Food is always great. Been again tonight, can't fault it... again x friendly staff, nice place with busy bar. Updated 21Apr22 - have a restaurant menu and a bar menu, equally great. Sat outside and ordered from the similar bar menu. Would recommend again

If you wish to step back in time and enjoy a meal and ale. I recommend this place. Very friendly service

Having a great evening until they called last orders at 9:45. Then the woman who was cleaning down had no customer service skills, used abrupt single phrases to tell us to drink up and go. Manager was very "apologetic" but equally rude about closing times, which, according to here aren't until 12 and the 10pm closure isn't made clear. We understood that closing is closing, but it is how things are said, and this was beyond lacking.

A recent visit demonstrated a high level of flavour for both vegetarian and meat dishes. Recommended for a romantic meal too. Brilliant triple cooked chips too!

Get in early if you want a seat. It gets busy. Beautifully quaint building. Mind the step!

Quaint old pub, we had the Xmas menu that was excellent as was the old original beer highly recommend. The only down side was the poor aim of customers in the toilets.

Decline since being restaurant pub side very crowded and at 9 on a Friday they still kept the restaurant side closed off for even though it's empty. When they could of let the pub side flow into it. It's almost like they don't want to make a profit. From experience you get some munchies after drinking a little and they still could of sold food.

Disappointed as we went for a special occasion on a Monday, we booked. 1hr30 waiting for mains, plates cold, 2 out of 5 meals were not warm steak, chips and battered onion rings, and fish, chips they were cooked nicely but not hot by the time we got them. Service was poor, after first drink, we were offered complimentary bread and olives due to waiting times, but if we knew we had to wait that long, probably would have gone somewhere else. We had to ask for extra drinks after an hour. One staff member did say food wouldn't be long, just before it came out. Otherwise, we wouldn't have known how long we had to sit for. We were offered one free pudding as an apology but had birthday cake at home so we weren't ordering puddings.They weren't busy. Unfortunately won't be going again as it wasn't worth the money.

We visited briefly but first impressions were very good. A very old pub with a lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff and well kept Everard's beers. We'll be back.

Good portions and plenty of veg, Yorkshire was a bit disapointing. Also a reminder to. People working in the food industry that touching of hair and face whilst seving food is not permitted due to hygiene. One of the servers did not seem to grasp this.

Really beautiful historic pub, I used to come here with my cousins many moons ago. We came in on the off chance, it was very busy - they managed to accommodate us. The service was attentive, friendly and professional. The food was exquisite. Really tasty and filling. I eat a lot but after a shared starter and main, I couldn’t contemplate a dessert course. I will definitely return. Full marks all round, Chris C

Wonderful meal yesterday. The soup was very filling and thick. The roast dinner was excellent and the service was very good. This is a very old building which gave great atmosphere and included wooden beams. Head height was a challenge but the restaurant was full and they found us a table although we hadn’t booked. I enjoyed the cast ales and was pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived. May have limited access for wheelchairs.

The place was 'rammed', but we still got served promptly & politely, which made our 'get together' all the more pleasurable. Also, the food was very good.

Lovely shabby chic restaurant, food lovely, staff great 👍. Only 2 tables taken, but we dined at 7 pm? Loads of people in garden drinking as sunny evening. Will be back. Expensive, but so many places are. Nice for a romantic evening. Photos don't do justice.

Attended the psychic night on Monday, had a great evening with lovely service lovely food. The psychics were amazing and me and my friends had such a laugh. Will definitely be returning! Couldn’t recommend the bakers arms psychic night enough!

Ok so booked the psychic evening for mums Mother’s Day present, she likes stuff spread throughout the year. Paid the deposit and told the final amount would be taken from the same card on the day of event, no issues there on par with other establishments. The 5/6 course meal…. Disappointing to say the least, all served at room temperature, lacking taste and quality. Smoked salmon gravlax…. Nice wording for what was actually smoked salmon straight from the packet rolled in to circles, no dill or seasoning near it. The gazpacho just needed some tortillas to dip in because it was actually just a salsa sauce! Pork over cooked and no crispy crackling and let’s be fair it’s all about the cracking. The pub cannot be responsible for the psychics which we’re probably some folk from and old folks home out on a jolly. But the icing on the cake was getting a call some 5 minutes after leaving to say we hadn’t paid our bill! MORTIFIED. Obviously paid in fall but the slant in my character nearly as hard to swallow as the food! Not to be repeated! Fancy names like amuse bouche, palette cleanser and gravlax should really be used by those that can produce the products they advertise! What a crock!

A brilliant pub , such a wonderful place to be in. Lived in Leicestershire for 54 years and this was my first visit but not my last.

Had a great roast dinner for four of us today. Nice quality food. Under £20 per head for two courses.

