What a gem this place is! I couldn't believe that the restaurant wasn't full of locals. The hotel side is delightful. The rooms are super clean and well presented. The mattress in Room 1 could do with replacing but I'm not going to knock the score. The restaurant - for both evening meal and breakfast - is exceptional. It's abundantly clear that every ingredient has been so carefully chosen (the ribeye steak is absolutely worth the price tag!) and everything is then so carefully cooked. Nothing is spared a careful attention to detail, even the bread basket with supper and the toast basket in the morning carries a range of high quality bread types. If you're passing through: stay here. If you live in the area, dine here!

We love dinner in The Bakery. It’s a real treat. Such a lovely village restaurant. Just booked for Christmas Eve and so looking forward to it. Always great food and a wonderful place to get the family together!

We stayed overnight in a lovely room with a private outside sitting area. The room was very clean, the facilities as good as I was expecting. We also ate at the restaurant, which I highly recommend. The selection on the menu was ideal - difficult to choose as there were quite a few I would have liked. We went for the sharing steak and enjoyed every mouthful. The service was friendly and knowledgeable about each aspect of the menu. We couldn't fault any of the entire experience, and the breakfast the following morning was perfect.

Unfortunately it wasn't the cleanest place we've been to, the sheets had a stale smell and the restaurant and Bar area really smells of Dogs or something and the floor was filthy!! Wouldn't stay there again. Disappointed..

Had one of the nicest Sunday lunches we have had for a very long time ...lovely atmosphere and friendly staff thoroughly recommend.

We stayed here last night for a wedding reception. The rooms are lovely and clean, they have a fridge with water and juice in the hallway where you can help yourself. Staff really friendly and welcoming, nice little bar. We had a really good full English breakfast this morning. Room price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this place & would definitely go back.

Excellent from Booking with Booking.com, communication about our arrival was superb, negotiating our trip, thankfully we arrived earlier than expected and there was no issue. Welcomed by owners and other staff. Impeccably clean, Room, soft furnishings and bathroom luxurious, I could tell no expense spared re curtains and bedding. Only 10 minutes away from Biggin Hill, where we were booked to fly a spitfire. Food was wonderful, tasty and hot, both breakfast and late afternoon snack. Very much recommended

The thing I love about this restaurant apart from the delicious food is the fact you haven’t got a waiter breathing down your neck every 5 mins asking if we’re ready to order or as soon as your knife and fork is put down the plates being whisked away. We were visiting friends in Oxted & this little hotel was ideal for what we needed. Situated in a really charming village, it was peaceful but a good location. Decor is great, rooms are lovely and very clean. Super shower, comfy beds and nice breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay, quiet, comfortable and very tasteful, with decoration and easy on the eye art. Our room was superb and would not hesitate to stay here again. Whilst not commenting on the lunch or evening meal, our breakfast was plentiful, hot and tasty, with obvious local produce. The couple running the breakfast service could not do more for us, the coffee was literally on tap!

We attended a dear friends 80th birthday party last night at The Old Bakery. Thank you Andrew and team. The food was delicious. The tables laid out lovely and all in all a fun filled evening.

Have been coming to tHE bAKERY for about 8 years & each visit is always amazing, Andrew the owner is always welcoming and staff are always attentive. The food is awesome and always a buzzy atmosphere. What is so lovely about this place is that over the years we have met and chatted to some really nice people. Staff seemed to resent arrival and being forced into action at the earliest lunch slot. Soft drinks are served from large bottles, resulting in varying quality depending on when and what you order (flat drinks), staff unsure on pricing resulting in attempted overcharging. Excellent roast dinner served in restaurant, probably best roast potatoes in a long time and I am particularly fussy with this (too many try to shortcut process, a hot, crisp, fluffy inside roastie is a rare thing too often). Table service was good, although practice of being given a spoonful of mint sauce at a time is a little condescending rather than providing a small portion to the customer. Found it odd that no female staff appeared to work at the business. Probably wouldn't return, food didn't outweigh the general service and plenty of other places to try.

My last visit to The Bakery was excellent and once again didn’t disappoint. Very friendly service. Staff are helpful, paying attention to each table’s needs. The menu offered a super selection of options and every course was delicious. Excellent wine list too. A lovely dinner. We will definitely return.

