4 of us went to the Annvil and had the christmas diner off the specials menu ,which was fantastic .. thouroghly enjoyed . we have been several times before and never been dissapointed yet.... be back soon Eric

Had a really great Christmas Eve carvery at the Anvil. They saved the day after being let down by another local pub. All 10 of us really had a lovely meal, the food was hot and delicious. The staff were really friendly and went over and above to make it really positive experience. We will be returning in the new year, and will also be booking for next Christmas.

We Pre booked Christmas lunch and a motorhome pitch, based on general reviews, so really didn’t know what to expect. However there was nothing to be concerned about. We were welcomed on arrival, being shown where the waste points etc are and which was our pitch. We ate from the pub menu on Christmas Eve afternoon, then stopped for the band in the evening, then had lunch on Christmas Day. The food was very good, with plenty of it and the owner and staff were pleasant and friendly, as were the locals. Pub was pretty full on both days, which is obviously testament to the owners and staff. Electric is from a preloaded card, with a £5 refundable deposit. No toilets or showers, but not a problem to us. Thank you for your hospitality and we hope you have a successful 2024.

Make sure you go hungry, and if you have the Bailey's bread and butter pudding go easy on the alcohol, there's more than a hint of Bailey's. The meals were well cooked and presented, all delicious, minus one star for the tired looking decor, although the Christmas decorations were lovely. Would highly recommend, we will visit again,.

The Anvil Inn is a lovely hidden gem! The staff are welcoming and informative, we didn’t get the name of our server but she was fab and couldn’t do enough! The rest of the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was great with plenty of choice and the wait was short! Couldn’t ask for much more and we will definitely be back, thank you!

Good menu range the sizzlers were very tasty as was the combo starter, Good atmosphere staff were very attentive.

Went there 12 months ago, in area so booked a table for 18th Nov, we both had Sirloin Steaks I had chips and my partner had boiled potatoes. Superbly cooked, we had battered onion rings, we ordered more! Great ambiance, great service just a top meal. So good we booked for Sunday lunch, that was excellent as well!

Went out for a lovely meal with friends and family here today and it was tremendous. Lewis (Bar Manager) was extremely helpful as long as the lady working alongside him. The food was great value and very tasty, from both the 'saver' and main meals menus. Will be recommending this establishment to all of my friends as it understands that customer service and happy staff are key. Thank you so much, Smith family

We were heading up the Sandringham campsite and decided to have a Sunday lunch on the way. The Anvil is tucked away on a little country road and offered a Sunday Carvery for £14.50. We did book and were shown to our table. We were collected when they were ready for us ( so no queuing) and taken to the carvery. There was a good range of meats with beef, lamb, chicken and sausages. Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, cabbage, peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese, with gravy completed the plate. Although the meat was served, there was plenty given and we helped ourselves to the veg. Everything was superb! The meat was tender and the vegetables beautifully cooked. I can honestly say, one of the best carveries I have eaten. Can’t fault it! The pub has a lovely atmosphere and was really busy, which is always a good sign! The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is a good selection of real ales. Good to know that there is a campsite here which welcomes vans. £15 a night to book in but if you just turn up and park in the car, it is free!

My husband and I recently had our wedding reception at The Anvil. We were treated to a beautiful three course meal which included the carvery for our small wedding party of 28. We had an evening buffet with plenty of food to go around our 80 evening guests together with a disco in the main bar. This pub is a lovely little gem hidden away in the back roads of Congham. We weren’t overcharged because we booked a ‘wedding’ which you will find with most venues you are. The service was second to none and Carl, Lewis and Kath and the team couldn’t have been more helpful. The food is 5 star, service is 5 star and the atmosphere was 5 star. Our wedding day was fantastic because of the service we received and we will now become regulars at The Anvil as it will hold a special place in our hearts going forward.

Absolutely lovely place to eat , the staff are super friendly and can't do enough to help , my husband is disabled and we asked for comfy seating for him which we got the food was excellent my MIL had a carvery my husband and his dad had the liver and bacon and I had the stilton chicken although we ordered from different menus it was all timed perfectly so we ate together they even sorted out the fact my husband doesn't like garden peas and offered him to choose veg from the carvery, the portions are very good and the food is served hot , the drinks were even delivered before we finished ordering them as the bar was just near us lol , this place is a hidden gem it's a little off the main route but well worth going for the friendly atmosphere and welcome from all the staff we will definitely go again anyone holidaying near it needs to try it the prices are very reasonable too , 4 of us ate and had a drink for a great price well done to all the staff and the owners

A great site for motorhomers and caravans. Small site which is well maintained with pre-payment of electricity and fresh water on tap. Idyllic and quiet at the rear of the Anvil pub in quiet countryside. Karl is the perfect host and his friendly personality and fantastic customer service is second to non. We felt welcome straight away. The pub serves really delicious freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. This is definitely our first choice when we visit Norfolk in the future. No, there’s no showers or toilets but as motorhomers we have them on board so what’s the problem? Thanks Karl, you are the perfect host Steve & Alison

If you want a good value meal, with very friendly staff, this is the place to go. It isn't gourmet , neither are the prices though. A mid week special of 3 courses for £16 is a snip. Plenty of choice for each course. Food was hot and we were given a reasonable time between each serving. Lovely staff, couldn't have asked for better. A pub in the middle of nowhere could struggle but The Anvil has got it just right. Thanks to all staff

Excellent sunday carvery, enjoyed every mouthful. Booking a must. Unfortunately the Anvil is located on a quite narrow country lane so is not always easy to find for the first time. Excellent and helpful staff.

