The Bank Restaurant in Gwynedd

We booked a table in advance and it was expected to be slightly high end kind of restaurant. The service was exceptionally good and welcomed. The food price wasn't over the top but portion of foods could be dainty. The lamb rump with a bed of leek cheese sauce was a little like a messy presentation but cheesy and somehow is slightly too salty than my liking. Asparagus peas ricotta vegetarian lagsane was yummy, the fried courgettes were nice to eat. Dessert bread and butter pudding in whiskey custard sauce was really dainty and crispy bread. How I wish the whiskey sauce could be more generous than it was. Thank you for the great table service and complimented foccacia bread and olive oil. Hopefully next time we there again can try other dishes. I was hopeful to get another bottle local beer but colder and more heads than the one I had.

We had a brilliant night, the food was very nice. The service was very good too. When we return to Barmouth this will be on our list, again! Hope we get table 6 next to 9. It was fun! All staff were perfect.

This restaurant is something special. The food was fresh and cooked too a very high standard. Good balance of fish/meat and vegetarian meals. The waitress were very friendly and high lighted dishes to try Price also good, not cheap and not over the top.

Whenever we are in the area we always try to manage dinner at The Bank, but today for no reason other than we knew we would have an amazing lunch and superb service we didn’t mind a two hour drive, and thats exactly what we had , well worth it thank you , Happy Mothers Day 🥰

This is the place to go for really beautiful food for a special occasion. Two of our party have food intolerances and we ordered in advance though I have eaten there without advance warning. They are always very careful and there is plenty to choose from.

Good atmosphere, good food, good drink, good service. Been here before and will probably come back again when visiting Barmouth.

Lovely food, lively restaurant… it’s a dreary February night but The Bank is full. Our food was delicious- the steak exceptionally well cooked. And the dessert platter was gorgeous.

Staying in Barmouth for a few months while house hunting. It's early in the year so lots of places are closed and the standard is generally poor but then I found The Bank! Valentine's menu - the venue was decorated with hints to match but I didn't feel out of place as a solo old man. What a menu though! Fantastic food, beautifully presented. Charming, friendly service. Such a refreshing find. Hard to believe this is Barmouth.

The food was OK but no more than that. I may be very much mistaken but the food that I ate appeared to have been frozen and thawed out, my shoetbread tasted stale. The decor, venue and services lacked the finesse that I would expect for the prices charge.

Superb menu, service & food. Even though it I was the only customer they made me feel very welcome. The croquettes while browsing were excellent and the duo of beef stunning.

Poor experience at the Bank Barmouth. Starter was a chowder. It had one piece of prawn in it , disappointing but tasty enough. Main course of steak ( no sauces available to go with it) expensive and the pollenta chips were not to my taste....

The food was very poor. The so called rump of lamb was in fact two thin slices of lamb covered in uncooked white fat which was so hard that the steak knife just could not cut the fat off. The only option was to set the rump to one side and eat the vegetables. Not great.

My wife and I had dinner here and it was excellent . The menu was great, just enough choice and we could have eaten the lot. We shared an amuse bouche ham croquettes, then had a terrine and Waldorf salad starters. Mains were duet of beef and cod on Mediterranean beans with tomatoes and chorizo sauce. We shared a coconut rice pudding. It was all excellent, service was great and there was a really good and reasonably priced wine list too. We have been going to Barmouth for years and we can’t quite figure out why we haven’t been here before, we will definitely be back soon. Highly recommended!

This is the second year running that we have eaten at The Bank in Barmouth during our annual golfing trip to Harlech, Aberdovey and Conwy. Eating at The Bank has become one of the highlights of our trip!

This restaurant is an absolute gem. They know their food. Run with efficient and friendly service on the old bank floor with a lovely atmosphere. Arrived a little early and was asked to wait with the offer of drinks, lovely made G&T. Sat on time, menu short but still had a lovely variety. Specials were perfect. Facaccia and olive oil served. We ordered both specials, the Seafood Bisque and cheese scone was exceptional. We shared a whole lobster with the best ever polenta chips. It came hot in garlic with a julienne salad. We finished with an expresso martini. The restaurant was full, and the floor was run by two of the hardest working people I've seen. You can tell it's independent, and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you, and we'll done!
