Excellent food , friendly and relaxed.

Came here for an evening meal. Needed somewhere dog friendly. Not only friendly to us but friendly to our dog aswell. Food was really good and extremely reasonably priced. Definitely recommend

Lovely pub. Nice, relaxed environment for a pleasant lunch. The Ploughman's was delicious.

Didn't eat it was very expensive. The pub is basically a bar with wooden tables very basic furniture, and fhe decor is very dated. The whole place needs refurbishment...£7.50 for soup and a roll. £15 to £16 for burgers , 8oz rump £18.50 , 12oz rib eye £24.50 I can eat at the best restaurants in bham, for less , and they have fine furniture with table clothes, and modern fine decor. If they halved the prices at the banc it would still be to much.

A group of us came here for food on Saturday evening. We have a child who has a dairy intolerance and i have a dairy and egg intolerance and we let the lovely lady who was serving us know and the chefs were excellent with how they dealt with it and how they could cater for us and the whole experience was nice and smooth. It can be a nightmare trying to eat food out when you still eat meat but need to avoid main ingredients like dairy and eggs as it’s in most dishes, so I would just like to say a big thank you and we will be back again!

Came to this pub as we were looking for somewhere for a Sunday lunch, and this was one of the best roast dinners I’ve had! Absolutely loved it, and the lady behind the bar was super attentive towards us. Thanks for a great meal!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. Everything was cooked to perfection and the portion size was perfect for two hungry hikers. We would have stayed longer if the pub was a little warmer.

Sunday roast everything was pretty tasteless .the food took over an hour to arrive after ordering and the restaurant was full of locals with their dogs.not what I was expecting at all after reading other reviews.

Steak pie was possibly the best I've ever tasted. Only 4 stars as the service was very slow and the table was sticking.

As a familybof 9 adults and 3 children ( all small under 3) we have had an amazing time. I am dairy free and I was so well catered for, anything could be adapted for me nothing was too much trouble. We had to order our meals in advance but that was fine. The food was wonderful, well cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you so much for excellent service and making us all feel so welcome.

Me and my partner ate here on Sunday, a lovely selection of fresh vegetables, well cooked meats, crispy potatoes and delicious gravy. Good idea to have the option of 'half and half'. My only criticism, not sure the radio station playing in the background suited the setting

Staff very welcoming, polite, and friendly. I had the steak, and my husband had the Lasagne. Both came with lovely hand-cut chips. I could not fault the food, it was all good. Interesting/quirky decor. Dogs are welcomed.

We have just visited the Banc for Sunday roast, table of 7 adults and 3 small children. The staff could not have been more accommodating - nothing was too much trouble, they were so professional and friendly. I cook a banging roast at home and it’s rare to go out for a blinking good roast but the Banc did just that. The gravy was something special!!!! Compliments to the chef for all the food (I’d like your crumble recipe) and all the waiters and bar staff at the Banc.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, we were lucky to find they had a cancellation and could fit us in, large portions of great food.

Excellent private room pub was full but a little expensive but excellent food and drink our own waiter was perfect very patient and attentive nice atmosphere parking nearby

Went for a family meal, was very good. Just a few things to note, we went on a steak night which we didn't realise and they only do the steak/burger menu, unfortunately as I don't like steak or brioche buns I was left with very little choice, would be better to have a bun choice as then I could have had a burger, but the fish and chips were very nice, all food very good. Only other thing we struggled with was tables/chairs close together, people directly behind us cause sobe of us struggling to hear our table conversation and the chairs were against the raised part meaning is was very difficult to get out, the table and chairs need moving away from the step.

Staff lovely,food excellent,catered to a group of 6 in the old bank vault and we had the best time. Staff had already had an extremely busy day with hen dos and other groups but they remained smiling and attentive. My birthdag cake got ruined in our car journey and they even offered to reice it for us which was such a sweet offer. Best place to celebrate my 30th very impressed thank you so much x

Good atmosphere and a good selection of reasonably priced beverages.

We had an extremely good lunch here for our Christmas end of year meet. The choice and quality of food was superb and matched by attentive but not intrusive service. We enjoyed a bit of exclusivity in The Vault as well which was lovely. The mulled wine was a delicious treat too! Thanks Team Banc, we shall be back.

My partner and I ate here for the first time yesterday. His meal was acceptable, however mine was pretty disgusting. Not wishing to upset our lunch date I didn’t complain. Warm chicken pieces, pesto and mozzarella on two toasted slices of white bread, limp and soggy rocket and warm hard overcooked chips. Not as I’d pictured it, and tasted awful.

Came across the banc when house hunting in Knighton , staff very friendly and attentive. We felt very welcome and comfortable. The food was superb . Can’t fault a thing . This will definitely be a local for us !