Lovely and quiet. Nice meal. We had the steak. Staff we great. Only downside is I’m 6ft 5 and had to keep bent over due to the period features. Otherwise a lovely experience

We went for xmas party dinner was lovely.

This is usually a very friendly pub, with a good range of drinks from ales, lagers and ciders to wines and spirits. Food here is usually good too with a small range of starters, snacks and main meals. It can be a bit cramped inside as this pub/building dates back to the 1400s - it's low ceilings and doorways are a direct result of this so remember to duck as you move around! Not the most child friendly of pubs - I'll let you decide if that is a plus point or not 😉 but it does have some outdoor seating for those with kids and/or dogs.

Great little find, quirky little place, but a tardis inside.

Great building from 1485, low wooden ceiling, and small ambience make you feel back in the past. The service is great, fast and gentle, and the drinks cool (tried the draugh beer). The menu spaces across meal, fish and veggy. If you want to breath an old English pub than thisnis a must go place in Birmingham.

Pub is fine the setting fine the staff excellent the meal very poor very little meat the wife's pork was mainly fat we sent that back only to be told that pork is fatty as the wife is a commercial cook it did not go down well

Called in for lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. Very impressed! Lovely traditional pub / restaurant with very pleasant staff. Had lunch in the restaurant which was very nice and beautifully presented. I think everything including the bread was homemade. They also have a nice beer garden but weather was a bit unpredictable so we remained inside.

Sad that it was a wake. But good food and drink. Lovely atmosphere.

A quaint place sadly we were there for my brother in laws wake.The food provided was delicious and different to the norm right up my street and several others were pleasantly surprised by the food. Waited over an hour and a half for food - was 5 of us but we had only ordered the sandwiches.. for an intended quick / lovely lunch for my dads bday ended up being very long waiting disappointment.

Very disappointed to find that you cannot eat at this pub if you have a dog with you, even though they state they are dog friendly. We were offered a table in the restaurant; but the dog was not allowed, no food served in the bar or garden! The staff were aloof and unhelpful.

Reservation booked 1 week in advance. Received a call from the hotel afternoon of the day of the reservation that they were not serving any food and between chef.

Didn't even get to eat here for my birthday meal after pre booking 2 days before. Reason being is I ring 1 hour before to ask for an outside table to get told they tried to ring yesterday because the chef called in sick today. ..okay then🤣 Won't be bothering to book again that's for sure

Nice location. Be careful of the low beams. Not impressed with the bar food. Had to send back the burger twice as it wasnt cooked properly. In fact the 2nd one was less cooked than the first. Gave us a refund

Friendly table service. Lovely surroundings. Staff then overwhelmed by an unannounced wedding party stopping off for a drink. Our family meal booked in for 13.30 started well, BUT, when it came to ordering desserts we were told the chefs had now gone off duty and would be back about 17.00. So no pudding for my wife's birthday meal. Darkly comic, over priced, bizarre and lamentable service for customers spending hundreds of pounds on a special meal. Not a patch on The Joiner's at Bruntingthorpe. You have been warned!

The food was pricey and disappointed on a few of the courses, starter under cooked, main lacking in quantity and veg sparse and undercooked, liquor coffee undrinkable as far too much sugar and too sweet. Voiced our concerns and standard response 'sorry about that' and no offer of complimentary drink even. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch and we weren't let down. Absolutely beautiful food. Lovely staff and a lovely quaint little pub. Definitely worth stopping by for. Thanks guys.

Visited on a Saturday night with friends. Initial waiter service was goid. Drinks took ages to arrive though. Food order took an hour and a half !!! Unacceptable to be told they were short staffed after waiting that long. No apology beforehand. Pie was burned on the top and very few vegetables. We felt the meal was overpriced and not good value. Will not be visiting again.

Great outdoor seating. Cozy old pub, mind the low ceilings. Bar staff friendly and professional drinks a little on the pricey side but I guess that's the same most places these days. Everards beer on tap and a great pint of Tiger. Food menu outstanding on restaurant side and serves a wide range of bistro food. For me the food is some of the best of its food category in South Leicester.

A really lovely place to have a meal and a drink. We had the 6 course valentines set menu and it couldn't have been better. The food was beautifully cooked and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a lovely relaxed evening and we will definitely be going back.

Goats cheese starter - melted but served cold unfortunately. Ordered the mushroom and stilton arancini, received soup of the day in error that burnt my husbands tongue and took him 15 minutes to eat it was that hot. Vegan burgers were burnt. Potato wedges weren’t properly cooked, too hard. We had the vegan burger at Christmas time and it was fantastic so this evening was a huge let down. Charged full price for a child’s meal. Staff friendly, clean and pleasant atmosphere.

Starter was so bland! Main meal was burnt! And they wasn’t even busy! A lovely old pub which as let themselves down again! A for one won’t give it another chance.
