Had Christmas lunch at The Atrium today, thank you to everyone, those who prepared our meal and those who served us it was brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, my dessert especially.

A good opportunity to support catering and front of house students whilst enjoying a night out Nice seasonal menu, well cooked and presented.

We support local and nationally hospitality where possible. After a Facebook campaign about how the students weren't getting the full hospitality experience. We opted for the spring menu evening. Very simple but classic food. 4 starters 4 mains 3 puddings We had asparagus poached egg and hollandaise Grilled Chicken with spring green fattoush Soft shell crab Mains Pan Roasted Lamb, new potatoes peas a la Francais and lamb jus Chicken Pot Pie sautéed potatos creamed cabbage Salmon fillet with asparagus, tomatoes, new potatoes with a creamy white wine sauce. Puddings Chocolate Mouse with white chocolate macarons Chaux pastry ring filled with fresh cream and seasonal and new fruit Lemon surprise, lemon sponge with a lemon sauce, severed hot with vanilla ice cream. They do them nights. Highly recommend

Just had another amazing meal at The Atrium. I went with my son for the special Chinese new year evening. As usual the atmosphere was just right, the service friendly and the seared salmon with noodles was out of this world - all for an amazing price. The house wine is always perfect too - lovely and chilled. We'll definitely be back!

We were bought a Groupon as a gift and were very pleased with it. Both the food and service were excellent and we both agreed it would be well worth the long drive to visit again.

I am a regular here with different groups of friends and am rarely dissatisfied with the service or the food. It is a training establishment so both the waiting staff and the chefs are students but I feel that their standard is very good, considering this. Opening hours are limited and the menu is small but it is very competitively priced and is worth seeking out. I particularly enjoyed the themed evenings on a Thursday which means a different cuisine each week with lots of new things to try. Normal price for this is £16 for 3 courses.

Went to The Atrium on 'Rock the Burger' night. Tables nicely spaced out and set out nicely. Students a little nervous to start but gained in confidence and were delightful. Food was excellent even my fussy son was impressed. Deep fried brie was delicious. 3 of us had burgers which were lovely especially the onion relish and 1 had Cajun chicken burger which she said was very tasty and not too heavy on the Cajun. Excellent onion rings, chunky fries and coleslaw. Carrot cake with orange sauce was delicious and with 2 rounds of drinks and using 2 Tastecards came to £55.00 for 4 people. Am going back for Diwali night and can't wait. Well done all involved.

Our first visit, four of us, and students first day, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and tables well laid, the students a bit unsure at first but as the meal progressed they grew in confidence. The food was excellent, had beef in black bean sauce with stir fried vegetables and rice, which was delicious. All the food chosen was well received, also like that there was English wine on the menu, which we enjoyed. If you like good food at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. We will return.

My husband and I visited for Thursday dinner. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately and handed the drinks menu. We chose a different cocktail each, an absolute bargain at £5 each. They were lovely too, very well presented. We were handed the food menu and chose our first two courses. Chilled cucumber soup for me and chicken and bacon salad for him. My soup was really tasty, well seasoned and with a swirl of cream. The main course was steak and chips for my husband, with freshly prepared onion rings and homemade steak sauce. I had the stuffed peppers and buttered rice. As a vegetarian I wasn't impressed by this choice, which was really boring and uninspired. It was well cooked so nothing to do with the chefs, more an issue for the person deciding on a veggie option. Also, it wasn't a balanced meal as no protein to speak of (three tiny chunks of cheese only). Our desserts were exceptional, pannacotta for him and mille feuille for me. Both presented beautifully and tasting lovely. I loved the bunch of plump redcurrants decorating the plate, really tasty. A coffee to finish and we left the restaurant keen to return another time.

