The Bake One in Newcastle upon Tyne

Ordered food from just eat yesterday evening and it was cold and the chicken was still pink in the middle not to mention that chicken wings and chips were missed on our delivery and when I rang the restaurant a man on the phone said that they would deliver the food another day because they couldn’t send one again and then hung up on me after I said that the food which had arrived was good and chicken was undercooked. Poor food quality and customer service shame really looked forward to it yesterday Edit: because I can’t reply to the bottom message from the owner. This is 100% the correct restaurant I ordered on just eat if you give me an email I can send my order details to you

Great Lebanese food with generous portions and good prices

When I enter The Bake I am transported. Chopped mint, and toasted cardamom, roasted lamb, rice and tabbouleh salad and delicious pastries, perfect with a glass of mint tea. I sit and indulge and reminisce over my past years of travel before heading back outside to the Northern UK drizzle.

Absolutely fantastic food and lovely staff! We eat here regularly, last on Christmas Eve, we had huge portions so lots of leftovers, also got pudding on the house, highly recommend if you want tasty food (vegetarian or not), the mixed shawarma plate is second to none! Enjoy!

Excellent customer service and food

Do not order from them, they once got my order wrong when I got a takeaway and were really rude to me when I called, I also ordered from them on uber eats tonight, the food never arrived and they fobbed me off telling me to contact uber eats or ring tomorrow, it states on uber eats the shop were delivering the order, they wouldn't help me and ruined my new year's This order was from the bake one gosforth and i have proof of my order!!!!

Me and my wife were wanting somewhere to sit but all the pubs were rammed she was also peckish so we popped in. Initially it was not clear that you were open as the outside sign was not lit. We entered anyway and were immediately welcomed and set to a table. We ordered chicken Beirut wrap mixed wrap and a Lebanese sesame bread. The wraps were lovely, really succulent juicy meat and toasted slightly on each side to give a lovely texture as you bite into it. They were accompanied by lovely fresh and vibrant salad including some lovely pickles which when combined with the garlic dip and everything else is brilliant hitting all the sour, creamy, crunchy, juicy textures you could want in a single bite. The sesame bread was nice but slightly overpowering with the sesame and black pepper flavour, I've never ordered it before so can't say if it should be like that, nevertheless we ate the lot and was pleasant when combined with the chilli and garlic sauces. It took a while to clear the tables but the main waiter was very busy taking what appeared to be online orders and takeaways. We ordered some baklava which was very nice but did not appear the be homemade and it didn't look like the picture on the online menu. When we got the bill we were surprised on two accounts first was a service charge circa 8% which we were not expecting and secondly the baklava was on the house which was very generous. Wife also went to the toilets upstairs and told me they were spotlessly clean so top marks on that. Overall it was very good, I was just in Gosforth visiting family otherwise I would come back more often. Would highly recommend to others.

Unreal food and amazing staff!!!

Ordered on UberEats and didn’t receive my full order. The food was freezing and didn’t arrive on time. I tried to call the restaurant repeatedly but every time it said “user busy” and didn’t even ring. Not up to standard.

Lovely food and service, was a bit noisy with Christmas parties at first but soon settled

We absolutely love this restaurant. The staff are the best as is the food. We’ve been getting a take away from here every week for years and the staff know us and always look after us: my son loves coming in to pick it up as the staff know him and love him. Would highly recommend x

It had been some time since our last visit and we were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by friendly staff, creating a great atmosphere. The 'King Grill Platter' with fantastic chicken and lamb shawarma exceeded expectations. Despite arriving late, the service remained attentive even during the busy period. We indulged in extra sides and delightful desserts, making it an all-around satisfying experience. 'The Bake One' is a standout for both flavors and hospitality." Over all great food, friendly and attentive staff, good atmosphere. We will be back.

We always buy from the bake gosforth but the last time we bought through justeat the food came old and stale, the meat gave me and my partner food poisoning we were gonna complain and saved a sample but eventually we let it go, it's not worth the hassle but honestly for the prices you expect a fresh good quality grill not old meat that gives you food poisoning!!!! I can show the receipt if they deny it.

Nice food with generous portions, excellent service and nice atmosphere. Just a pity you don't get more of the excellent garlic mayo...

