The Authentic Thai Cuisine at The Nascot Arms Watford in Watford

Some of the best Thai food I've ever had and the staff are super helpful and friendly.

This is a pub, joined by a great Thai restaurant, Mr Ting, next door. Great atmosphere on game days. The only caveat is that if you want any food, they only have the Thai offering, no toasties or other hot snacks. But they have a good selection of crisps and peanuts.

I travel all over the world.I have visited Thailand many times and I am familiar with Thai cuisine. We have visited and enjoyed food at Mr Tings (Nascot Arms) pre covid. They reopened recently. We ordered Take away food for well over £100.00c and were looking forward to enjoying the food. A total disappointment. I ordered the following: Menu No 10. X 2 Supposed to be Tom Yum soup. This was just two prawns, a small tomato, a mushroom cut into four. Just plain water and salt. They have no idea what Tom Yum soup is. I score -99 out of 100. The whole lot ended up in the bin. Menu No 15. X1. What a disappointment. The whole serving ended up in the bin. Score 10 out of 100. No idea how to do this dish. Menu SP8. X 1. What a joke. Two Mussles, two prawns, 4 uncooked, stale, raw Thai aubergiens, two peices of squid (OK) and coconut milk. Do they have any idea about Thai cuisine. Score 10 out of 100. Menu 39. X 4. My ten year old grand child can cook better than this. Awful. All of it ended up in the bin. Noodles, prawns, chicken and just curry powder. Worst Singapore Noodles I have ever seen. I do not honestly believe they have a Thai chef let alone a chef. The food had been prepared by someone who has no idea about food and certainly no clue about Thai food. Will avoid this place like a plague. What a disappointment

Nice little local with Thai kitchen attached, worth a visit if local. Pub is quite traditional, small but spoilt by two large screens and oversized slot machine. Restaurant was busy so ordered and ate in the pub, OK but slowed the service down. Food is more authentic than some places, but over portioned and more rustic compared to the better Thais (none local). Would prefer better ingredients and smaller portion size, that’s not to say it wasn’t enjoyable. Worthy of a visit, if not a long journey to visit.

Mr.Ting's is one of the best meals I've ever had. If you like authentic Thai food, I cannot recommend this highly enough. If you can handle the heat, I HIGHLY recommend the Ga-pao Kai daow. There are some great non-spicy options too, especially the prawn crackers and fried chicken but it's nice to have the option of some authentic spicy Thai food! The duck is too sweet for me, but my friends really love it also. The service is lightning fast and the pub has a nice pub-y atmosphere to it.

Food was simply awesome. The Resturant is situated inside a pub and it was very busy when we went. Friendly service by the staff and food arrived on time. Definitely going back there again to try out new dishes. Thank you for a great experience!

A very nice pub which is usually quite busy as it shows all the football and occasionally the rugby. That said getting served isn't a problem and the bar staff are great, also they have a decent variety on tap. There's a nice Thai restaurant that uses a sizeable section of the pub and is extremely popular as well, the food is very nice

Mr Tings is such a great place! It's been going for years & always the same consistent high-quality of food. They're menu is substantially reduced after lockdown. But all the amazing classics like Thai green curry's, Massamum, Red Curry, Pad Thai etc are still there & cooked to perfection every time! Really amazing quality, quantity & reasonable prices! They can be quite quick to swipe your plates away which is the only think that brings this place down. Please let everyone finish eating before you do this 🙏🙏, it does ruin the atmosphere when it feels like your being rushed or your food gets taken when you pause for a chat. Definitely don't go to the toilet mid meal, your food will be gone! 😉

There aren't many 'real' pubs in the centre of Watford anymore, but the Nascot is a great little pub that's worth spending time in whether you're there for the excellent Thai food in the restaurant, or you're there just for a beer. The pub area is small so can get crowded, but it's always easy to get served as the staff are good. It's definitely got a cozy vibe. I'm not sure if the pub is dog friendly - I've been told in the past that I can't bring my dog in, but then other times there are people in the pub with dogs. 🤷‍♂️ The food in the restaurant area at the back is excellent. However, you'll need to book as the restaurant is very busy. You can order food to tables in the pub area though.

Pretty good visit to Mr Ting Thai restaurant which is within the pub itself. Good food fairly priced but the service was excellent. Difficult to park so walk in or get a lift.

Had a great xmas team lunch here on Friday and, as always, it was a great experience. Food is consistently good and very reasonably priced, about £17 pp for 5 entrées and 10 mains Great atmosphere and friendly staff in the bar and restaurant.

The Nascot has an excellent range of bitters that changes every week served by friendly and attentive bar staff. Whatever football happens to be on that night is shown on the several screens but somehow it doesn't overpower if you aren't into football. Mr Tings, the Thai restaurant part of the pub is similarly good. Whatever you order there will be to a high standard and you won't walk away hungry. An added bonus is that beers can be ordered and delivered to the table while you eat.