We went to the Bakery last Wednesday and had a fabulous meal. It was quite quiet so easy to book. I thoroughly enjoyed my goats cheese starter and then we both had plaice which was beautifully cooked. I don't normally have a dessert but chose the treacle tart with clotted cream - i was very pleased I did.

The food was superb, quite a limited menu, but in the circumstances totally correct. The food we ordered was absolutely superb, topped off with impeccable service. Will be visiting this place more regularly

We came here for a family function a week ago, enjoyed the food so much we decided to come again the following Sunday.The food is beautiful, lovely taste and well presented. The service is excellent and the owner (Andrew) makes a point of popping around to ensure everything is okay (a really nice touch).Both times were a Sunday, so roast was on the menu, we went for the beef and it was excellent. The ambience is good too and there is a nice little bar area at the front, where you can have a drink before being seated at your table.We plan to go again, mid-week to sample the rest of their menu.Highly recommended.

We have visited twice on the eat out to help out scheme and been really impressed both times. We particularly enjoyed the skate last week and the chicken this week. I'd forgotten how much I like mackerel pate! Good selection of wines and always friendly and efficient service. Thank you.

Food was amazing , but it was down shadowed by the experience which was just awful. Waiters dripping with sweat as the air con was not working and hasn’t been for quite some time not just due to Covid. When booked it did not state on website the menu would be condensed and with only 2 starters/ main course and desserts it was extremely limited, lucky enough we liked both options or we would of gone hungry as we r or yes the a la Carte menu! Most dinners could not wait to leave the restaurant it was just totally uncomfortable. Also please change the dessert lemon pavlova does not go with the raspberry ice cream !

What a delightful surprise the Bakery turned out to be.Exceptional service at breakfast to looking after our room nothing was too much trouble.We ordered a picnic for our day at Biggin Hill this again turned out to be an exceptional culinary delight from home made scones, sausage rolls, chocolate brownies to name a few.

We met family for a meal and enjoyed great food, good and friendly service and a warm, relaxed ambiance. All of us enjoyed our meals. Andrew and his team were inviting, friendly and accommodating throughout. We will be back!

Have visited this delightful restaurant 3 times now and each time the food could not be faulted. The set menu is reasonably priced and value for money. The staff are very friendly and the service good. Would definitely recommend The Bakery.

We had an excellent weekday lunch in the bar area of the restaurant, accompanied by local beer from the Westerham Brewery. The restaurant was open from 12 - 2 and again at 6 p.m. It is easily accessible by bus 464 every half hour (every hour on Sunday) from the New Addington tram stop - just across the road from the Old Ship pub at the other end of the route. Service was friendly and efficient and the premises are bright and spacious.

What super food! Spacious restaurant, really delicious food, which was served piping hot. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

...you can't get much better than a place to eat and stay, friendly, welcoming staff, and all of this on the hottest day of the / any year: enough to stop anyone in their tracks. Excellent, balanced evening menu, great breakfast and a comfortable bed. Unusual village location, very convenient for London (Westerham station) and for visitor attractions in the area (National Trust and English Heritage, plus independents. I'd happily return: it is what it claims, which is refreshing.

Went here with my hubby for an evening meal. As you go in there is a spacious bar area, Whereabouts are you we had a drink afterwards. The tables in the restaurant are very well spread out so you are not on top of anyone, which we like. The food was delicious, we had a starter and a main, good portions and good quality food. We will definitely be going back

Dinner in June 2019 with friends. Always nice to be welcomed with a friendly smile and a chat with the owner when we arrived.

Went on a Thursday evening for my wife’s birthday. A nice friendly welcome. Had a drink in the front bar area with time to look at the menus. Order was taken in the bar area. After a short time we were invited through to the very nicely decorated dining area to a table for two with spotlessly clean tablecloths, cutlery, glasses and folded napkins. Cutlery laid out based on our order of starters and main. Nice wine list and reasonably priced. Generous portions of good quality and well presented food. Attentive but discreet service throughout the evening. Nice little touch at the end when a decorated piped chocolate plate was brought over to accompany our coffees, with a Happy Birthday message for my wife with a single candle and 2 small brownies and a rendition of “Happy birthday to you” sung by the manager and waiter.

