I eat here every week and it’s the best local pub that I have ever been to. The kitchen is not much bigger than my downstairs loo so when it is busy, most nights, there is a bit of a wait. When it comes it often interrupts your conversation with one of the locals and you wish they had been slower. There is nothing I can fault, the land lady and her partner/husband/bouncer for their effort to make your evening great. Keep it up and don’t retire.

Absolutely LOVE this pub!!! The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming and it’s easy to see just how much effort they put into the place. Both inside and the beer garden have been decorated in such a great quirky way, with so much attention to all the little things. You won’t find another pub like it in the area. The food is always great! Home cooked, large portions and they always cater well to our different dietary requirements. The chips smothered in their curry is my favourite! Very dog friendly in a beautiful setting! Huge thanks to the owners and staff for creating such a great, unique place. Thank you.

Don’t visit as regular as we’d like or have in the past but it’s always a warm welcome and a pleasure to spend time either having a quiet drink, partaking in the quiz or having a burger with a pint. One of those unique, individual and valuable pubs that this country needs to retain.

We’ve popped by to The Angel on several occasions and each and every time have found it to be welcoming and fun. We’ve seen live bands, enjoyed festival days and charity days, met friends, had the food and generally always enjoyed ourselves. Don’t listen to the naynays who are trying to slate a hard-working team because they had a bit of a wait for their tea on a busy day, they always work hard in the pub and do everything they can to make customers welcome.

We were staying on the Yarwell Mill campsite and nipped in for a cheeky lunchtime drink and snack. Based on our experience we then returned for the evening karaoke fun. As per other reviews, one glance at the walls and the passage on the menu tells you there's a sense of humour running through the core of the pub. As a middle-aged group it ticked all the right boxes for us and certainly raised a smile. Service was friendly, with a good deal of banter. Our snacks were tasty and prompt. It just so happened that it was karaoke night, which we joined in with and almost became locals for the night. Great fun and a proper mix of tunes being sung, we could have gone on all night. Just a short stagger back to the caravans, all of us agreeing it'd been a fantastic find. We will definitely be back, if they'll have us after our singing obviously!

We popped in for the first time one lunchtime a couple of weeks ago, stopping by with our dog for a pint at the end of a thirsty walk. We were made very welcome, including our black lab, then sitting on the bench outside the front to enjoy our drinks & a packet of crisps in the late summer sunshine. In an area heavily (over) populated with gastro pubs (nice enough I guess) we're kicking ourselves for not trying The Angel Inn before now. We miss the traditional pub so we're really looking forward to revisiting soon. Just wish it was a bit closer to home.

This is a lovely little pub, tucked away in the village of Yarwell. The eclectic collection of items on display make it an interesting place to visit. The staff are all very polite and chatty and the service is good. This is not a fast food restaurant, so be prepared to wait a reasonable time for your food to be lovingly cooked by their team. They have a good selection of real ale and a choice of lagers for those who like a pint or three. Spirits and liquors are plentiful. As they stress on their website, they are primarily a pub, which serves food also. As such, their menu isn’t too large, but what food they do offer is wholesome and plentiful. If you’re after a jus, parfait or any other pretentious fayre, you’ll be disappointed. On the other hand, if you prefer good old home cooked ham, tasty burgers, jacket potatoes and other traditional dishes, you should be more than happy here. Although this was our first time eating here, we are certain to return in the near future.

This pub claims to be “a traditional village pub with a hint of cheek” and it’s a proposition they deliver on 100%. The team are friendly and welcoming, there’s a nice selection of drink on tap and typical pub menu - cooked to perfection. The fun & eclectic decor has a “punk” shabby chic feel to it and I’d imagine in the winter it’s a lovely cosy place to be. Would definitely revisit if back in the area.

The pub itself is beautiful, very quaint and off the beaten track, staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food however was poor. I ordered a vegetarian lasagne and it's possibly one of the worst ones I've had which was disappointing. It was 3/4 cheese and the rest lasagne sheets and tomato sauce, I couldn't find any vegetables in it. I'd possibly return for drinks if ever we're in the area, but food for me is to be avoided, which was a shame.