After thinking about not putting a review on here I have decided that i will and I'll explain why I've given 3 stars for my families lunchtime visit today. We felt very welcome on arrival and sat and ordered food. Meals arrived and they were all looked to be of a pretty good standard or so we thought. My sons burger meal looked alright but being polite he managed most of his meal before announcing that half of his burger was burnt. Upon inspection of what he had left was very charred and well over done. We did point this out to the lady that collected the plates but at no point did she apologise, what she did say was that we could give it to the dog!(it wasn't even fit for the dog to eat). We did not want to make a fuss so just ordered coffee and carried on. Upon paying for the meal I did mention the overcooked burger to the gentleman who did apologise which was good of him. Hopefully it was a little hiccup in the kitchen as I mentioned the rest of the food and coffee that we had at the table was good. So please don't be put off going there, I would still visit it again if I am ever in the area again.

Loved this place the food is of excellent quality all home made we was made really welcome and the service and politeness was outstanding so much so we returned the following night to try something else off the menu if you are in the area you have to try this place you will not go home hungry or disappointed

Staying near by on a short break and came across this place driving past, decided to pop in and see if we can get some food me and my wife had excellent rib eye steak and a very good kids meal for our toddler , really friendly atmosphere and great food. Pleased we stopped in .

Myself and my partner spent the weekend away for a few days close by to Knighton. We visited The Banc for food on our first night... what can I say... not only did they provide us with transport from our accommodation as we were unable to source transport but they also provided a great atmosphere alongside super delicious food! So very welcoming and really made our time away.. we visited again on the Sunday for a roast and was blown away by the quality of the food and service! Cannot recommend enough! Thank you Craig and also to the very talented chef! Made our time away!

We visited Knighton this weekend and ate here. There was confusion with our booking but a member of staff named Craig sorted it out for us and was great. Guinness and cider was perfect. I ordered ribeye, cooked rare, when it arrived it was fr from rare, but it was the best steak I’ve tasted so far…and we dine out once or twice a week! Highly recommended to all staying in Knighton

Went as a group of 11 for Sunday lunch having pre booked the private dining area (the old bank vault). From the second we walked in the manager Craig and his team couldn't have been friendlier or more professional. I had been in touch beforehand to arrange meals for my kids as they have food allergies and all of this was taken care of and they also had in dairy free ice cream which my son was chuffed to bits with.The roast beef and pork were cooked perfectly as were all the accompanying side dishes, and both the goats cheese tart and scampi starters were delicious.A few of the group had puddings and every plate went back clean so I'm assuming everyone enjoyed them as well :).Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a quality roast.Cheers Craig and team.

We visited here today as a group of 6 and our baby son. We had a slight confusion with our booking but the man who was serving us, Craig, quickly dealt with it and was really helpful. The food was fantastic and the service was great even though they were obviously busy. If we’re ever back in Knighton we’ll definitely go back, and we recommend it to everybody

We visited this restaurant after reading the excellent reviews and were not disappointed!!! The lamb burger was the best my husband has ever had and my ham eggs and chips was delicious too. We had a rhubarb and custard cheesecake to share which topped it all off brilliantly ! This was a delicious meal that was not too expensive-we recommend a visit to Banc .

Best steak I've ever had. Dog friendly, lovely service. Thinking of going back tomorrow! Edit: I did go back the next day! Highly recommend the hazelnut ice-cream too!

This is the second time we have had lunch at the Banc and thought it was good again I had to say something. The atmosphere is pleasant and the barman very jolly, helpful and attentive, couldn’t ask for better service. Had a light lunch which was well presented, hot and different. All up if you are looking for a good lunch The Banc in Knighton is well worth a visit.

We popped into the Banc today for lunch by chance, without any plans or expectations and enjoyed a delicious lunch with an excellent service. 5 stars from us. Thanks 👍

We are staying locally for a couples get away and thought we would pop out for dinner. It is some of the best food we have ever eaten! We managed to park outside and were seated, despite not having a reservation. We started with leak and potato soup which was perfectly seasoned, really flavourful and creamy. We both then had the beef burger which tasted so juicy and fresh, the fries and coleslaw were delicious and tasted homemade. We both felt so full but couldn't turn down dessert, my partner had cheese cake and I had the parfait. Both had a wonderful mix of flavours and we left feeling stuffed! Our server was so lovely and attentive but in no way overbearing or bothersome and helped us book for the next night when we look forward to trying the steaks! She told us the meat for the burgers and steaks came from the butchers right across the road.Can't wait to return! Even more so after we recieved the bill and the total was about 50% of what we had budgeted.Brilliant chef, lovely staff, amazingly priced.

Our party of 6 visited The Banc while staying just outside of Knighton for a hen party weekend. We were seated in the old vault which was a lovely and unique experience in itself, and also allowed us some privacy. The service we received was excellent, the staff were professional and took extra special care with our vast range of weird and wonderful dietary requests. The food was truly exceptional, cooked to perfection and greatly complimented by the range of wines and gins. It was also very reasonably priced for the high standards. Despite this establishment being 3 hours from my home, I will absolutely visit again and would highly recommend to people visiting the area who are looking for some great food in an even better atmosphere. I can’t thank the staff enough for making it so memorable and I’ll hopefully see you all again soon.

Recently visited The banc with my patents for a pre Christmas Meal. Fabulous food, all very well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend.

