The Ballroom at Amalfi White in South Derbyshire

We were invited to a friends surprise birthday party and fell in love with the beautiful ballroom and it’s stunning chandeliers. The service was excellent and the party couldn’t have gone better.

Had my daughter wedding here and all I can say is outstanding and Emma is a gem nothing is to much trouble for the lady. Great team great service.

I must share our ‘experience’ at Amalfi White. It would not be unfair to say we were robbed. £35 a head for a buffet I wouldn’t give away. Shocking quality, dreadful service & we were informed it’s not their ‘policy’ to give refunds. A friend who is very ill in hospital had to cancel but Amalfi still charged her - to be fair, she got the best deal of all of us - at least she didn’t have to go. Whatever you do, think long & hard before visiting this place. They don’t care about their customers, informed us they could not cater for food allergy sufferers & ran out of chips. Why on earth they would take our money in this way is beyond me - does your reputation mean NOTHING to you Amalfi White? Avoid.

Christmas party night at Amalfi Whites, sounds perfect doesn’t it? Good food, cocktails and surroundings........Wrong! £35 for a welcome cocktail a couple of cocktails and soggy pizza and fries - poor service and despite complaining on the night a no refund policy is in place. If you’re booked in and haven’t paid in full I would advise you not to bother you will be bitterly disappointed!!! Avoid...obviously if you like soggy pizza you’ll have a great time!

Would you pay £35 for some soggy pizza and chips ? Well I did. But the good news is the chips ran out (as did most of the pizza) within 5 minutes so I didn’t get any anyway. They did replenish the pizza (not the chip) after half an hour but by that time people had just given up. Some samples were handed round by staff who chose who to stop at and mine as the vegan option was a shot glass of soup. Yum. Remember this is a Christmas buffet! Pizza and chips? Terrible service and once again this place proves it’s all candles and decor and terrible judgement and service. I’ve been here now 5 times with friends who book it and all but one times it’s been terrible. Whoever is managing this place - get rid and hire someone with their finger on the pulse - not just keen on design.

The purpose of the visit was a Sunday lunch Christening celebration. Lovely venue and we were served a very tasty 2 course meal. Stunning chandeliers adorn the room hence this would make a great wedding venue (quite a few light bulbs out though!). Would love to try the restaurant when next in the area.

I held a surprise party for my husband at Amalfi White it was fab!! The ball room was perfect location for a party or wedding or any event. Emma was the perfect person to help me organise it, nothing was to much trouble 😀 The food was amazing everyone commented on it and the venue. The staff also couldn’t do enough to make the event run smoothly. I would recommend this lovely venue its manager and staff to anyone looking to host an event. Thanks so much for helping us make my husbands 50 th the best it could be. Nikki x

Personally, I haven't used the upstairs of Amalfi White but I have only received good feedback, so I am looking forward to the first time that I do get to experience it. Try it if you get a chance!

Visited this venue for a friend's evening wedding reception. It is a lovely space. The buffet was amazing and all staff friendly and attentive.

Met up with some mates here to catch up and chill out with a couple beers and some good food.Its a lovely place. The staff are warm friendly lovely people. The service is great. The pizzas we all decided on getting were awesome! You can actually see the guy making them in an authentic pizza oven if you want. It was great. I would defo like to pop back again.

We recently had our wedding at Amalfi White and it was incredible. From the initial planning stage, Kat was fantastic. She listened to exactly what we wanted and helped us to achieve our perfect wedding. Then on the day Kat and the team ensured that everything went smoothly. We had 65 guests during the day and we have received so many compliments on how amazing the food was as well as the general look of the place. Many have said that after tasting our wedding food, they will be returning to the restaurant. Although the white bar may appear small, it was well staffed and our guests were extremely happy with how little time it took to be served. I can't express enough how well the staff looked after my wife and I. For us the day was perfect from start to finish. The ballroom is a beautiful setting to hold a wedding and we would recommend it to anyone.

