The Aspen Tree in Redbridge

rude staff filthy doors and tables....poorly run establishment...local people have left in their droves...

I work in a care home ,we use the aspen tree, to take our residents out for lunch ,the pub is always so Accommodating Reserving tables for our residents who are all in wheelchairs ,the staff is friendly and kind very polite, the landlady is so lovely and always spends time with us and makes sure everything is good The food is fantastic and never have to wait too long ,,i would definitely recommend coming here for lunch ,evening meal or just for drinks

Booked table for 4 a week ago. Arrived last night to be told “sorry kitchen’s closed, I was meant to ring people but been too busy”.. takes 2 minutes to make a phone call! . Ordered 3 large glasses of wine whilst waiting for our friend but was then told “ we can offer you a complimentary drink”. So, as we asked originally for 3 large glasses of wine, said can we have a bottle of wine (cheaper and equivalent to 3 glasses) to be told “no, you can have 3 small glasses 🤦‍♀️. And just to add insult to injury, served them in large glasses. Basically we all got a thimble of wine. This was my second visit since the pub was taken over by Green King. Went for lunch a few weeks ago, just wanted a sandwich. There was a choice of about 4, 2 of which were chicken. Friend and I ordered the southern fried chicken roll. It tuned up in the middle of a plate with just that, on its own, no salad nothing, it looked pretty pathetic. Been going for years to this pub as it’s local but have to say the old Aspen menu offered so much more. Thankfully, managed to get a table at the Orange Tree as we were all starving! Love what they’ve done with the place but won’t be rushing back.

Lovely food excellent price all round a nice pleasant pub that’s great value for money nicely decorated and comfortable

I had lived in Collier Row for about 20 years, always tended to avoid this Pub. Looking for recommendations to take my Aunt for Sunday Lunch. Saw the positive reviews since taken over and decided to take a chance. Wow was I impressed. Decor was lovely and a real welcome by all the staff and some of the regulars as well !! . We ordered the Sunday Roast (Turkey). This arrived pipping hot, 4 different types of veg plus roasties & mash. It was absolutely lovely - probably one of the best roast dinners I have had in a pub. Will definitely be back.

Came here with my girlfriend. The bar tender and manager was happy to top up her wine with lemonade when she thought she didn’t have enough in it to make it a spritzer. The lady serving her at the bar was happy to make suggestions regarding our dinner choice and the manager was extremely polite before she then went on to host a fabulous quiz night! Please ensure you give them recognition as we had a fab evening! We will defo be back!

The atmosphere here is amazing. A great feel of a proper english pub, with the elegance of a five star restaurant. My meal was astounding, everything cooked, presented and served to perfection, accompanied with a lovely pint of cider. I will suggest this place to all my friends and family and encourage everyone to pay this gorgeous place a visit. You will not be disappointed!

I have visited the Aspen on a number of occasions over the past month. Newly refurbished it is a clean and well laid out pub with ample outside space for the warmer months in summer. The beer is always “up to scratch” and the food & drinks are excellent value for money. The host Rem could not be any nicer or better as a Manager. Both herself and all the staff are “top drawer”. A year ago I was told to stay away from this location as it had, apparently, a bad reputation. If this was the case then things have certainly changed, for the Better ! If you are looking for value in both food and drink, or fancy watching sports in a separate area then do yourself a favour, this is worth a visit or two. A big well done to all the staff and Green King.

Once again me and the wife had a Sunday roast from here, we took it home on proper plate and we both agreed that it was spot on. If you look at my past posts you will see that I am very critical and believe that if it is good you should let people know, also if it is bad let them know that. The menu has been shortened but the food has gone up a level. Staff as normal are polite and keen. This place is worth a visit.

Popped in before the football to have a quick dinner then home for the footy! Staff were soooo welcoming and attentive and the food was really really good to be honest! Price was more than value for money and portion sizes were excellent! I believe the managers name may be Remmy and if so your doing a great job in this newly refurbished venue! We will be back!

Excellent Steak dinner last night. Value for money on food and drinks. Massive portions. 2 bars. One for a quiet chat and drink. Other more the “sports” bar. Pool table and big screens for the football. Would recommend for all.

What fantastic value for money! I fed a family of 6 a two course meal, had a couple of beers and still got change from £60! Staff and service were also great. Well done Remi.

I’m not normally one to leave reviews but I’ve been going to the aspen tree since I was 15- 20 years later you still can’t find a better local pub/ restaurant- a huge menu to suit EVERYONE, a wide range of spirits and wines, huge tables to fit large groups for any celebration!! I have always found that the staff couldn’t be more helpful- and the prices are well within budget, all of the above are so hard to find nowadays we are lucky to have this pub so close to us!

