was lumpy and the roast potatoes were from Iceland. Terrible.

We visited THE BAY HORSE with my family for Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and my partner said the beer was good. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. My daughter is non dairy and told the waitress when she ordered her lunch . When her meal came it included Yorkshire pudding and very sloppy mash she asked the waitress to double check that it was all non dairy, when it came back it had the mash and Yorkshire removed. This is very poor, food allergy’s can be lethal and anywhere serving food should be very allergy aware. You should never have to ask twice !. I have to add they apologised and didn’t charge for her meal but it’s serious error that shouldn’t happen. My partner ordered turkey but he said it tasted more like thin cut pork. The vegetables were all over cooked apart from the very very well done roast potatoes. . The only deserts on offer were two pieces of cheesecake or ice cream as everything else on the menu had sold out, not sure when we appeared to be the first table in that day. . All in all a very poor over priced Sunday lunch. The place needs a real shake up and a good clean!. The pub itself is very quirky and full of character and has so much potential it’s a real shame the rest lets it down.

Very poor Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and welcoming but the meat was overcooked and tough. My sister is dairy free and asked for dairy free roast which came with a Yorkshire pudding!! You shouldn't have to ask twice as far as allergies go.

Stopped off here for some grub and refreshments after a winter walk and we all loved the intimate, old-world atmosphere. Good choice of ales and while the food was relatively basic it was just the ticket. There are a couple of cosy eating rooms and the bar area has a couple of roaring fires which were very welcoming.

Friendly landlords, food homely and delicious, pub has lots of charm, cosy and wonderful kerb appeal. Another local landlord at the end of the bar enjoying a chill and natter showing a super community spirit.

Lovely old eclectic pub in Nice North Yorks village. We had been on a long walk and stumbled across this boozer by chance. Loved the open fires and old charm feeling. We'll defo be back to try the food!

A brilliant, quirky, cosy English country pub. Superb ales, superb food with hearty portions, and friendly, fun staff. It's quite remote, away from main roads, but deserves to get a strong regular clientele, as well as tourists visiting Malton and the Yorkshire Wolds.

My first visit, and very much hope the first of many. Being a Monday night, you're never sure what to expect. But, I needn't have worried. A wonderfully cosy and welcoming pub, with roaring log fires, what I'd call a "proper pub menu", as well as 'specials' and EIGHT, we'll kept, local real ales available ! Louisa, Ryan and their team greeted and treated me as though I were a regular local. I opted for the Gammon & Egg option, which was an absolute blinder !! The young chef in the kitchen was even working on his 18th birthday - what a star ! Would 100% recommend this place, especially if you've been walking the Dale's, or simply want to experience a well-run, welcoming, proper pub !

Food is zero as we got there a bit late, kitchen was closing. The location and the beer were excellent. Love the oldie world interior. I'm looking forward to going back for food.

Lovely pub now open 7 days a week! Fab beer and a perfect open fire. Cosy place and we’re very welcoming to me and my family including my one year old daughter.

What a shame ...... used to be a great pub with amazing food but seems Luca and family have sold out. New staff looked stoned and I'd certainly not eat there now!! Oh dear, won't be going again

After a walk in the Moors we found this cozy pub on our way home. The pub is very welcoming with a great interior. The food quality was excellent and good value. The roasted veg could’ve been done a little better, some pieces were too burnt. But otherwise very generous portions and comfort food. Servers were all new so it was a little slow but they were all very friendly. The bill also was not itemised which we would’ve liked. But it seems like they have a new management who are still ironing out some things and we will definitely be visiting again! Strongly recommend for anyone with a big appetite after some hiking.

Agree entirely with all other great reviews - this is my favourite pub, lovely food, great atmosphere, good staff, fires lit, candles everywhere, so many clever touches. Excellent range of local ales & speciality Italian wines. We enjoyed superb rib-eye steaks on enormous boards followed by delicious tiramisu.

