The Apollo in East Riding of Yorkshire

Came here for tea, got the fish n chips, our server was very attentive and polite and the service was fast , get value for money. Couldn’t recommend more.

So we arrived in Bridlington from Grimsby and decided to pop in the appolo for a quick drink as we always do when down that way we browsed the menu and decided we would go have a wander round and pop back later for food before heading home which we did We found a table (26) and ordered our food Hubby had the curry with chips i wanted the steak yorshire pud but it was apparently sold out so i opted for steak pie chips,and garden peas There was quite,a wait for the food to come but we tucked in when it did both enjoying it until i had eaten half my pie and went to cut another piece and a ball of rolled up clingfilm fell out of it ...i felt sick ! Called the waitress over who hurriedly took my plate away I saw her take it to the bar and show 2 members of staff she then dissapeared with it round the back then came out and started cleaning the table next to us no explanation nothing so we sat and waited still nothing so i went to the bar and ask her what was happening she said oh nothing as casual as you like i said i find a large piece of plastc in my food and your not doing anything about it she said youd better ask her and pointed to the bar manager so i went over she said she hadnt seen it as she was serving i told her i wasnt happy so she gave me a refund no apology nothing i was not happy and certainly will not be eating here again I felt so sick all the way home Standards have certainly dropped in this place

A great welcome for us - 3 adults and our 2 puppies. The food was delicious and service impeccable. The toilets need to be checked to get it up to scratch ....

Never EVER known such rude staff. Think she might be the “chef” shame really because it’s a lovely setting in the balcony had a lovely view. Says “dog friendly” but clearly not, won’t go back.

Half decent food but it’s overpriced for what it is. Staff are pretty unwelcoming, bordering on rude. They don’t like groups of more than 4 so stay away if you come to Brid with a few friends

Wow! I can't rate this any higher. Absolutely amazing. Excellent value, quality and quantity of food. Well presented. Lovely setting. Great staff. Even called the chef out to show my appreciate. Highly recommend.

Nice place for a drink and food. Good prices, clean and good service. Harbour view balcony for sunny days. All the food looked good and plenty of clean plates and happy faces. The liver and onions is to die for.

Called in for a bite to eat and wasn't disappointed, service was very good and fast, and our meals were very good and great value, give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Nicely located , fab harbour view, very good staff and the food is really nice, our only issue is there’s a wee or urine odour about the place , we asked another couple if they could smell it just in case it was us and they said they could. Could it be the toilets ? Anyway time to get the bleach out n have a scrub of everywhere .

This place is good to go for a drink as it matches wetherspoons prices, but it is also good for food, its not gourmet but it is all nice and reasonably priced. Nice view of the harbour from the rear balcony.

Well looking from outside I wasnt sure, but once inside it was lovley.amazin food can't fault it.prices are very good.portions very big so no room for pudding. Great thumbs up

We were a group of 4 for lunch. We ordered 2 small fish & chips, a small all day breakfast and a salad. WE also ordered 4 teas. The drinks came straight away, but our food arrived 40 minutes later. Needless to say our drinks were cold by this time. Poor. The food was good apart from my friends 'breakfast'. The sausage and the hash brown were deep fried, and my friend didn't eat them. If service was quicker, she would have returned them. The girl that served us was very pleasant. The decor and ambience were soulless.

6 of us went to see The Enemy band last night and beforehand we had great meals at the Apollo. We were sat in the outdoor area which had great views and it was sunny! Definitely great value for money and would go again without hesitation. Staff friendly and food served quickly, piping hot and very good quality. Well done to the Apollo !

As a local, me and my friends always tell people that the Apollo is the best place in Brid for a meal. And I usually tell them that the service is also great. However, having been in there recently I have to say that one of the bar staff came to serve me and she had the attitude of a petulant 14 year old who had been asked to clean out the garage!! No smiles, no pleases and no thank yous. This is not what I have come to expect from the Apollo after 8 years of being a customer and I feel that management should be made aware that when there is no member of staff in there over the age of 30 then the children start " playing" and shirking their responsibilities. Please be aware that local custom keeps you going throughout the year and to upset your locals is to lose business permanently, not just for a few weeks a year

My husbands meal was lovley even tho we had to pay extra ,i should have sent my baked potato back it was supposed to be with coleslaw ,it was more like a veg soup it was covered in a milky sludge ,and i left it as i could not eat it,i should have taken it back but left it on table ,when i went to bar to say can i give to some advice as the baked potato with coleslaw that was disgusting ,she said oh yes we have had compalints before ,to which i replied ,then why keep serving it . she then proceeded to serve someone else ,feel like my complaint was dismissed out of hand Was told she would speak to head chef and manager ( whats the point if nothing is going to change as per previous comment ,yes had compaints before ) when she saw i was still stood there ,no offer of refund or anything . I would not go back there ,the food i had was disgusting and why they thought it was ok to serve that i have no idea. Just give the coleslaw and baked potato a massive miss .Yuk

Three of us went for lunch during a day out to Bridlington. We all ordered small fish and chips. It was served beautifully and tasted just as good and was very HOT whch is a must for me. Th service was excellent and the staff very friendly. If we go to Bridlington again we would certainly make a beeline for the Apollo for lunch. Thankyou. All I say is fab food . So happy they do gluten free , I have the the burger meal & all I can say best I have had gf . All the family said their food was fab . Service was great .