Excellent food and service. Can’t wait to return ! Good varied menu and catered for my fussy vegetarian daughter. Nice touch, they found it was our anniversary and sent a nice plate out.

I was truly impressed really nice menu and food was excellent. It’s not often that I can say that. I had two starters as my main course the duck confit and the beetroot salad but were served beautifully. I think the chef’s palette is spot on, well done. Good wine menu too. We came for dinner on Friday night. I was surprised how big the Bakery is inside, it is light and airy with a clean, modern feel. The welcome was lovely and we walked through the busy bar into the main restaurant which is spacious and very well presented. The waiting staff were charming and our drinks came almost immediately. There is a good choice of food on the menu ranging from sea bass, local lamb, steaks from the grill etc. I had the chicken liver parfait to start which came with a home made chutney, it was delicious. For mains I had a ribeye steak which was perfectly medium rare as requested and the quality of the meat was excellent. I rarely eat dessert but decided to go for the whole experience and finished up with a delicious warm chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream on top. Dont think i'm going to be eating much today ! It was a lovely evening and I'm looking forward to our next visit. The Bakery definitely falls into the 'hidden gem' category and is well worth a journey to experience it.

We stayed at the Bakery overnight and had a meal with family who live in Surrey. The room was comfortable with lovely soft twin beds and a well appointed shower room. However the welcome was exceptional and the breakfast of smoked haddock and poached eggs was freshly cooked to order and scrumptious. The evening meal was made with excellent ingredients but the the three way cooked chips were a disappointment. However the team were highly responsive in providing kids meals despite a busy Saturday night service. I understand there was a stand-in chef for the night which resulted in being below par. Such a shame as this would easily be a 10 out of 10. Definitely would stay again.

We arrived on a Saturday night, dinner was very nice but for someone who is allergic to fish was a bit of a problem, only two items on the main course were not fish related, we did say on booking there was a fish allergy, would have been good to know the menu was so fishy,our son commented that no one asked if it was a celebration.apart from the disinterest from the staff great food and drink.

I love this restraunt and brings back memories everytime I visit from years gone by when it was the place to go. There are very few places left which offer the high class romantic atmosphere that you will find here. If you take the time to talk to the waiters they are carrying and full of humour. My wife and I enjoyed the food and had a great night.

A great venue to eat and to sleep. Food excellent as was the service. We had dinner here with family following a flight in a Spitfire at nearby Biggin Hill. We stayed the night in a lovely room with a full English breakfast served the next morning.

This is the 2nd time we have been here and I remember now why we haven’t been back! Food very nice but owner/staff not bothered... we waited over an hour for our meals to come out with little apology or effort to remedy our dissatisfaction. A shame - atmosphere not great. Hardly anyone in there on a Friday night so that says it all. I think they have 1st time customers only and then people do t go back due to staff...

A really lovely restaurant, a relaxed, stylish atmosphere with a super menu. Everything about our visit was superb, friendly attentive waiters, clean white table linen, with a warm greeting from the owner and most importantly, lovely food, cooked to perfection. We are not locals but if we were, we would return often. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 50 years together with a few friends who were equally old, by reconstructing a menu from 1968. We thought The Bakery was probably the only restaurant locally we could trust to get it right. They agreed to have a go and worked out a menu with some old favourites. I am happy to say we and our guests all had a great evening. The food could not have been better and the staff looked after us very well. It was one of the best of our various mini-celebrations.

Our second visit and unfortunately we just came away feeling the same as the first time that the staff and particularly the manager just weren’t interested! They barely spoke to us, didn’t really ask if everything was ok, one waiter didn’t seem to speak much English, we weren’t asked if we would like coffee etc etc.

From arrival until departure we were made most welcome and felt at home at The Bakery. Food was well prepared and very tasty. A place to go back to if in the area and would reccemend to others.

This is my second visit and and I was not disappointed. We eat out most weekends and we have got to the stage where I'm fed up of paying for poor quality food and it being passed off as homemade when you know it's not but I must say every mouthful was delicious.