Beautifully flavoured food, served by welcoming staff in the quaint and unique surroundings of a very special, East Riding country pub.

Phoned the day before to book a lunchtime table. Very welcoming when we arrived. Had a good corner table for the two of us and the two dogs we have. Good choice of set menu and a board full of specials. Good range of beers and a guest ale as well. We had a chicken dish and the seafood special of the day.

If you like good beer and quality food..... Then you'll love this place. It's a hidden gem!

Loved the place itself, great old fashioned pub, we sat in a cosy corner next to the fire. Food was fairly average and quite expensive though. The 4 cheese ravioli wasn't anything special, it just tasted like supermarket pasta and I didn't really like the tiramisu, but the steak and chips were nice.

Very quaint, people very friendly. Great choice of beers at reasonable prices. Worth a visit.

Just come back to our campsite after having a lovely evening at the Bay Horse Inn. The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly very efficient and polite. Great job from Luca and all your staff.

The food and hospitality is very good here. Italian chef so pastas are superb. We all had steak served with homemade chips.

All I will say is WOW.. What a great pub.. Fantastic!

Went for a Sunday lunch. Had booked a table in advance. Waited just over an hour for our food. Roast dinner had huge portions but pasta dish was cold before could finish eating it. Pub has lovely decor and staff are welcoming but is the sort of place that an afternoon will be spent having a meal.

Lovely pub, i got a table next to the fireplace, i loved it, food and staff is great. I had a rib eye steak which was really nice and the tiramisù that came with a small chocolate filled cannolo. The place is perfect for a relaxing dinner or just for a few beers!

We were looking for a nice pub for dinner on a Tuesday in February Half Term and we came across The Bay Horse on the usual Google trawl. Reviews looked good although we initially scoffed at James from London who proclaimed it was the best pub he’d ever been to…. However, he might just be right! The ambience was great, the decor quirky and thoughtfully done, and the welcome and service from Luca was warm, genuinely friendly and just the right level of attentive. Then onto the food - a mix of authentic Italian (two different pasta dishes from the main menu were demolished by our children; pollo prosciutto which was tender and tasty) and restaurant standard grill (a perfectly cooked rib-eye). Portions were generous but we just had room to fit in some tasty desserts. It was all washed down with local Yorkshire ales. Cheap? No. Good value for great food. Definitely. Just about perfection!

The bay horse in burythorpe is a wonderful pub. The food is fantastic and the staff and landlord are friendly and helpful. Sunday roasts are fantastic really great place.

Lovely village pub / restaurant. Cosy, country feel, log fires and old world charm. Nice selection of beers including beers from the sister pub / micro- brewery in Market Weighton. Blown away by the food - mostly italian, small selection but tasty and well presented . Definitely a must visit if in the area.

If your looking for a great old English country pub , (not a plastic refit) with good food , a good range a beers , pleasant and attentive staff I would recommend this pub. Went for a Sunday roast and weren't disappointed, Reasonably priced , with good helpings of freshly cooked veg, well seasoned variety of roasts. Would highly advise booking, the only negative is the car park if full you can safely park on the road.

I’m from London and this is the best pub I’ve ever been to. Beautiful decorations and lovely ambience with an open fire. It’s owned by a very friendly Italian bloke who cooks sensational authentic food and has a very good selection of ales including their own brew which was great. His hospitality was second to none and even let us take a group photo behind the bar. Will be back again next time I’m ‘up North’ for sure. 10/10 would recommend!!!

This place is a hidden gem! It's so cosy and the owner is so welcoming. Plus the food is a great mix of Italian and traditional British pub food, there's something for everyone! Highly, highly recommend paying a visit.

Excellent pub food and real ales! Great ambience with log fires , candles and stone floors - a gem and one of my favourite pubs !!