Our fourth visit and we were not let down! Great choice of Burgers, even a vegetarian option. The service was good for us, but we noted another table not so well waited upon. We have seen the waiting staff grow in confidence and everyone is friendly and helpful. We are well aware that this is a training environment but the food remains excellently presented and of good taste. We have already booked for another theme evening. WELL RECOMMENDED

Had a 3 course meal this evening, food was delicious and of excellent quality. Service good and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We were very impressed and have already booked to return. Keep doing what you are doing!

Went here last night for Mardi Gras night. Was brilliant. Real effort and gone into setting the tables. The food was amazing, couldn't fault it. Would rival any top restaurant. You know the student's put their hearts and souls into it and that's what makes it so special. The waiting staff were great, especially Sarah. Nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly. Relaxed atmosphere and good drinks menu. Well done keep it up. Look forward to returning.

Went with a friend and was very impressed with the service and food. Went with a groupon voucher which was a bargain for 2 people. Only thing I’d say is more seasoning on the battered plaice, was a tad under seasoned. Love the noodles and chicken in the omelette.

Much more supervision of the kitchen and front of house staff is needed, as they are still learning and very much left to it and without guidance they won't learn. To improve this all guests should be asked for feed back or be given a comment sheet to hand in at the end. If they want a top job when they leave attention to detail is vital. Here is what we observed on the night and constructive criticism should help the students to improve as the term goes on. No napkins on the table when we arrived so we asked for some. The Prosecco was just left unopened on the table and no ice bucket provided, so we asked for it to be opened, after they went to look for some fizz glasses. The menu said pulled pork but it arrived looking very much like pork belly, the chef must be made aware of what is on the menu and stick to it. I hope this helps and things improve on my next visit.

Found this local student lead restaurant at Hertford regional college. Great food great service modern looking restaurant highly recommend

My wife and I spent a delightful evening this week at the Atrium. It was a Groupon gift and we were looking forward to it. Have to admit some slight trepidation on knowing that it was a college trading restaurant but our fears were instantly allayed on being greeted by the friendly and helpful hostess. Our waitress was a delightful young lady who’s name I am ashamed to admit I have forgotten. She was attentive and ready to answer questions about the menu which she did with great knowledge. The food was very good and I have to say, quite unusual, my starter being kidneys, a dish seldom seen on menus these days but was delicious. Obviously there are a few ‘rough edges’ to be smoothed with the students, but they seem keen and interested to learn. Drinks were good value with a large glass of Malbec at £4. All in all, a success and we wish good things for these young students.

only found the Atrium by chance but glad we did, booked a table and were met by our waitress who knew my name nice touch, food was good and well presented my wife had the salmon which was a little cold so asked to warm up which was done with no problem and arrived nice and fresh ( not microwaved) the Atrium is run by students and is a pleasant place to eat good value well recommenced will go back

as per usual the food was excellent staff very good we've been before and it didn't disappoint with the service

We were greeted at the door by Holly our waitress for the evening and shown to our table. Holly gave us the menu and explained that after our starter and main we could then taste one or as many puds as we wished. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. There was a nice relaxed feel and we were made to feel welcome. The only negative was that the background music was a little loud. A big thank you to Holly and Team at the Atrium, can't wait to come back!

We have been there before. Each time is different food. This time was Italian. Lovely food, good presentation. All food and drinks are prepared by trainees /students so they do get things wrong. Usually it's it major. ( forgetting to bring spoon for soup, or serving from wrong side..) but food is always of the high quality. At least what we always had. Helpful and willing to help.

This was our first visit to the Atrium, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was presented beautifully, and it tasted as good as it looked. And what a bargain for Friday lunch!

My first visit. I didn’t expect such a lovely venue to be within the college. Nice ambience and comfortable with tables well spaced out. The young staff were most pleasant. It was an American night with appropriate decor and menu. There were 3 choices for each of the 3 courses. It was well cooked and presented. Most enjoyable and I would certainly recommend it. Very good value. Thank you guys. Well done.

