4 friends for lunch and always found The Ava great. We spent over £200 ....hd lunch laughs and tears, as my Sister is ill and we all needed a chat. We were told to be quiet, by a young guy behind the bar... Really.... the place was dead very quiet Then told our table was reserved.... can we leave. Unbelievable....they took our booking for 14th December, but we will not be BACK. WHERE are all the old staff. Place is a joke Ps I've laughed at The Ritz , The Shard The Merchant..... The Ava pmsl

Lunch here regularly always spot on had a bad experience with the ploughmans lunch a few years ago wafer thin ham not good but decided to give another chance today Baked gammon/ham delicious as was everything else except the tasteless cheese slices like rubber how hard would it be to buy a big chunk of mature cheddar this would make this meal perfect Will be back interested on what you think of this suggestion

Spare of the moment lunch. Called in today my husband had Roast Beef Lunch and I had Scampi Chips both more than enough and delicious. We has Back Forest and Raspberry white chocolate frangipane both were lovely. The Staff Lee and Manager Philipe I hope that's right both where very helpful pleasant we will be back. Thank You

The Waiting staff are very friendly and attentive. If you ask for a recommendation they will be on hand to tell you it. The portions are a good size and the food is very tasty. The cocktail menu has lots of Choice and if you can’t see a cocktail you like on the menu they will always accommodate you. Good value for money and plenty of parking near by.

My friend and I visit for lunch regularly. The Ava is genuinely faultless. Food choice is great and quality of good is 5 star. The staff are efficient , welcoming and friendly. Have eaten in some other restaurants in Bangor recently and been very disappointed 😞 The Ava is consistently great, cannot recommend highly enough

On my way to the train after a walk decided to have lunch. Ordered fish and chips. The food was tasty enough nothing special. Have to say for a pint, fish, chips, mushy peas and two slices of bread was £25.35 bit OTT.

Chose here today as I haven’t been in a while! Service was prompt, staff were friendly. Got seated without booking. Family atmosphere. I had the banji burger and my friend had the sun dried tomato sausages with champ. Both were delicious. Quickly served! My friend had fruit pavlova, it was huge! Def be back :-)

There was 8 of us for dinner at 5pm. Most of us had the £19.99 special, where we had a mixture of Prawn cocktail, cheesey garlic bread and the Roast Beef as the main. The food was perfect and the service was excellent, eventhough it was busy. Well done. We will be back.

Booked last minute for Saturday brunch. Food, ambience, service and accessibility all top notch. I am using a crutch due to a broken ankle so needed some TLC. Really accessible and helpful staff. Would recommend it to anyone. The menu was clearly labelled for food intolerances, with absolutely loads of gluten free options ( which as a GF’er was great). Totally five star! Loved it!

A bit disappointed with my meal. I ordered a chicken tikka burger but there was no tikka flavour to it whatsoever. Staff very attentive, maybe a little too much. Mediocre at best.

24 of us from a Walking Club had dinner there yesterday evening. Our Leader rang in advance & pre-ordered all the dinners which was fantastic as within 15 minutes of our arrival the food was being served. One of my companions had seafood pasta which looked & tasted amazing & a huge portion. Another had the Summer lemon risotto which she said was delicious 😋. I had the steak sandwich which I was a bit disappointed with as it came with only half a ciabbata & 3 onion rings. Would have been far tastier with mushrooms & saute onions. The sweet potato fries were delicious. All in all, a bit expensive at £19.95 for a steak sandwich

Went for a family Sunday Lunch All staff very friendly. There was a set Sunday lunch menu and the regular menu. Good food and good service. Cocktails looked nice although we didn’t have any. Good atmosphere as the restaurant was busy. Would recommend and return.

The decor was very beautiful, the restaurant service fabulous they look after all . It was good to see disabled customers with family. The choice enormous very delicious. We had roast beef with the vegetables. The pudding for me was too much even for two. Well done

We were lucky enough to come across this great restaurant while wandering looking for somewhere for dinner. The food & service were second to none.

Was totally blown away by vegan options. The roasted whole cauliflower with tahini & tumeric was sublime. The chef here is innovative and really understands how to make vegan dishes come alive with taste, textures and presentation. I’ll definitely be back 🙌

Strong 11/10 Scallop starter to die for, better then any course we had in one of Belfast Michelin star restaurant. Superb pale smoked haddock main course made me lick my plate. Lovely local produce. Well presented and seasoned food. Smart flavour. Couldn’t recommended it more.

The Ava is a gem in Bangor restaurants scene. Food is always perfect and staff are always friendly and efficient. Never once had a bad meal in this establishment since it was taken over a few years back.The atmosphere is always pleasant, food is always 100% and its always a great meal out at the Ava.The menu changes throughout the seasons which is a nice touch, providing something different to choose from each time.

Had a good dinner here in January,staff were very helpful and the food was great,the prices were very reasonable too.