All the other 5 star reviews of this place are true so I won't bother repeating what has already been well said about the food, the service the ambiance etc - all excellent. My one small criticism is the portion size - it's far too large. We had 14 people for lunch there and the amount of food wasted was awful (only two teenage boys finished their plates) - huge portions of fish and meat, masses of fresh vegetables all went to waste. People simply couldn't eat the amount of food - and yet it was all beautifully cooked and delicious. I think it would be far better to have moderate portion sizes and then say to diners, "If you'd like more of anything, just ask!" That would make people feel even more welcome and the hungry/greedy ones can be satisfied and everyone else can dine sensibly and not feel ashamed that more than half their plates were going to waste. It's an excellent place. Go.

We met some friends and had a most enjoyable lunch. It's a bit out of the way, but worth it and the drive was lovely. There was a warm welcome and atmosphere. Super waitress. The menu had a good selection and the food was delicious. The profiteroles are to die for. We are taking the family next time.

A extraordinary country pub with amazing character and food. Cannot go wrong wether a Sunday lunch or a midweek meal night. The menu is not extensive but does draw from its Italian owners tastes and offers a vegi alternative. However what it lacks in options it more than makes up for in quality of both ingredients and preparation. Would recommend to anyone in god's own country.

Was visiting Yorkshire for the weekend and was advised to go here by our host but also book before hand We was not disappointed! Great food, lovely atmosphere lovely hosts would 100% recommend to anyone in the area

One of the best pub meals we have ever had the food was well presented and piping hot and the bar staff were very polite even the chef came and ask us if all was okay he helped us choose our table wine all in all a very enjoyable evening

Incredible food with matching hospitality! We would definitely recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in the area! From walking in we were made to feel so welcome! Given our choice of where to sit and drinks arrived promptly. The food choice was perfect for a place this size, not too many options, but the perfect size to give everyone something they would enjoy! And then the food arrived! Truly incredible food! The rigatoni made to Nonna's recipe was heavenly! The meatballs melted in your mouth and were flavoured perfectly. The catch of the day was swordfish and was equally Divine! Plus the portions were massive! We both managed to finish them off though and after a break we tried a dessert each - the banoffee cake and profiteroles - and they carried on the high standards from the first course! Luca who ran front of house was hilarious and super friendly, as were all the other staff working, and the chef was amazingly talented too! 11/10 - definitely go here if you're in the area!!

What a great pub.We eat here when staying locally. The choice of beers is amazing, superb real ale served perfectly.Having spent years working in the brewing industry I can vouch for the quality. The food was really good.We had four different meals all tasty and hot.Portion size was brilliant.Price great value. Do go you will love it.

Excellent meal and very good service. Very full plates too! We were late arriving because of traffic - I rang up to let them know - so that wasn't a problem. The ambience in the pub was lovely. Highly recommend.

Food and drink is excellent. They have a range of real ales on draught. Prepared to be fed the gammon steak is amazing and is very well cooked. For four people with a pint of house lager, two pints of real ale and a pint of cider, a beautiful meal each and two large jugs of fresh piping hot filter coffee it was only £78. The staff are amazing and very friendly. They also cater for special diets. We have booked again for Thursday

Last minute change of plans and we managed to get a table here. Made really welcome by staff. Great olde world atmosphere at Bay Horse and the food was excellent and beautifully presented. Definitely recommend ....🤘👏

A fantastic quirky country pub. Lovely setting with chic decor . Outside space is also extremely well presented. Staff friendly and attentive. Food is fantastic 😋 The Sunday roasts are cooked to perfection and very generous portions.Seafood and fish dishes are scrummy and the Ragu Bellisimo" Couldnt ask for a better place to go for lunch or supper or just for a Pint of lovely ale.

We had dinner there last night. My husband's steak was the best he has ever eaten; likewise my pasta dish. All the ingredients were cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and efficient. The Bay Horse is a lovely characterful old inn, with tankards, old photographs and agricultural artefacts as well as settles and an open fire. All of this creates a great atmosphere. The Porter is to be recommended. Burythorpe is fortunate in having such a fine pub.