Eat here as The Castle at Knucklas doesn't do food on the night I stayed. What a great experience lovely building, great staff and a lovely supper, steak and ale pie yumm. Can't faulty it, will be back next time I'm in Knighton

2nd time eating here and the food is always so so good. Service is excellent really friendly and super efficient. Despite being stuffed we decided to share their sticky toffee pudding with homemade hazelnut ice cream for dessert and it was unbelievable! Great find...we will be back.

Spot on! Came with a works do on a Monday. Limited menu but it was definitely quality not quantity. Cannot fault anything. Drinks were great, good was fantastic. Highly recommend.

We are staying close by and thought we’d try this on our first night. On a Monday it’s steak and fish night. Seriously, this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Steak cooked to perfection and all the sides were gorgeous. The port and Stilton sauce was particularly amazing. The venue is lovely and quirky with different tables and chairs and local art up. The guy behind the bar who served us too was just really pleasant too. I can see why this is #1 in the Knighton area. As my title says - PERFECT!

Delicious meals, lovely flavours. Lamb burger - really hit the spot! Children meals gobbled up and all happy and well fed. Desserts a treat too, presented well and simply put, this place is a gem of a find! If you like good tasty food this is for you, they take delight in serving you too.

Fantastic steak, and a really great pint of peroni, popped in twice during a short break in knighton, highly recommend.

Went here on a Monday evening which was their steak & fish night & had the best steak we’ve had in a long , long, time. My husband had treacle tart & homemade hazelnut ice cream for dessert & he’s still raving about how good it was now! Originally an old bank it had loads of character & a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere . We were staying 4 miles down the road in Bucknell, Shropshire & this was a great find only wish we’d discovered it earlier so we had time to go again & try their full menu. Great service & very reasonably priced, would highly recommend.

It’s the last night of our few days away in Knighton and we just popped out for a quick beer, but ended up staying for dinner … We had fish and chips and beef burger. Both served piping hot, without much of a wait and very tasty. It was followed by triple chocolate cheesecake, which was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thank you to Craig, who provided table service all evening. Much appreciated.

Such a lovely pub, everyone was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived including the locals. They made us feel right at home and our dogs too.We checked out the area on TripAdvisor as I am Vegetarian with a milk allergy, The Banc came out on top with great Vegan friendly reviews. My partner had the ham croquettes for a starter and lamb burger for his main both he thoroughly enjoyed, I just had a main of a vegetarian burger which they made sure was milk free for me. It was fantastic, it had great flavours and the fries were yummy. My partner had several real ales and I enjoyed a scrumptious whisky.Both our dogs enjoyed the attention from the staff and regulars.The lovely chap serving has great customer service skills, he made sure we were looked after the whole time. No complaints from us we enjoyed it so much. If you're in Knighton it's a must place to go for a meal.

Smashing place. Lovely space and interior. Owner friendly and attentive. We had our dogs with us and they were welcome. Beer was cracking and the slow cooked ham croquettes were delicious as was the mushroom burger and lamb burger. Would recommend.

We ate here in August when doing a v short stretch of Offa’s Dyke. Food was superb - best steak and chips ever with meat from local butcher over the road. We called in there the next day for supplies for the rest of our holiday. Fabulous desert and great choice of wine. Cannot recommend more highly!

Six of us recently stayed just outside Knighton and were looking for somewhere to meet up for lunch, before we arrived at our accommodation. Having read The Banc reviews we booked in advance and could not have been more pleased. The owner, Craig, has created a local pub atmosphere with an excellent ambience. There was a good choice of food on the menu and it was well presented and delicious. We all thought it was a great experience and so booked Sunday lunch and again we were impressed. Craig, his chef and all the members of his team are doing a great job. Best Sticky Toffee Pudding ever. We wish it was our local

We visited the banc throughout the week of our stay ,very welcoming bar staff the locals were very friendly. Nina one of the bar staff especially stood out with her gregarious and sparkly and bubbly personality, she made us feel very at home. We will definitely be back to see Nina.

Ate twice whilst visiting area. Highly reccommend especially the Sunday lunch. Great value for money. Good atmosphere, nothing to much trouble. Would definately visit again thank you.

Great pub but doesn't serve food

The banc catered for our Nanna’s wake following her funeral in Shrewsbury. We were really looked after! Lovely outside space, comfy inside too, fantastic spread of food and we tried the evening menu for dinner. We could play our own music playlist, they put up a poster that a local resident bought in, thanks for being so caring, helpful, and supportive, you made a difficult day easier for the family

Food here was great - the scampi and the steak were lovely and so was the pudding - raspberry and prosecco pannacotta.

Simply. This is the best eatery in Knighton. The Bank conversion is unique itself with the opportunity to sit and drink in the safe. Great service, not over-bearing and really tasty food. Good menu selection. As there aren’t many in Knighton this slightly unique refined place stands out hence the 5 stars.

Visited today for a Sunday Roast and it was amazing. Fresh vegetables, beautiful succulent beef and fabulous Yorkshire puddings, we all really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. Would definitely recommend and we would return again.