We attended a family wedding here on the 17th February 2017 Nice venue but nothing special.the reason I am writing this review is because of the ripoff prices they are charging for drinks at the bars. For example a bottle or prosecco and a pint of larger I was charged £34 ,glass of house red wine which was more like vinegar cost £8per glass,I know there has to be a mark up on drinks but is was totally over the top ,400% mark up on drinks is to say the least is ripoff.There are many different wedding venues in the surrounding area who don't charge extortionate prices.this place greatly exceeds the bounds of reason.Be warned

Great welcome by the staff very attentive,food amazing,menu excellent choices,my girlfriends birthday so the chef made her a dessert and personalised it,very nice touch....

Always plenty of room and lovely food and drinks to choose from .Its pizzas are especially good but it does have a wide range of choices.

We held our wedding at Amalfi White on 23/06/16 and had a wonderful day. The venue is stunning, the staff are excellent and the food was absolutely delicious, not your average wedding food. Everything ran like clock work from beginning to end and I cannot thank the staff enough for our stunning wedding. Would like to make a special mention to Kat who was our wedding planner and worked extremely hard to make our day perfect, Kat was great through the whole planning process and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Would highly recommend this venue - wish we could do it all again!!

Our Son and new beautiful daughter in law chose Amalfi White to host their wedding , ceremony ,reception & evening reception ,which may I say was an amazing choice . From start to finish the fabulous Kat has been a joy to deal with . So professional , organised & filled them , and us , with confidence for their big day . The day was wonderful ( the weather helped ! ) but the welcome their guests received on arrival was super .the grand ballroom was breathtaking and set up was beautiful ( just go to see the chandeliers !) canapés & reception on the terrace was super ( canapés just kept coming ) staff were extremely obliging , smiling ,smart ,chatty but most of all professional . Back to the re- set ballroom for lunch , the wedding set up looked beautiful with nice linen ,cutlery , and had been done perfectly to our wedding couple's wish .We had chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce with fresh vegetables ) hot & tasty ......which is difficult catering for a large number of guests all at the same time . Desert was a fantastic warm brownie ...perfect . Staff , especially Kat , were so obliging nothing was too much trouble , I would thoroughly recommend this venue to any couple wanting to tie the knot ...it's a real treasure hidden away in this quaint little village ..nice for a couple wanting to get "out of town " for their special day as there is plenty of B&B & a couple of good hotels local to this venue for their guests .

Mi hijo y ahora nuevo nuera nos casamos en este lugar. Guau, qué hermoso lugar. El personal era perfecto, la comida era 10 de 10. Kat fue genial durante todo el evento y todo salió al plan. Incluso el día después (recogiendo la boda presenta), el personal era muy acogedor y servicial de nuevo. Confía en mí, un lugar tan agradable.

Have heard rave reviews about this place so thought I'd come and see what the fuss was about. On first impressions the interior decoration is good and atmosphere was welcoming. We ordered food from what looked like an impressive menu, the food came out and it was nice enough, but very basic, and not quite hot enough.Generally it was okay, but I think we expected a little more.

We are here at the weekend and have to say the place is lovely. The staff were good and whilst the food wasn't brilliant given the price it was nice enough. Drinks were expensive. Overall a good experience.

What a meal! From entering and being escorted to the White bar for pre dinner drinks, to checking out the Ballroom itself. From starters to deserts, this was a wonderful meal and a first class dining experience. The service is excellent, the food is sublime, (I was driving but I'm assured that the wine is excellent too) the room itself is beautiful, just top drawer from start to finish. Highly, highly recommended.

Wow.....Met at the entrance & shown upstairs for a drink before seated at table. Everything about the evening was a true treat from the room, waitresses & the fine food. Will most certainly be returning & have already booked in for Christmas!!! A picture paints a thousand words......

Amalfi White has a fantastic reputation for fine food and great decor. The beer garden out back is fantastic for families and a lazy day with friends.

I decided to take my father for his 60th birthday to the Amalfi White this weekend just passed and i was not disappointed. Upon recommendation of a friend we booked into the ballroom to experience the fine dining the venue is becoming claimed for. The building itself is something you don't expect. A small door make you feel you're about to enter a secret venue, but the glamorous ballroom with it's high ceilings make you feel you're in for a great experience. The food was excellent. I live and work in Manchester and eat out a lot in high end establishments, and i let that this rivalled any dinning experience I've been fortunate to try. The menu is well thought out, the presentation superb and the food itself was unbelievable. It is definitely a place I would recommend anyone try as there is nothing like it in the area. We will be back.

