A fabulous traditional pub in the centre of Catterick village. A lovely warm welcome from Julie and her team, and great, freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. Stopped off for lunch on our way from Leeds to Newcastle. Highly recommended.

Stopped for drinks and lunch at this friendly, welcoming pub in the pretty village of Catterick. The food was tasty, well prepared and excellent value for money.

We love the Bay Horse - very friendly staff, great selection of drinks and excellent food. Child and pet friendly which is a massive bonus for us. Jules, Jackie, Rachel and all the team always make us feel welcome.

Went to the Bayhorse for the Halloween Fancy Dress Party.It was an amazing night .The Atmosphere was so good with everyone that turned up from the Village and afar.Well done to our Landlady Jules and Staff who were outstanding .I have also had many meals in the Bayhorse which i can verify were always very good .Love our Local Pub and look forward to many more good times there .

What a great country pub, with a cozy ambiance and very welcoming. We had a meal for 8 people and the food arrived at the same time and we could not fault it, hot and tasty on all accounts. We held my friends baby shower in the function room and Jules and the team were amazing in making sure we had access to the room early to decorate and ensuring everyone had a brilliant time. Jules is a fantastic landlady and an asset to the Bay horse! Don’t hesitate to pop in or hold an event here and visit this gem of a pub and lovely team!

We have just stayed in Catterick for a week and this local pub really enhanced our stay. We ate here 3 times, one lunch and two dinners which speaks for itself. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced, all the staff were really welcoming. Genuinely dog friendly as well. Every village should have a pub like this 😊

Went to the Bayhorse to celebrate my daughters birthday with family and friends. We were seated in an area that was comfortable and the pub was busy and the atmosphere was a very happy one. We all had starters which were all presented nicely and the food was lovely. The main meals were served to us and I couldn't fault anything, all very tasty, hot and presented well. All plates were empty. I will definitely recommend eating here. The staff were helpful and very friendly, they were on the go all the time because it was very busy. I will eat here again and look forward to my next visit. Its also nice to see a dog friendly pub, there were a few dogs around and they were all well behaved.

Decided to stay for a meal after a couple of drinks with friends. The (large) ranch burger was the dish of choice for us all, and we were not disappointed!It was served promptly with well cooked fries and sauces. The burger(s) were quite large, meaty and cooked to perfection.The chef, Malies, and the landlady Sharon were attentive to ensure all was well, as were the other staff.Excellent meal, service, prices, as were the bar prices too - will be visiting again!!

I treated my family to dinner out this year, as my daughter and grandkids were visiting. We've used the Bay Horse a few times for evening meals, so knew already the food would be good. They catered for a pescaterian, and 2 children under 10 in our party of 8.Yes, they were busy, but it gave us chance to chat and savour each course. All the food was very well cooked, well presented and generously portioned. All the staff were polite and friendly in spite of the stress of the day, bar service was quick, and drink prices very reasonable.We all left very happy, with full bellies, and I thought it was very reasonably priced, considering other pubs were asking almost twice the price for Christmas dinner. Many thanks to all the staff for taking some of the stress out of our day.

Took my family for Christmas dinner in the bay horse and im so glad I did. Food was brilliant and service was fantastic all courses served with a smile even though it was busy and what I imagine would have been a stressful day for the staff. Maybe 15 mins between courses but was glad to have a little break between. Top marks to everyone member of staff you made our Christmas that bit easier. Thank you.

Having eaten in Bayhorse before Sunday lunch and also bar food we decided we would go for Christmas lunch, unfortunately we wish we hadn't. Turkey was moist but potatoes and veg awful and gravy like dish water. Service was very slow we waited and hour between first course and main and actually asked what was going on before being served and again had long wait for pudding, unfortunately we had had enough by then and left not having coffee.Severe lack of staff for occasion causing far too long waiting time for service and same at bar.Such a shame as lovely staff and pub but maybe bit off more than they can chew.For £80 for 2 people this related to very poor value for money and we would not recommend the Bay Horse for Christmas lunch.

Our Keep Fit Ladies have just had a lovely meal at The Bay Horse, had a variety of meals, all of which were tasty and well presented. A warm welcome from the new landlady and her staff, we all left feeling very happy with what we had had. Liked the idea that the eating area was up a few stairs and gave you some privacy from the bar area and felt more like a restaurant. Just had a review what I think where the best fish and chips I ever had ! The fish was cooked to perfection with light crispy batter and succulent fish together with great chips it was brilliant Marlies’s cooking was excellent this pub is quickly getting a good reputation for food and it’s well deserved .

I am an avid burger eater, whenever I travel I aim to find the best burgers out there. The bbq ranch burger I had was definitely in the top 5 burgers I’ve come across to date, would recommend this pub for the food and friendly environment!

Decided to visit the pub due to it being closed previously. Has now reopened. However ordered a glass of white wine which was for fish and chips and obviously put in the wrong bottle. Lack of glasses, to which the owner made excuses. Surely if you were to have an opening day you would make sure everything was correct. The landlady was more interested speaking to friends at the bar than serving customers. The same old seating outside with bird excrement on it and worn loose boards. Not a good first impression to a newly reopened pub.

As this is our local pub we decided to have a midweek treat.The meal and service was outstanding, Marlies always makes you feel very welcome and the steaks we had were cooked to perfection.

We have been coming here the last couple of months since moving to the area and the pub is definitely the hub of the community and has made us feel very welcome.

After reading very good reviews about The Bay Horse, my wife and I decided to call in for lunch at the weekend. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed, it was not what we expected! Our first concern was that it was 'cash only' - not very 21st century! Fortunately, we had enough cash between us which meant that we didn't have to make an embarrassing exit. The bar staff seemed very inexperienced and disorganized - not knowing the prices of drinks or how to operate the till and incapable of changing the barrel when the cider ran out whilst pouring one of our drinks! We ordered lunch and although our meals were okay they were nothing above the ordinary and lacked imagination and originality. My cottage pie was very plain and when the menu said it was served with vegetables I expected more than a few peas and carrots!! Regrettably, a group of of 8 people (4 couples) came in and sat at a large table next to us and completely ruined our lunch. They were extremely loud and constantly swore using the 'f' word and numerous others. We felt very embarrassed and somewhat intimidated. The staff were aware of their flourish and unacceptable behaviour but did nothing about it which we found very disappointing and disheartening. In the end we were desperate to get out of the place as fast as possible and will not be making a return visit! This is a shame because I'm sure it has some positive qualities.