We visited for lunch on 5th July. I chose the vegan tagliatelle with tomatoes and my husband the large fish and chips. My tagliatelle was a bit on the cool side, not stone cold but certainly not hot. (Probably should have sent it back really). However the ciabatta which accompanied it was very nice. My husband really enjoyed his fish and chips and would have given 5 stars. The staff were friendly and the service good, although our table wasn’t wiped prior to our meals being served. Maybe a bit nit picky on my part as it was probably just an oversight. Would give it another try but I wouldn’t pick the same dish again. I’d like to suggest maybe adding a greater variety of Vegan/veggie options. There are a few on the menu, but a veggie option lasagna and/or veggie chilli would be nice, but I guess you can’t suit everyone’s taste

I selected the meat pie and it was the best one I have ever tasted, not all pastry and plenty of meat..the gravy came separate and was very tasty and plentiful . Well done to the chef

Went for early dinner, hubby had steak pie with mash ,peas, and gravy,nice to find it without ale , I had pork belly with mash, green beans, gravy. Very good value

After a rainy day in Brid with a 4 year old 18 year old and our dog we had limited places to eat. Pop in today for a quick bite to eat and a drink. We was greated by Alan who was very welcoming and made us feel very welcome and made us feel comfortable. Also the team that work there are very professional and very make you feel welcome and are very knowledge. We ended up staying for a few more drinks as they made us feel so welcome. Thank you again Alan and team. Everyone was in point in the currant climate.

We visited The Apollo for brunch on a trip to Bridlington. We were greeted at the door by a lovely guy who advised on the new process for ordering. Hand gel at the entrance and exit. 1 way in and 1 way out. Clear signs of where to stand and follow. Staff were friendly and welcoming, which is really nice considering surrent circumstances. The food was lovely. Ordered at the bar and brought to the table. Wasn't made to feel rushed, staff member even made a point of stating we could stay after clearing our plates. Overall we felt really assured that social distancing could be met well. Staff deserve much praise for their hard work! See you again soon

Had a great few days in Bridlington & loved to pop into The Apollo for a few drinks, excellent prices, although we didn't eat the food looked wonderful. All the staff were great especially the lad with the dodgy(sorry) haircut & the tattoos he was a star, give that lad a pay rise.

Visited for lunch today, waited at the door where we were grated by a member of staff who gave concise instructions on where, when and how we would be served, although it was a little like a training session, they had thought of everything and we felt very safe whilst there. Food was inexpensive, hot & plentiful. Well done!

We’ve visited here several times over the past few months & it’s well worth a visit. Feel very safe in this pub, cleaned regularly, rules explained & lots of safety measures in place. We’re yet to try the food but there’s a great selection of drinks and as advertised, they match Wetherspoons prices so it’s a nice cheap round. All staff friendly & helpful, I’m unsure of his position but Jamie is fantastic at his job, really stands out from the rest, he’s a credit to the company. We’ll definitely be back.

Visited this pub over the Bank Holiday, very well run and a nice pint of Timothy Taylors ! As well as some lovely sea views this pub was very safe clean and well managed. Had already eaten but from what we saw the food looked good as well. A better option than the usual Wetherspoons which is busy 24/7 as we stayed round the corner from it and usually favour them.

what can i say under these testing circumstances the Apollo really does follow the guidlines. Jamie certainly goes the extra mile ensuring everyone is following said guidelines and explaining their protocol well. Food was excellent great drinks choices and very similar pricing to wetherspoons. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

We were lucky enough to stumble upon Apollo during a recent trip to Bridlington as we were struggling to to find somewhere to eat where we felt government guidelines we being adhered to and that we would feel safe. I cannot say enough good things about Apollo in terms of this. Our table was still wet as this had been thoroughly cleaned along with the chairs and we were given very clear instructions regarding ordering at the bar (one side for drinks, the other for food). Tables were extremely well spaced out and glass shield in place - we could not have felt safer. We did not wait long for our food which was really great and you could taste the alcohol in our drinks (this isn't always the case in some places!) The food wall well-cooked, hot and we had great portions. We will certainly visit again when we are next in town and hopefully greeted by the lovely gentleman who took us to our table and checked in to make sure we had received our food and drinks.

Visited this pub Wednesday 19th Aug, had 3 meals under the government subsidy, many items on the menu not available so we had to compromise , but what we had was well presented and enjoyable, this pub has installed screening and made their pub feel safe and they’ve done more than spoons to reduce the risk of contracting Covid. (One screen near the door needs fixing by the way ) My grandson ( 11 ) thinks the food was great here and wants to come back again tonight !

we decided to take a family trip to bridlington, the first time we have left the house since lockdown started.What an amazing place! We were greeted at the door by a lovely young lad named Jamie. He took us straight to our table that was cleaned prior. This lad was a credit to the pub, a well mannered and polite chap who couldn't do enough. We had a beautiful meal, not a long wait for food, it was fresh and very tasty. All the tables were cleaned after every customer, toilets had plenty of sings, signs on the floor. As a family we felt very safe and well looked after.

Called in a few times while staying in Bridlington, good service good staff, nice place to pop into for a pint while walking around not over priced at all, and they sell BULLDOG GIN my favorite, good social distancing well thought out.

We visited on Monday lunchtime and were pleasantly surprised - a good range of pub food at competitive prices and nice drinks (well-stocked spirit bar, Moretti and Aspall's on tap) We were a little apprehensive going to a pub after Covid but there were good safety measures in place and the staff were very welcoming. We would definitely recommend for a quick lunch stop.