Such a fun Monday night at the pub quiz hosted by Baz! Had dinner at Mr Tings which was delicious Thai. Highly recommended the pad cashew

Nascot arms is always a dream! Football amazing atmosphere and then the best Thai restaurant for miles Mr Ting! Will never stop loving this place. The barman that served me tonight was so helpful and knowledgeable on his wines too. Highly highly recommend.

Management was very helpful and polite, Thai food was available which was very tasty and good value money, as the portion size was good, beer on tap also a range of bottled drinks, will be back again.....

A really lovely little boozer. Just off the beaten track so not too busy with football traffic, but in a nice enough are to get busy with a wide selection of sports on offer.

Delicious food, service a little slow and ambivalent but is a fast paced environment so cant complain.

I was really looking forward to this after the reviews but ended up very disappointed. I thought the food was very bland & overpriced. The Singapore noodles were tasteless, greasy & the worst I have ever had. Rice was served with the main dishes which was a nice touch.

Great Thai, would recommend, especially the Jungle Curry. Nice and spicy and full of flavour. Knocked one star as pork was a little dry (only a little so 4.5 stars really). Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent food and service with a smile as always. Best Thai food around the area. Warning - the Kua Hang Ta-Lay is extremely spicy! I was told this when ordering but still wanted to try. The mixed seafood in the dish was a lovely selection of seafood.

I visited the Nascot Arms this evening with my family. We had a superb meal with excellent service from the restaurant and the bar staff. It felt very safe with all staff wearing masks and covid precautions. The food was amazing as usual. It's great to be able to visit our favourite pub again.Thank youLucy and family

I usually visit often but I’m appalled by the food this time. I called and ordered 2 Thai green curries which I wanted to be spicy. I came to pick up the food and the man repeated my order and said mild. He went to the kitchen and came back 2 minutes later with my food which had apparently changed to SPICY. I came home and it literally tasted like water. I called and complained and had to go back in the freezing weather with my food to get it changed. This is when the interrogation starts! She greets me by showing me my new food and says if I complain again, they will not change it as that’s how they make it. She inspected my food and asked me why some of It was eaten ( atleast 3/4 of the food was packed up and sent back to them) honestly do you think I want to go back in the freezing cold to change it when I live more than 20 minutes away???? I’d rather not and just eat my food tbh. Bad service, bad food and rude staff that have no people skills and need lessons on customer service. Such a shame because this really used to be a gem in Watford

I was there to pick up a take away from Tings Thai the food was as excellent as ever.

Absolutely amazing food, every single time , it is simply the best Thai food in the South East!

Grabbed a take away for 5 of us on 14th Nov 2020. 10 out of 10 as always. Super food and lots of it for just over a tenner a head. Two further meals with left overs so really £ 7.50 a head on that basis. Been to several high quality Thai restaurants around the country this takes some beating and it’s a pub!

I have been to the restaurant several times and have never been let down! Really fresh Thai food at affordable prices. The customer service is really good too, I cant rate it enough.

Was good, now isn't. Food more expensive but no where near as good, and last meal was particularly bad.Last meal from here one dish had a massive spoon of paste in it, one dish had a horrible large lump of chicken skin.Did complain but no response at all.Real shame as used to be great and our goto place.

Un excellent resto thai dans un pub anglais! Pad thai pour moi, crevettes épicées pour mon fils, nouilles sautées au boeuf pour mon mari, dans une version plus qualitative que les stans de street food, ou nos restos asiatiques ordinaires. Prix tout à fait modérés,service un peu crispé (nous sommes arrivés tard et nous étions les derniers), globalement une belle découverte, conseillée par le logeur de notre fils.

All about the money!! When picking up my take away I only asked for a small bowl of prawn crackers whilst we finish off our drinks next door in the pub. Waiter was adamant and said no and said I’d have to pay extra despite us spending £40 on a take away. Literally prawn crackers cost pennies!! I would know as my family is in the restaurant industry. I also noticed that their prices had gone up quite a lot since the last time we ate there - up by at least 30%! I’m quite shocked at how it seems to be all about money now rather than affordable relaxed Thai cuisine anymore. This has put me off ordering from them again.

Great food, big doses and good environment

Had a take away, brilliant! Always too late to eat in, it is very popular, So a take away is a good option and we live quite close.

Waiter wearing mask was so very off putting, as far as I am aware there is no coronavirus in Watford. This put me of ordering any food. Seriously over the top

Lovely food. Informative waitress that double checked I was a vegetarian and got me a list of dishes without fish sauce. Traditional bar set up with some decent ales. Barman was a pro. Could do with updating the TV's as they all looked years old. Paying Sky £2k a month, seems silly to have bad TV's.

Very tasty big portions of food with lots of fresh flavours. It got very hot when busy and no space to go anywhere else in the pub section after we had finished eating. Friendly, helpful staff and wide selection of food.