Was seated immediately and within 5 minutes was eating some of the juiciest steaks I’ve had. Waiting staff was exceptional with our waiter Alfie being brilliant in advising me with the pubs deals. Would recommend to anyone nearby.

I really enjoyed my visit I was welcomed by the manger at the host stand who talked me threw track and trace and then took me to my table which had a I am clean sign which made me feel reassured that it had been cleaned as i have been self isolating for the last couple of months even thought I was alone I was treated the same as everyone else I was given the option of ordering at the bar or threw the greene king app which I choice to do so my drink was delivered within 5 minutes and was given to me on a tray so I could remove my drink myself I then ordered food threw the app which came within 15 minutes and was piping hot I enjoyed my visit and I felt safe and that my exit was clearly marked for me to use I will be returning and would bring others with me in future

this is the 3rd time visiting this place. firat time half of the menu was out of stock so couldnt order but though ok try second time. staff on the first visit was nice liked the app ordering. second visit the steaks were mega dey and over cooked suppose to be medium hut was over cook and returned hardly touched. 3rd time which was tonight though take the kids and just a light family meal. hardly anything to order when you did order your meal came with half of the items missing for full price paid. hardly anything in to order. had to ask for knife and forks and condiments. ended up ordering the kids meals only as not much to choose from. and then having to leave because the food made one of the kids puke. never again. stay away from this place.

First visit here, so wasn’t sure what to expect, but so glad we gave it a go.Firstly such a friendly place, almost treated like family, we felt valued and appreciated- this is something money can’t buy- but your crew here at Aspen Tree have it in bucketloads.Food was exceptional, especially for a pub- hubby had a massive mixed grill- he will definitely be back for this again. Desserts great- I tried the new Black Forest pie one - wow didn’t disappoint!!!Thanks for a most enjoyable evening.

Just had a lovely meal in this pub. Food was very tasty and plenty of food for the price. Drinks were delivered to the table. Staff was very friendly, kind, polite and most helpful. Even let one of our children take home the rest of her food she couldn’t eat in a little box. Would definitely recommend this pub any day of the week. We all had a fantastic evening. On returning here after lockdown, They have great measures in place. Sanitiser stations scattered around the pub. Staff in ppe. Felt comfortable and at ease on our visit. Food great as always

My family and I have come here often changing from the local Wetherspoons to the aspen tree due to the lovely atmosphere & the friendly staff, the food is always amazing and a special mention to Jo for making each night we come very funny and memorable.

Went for a meal for my nieces birthday, 22 of us in total, we all ordered our meals when they came out the smothered chicken was cold and we had 4x double breasted and 1x normal, we ended up eating it due to being hungry and not being able to speak to a waitress, plus they then ran out of chicken breasts so wouldn’t be able to have another, when we eventually told the waitress they were all cold she said she will speak to someone and let me know but never came back,

A proper local boozer with friendly staff. You can’t beat a bit of BOGOF Greene King grub. 🍔🍔🍔🍔 The food is better than some of the places I’ve been to in London.

We have been to the Aspen Tree pub many times, and Jo who is a waitress there, has always been so accommodating. Really helpful, getting us a table even if we want a bar snack. Lovely, cheerful smile when we visit and always thinks about her customers.

Had a great experience at the aspen tree today! Very busy lunch service but the staff were fantastic in dealing with our group of 14! Food and service was fantastic and everything we needed was catered for by jo and her team including a little birthday surprise for the birthday girl herself Thanks jo xx

I was here yesterday, not eating but for pre Xmas drinks. The staff were friendly and the service was swift and fantastic. My friends that had dinner said it was also great.

Went here to save cooking. Had a look at the menu and couldn’t decide what to eat, the menu has a lot to offer. ‘Big plate Tuesday’ £5, wasn’t quite sure what we could order so I called over the man in charge who shown us what we could chose. He was so helpful. Ordered the gammon meal. It arrived in no time at all and it was piping hot. Such a huge meal. It was really nice. Great pub grub and very nice staff

I went here with my mum for dinner tonight. The service we received from staff was excellent, especially from Joe. She made us feel very welcome, served us swiftly and made great conversation. We will be heading back very soon. I'm very happy that this is my local pub.

I visited here tonight with my daughter and we had a wonderful time. We are very lucky that this is our local pub as the staff are always happy to see us. They remember our usual drinks round and also serve us quickly. We always receive a warm welcome especially by Joe. 5 stars all around!

Love this pub. Excellent service, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Great night at their Motown night and Remeni is a brilliant landlady. She gets involved but you know she is has her finger on the pulse. She knows what's what. Always enjoy going to The Aspen Tree.