The young front of house staff were very good the food was well prepared And very tasty you can not beat this place for price and cleanliness l wil be going Again soon

given that it is a college I guessed slightly what to expect but it was excellent value

We went on a Thursday night and had a good meal. The key to enjoying this venue is remembering that that all the staff are students and are learning. Having said that, although those doing front of house were a bit disorganised (due to nerves as it was their first time) they were polite and friendly and tried hard to please, the food was lovely. it was well cooked and well presented. Local people should definitely support this venture, you will get great food and help some students achieve their goals. give it a try.

We have just been to our local training restaurant. What a treat lovely food with lots of flavour,in a nice setting. You must try it then like me you will want to go again.

The food is superb and very reasonably priced.Only open for a short while at lunchtime so good idea to book.Three courses for less than £14!Presentation also extremely good.Just a shame that the wine is a little on the expensive side.

We booked there as it was recommended and we were not disappointed. Presentation and the quality of the food was really high standard. Considering these are the students cooking and serving. The Service was excellent, professional, helpful. We had St. George's 3 course menu which we asked to be emailed to us before we came.

Today had a superb meal. A very tasty Italian starter, then exquisite stuffed chicken, followed by a lovely plum tart. My spouse had the same except an Easter egg cheesecake for dessert. It was tasty, well presented, adequate portions, welll served and an excellent price

What a super location. The students excelled themselves with a lovely lunch followed by a superb gateaux Paris-Brest topped with spun sugar.

Having been to the Atrium before I took my son and daughter in law for lunch.again I (and they) were very impressed with the meal.we each had 3 courses which were all prepared to a high standard and at a very reasonable cost. The waitresses were most friendly and attentive. As will be realised this restaurant is at a college where all the students prepare and serve the meals. Highly recommended.

We had a superb Lunch last Wednesday at the Atrium. The food was cooked to perfection, with reasonable portions, but not too much. The Students who cooked, waited and served drinks were very professional and friendly. Our thanks to Seal and his fellow students. We were a large party of around 30, and my only criticism would be that the restaurant was over full and the waiters could not get between the tables. I Will certainly come again and recommend the Atrium.

Our 3 course christmas lunch was fantastic! The baileys cheesecake is to die for!!! Seal and his fellow students were very professional, polite and had great customer service. The food was amazing!!!! You have to go and try the restaurant, its a top place to go and eat :-)

The meal was excellent, theTurkey tasted of Turkey and the homemade Christmas Pudding was excellent, best i've tasted for a long while.Service very good, just two minor concerns.

Went yesterday lunchtime with my work colleagues and we had the most delicious meal. Very tasty and probably the best value meal you'll get in Hertfordshire. The highlight for me was the rich/creamy parsnip and apple soup with roughly chopped chestnuts hiding inside, although the Baileys cheesecake was just as delicious. Very attentive service but they let us get on with our meal. Portion sizes were spot on. Left feeling stuffed nonetheless!

Second time , lovely food and the waitresses were all lovely and really helpful. Well done to all the students-staff in the kitchens and front of house. We will be back next year

I was at The Atrium,HRC this lunch time with a group of friends from St Augustines Close for our Christmas dinner...it was my first visit & most definitely won't be my last!! The food was amazing & beautifully presented by wonderful,attentive young ladies!! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals & thank you all for an amazing memorable time!! Had a lovely Christmas meal with colleagues at the Atrium at HRC. The food was amazing and one of the best traditional christmas dinners I have had anywhere. The quality was superb! Compliments to the chefs, students and restaurant staff. I even had a lovely birthday surprise too which was a nice touch.

Had a great evening at the Atrium on the 3rd November. The steak was one of the best I have had and the other courses were delicious too. Good atmosphere and we will definatly be back.

Took a group of friends for a birthday meal. 'Taste of the deep south' was the theme and everything was great. Corn on the cob with chilli butter, slow cooked beef brisket with slaw, pulled pork, onion rings and chocolate cake with caramel ice cream. Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was great. The students are a credit to the college and we will definitely be back. My wine drinking friend said the Sauvignon Blanc was delicious. 2 'Tastecards' gave us a £35 reduction from the bill so meal for 4 was less than £55.00 Great value highly recommended.