Sunday cocktails with a friend ! Went here yesterday to r some cocktails . Friendly staff, good service and yummy cocktails! There was also a guy singing which I thought was a lovely touch :-)

I booked a table for 12 adults and space for a baby's buggy. Thankfully they put us in the back room which was ideal. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. All 12 meals came out together and i believe everyone really enjoyed what they had. Some had steaks, scampi, chicken strips and gougons etc. The 2 course Sunday lunch menu was particularly good value at 2 courses for £14.95. We brought a cake which they brought out with candles aflame. All in all, we had a very relaxed afternoon and did not feel pressured to move on at all. There was live music in the main area which was good as it was in the background for us and enabled us to comfortably have a conversation.The food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxed and happy and i would certainly recommend this venue for a family meal/occasion.

We were staying in the premier inn across the road and The Ava was recommended to us. It was a very warm welcoming restaurant and we enjoyed the atmosphere. They seem to have a different set menu option for every night of the week. Monday was 'date night' but we ordered from the main menu instead. The portions were huge! and very tasty. We couldnt manage desert so stayed for another glass of wine instead. Staff were very helpful to talk to about the area.

Always get the feeling when coming in here that the staff is happy to see you. A friend and I visited for lunch and we both went for the ` To days special `, which was mushroom soup and the Fish Special. Both the starter and main course was very tasty. We also both had dessert, one of us the ice cream sundae and the other enjoyed the mixed sorbets. With 2 glasses of wine the total bill came to less than £ 53. The service is always very good here as well.

Boxing Day dinner with family ... had to send soup back as it was sour .. main was ok but not to Ava standards ... customer service was dire... plates were almost thrown down onto table .... very disappointed .... won’t waste another Boxing Day dinner be going here :(

Birthday get together at the Ava on Sunday. Great meal. The 2 course menu at £14.95 is terrific value. Main course of cod (delicious crispy skin) with risotto was so tasty, no additional seasoning required, great bite to the rice and the cod soft and perfect. Could eat it again right now. Roast beef, roast gammon, fish and chips, gluten free fish and chips all judged as delicious. Staff are friendly and just the right amount attentive. Highly recommend.

I visited here a few months back for my wifes birthday and we had a lovely time.

We had our first visit to the Ava on Christmas Eve and it did not disappoint. We were a group of 4 adults and 3 children and had booked Christmas Eve lunch at the Ava. From start to finish we had a great experience. The staff were excellent and the food was thoroughly enjoyable. The adults ordered chilli chicken, chicken goujons and 2 burgers and we all cleared our plates. The kids had foot long hot dogs and a burger, the portion sizes were massive and although they struggled to finish their mains they still had room for ice cream lol!

Had a wonderful meal here. Service and food were excellent & GF menu was good too. Lovely atmosphere very relaxed.

Went for famly meal waitress lovely barmanager rude christmas dinner lovely except couldent find potatoe sparce and sprouts hard as rocks ,not with bite as they say but rock hard and carrots like bolders just ruined .the prawns were cooking prawns chewy smithered in chilli sauce with dry wheaten,anyway will give it a miss ,no more ava food for me

Four of us booked for Xmas lunch, but it was expensive and poor quality. The chicken was tough and the batter on the scampi was greasy and chewy. No one asked how our meal was so I called one of the young lads over to complain.. “ I’ll tell the chef!” Yeah.. I’m sure that’ll sort it. No offer of replacement or refund! I don’t know how other reviewers can give this place 5 stars because it barely deserves 2. We won’t be back!!

19 november was my surprise birthday party in the AVA wine bar ! I most say a massive thank you to my friends for choosing this restaurant the food was amazing ,service was 1st class they even had balloons at my table i would happily recomend this restaurant to everyone, great atmosphere ! Very busy but staff where on the ball never had to wait for anything ps one friend a top chef was surprised at the high quality and presentation of the food.

... on Sunday night. Customer service was spot on. No issues. Same meal deal with same selections on offer so we both ended up ordering the same food as last time. Unfortunately we weren't as impressed by the standard of food. Have upped my rating to 4 stars however. Maybe hit and miss a bit with food? Not sure. Definitely an option if you're looking to eat out in Bangor. It is popular and the reviews are generally very good.

Visited the Ava on Sunday with my family for the lunch menu and once again had an amazing meal. All of the food ordered was absolutely delicious and the staff was also so knowledgeable and polite. A lovely place with great ambience....will definitely be back.

Booked here for a 50th birthday party for a work colleague. We asked not to be put out the back which they sorted and managed to put 12 of us in the main part of the restaurant on a busy Saturday afternoon. The staff decorated the area and had our balloons out on arrival. The food was fabulous - everyone was delighted. They let us move to a quieter table in the back area to continue on our party as we had been there for hours. Great food! Great cocktails! Great staff! - all in all a wonderful day!!! Very accommodating- very attentive. Would highly recommend

Called in and it looked and sounded great. 2 adults and 2 kids. Absolutely fantastic and the staff were very knowledgeable of the menu an friendly. We have recommended already, 1 hour after we left.

Bangor is very lucky to have such a lovely place to eat. I had the fish platter to share with my Dad and it was really tasty. Very quick service and excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. We will be back next time we come over from Scotland to visit family.