Came here one day on my own, was supposed to meet friends but they didnt turn up, so i sat alone, the staff were very friendly and attentive the food was good and great prices, i had the burger combo, it was massive, its a shame i had no one to share it with but i tried my best. The staff were very nice to me and did their best to talk to me even though i was alone. I Think ive found some new best friends in the aspen tree team and the manager was nice, and i sung musicals with jo i believe her name was, great voice, can hear it across the pub

I have never been somewhere that I have had to send a meal back twice because it had not been cooked properly and chicken was served cold when it should be sizzling hot.

this pub attracts a certain person ie undesirable its a pub or social club for people on the social !!!! staff are like the walking dead with innits n yeah mates if u wish to be victimised yobs n tattooed idiots with staffs then this is the dive for you ....

This has gone downhill dramatically in the last year. It’s become filthy and people are in the smoking area smoking weed in front of security so says it all really!! The meals are cheap but what you get is cheap heated up food.

Once again, we had our Thursday special of big Plate Special fish and chips and salad.

We had a lovely meal that was very good quality in taste and presentation and because of the discount voucher was very well priced. The staff were all extremely friendly as was the manager who served us at the bar.

Had fish and chips , very nice and good value, made better by having a 40% off voucher. As thos is my local I do then to go here a few times a year for eating, all the food is good, the sunday roast is my favourite.

This us the I li place I'll eat mac and Chesse but tuiz time portion of it was quiet small for a adults I didn't eat salad as doesn't really mix well with mac the wait was a bit long got here at 2.15 got the food at half 3

Went here with a Group of friends for Christmas lunch. I was pleasantly suprised by how good the meal was. I had pate to start, traditional turkey dinner and brownie with compote. The pate was delicious and served with a small salad and toast. The turkey meal was well presented and cooked, only one piece of turkey was a little dry, but overall the meal was delicious, and good portions. The only thing about the brownie that it should read compote with brownie. The compote completely overwhelmed the brownie, which was a great pity. The service by the waiter was excellent and he served the table of 14 people alone, yet no-one was kept waiting. When we asked for water he not only bought a jug for those of us who asked but bought anothe two jugs for the other members of the party. Excellent service and the meal was more than adequate and moreover was hot.

We popped in for a Sunday lunch and shown to a choice of tables, ordered drinks at the bar, good selection of draft ales on tap, plus the normal lagers, ciders and wines. Then we went through the menus, okay, all was not clean, some of the menus had diner from the night before spread across then, this is a simple check and clean before opening because if the menu is dirty then what else?

Me and the mrs have been here for food before and the variety is great. Came here on the 7/12/18 for a drink for the first time and we’re very impressed, the staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. Definitely recommend to friends.

Been here 3 times and found the meals delicious and value for money. We have tried many other places in the past and this one beats them all. Sunday dinner was excellent too!

Popped in here for lunch today, ordering a main meal offers a starter of sweet for free! The battered halloumi starter was so large it would have done us both and the mains, from the big plate specials range filled us up so much, we won't need to eat tonight. The food is always good quality, hot and very tasty.

I am a frequent visitor of Hungry Horse restaurants, my family and I feel that their pubs/restaurants are very family friendly and great value for money.

We popped on for our usual Saturday fish and chips and was delighted with the new menu. Although we chose our favourite fish and chips, the price doesn't include a sweet now so at least we could just about finish the mains without having to try and eat a lovely sweet that we didn't really need.

I went with a girlfriend for lunch. it was very nice, the staff are very good and friendly, with a good selection on the menu, I am sure we will return

Excellent food prepared on premises and a great welcome from those behind the bar. Lively family venue and reasonable prices for everything. Different meal deals on different days of the week and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble.

We really enjoyed our meal at Aspen Tree, it's not high end..but asty..big portions and good value.

I ordered the crispy chicken which was a tiny bit over cooked and I informed the staff of this. It was no trouble for her to return it to the kitchen and brought me a fresh meal. It was delicious. A really large meal too. Two delicious pieces of chicken, perfectly cooked chips, corn on the cob, peas and onion rings. Thank you to the staff for this and their friendly manner. I certainly will be eating here again

We've tried all of our local Hungry Horse pubs, this being the last one, all have been good but this one felt just right. Granted, footie was on the box so the majority of the customers were men but we were served and spoken to as if we'd been regulars for ages.

Rude staff, no service. Customers were eating, yet we were turned away, stating 'WE ARE NOT COOKING'

I was really impressed with the service we booked on line so was really easy for there sat strait down we order and received our food within 15 mins amazing service and really tasty

Nice food but small portions. Not very welcoming...... Staff could be a little happier and quicker to acknowledge newcomers. Nice pub but not a nice eatery....... With the local competition they need to up their game considerably

Nice atmosphere good value for money polite service could have a few more tables the booths a nice but can sit up to 8 only have 2 or 3 people in them

I visit the pub quite often and have never had bad service or food. However, I took my other kids there as my adopted son came home from the army whom I’ve not seen in over 4 months.