2nd visit here and had another great night fish and fizz nicely presented and cooked well and a great taste 10/10 we will be back

Great place for works party, great area outside with dodgems and big wheel. Plenty of room , don't feel all huddled together. One thing I would Moan about is the bar, had to wait ages to get served. Apart from that a great place

What a lovely place! Very friendly, light and airy, and a chilled atmosphere. There were 10 of us ladies, who get together for lunch and decided to try here. The food was very good, well cooked, well presented and very enjoyable. Our only negatives were that the white rolls were slightly hard, and the music was slightly a little too loud for chatting.All round, well done to all, as we know that this is a training restaurant, but we werent treated any different. The cost was also very good, we even were able to use our Tastecard to pay. Will definately be back!.

We went to the excellent Greek Taverna evening and we were blown away by the flavours. The mocktails are really fun and a great option on the drinks menu! We had 5 courses, all for just £17.50, and the quality was so good. The two boys doing front of house were really attentive and fun. Nothing was too much trouble and they were really prompt with their service. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, with candles and a small bouquet on the table and soft background music. The staff and students are doing an exceptional job at The Atrium and I hope they're really proud!

Wow. Finally got the chance to go here on a Thursday evening after hearing great reports on the place. We wasn't disappointed. The decor was warm and inviting, the young waiters and waitresses were fantastic and the food was out of this world. So unusual and different. My taste buds were going mad. Food was exceptional. Would rival any top London restaurant. Can't wait to go again!!!!

I had lunch here with a friend. Although there was a fair choice of starters and mains, we both went for the same: prawn tempura to start with, and then Duck in a cherry and brandy sauce with parmentier potatoes and green beans. Both were excellent, certainly up to the standards of many mid range restaurants I've eaten at. The price for both of us including 4 bottles of sparkling water was £24, which I thought excellent value for money. The service was very slightly eccentric, but friendly, and considering that our waiting staff were on a Level 1 hospitality course, it is churlish of me to even mention it, really. My only other slight criticisms is that he tables are a bit high for the chairs (or vice versa) which wasn't too much of an issue for us 6 footers, but I could see 2 ladies of a certain age who were struggling a bit.

It is several years since we last visited this college restaurant and were pleased to see that the standard has not slipped.We were served by a couple of first year students who will certainly go far in our opinion although a little nervous to start with which is quite understandable at this stage but warmed up as we chatted to them.The meal was of a really high standard and the presentation excellent.Of course the value was incredible which is a big bonus.Their tutor came over to speak to us after the meal and ask for our comments which we thought was really good.The venue is very light and airy and a good atmosphere and it appears that there is a lot going on with themed evenings etc so we asked to be put on their web site for future visits.

I have been to lunch here with girlfriends several times, and have always had a great experience. The students are polite, professional, efficient, and a credit to their college and tutors. The food is excellent, very well cooked and presented, and the menu is always varied

Four of us had lunch in the Atrium last Tuesday, the first for quite a while! We truly were delighted, the look of the place, the welcome by charming you people, and the delicious meal all added up to a great experience. The food presentation , and quality compares very favourably with several high class restaurants we have visited,so, very well done.

These staff are FAB. Polite, good manners & professional . I LOVED my spaghetti lunch today.It was my first time here for lunch, but it won't be my last.... Myself and 3 friends had lunch on Wednesday. The food was delicious, we have dined at some first class restaurants in London and, I must say the meal we had was exceptional. Many thanks to Alice who was extremely pleasant and helpful with all our queries.We will certainly return.

Last week I took my friend here for her birthday, there was a group of us. The meal we had was absolutely delicious. Great service by a aviation student Ella Barnes. She was friendly, professional and had a lovely mannerism. I would highly recommend, you just wouldn't believe the level of the food comes from students!

