We did not know the pubs in this area but decided to take a chance on this place as it looked nice and had a garden area for eating.Really pleased we did - food was excellent, well cooked and well presented. My wife and I had the mixed seafood grill which was delicious and our daughter had the omelette which she said was perfect. The staff were friendly, helpful and watching the way they interacted with customers, nothing seemed to be too much trouble..The menu is extensive enough to please most palates and is not over expensive. We do not live nearby otherwise we would definitely frequent this pub regularly but will certainly return when we are next in the area.

Having been told this was a great place to eat, I thought I would try it out with a friend for a lunch & wish I hadn't, now.I ordered the Battered Cod. It didn't look good on presentation, it a very thin piece of cod with the skin still on. It was soggy with Greece/oil & that's what it tasted of. It was totally flat on the surface & nothing crispy about it.On cutting it open I could see uncooked batter. It looked like the fish was was dipped in the batter & put in cold oil & stayed flat. It didn't have the texture or taste of cod. Having eaten battered cod at 2 other local gastro pubs recently & thoroughly enjoyed it, my experience at the Bakers Arms was far from satisfactory. When I raised the problem with the server, she wasn't apologetic & told me how others had ordered the same dish that day. It was not helpful to me & I was discussing the Cod on my plate & not others. My friend had an Omelette which didn't look at all appetising. I would not go back because they were not customer focused & they did not listen. It was a waste of time & money & not having eaten I went home & cooked.

Popped in for Lunch with wife on a lovely hot summer afternoon I decided to have a Ploughman’s lunch for a change which was priced at just under £10 although the was nothing wrong with the meal I felt a bit cheated as all it consisted of was 2 pieces of cheddar 2 small rolls some salad bit of pickle and coleslaw for the price I would have like a little more food or a lower price of say around £7.50 but service was good and Cider was nice so if we are passing I will pop in but try something else from the menu.

So where to start....the service spot on, clean venue, separate dining area, nice English atmosphere. The food, to die for.We had scallops which they were cooked to perfection, tasty and well presented, and king prawns with cherry tomatoes which again they delighted both me and my wife, cooked perfectly with a nice spicy tent. Just perfect. We had a lemon sorbetto after this to change the taste in our mouths as we ordered to red meat after. The fillet steak with mushrooms cooked perfectly rare as requested, very tender and juicy !! The desert a classic apple crumble and cheese cake fabulous aswell. You can see and taste their Chefs passion for proper food. Compliments again to the chefs and all the staff!!!

On arrival, we were greeted by a member of staff who clearly didn’t like her job, her attitude was abrupt & off hand. We had not even sat down & were being ask to order. She strutted around the pub, like some kind of wannabe gangster. It was quite comical, but not the service you expect from a nice country pub. The food is excellent, so if you are not intimidated by her ridiculous behaviour & attitude, you will enjoy yourself.

This is a good place to meet friends for lunch . I always book because it's usually quite busy. All Covid precautions were being observed including hand sanitizer, one way system, paper menus and everyone moving around was wearing a mask. We had a pleasant table in the restaurant section. Drinks order was quickly taken and delivered to the table. We only wanted a light meal so opted for jacket potato with toppings although there were more substantial options available. We enjoyed our meal ( I had chilli con carne topping) and found the service very good.

Ordered two Jacket Potatoes at 2.15pm and at 3.30pm left without ever getting them. Relatively quiet day so no excuses! Pleasant bar staff, but never did find out what the problem was? Others were getting food, so maybe they haven't got anyone in the kitchen that knows how to cook a jacket! Checked three times for updates, but they were always "just coming" , but unfortunately never arriving! How can any establishment that advertises food, find it impossible to serve up two Jacket potatoes?

We ordered the Sunday roast beef and Lamb meals which were a delight. The gravy was the best ever (we all three commented on this). The portion sizes were just right and presented on large plates therefore easy to eat.The dessert was just as good and well presented. The coffee was well flavoured and strong. My guests said this was one of the best meals they had tasted in a long time. The staff were friendly and efficient and always smiling despite being busy. The prices are reasonable too, as three roast dinners with drinks, dessert and coffee only came to £70.Highly recommended but leave a table for us please.

Had Sunday lunch here for my birthday with the wife.... Both had the mixed roast. 3 individual slices of pork, beef and lamb with 3 small wedges of roast potato (about 3/8 of a large spud each) and desert spoon size portions of carrot, broccoli and cabbage plus a smallish yorkshire. Both meals ingerdients bought in Tesco would've probably cost under £5.00 they charge £14 each! Desert small individual pot of crumble and pot of custard £6, cheese and biscuits £7.25. This meal in the Toby would've probably cost £30 and you would've got more food for your money. We paid £50 so left feeling decidedly unfulfilled and ripped off... Plus and not the pubs fault some oaf at another table talking very loudly to people 2 feet away and using the F*** word! Not been here for 15 years and sorry Bakers Arms but probably won't go back...

Make no apology for praising this restaurant again.Visited for lunch with family as we now do on a regular basis. Good welcome from the young waiting staff. Not surprised to see so many tables full on a Monday and that buzz of conversation you get when people are enjoying themselves. We all enjoyed our lunch . Mum had salmon fish cakes, daughter the meat pie and son in law had steak. But the highlight as usual was my seafood linguine although spaghetti was served which was no problem. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND SO FULL OF SEAFOOD THAT I had trouble finishing it. No trouble really as it was so good.. Best part was the two giant prawns which were placed in the dish. Always enjoy a glass or two of wine. One set back was a bill that listed items we had not ordered. The waitress gave the excuse that another had got involved in preparing the bill and I hope this is the correct answer. The matter was immediately rectified

I can't comment on every night of the week but certainly on all the visits we have made the level of noise coming from the bar area has been unacceptable if you are trying to have a conversation and concentrate what you are saying over what is always an excellent meal. We stopped here for lunch on a lovely sunny day. It was a great location and a lovely lunch with friendly staff. The garden area was a nice place to sit and relax. Would return again.