One of the best in the UK especially shawerma

Foods ok but the rude short tempered staff spoil the experience. We were in a group of 6 and obviously theres gonna be a complaint or change to something and some demands. Staff were rolling eyes and huffing, even when asked for more drinks. I would only recommend to people with patience.

I very rarely leave a review for a takeaway but tonight was an exception. Me and my partner ordered 2 mixed shawarma wraps with chips expecting just a quick threw together wrap each, but what we got was amazing. The wrap's came with salad and chips (separate not in the wrap) the wrap was toasted and sliced, even well presented! And with a side of mixed cabbage slaw which was also beautiful. Wish I had of took a picture beforehand but, honestly... #stundog, would deffo be back and very pleasantly surprised 5/5

I had a thinly sliced lamb wrap today, and it was an extraordinary eating experience. Patato fries were delicious, as spice and salt were adjusted very well. Above all, the presentation of the food on a wooden board was great. It made a really good first impression on me. Thanks.

We love the food from here and order quite often, however even though we put in the comments box that we want a starter portion of garlic which we order and pay for which is £3.50 they send a tiny little pot which I know is in error but happens probably 80% of the time. I will continue to order but we order through Uber eats and just claim it back but I would just prefer the large garlic to come, or I would order multiple pots. Love the food but would like this little issue sorting

The foods were excellent. We orderer mega platter and chicken briyani. The foods were full of flavour. The waiters were helpful and friendly. The best Halal restaurant in town

It was Our daughters birthday ,we had a splendid time ,the food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient , couldn’t have been better, there was no fuss about bringing your own cake, ,and all the staff and customers sang happy birthday, it was a delight, so many thanks again, we will go again soon 👍

Pleasant surroundings, friendly staff although we had to remind the waiter to bring our drinks. Food tasty, portion generous. However I've noticed a 13% service charge was added to the bill as well as leaving a generous tip. Very disappointed and feel cheated.

Had dinner here for mothers birthday. The food was tasty and full of fresh flavours. The staff could not have been nicer. They were welcoming and made my Mother's day. Would highly recommend

If I could put Zero stars I would…we ordered a mix of different wraps last night for a family with children and it was inedible!!!! You get a 25% off when Ordering online but can’t change the chilli sauce option and it was super extra hot with pieces of raw chilli the order ended up in the bin because of the risk of getting gastritis….You should either fix your website or ask the customer on collection,???What a waste of money pity as the meat was well cooked.

I have tried this restaurant twice so far and it was excellent in both times. One of the best middle eastern food in Newcastle. Just to suggest to make an option for Tehina along with chilly and garlic sauce and another option for no sauce as I was forced to chose garlic or chilly when I ordered online via just eat although i don't like either as there was no option for no sauce.

I usually order from the bake in Gosforth, but yesterday we ordered via deliveroo and the food was not edible, the sharwarma was hard and dry wasn't edible at all. The baby chicken was horid, again not edible and the wraps were all soggy and digusting. The Nan bread was rock solid , not edible, and the hot salad was not like it usually is. They also missed our rice out..This has really put us off from ordering from there again. Such a waste of money and loss of some regular customers.

First time we've tried this place and must say the food was wonderful especially as take out. Definitely be back and would really recommend it. You did forget my rice but soon forgot about that.

Order arrived very very late, time constantly being pushed forward. Ordered previously and had forgotten garlic sauce with order, however we ignored and decided to order again. Ordered the same meal and ensured garlic sauce added however this time didn't arrive with chips -we ordered last week and chips were included in the meal. -rung up to let them know they had forgotten them and ask if they could be dropped off, the person on the phone said that it was 'my mistake' and there were no chips on the order As you can see from the screenshots attached chips were included -was not 'my mistake' Very rude, order late both times, will not be ordering again.

Naughty. Deliveries are usually under an hour, food is consistent every time, hot & really nice. - don’t often read the special instructions though

Shared the Mega Kebab with my adult son and we just barely finished it, The staff kept providing dips and bowls of olives and bread as and when we ran out of them. Prices are quite reasonable and the food was delicious, will definitely be going back. Just to point out this is a Lebanese restaurant. Just been back for a second time (16/01/2020) food still delicious but forgot they are cash only so had to pop out to a cash machine prior to eating. And will be going back soon.