Had lunch in the Atrium in early December food was xmas lunch turkey and all the trimmings it was very nice so we thought we would go again in January which we did yesterday and had a very nice meal.Students serving the meal were very polite and did there best to please.We are returning again at the end of January with friends and are looking forward to going.We will definatly be trying the themed evenings.

Well, what an experience- smooth from end to end- literally when it came to the cupcake toppings :-) Friendly, timely service. Presented beautifully and most importantly tasted fabulous- moist sponge and delicious topping with rainbow layered colours as detailed in the spec- they even had a rainbow icing topper.Many thanks to all,Kind regardsKelly

The food, service and welcome was fantastic. We had a large party and nothing was too much trouble. If you live locally and haven't tried it, you are missing out.

Top class treatment. The birthday cake for one of our party of 10 was an added bonus. We will all be returning in the New Year.

Visited with friends for the Christmas lunch time menu. What a feast! The atmosphere is sophisticated without being stuffy. Food is terrific and service first rate. Really enjoyable meal at an amazingly reasonable price. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

This is the fourth time I have been here but the first for a couple of years.Five of us booked for Christmas dinner and at £25 for three courses, petite fours, coffee and a palate cleanser it is very good value for money and very good food.You do have to bear in mind that students are cooking and serving. Whilst the food has always been very good, the service can be interesting at times. It is just small things like leaning across you to get plates for those sitting next to you.We have always had a good time and given helpful and constructive comments back to the staff and students. Even Gordon Ramsey had to start somewhere.You can even use the Gourmet card here!

Just had an excellent 3 course Christmas lunch at The Atrium. Food was beautifully presented, and good quality. We were a party of ten and had pre-ordered our meals, all three courses served very efficiently and no one had to wait. Tables decorated festively, Christmas crackers for everyone and seasonal music in the background. The waiters and waitress all did really well, we were told they were all first and second year students and they are to be commended. Well worth a visit.

Went for Christmas lunch yesterday, how lovely. Waitress's all good and helpful. Food was brilliant, beautifully presented, tasted great. For saying they are all students they did a really good job.

The student chefs have definitely mastered the art of Indian Cuisine and should be commended for their 'take' on a flavoursome curry and it's complimentary side dishes. Beautifully cooked and delivered and (as always) excellent value for money. The students and their tutors should be very proud.

The Atrium is an unusual restaurant, staffed by students of Hertford Regional College who do all the catering, serving, etc, under the direct supervision of expert instructors. Advanced students are encouraged to design a theme for evening diners, such as Caribbean, Asian, etc. The restaurant is open during college term times, for mid-day lunches and evening meals. three courses are normally served, though of course this isn't compulsory, and as with any restaurant you can have 1, 2, or 3 courses. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are served as required, and sometimes cocktails are served - particularly on themed evenings. Mid-day lunches cost around £7.00, and evening meals around £13 for 3 courses. The restaurant is quite pleasant and spacious, and there is normally adequate free car-parking in the adjacent college car-park. On the whole it's an interesting and enjoyable experience, being served by young, enthusiastic students of catering, and hopefully helpful to them achieving future employment. My wife and I have dined there many times, including celebrating birthdays, etc.

Good food at a good price. Don't go here if you are expecting a top professional service. They are students who are still learning with some at different levels to others. I had the Melon Orange Cranberry Grape and Mint salad for starters which was very refreshing and well presented. I then had the Ratatouille Stack for the main, very nice. For pudding I had the Souffle which went down very well. The coffee is sourced from a local supplier (Lulu in Ware) which I have frequented separately which makes a change from all the main protagonists.

Ate here tonight. Service too casual verging on lazy. Food very mediocre. I hate to leave this review but it has to be said. Triple cooked chips soggy and under cooked. Steak very poor quality. Will not be returning.