Birthday celebration. Even though it was the Friday before Christmas, the service was excellent. Food delicious and no having to take a second mortgage out! Always busy, when you eat there you will understand why.😁

This is the restaurant that literally ate the pub - its twice the size of the pub its attatched to. It sees hugely popular for takes aways with a pager system for drinkers to know when their meal is ready,None of this effects the restaurant diners - the services friendly and helpful but the food is way below average - 2 of us shared a mixed starter - greasy fish balls, 3rd rate chicken in the satay, Of the main course had the s6 - spicy duck special - which really wasn't very special at all, The pad Thai tasted like it had 1kg of sugar added ( possibly accounts for all the noise from the pub? sugar rush?!)Bill was £92 for food and £20 for drinks - £112 for 4All in all parking is a 'mare, the place is overheated with no ventilation- will NOT return

Good quality, tasty lunch. On the pricey side for what’s available. Mains better than starters (tempura quite greasy). Separate bar in pub, so you get two bills. Limited parking outside (pay at meter).

Ate here at lunch time. The ambiance is ok but really like sitting in a traditional pub.service welcoming and nice to see Thai staff.

The best Thai food I've ever had outside of Thailand. Large portions, nicely presented and delicious. The staff were very attentive and friendly.

This is a really good Thai restaurant in a great traditional English pub. The Thai restaurant is segregated from the bars and run as an independent business by genuine Thai staff. As a result, you get two bills, one for the drinks and one for the food. The food is superb and you can buy proper beer to go with it (and anything else you might want to drink).

Quite a compact restaurant and always very busy - so make sure you book a table in advance. Food and service both excellent, with separate waiting staff from the pub bar coming in and taking drinks orders at your table. Fast turnaround between ordering and food coming to the table. First time visit to this place, i’d heard a lot of good things about it so thought we’d give it a try. We went on a Friday night after booking a couple of weeks in advance. It was so busy, obviously a very popular place! The food was very nice, I had the massaman curry which was tasty and fragrant. My friends all enjoyed their meals too. The staff we really nice, happy to cook my dish mild when I asked. The lady who served us our drinks went out of her way to accommodate us. All in all, a lively place with I liked. Hoping to go back again soon as I’d like to try the next thing on the menu.

The food is generally ok. I know several friends who have about this place, my experience is that it is ok, not much more. Maybe it's just me...

Great Thai restaurant, my favorite by far. I always struggle to choose from the menu because everything is delicious. Most of the times I choose the Masammun curry with chicken. Affordable meals, delicious, good quality. On top of that, there is a big variety of beers from the bar

What an awesome meal. We had papaya salad & veg spring rolls as starter. The papaya salad was the best I've had in the UK. We ordered one of the special fried rice with pineapples & raisins - it was incredible. We got a jungle curry, a spicy veg dish and a seafood dish. All dishes had incredible flavour and spicy enough for us "hotheads". Also a plessant thing to note is all dishes include steamed rice as well - just like the U.S. (finally!)

We go regularly to eat here since years back (6 to be exact) everyone working here is lovely besides one lady in the restaurant who seems always miserable to be working here and when you ask her the simplest of kind questions she answers in a very rude manner. It ruins every visit when we are unfortunate enough to have her and if she dislikes being in a customer service role this much she should change profession (I am in a customer service role myself). A real shame for this lovely place. The food is nice and good value for money but some dishes could do with slightly less garlic.

Heard nothing but good things about Nascot Arms and finally managed to get experience it first hand. Wonderful little place hiding behind st Alban road. Its shared with the pub on one side. We had to book in advance and it's no surprise why. Very popular and can get extremely busy. Lucky there was parking not too far from the pub. Staff are fantastic from the moment we entered. Service in general was quick but unhurried. The menu was clean with a great selection of dishes without over doing the choices. Food was stunning and plentiful. Extremely tasty. We had the the pork stirfry, special sea bass and mix veg and some pad thai too. That we packed!. Hands down I fully recommend a dinner at the Nascot Arms!

Eyes have been taken off the ball I fear.......food has become average, losing it's origin. Disappointing but not unusual.

This is a real gem, the food is fresh and delicious, and as it is in the back of a local Lynn, perfect to have a drink before the meal. I would highly recommend you book as it is always very busy, must be the great food

This is our regular spot when we fancy some quality thai food. Kitchen never fails to deliver. I wish they could expand and add some tables as there's always pressure to free up the table for the next customer.

DO NOT GO THERE. i can only put this down to the fact they never liked that i was black and with a white lady my girlfriend who is white decided to book the restaurant for my birthday. she went there in the daytime spoke to all the staff and said she wanted to surprise me with a cake after the meal so left the cake in the daytime. we attended the meal we was rushed into our order and then was not given the same complimentary snacks as everyone else on speaking to waiter he said he thought we had got the complimentary snacks? the service was terrible the attitude of staff we got a starter which came out ok. 20 mins later we still waiting for our main then my girlfriends came out and mine was delayed with the waiter telling me the kitchen staff are not seating there doing nothing my food then arrived and was thrown on the table complimentary crisp turned up with no dip like others had we decided the attitude of staff we made a complaint and was told never come back while the waiter stood there laughing at us i can only put it down to the fact they never liked that i was black and with a white lady

good food portion size just right not too big with plenty of flavour.Would most certainly eat there again