Cannot speak highly enough of this lovely place, the staff are lovely and very welcoming, we had a table for 8 and every dish was perfect, it was my wife's birthday and they treated her like a VIP, can't wait to return, I highly recommend The Anvil, a real hidden gem.

Just had first post lockdown lunch out. Missed having our lunch at the Anvil. All required precautions in place and easy to stick to. Had starter and 2 for £12 main. Pulled pork pie fantastic best I’ve had there and missed over last many weeks.

The Anvil is a drive down narrow country lanes but the food is worth the drive when you get there. There is a good selection of food on the menu with a specials board priced at 2 for £12. I can recommend the Steak Pie Chips and Gravy . The sweets are excellent.The pub was very quiet when we arrived but got busy about 8.30. The service is excellent.

Dined witrh four friends on thursday evening. Surprisingly we were the only people in the restaurant. Menu was extensive with a great choice of different food. The service was very good and quite fast but that may have been down to the number of people eating. We all had starters, mains and desserts and every course came as a generous helping, in short the food was excellent. I believe the Anvil is busy at lunch times and it's location would account for the lack of diners on a cold damp thursday night. If you fancy a drive down narrow country roads to be rewarded with excellent food, then the Anvil is the place to go.

Once again, the Anvil service , staff, friendliness and food topped the bill.We took a friend friend, he was delighted with the place. He gave everything 5 stars and would tell his friends about the gem it is.love it.

Came here Saturday night for a meal with my husband as it was our 17th wedding anniversary. Once again I could not fault the service of Karl, Kath and their lovely team. My husband and I and our two sons, recently stayed in the anvil’s rented static caravan, we had a fabulous week, and would highly recommend it, the accommodation was clean, tidy and a brilliant base, nothing was any trouble for the owners of the anvil and we where made to feel very welcome.

After travelling around the area trying to find a pub/restaurant that had space we came across the Anvil. Loads of space, empty in fact...should have realised why really.

Went here with friends for lunch. Excellent attentive service, nothing is too much trouble. We chose the meals from the specials boards - only £12 for two meals and I chose the home made pork and mushroom pie with vegetables and new potatoes. It was full of good chunks of pork and really tasty. We decided on the small sized sweets at just £3.95 (I think that is the right price) and there was more than enough. I chose the Raspberry Eton Mess which was a fair sized Sundae Glass full and plenty. Really recommend this place for good value, good portion sizes and really very good service.

Turned up Friday evening with our motor home parked up set up,good idea go for a Pint walked in they had Live music on it was fantastic.

The land lord was lovely friendly and welcomed us. The campsite was great. We could only stay one night. We ate in the pub great menu choice and the staff were efficient and the food lovely highly recommend. Only down side was constant dog barking from 7.30pm untill gone 11pm. We will definitely use again just take ear plugs.

I came here for a meal with my husband last night and once again I cannot fault the service from Karl, Kath and their staff. They are all so welcoming and nothing is ever a problem for them. The food is absolutely beautiful - perfectly cooked. Portions are very generous - so it's a good job they do mini desserts because you might not be able to fit a normal sized one in!

Took mother, father in law & mother in law along with my wife, daughters and husband plus 2 year old granddaughter out to celebrate getting new job. The older members of our party are all about 80 years old and not as light on the feet as they used to be so it was useful to be parked close to door.we where taken straight to our table and seated within a couple of minutes. Drinks ordered and food for the little one. The rest of us had the Sunday carvery with 3 meats to choose from. I had the most succulent and moist piece of pork I have had in many years. The veg was plentiful and well cooked. We all devoured it with gusto. We left room for pudding and again were not disappointed. Great food, great value for money and great atmosphere as well. Going back soon.

I was surprised, and not a little impressed, to find so many reserved tables at 6:15 on a Wednesday. This restaurant is obviously popular with the locals (February is hardly the tourist season!). In spite of being busy, the service was very prompt.

The Anvil is much larger inside than you first envisage.It has 3 tabled areas and a bar area.There was a choice of starters which were all a good size and tasty.

Pre booked few days before as large group of 12. Celebrated nephews birthday. Couple got lost so ate later than booked. Not a problem for staff. Superb service. Good selection of foods available. All meals good portion size and good quality. Could have shared side portions of chips as generous helping. We’re seated in restaurant room, not bar.

Sunday lunch here, carvery 1/2/3 courses for reasonable price. The building lacks character inside and out but is functional as a venue and has a car park. The food was appropriate for the price but not amazing. Not an big range of veg to choose from and roast beef well done. Staff friendly and polite. The place was busy which is a good sign but sadly I don’t think I will be back