We went to the Atrium for the 2nd time, this time with my parents, for Caribbean night. The menu was really interesting and the flavours sounded fantastic, which is why we chose this night. They're also really clear with the gluten free options, which makes things easy for me!The service was great - the students really seem to want to do their best and are really well mannered. Often, those serving are usually chefs and they're taking it in turns so they can see what it's like to serve, too. Great idea. The food was nice. We all agreed that the starters and desserts were the best. The main's were all a bit dry and lacked the flavours the menu promised. They had a hint of them but unfortunately didn't really come through. We chatted with one of the students as he came over to clear our plates and he was appreciative of the feedback - they're there to learn, after all. One of our mains got a bit mixed up, which they rectified pretty much straight away once we'd alerted them. The starters were really tasty and flavoursome. Most of us had the jerk chicken wings.My Dad and partner ordered the Caribbean inspired cheesecake for dessert and they loved it - so did my Mum (it wasn't gluten free, so I'll take their word for it!). She changed her order at the last second and wished she hadn't! We had a mango fool with ginger sable biscuits. The fool was a little bland for my personal taste, but the gluten free biscuits were delicious. So light, too. My favourite thing out of the night. I told our waiter this and he was really chuffed as he'd made them that morning. Overall, it was a good night and we'd all go back. It really helps the students and more often than not, you can have some really tasty food. And all at fantastic value for money.

We were really excited about coming here as we really liked the idea of a student-led restaurant. However, we came on a Spanish themed night where you ultimately had options of three different types of paella. To be quite frank, none of them were particularly nice, which was quite disappointing. The rice was quite bland and the whole dish felt quite stodgy. The pudding was quite nice and the service was lovely, but the food wasn't as delicious for us as other people have experienced. I'd be sure to ask what's on the menu before going. If we are ever back in the area, we'd love to give it another go, just to be sure that we just landed on the wrong theme!

This is not only great food, great service and great value but it helps the students on the road to a future.Highly recommended

Despite the restaurant being fully booked, we were provided with a high level of service and a perfectly prepared meal. I couldn't fault anything or anyone.The students were professional but also friendly and approachable.We will definitely be visiting The Atrium in the non too distant future.

We visited the The Atrium on a Thursday evening and the food quality was what I would expect in the final of Masterchef. The service and ambience was second to none and I can't wait to go again and would most definitely recommend this to others.Fantastic food with a superb service.

We were a little dubious about eating at a college restaurant but the food and atmosphere were both amazing. The menu has a choice of options and is fantastic value at £12.95. We opted for the French onion soup, pork belly with olive mash and sticky toffee pudding. The waitress, also a student was very attentive. The evening we went there were some students performing acoustic music which was a lovely touch. Stuart, the lecturer/front of house was clearly very passionate about food and his students. I would definitely go back and wish them every success.

We visited The Atrium lunch time today......wonderful. The food was excellent which matched the service we received. A very friendly atmosphere. The decor was smart and upmarket. When leaving we rebooked for next Thursday evening .we are taking 4 friends as it is a special menu it should be great. Roll on the 7th of May .

Yesterday my friend and I visited The Atrium restaurant at Hertford Regional College.We could not believe how good it was, the students were friendly, engaging, clean and smart. The restaurant was beautifully laid up and also very clean, bright and airy.The menu had great choices, we struggled to decide what to eat. The drinks menu is also fantastic with lots of good choices, both menus are very competitively priced.Every course was presented beautifully and everything had so much flavor.The service was quick but not rushed, I am blown away by just how good the lunch was.Don't be put off by it being in a college. It really was one of the best lunches I have had in a long time and the students and manager are lovely.I would absolutely recommend this lovely restaurant. It deserves 6 stars.

All meals are cooked and served by students and what an eye opener as to the excellence of their culinary expertise. Without doubt A MUST TRY.

This restaurant in the college has a well thought out menu, stylish and interesting.The service is professional and efficient.The food tasted fantastic, great portion sizes and well worth the money (in fact too cheap for what you get!)Looking forward to going back again