Comfortable and welcoming venue and service. Have dined here on several occasions in the past and have always been pleased. However, I came away recently with the feeling of being charged high prices for what can be described as marginally above average food. Not sure whether it has declined in popularity recently, as there were very few tables in use (roughly 20%) during our two and a half hour visit (20.00-22.30 Sat). It was apparent that no new diners arrived during our visit. Unlikely to visit again in the future.

We came for mothers day, and the food was incredible! The vibe of the place is happy, bright and friendly. The waiting staff were attentive and professional. I definitely recommend!

Lovely rooms, great food, friendly staff, very accommodating, in every way making one feel very at home. I was one of a party of 5 using 4 rooms, everyone was unanimous in the 10 out of 10 for everything. Would definitely stay and eat there again if I was any where nearby.

I had dinner this evening in the bakery after hearing such good things about it. I ordered a starter and main meal, the starter was OK. The main meal was not nice at all. I was hoping the waiter would come over to check on me, but didn’t so I waited about 5 minuets to get eye contact and tell him I’m really sorry but I didn’t like it! He didn’t apologise or asked me if I wanted anything else. He took the plate away and I didn’t see him again after that! Another waiter served us? I wanted a dessert as I was still hungry from not eating my dinner, I found this waiter very blunt? So I again tried to get the managers eye contact as I didn’t want to shout. He finally come over after about 10 minuets, I’d asked if I offended The waiter as he wasn’t as friendly to me anymore? The managers reply was “ we all tried the food ourselves and found it fine” I was so offended! He was patronising and unhelpful. I was made to feel like a liar! I hadn’t eaten half the food on the plate? Plus I wasn’t asked how the food was after receiving it? I had to call the waiter over myself! I was the only customer in the dinning area and now I understand why? The manager took £10 off the bill, which seemed hardship! Bad customer service! Would never go there again! Poor service skills.

We stayed in the guest rooms at the Bakery Restaurant and only ate in the restaurant for breakfast - which was offered as anything you like! The scrambled eggs and the full English were both very good.

If you find yourself in or near to Tatsfield it's really worth visiting The Bakery. We met for business. The welcome was friendly, it was light and airy and the food was consistently good over all the courses we chose.

so many years since i wa there. decor definately changed. and personally i don't like it. too bland and impersonal. cold feeling. however the food was lovely. a couple of unusual things on the menu. the staff were pleasant and helpful. would definately go back.

We visited for a pre-Christmas get together and I've wanted to eat here for years. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was really delicious. The wine list was very good according to my husband. Walking thru' to the main dining room, there was more atmosphere, tho' sadly it wasn't very busy. The front part of the restaurant near the bar area was a little too bright and it seemed out of place with the rest of the restaurant. We will return as the food was really lovely.

Very welcoming, efficient and friendly staff. The service and meal were excellent, couldn't be faulted in any way. It was a 'party' night so it was very busy with lots of groups. Staff coped very well, serving all food at our table of 9 at the same time. Food was exceptional, plenty of it and hot. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

We booked restaurant for a xmas dinner. Just one optic tree in one corner of bar. No other festive decorations. I don't remember any background music being played. We had to wait a long time for starters to be served.

We went to the Bakery for our work xmas duo, after being recommended by a friend. Upon arrival we were seen to very quickly, and as previous reviews stated the Bakery was decorated brilliantly which enhanced the atmosphere and the warm feeling of the restaurant.

Lunchtime Christmas meal. Nice ambience and actually much larger inside than it looks from the outside. Luckily had eaten a big breakfast only 3 hours beforehand because the portions served were very small. Tasty enough but not enough to satisfy hunger. Didn't appreciate the waiter that kept knocking into me every time he reached over my shoulder to leave or take a plate. Once or twice I would have put down to accidental, but four times and I start to think may be some sort of game.

Sorely disappointed. Poor service and poor quality food. Ham hock terrine was more jelly than ham. chicken, chorizo and prawn skewers were dry and over cooked, the prawns are left whole with their shells on so not deveined and no finger bowl was offered. The prawns tasted old and tough. Only offered one drink all evening, no wine list and not offered a dessert menu. Attitude of the owner when we mentioned to him the issues with our meal he was very dismissive. The best bit of the evening was the lovely English waiter who was only helping out for the night and the pub across the road!