Came here for a drink with a friend for the first time. The staff ruin this place. They all seem to dislike the pub themselves. The 'manager' was unfriendly and very grumpy. Service is slow. My friend ordered food which was quite literally dumped on the table by a very miserable waitress. Stock is such a nice village, and would recommend any of the other pubs, not this one.

This was our first evening visit to the Bakers Arms restaurant having enjoyed a number of lunch time meals. The evening atmosphere is certainly different in as much as there were a large number of men in the bar area who were obstructing access to the restaurant and I had to ask three of these boisterous drinkers to make way for our party. As the evening progressed, the background noise from these customers became rather intrusive. Anyway, we were visiting this venue for a family dinner and we did our best to ignore this unwelcome distraction. Two of our party ordered the sea food platter and this was OK. I ordered the sirloin steak and specified that it be cooked as 'medium', but unfortunately I was presented with a steak that was cooked as 'rare'. When I attempted to speak to the serving staff about this, they seemed to be somewhat uninterested in my plight. Furthermore, my request for some mild French mustard could not be met - very disappointing. This is not a cheap venue and the quality of the meal that I was served did not match my reasonable expectations.

I have been for Sunday lunch on many occasions , but this was my first time for mid week lunch . There was 10 of us and we were comfortably accommodated both in the bar before and after lunch and in the restaurant. The food was outstanding . We ate off the al a carte menu and everyone was very complimentary about their choices . The starters seemed a little overpriced but they were huge and could have been eaten as a light lunch on there own . Abby our waitress was very helpful and looked after us excellently , readily supplying us with drinks etc . The reason I have not given the 5* it should have got is down to the other waitress - having spent a large amount of money between us , we ordered 2 plates of cheese & biscuits to share , along with other desserts , coffee etc There was a very reasonable amount of cheese but only 4 biscuits . Extra biscuits were given to the other end of the table but my request to the other waitress for the same was met with sullenness and a query if I wanted to order another cheese board . So no more biscuits were forthcoming . It may seem a petty criticism but it seemed a very poor attitude and service . Perhaps she was just having a bad day . But once again huge thanks to Abby for making our friends birthday lunch such a good one .

Went here to celebrate my fathers birthday on a Saturday lunchtime and can give nothing but praise. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the food was of an exceptional quality and the service was prompt but totally unrushed. I look forward to returning soon.

We called into The Baker's Arms on our way to Norfolk for lunch. It was just turning 2.30 so we asked the very pleasant girl behind the bar if they were still serving food. She said that she thought the kitchen was about to close, but we said we only wanted a sandwich so she said she would check with the Chef. She came back quite quickly and said that we could have a sandwich, so we quickly ordered a tuna mayo and cucumber one and a prawn and tomato with Marie Rose sauce. We ordered drinks and sat down in a very cosy bar with a log fire. After a short wait, our sandwiches arrived and I have to say they were delicious! There was loads of filling in them and they were made with "proper" bread with a nice little salad on the side. The girl behind the bar couldn't have been more helpful and we were only sorry that this was only a flying visit this time as we'd like to return at a later date.

Popped in for a drink. Felt real warmth and friendliness in the pub. Kinda what pubs used to be like (not many of these around these days)

We popped in looking for lunch and not knowing the area at all. The pub is welcoming and what you might expect from a village pub. The food was excellent although most might think a little pricey - £8 for a mozzarella, tomato, rocket and avocado salad starter and £16 for the Salmon main. That said, if that's in your price bracket I would recommend it as it was as good as most restaurants I have been to. The service was good too. I think you could choose to eat from a different menu in the bar area rather than the restaurant area where we ate. That might have more predictable bar food and prices.

Recommended by a colleague. Ordered fish and chips. The fish was good however the chips were oven chips, would have loved a handful of chunky chips in place of the oven chips. A very busy pub with rustic feel. Would go again.

Went at lunchtime. Food hit and miss. One of our party had the mussels which he said we're delicious. The crab and prawn tower was disappointing. Under seasoned and lacking any sauce. Mains OK but sauces far too salty. Overall very expensive for what was essentially a pub lunch.

We returned to Wakers Arms in Stock for a meal with friends. Again all of the food was first class, especially the liver and bacon, the best I have ever tasted. The service was excellent and the prices were very good. Well done again to this very friendly and very welcoming pub/ restaurant.

We were surprised in was so busy on a Wednesday lunchtime, but they managed to get us a table for 5 inside. We ordered from a specials menu (I think): chili con carne, a couple of steak and ale pies, sausages and mash, and a lasagne. All was very good quality. Then for dessert. The Eton mess was divine, and they had my brother-in-law's favourite dessert, lemon tart. Decent prices, pretty good service for the amount of customers. Oh, and Old Speckled Hen on draught. Perfect!

Visited on Saturday night with another couple. The menu was excellent and the reasonably priced, service was good and the food was hot and tasty. The restaurant is at the back of the main pub and is quite intimate, the bar area was busy and fairly noisy at the time of our visit which detracts a little whilst dining. overall a pleasant evening.