Great food and service, good value and friendly. Car park near by over the road 30p an hour and free after 6pm so book yourself and family a table, kids are welcome also.

Delicious food and huge sized portions. Nice and comfortable seating area with lovely and friendly staff.

Ordered a take out from this place and certainly was not disappointed. The menu didn't specify how many persons the food was for, but we ordered one portion and hoped for the best. There was ample for both of us and it was beautiful. Waste of time ordering chips as an extra portion as we couldn't even get to those. WILL DEFINITELY be using them more regularly!!!

Popped in to Bake One at The Stack, Newcastle with my daughter who is a real fan of Lebanese food. We ordered the chicken halloumi wrap and falafel, fattoush and houmous. Super tasty. Staff were really friendly and helpful when we wanted to doggy bag what we hadn’t been able to finish eating. Decor wise it’s not the type to go for a romantic meal but it suited us fine. Definitely give it’s try

A lovely little genuine cafe in the centre of Goforth. Polite and respectful staff. Lovely food and a 'bring your own drink' policy for those on a budget or who prefer that option.

Very unfriendly staff, the waitress (ladu)was rude and unfriendly. We also dealt with the young manager or waiter, this had an aggressive attitude with us and rude as well. I understand that they are stressed by work but in this case they only had 2 tables and everything was empty. not recommendable. I do not want to think about how the staff is on a Friday night probably bad atmosphere. It is not pleasant to have people without manners in positions with clients.

Lovely chicken parmo. Massive portions would be the only downfall. I'd half the chicken and double the chips. The coleslaw was out of this world and the staff where very nice and pleasant. Will come again!

Food was fairly dry but quick delivery. Felt like a warmed up kebab in the micro wave as the lettuce was heated up and soggy chips were cheap fried up suff and nothing to get excited about. Was persuaded to give a good review with a free can of pop and probably won't order again

Went with my boyfriend for valentines day, loved the atmosphere and the middle eastern music, service was great so was the food, the biryani i had there is probably one of the best I’ve ever tasted

I remember discovering The Bake One many years ago when it went under a different name, the food was outstanding and portions huge. When I found out they were opening a branch in Gosforth I was over the moon, I avoided them when I saw the One Star Food Hygene, and was relieved to see them improve however over the last year things have changed, portions have got smaller and smaller, I ve encounter quite a few grisely bits in the meat, I often order take out for the children, and figured this is a healthy take away, but the last three times the order has turned up wrong, twice they apologised and replaced the missing parts, thought it was after we had finished eating.... the third they apologised and admitted fault then changed their mind saying they had done nothing wrong, being argumentative and very rude. I hadn’t asked for anything to be replaced or refunded, I just wanted to highlight the mistake made so it wouldn’t happen again.In short it is now over priced, standards have slipped and certain staff are just awful. Such a shame they have gone the way many business do when they become popular they don’t value their customers, push their prices up and their standards down... won’t go back again.

The place had a nice atmosphere and seemed to be run very well. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was fantastic and well priced. The lamb shawarma was especially great. Will definitely be going back again. Quick Tip: it's BYOB so if you'd like an alcoholic drink with your meal remember to bring some with you, or if you fancy a drink afterwards it's right next to a nice pub called the Gosforth Hotel.

Meal was superb as it always is. Unfortunately there was a bit of an accident this evening in that the chef (who is also the owner I believe) knocked a whole jug of water over me as he passed our table. The staff were wonderful and so apologetic and did all they could to rectify the situation. We got our meals for free as a result but left a large tip anyway as the food and service were first class. We'll definitely be back again 🙂

I have not been there and I will never go there. A friend of mine who I trust had a very bad experience with this restaurant and thus I would give it -5 if possible; it is the worst restaurant ever in terms of the honesty and respecting customers. They always try to add extra orders in the receipt (if possible), and also the prices shown in the receipt are usually higher than what printed in the menu. Always REMEMBER: If you try to deceive me, you don't deserve my money. This sort of restaurants must be shut down, or obligated to take coerces to know how to deal with customers. It is not recommended at all. Look for something else.