The Ballroom is a fantastic setting and a great place to dine in a relaxed atmosphere unlike the hustle & bustle of some places these days where the tables are too close together and you can't hear the conversation on your own table. We enjoyed relaxing and having a drink in The White Bar before taking our seats in The Ballroom with its grand chandeliers and elegant curtains. The food is some of the best I have had in Derbyshire and the starter of Soy Glazed Pig Cheek did not disappoint, the meat was so tender it melted in the mouth and the Pork Popcorn was fantastic. For the main I had the Lamb cannon which was superb, and the crispy Lamb cutlet that accompanied it was a very pleasant surprise. Dessert was just as impressive, though I must admit I opted for the Panna cotta purely because it was served with Rhubarb, and I tell you,there are very few places that can can do this vegetable such justice as the head chef here has done. Our friends were also very impressed, one had had the Pan fried Turbot and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Aubergine and Feta Tortellini. I finished the night with an Irish coffee, which in comparison to previous ones I've had the pleasure of sampling over the years, was exquisite. It's not often we can honestly say that we've been somewhere new and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish, and even though it's been ticked off on our 'places to go' list, it's stopping on there.....

Had a fantastic meal at the Amalfi White ballroom. Food and surroundings exceptional. Service very good.

We came for a Saturday night fine dining experience and WOW, that's what we got. Amazing food and service throughout, we couldn't fault it. Awards on the arisen i'm sure. We will definitely be back. Thanks to all the team.

Came here expecting 5 star dining food was good but not what I was expecting for the price. Service was good in nice surroundings. Will go back for special occasions.

We had the reception for our daughter and son in law here and we cannot be more pleased. The ballroom is beautiful with easy lift access and facilities for the older members of a family party. The food was of excellent quality and well presented and earned so many good comments. It can be a little hit and miss when catering for a large party but not so in this case. Kat and her team ensured that the night ran smoothly with plenty of staff to serve the meal and to tend the bar.It really is a place to consider when planning a family celebration or wedding.

Very glamorous new restaurant. Exceptional service and the food - sensational. Took a little while to be seated but while waiting we were seated in the lovely upstairs bar having champagne and cocktails. We were then taken to the Ballroom which was lit with candles and very cool music playing. Our waitress was friendly and unobtrusive and knew her wines very well. We ordered a selection of starters.... The pork and lamb main dishes were phenomenally good. Special mention must be made of the desserts - the lemon meringue was almost too pretty to eat. All in all a lovely night, we will definitely return.

Had a stunning 3 course meal in the ballroom last night and I can't fault it. All the dishes were plated with perfection. I had the lamb for my main dish and it was gorgeous. Such a great fine dining experience with lovely food, friendly staff and a beautiful ambience.

We have eaten in the brasserie many times but for my birthday we booked a table of 6 for fine dining in the ballroom. The whole experience was excellent, service spot on, each course was beautifully presented and the wine and cocktails were superb. Nothing like it in the area, well done definitely rosette worthy if not a star in the making

This place has got to be one of my favourites in Derby, I have visited the brasserie a few times and the food has always been superior to some of the other European/Italian restaurants nearby. When they opened up the Ballroom upstairs, I thought it would be a perfect venue for a date night as we enjoyed the food and cocktails so why not experience it in an unprecedented setting. The first time I entered the ballroom I was amazed at how stunning it looked, the chandeliers are the main event and although it is quite spacious, it still feels nice and intimate and quaint. I also visited on mothers day and was very impressed by the afternoon tea and service, looks different in the day so nice to experience it on different occasions.

Went here this week with the girlfriend as a romantic "date night" and wow.. we've been downstairs for food before which is great but this was unbelievable.. the chandeleirs and decor set a great ombiance, the food is out of this world and the chef ( matt i think his name was) obviously cares about presentation as well as taste, we asked for him to come out to thank him and tip him personally for a great meal.. staff were brilliant and couldnt do wnough for us And friendly.. will deffo be returning and would highly recommend sampling the place. 5*****