Dwindling in numbers rapidly this is an almost extint species. A village pub. It's a pub that serves food and not as most are now a restaurant that tolerates drinkers. A comment on here accused the food of being mediocre. Not sure that is strictly accurate, basic certainly but mediocre is a bit harsh. If you want sauteed hedgehog with wilted nettles and beetroot jus, or squirrel au gratin with stir fried doc leaves and a creosote reduction then you are in the wrong place. Many places locally will cater for these needs if you so wish. One observation about this pub is that it's possibly in the wrong country my family coming from Ireland it has a more celtic feel with it being informal friendly, dog friendly and musical. Occasional impromptu song nights with Ukelele and guitars are common. The Kareoke nights are very entertaining. I used to hate the damn thing before coming to the Kareoke here I had only done it once before on a very drunken night in a bar in Bermuda about 30 years ago. To be honest I use it as a way of rehearsing performing in our village panto, but for a small venue there are some really good voices. The odd song has been adapted into a pub anthem. Dave's version of Sweet Caroline invites audience participation and possible legal action by Neil Diamond. IF you want a pub as they used to be entertaining, friendly, informal occasionally musical, even educational with the quiz nights then this is one of the few left. My only regret is it;s a dying breed of pub, but perhaps this has given the niche market it needs to survive. Long may it continue.

Nice place, friendly staff, good food. Nice to see dogs welcome and whilst the place has its own vibe, was inviting to everyone. Particularly enjoyed the humour in the menu small print. We were on holiday between Wansford and Yarwell, and found this fantastic pub on the off chance. From the outside it looks like a small pub, but that is deceptive. It's an independent pub, with a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and where dogs are allowed. The service was very friendly, polite, efficient, and we felt like nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, and good value for money, and tasted like it was freshly made to order, in our opinion. Just as we were leaving, a gentleman was about to play some live music. As a family of 4 we had a fantastic evening, and would thoroughly recommend this pub to anyone and everyone.

Lovely to see an open fire which added to the charm and atmosphere of a good old fashioned pub, wish it was our local! Due to Covid the track and trace, sanitising of tables and table service were all adhered to, hand sanitiser available also. The menu was substantial and of good quality and quantity. Excellent and attentive service. Take time to read the small print it is accurate but humorous! Having lived in a nearby village for 20 + years it's taken me way too long to get to visit what I've imagined was a pub designed for me. After finally arriving there I was right. A friendly welcome from staff, chatty locals, great choice of beer and great pub grub which was piled high and just what we needed. So nice to have chips served on a plate rather than have half a dozen stacked in a pathetic mini basket, a pet hate of mine. As their website says, they're not a restaurant they are a pub that does a bit of food. My daughters are not really fans of pub food, they've been taken in by the marketing of city centre chain places of which none have the character of the Angel, but even they were impressed and want to come back. It makes things seem so easy when you get a warm welcome, served pleasantly etc etc, just what a pub should be. Will try to make this our local.

Strange one......beautiful 17th century pub, lovely atmosphere, set in a stunning village, great customer service, 4.7 stars of Google, 5 star food hygiene but......terrible terrible god awful food, despite stating "100% British Beef" on the menu my burger was a full on "rat" burger, the cheapest of the cheap meat available from the likes of bookers/wholesalers, I'd recommend going for drinks only. Really disappointing, whilst they do not claim to be a restaurant for me it's not too hard to nip to the local butchers and get some quality mincemeat to flame grill.

Did my homework before coming here. Was intrigued by the rules involving Kids and food. I agree wholeheartedly that bringing children into a pub is a privilege not a right. Wish more people thought this too. Took our 3 year old grandson and met up with an old friend who now lives in Peterborough. Ordered Pizza, Curry and a large portion of chips and an extra plate for my grandson. Food was served hot and was well presented. Plenty of food to go round and all very tasty. Made welcome by the locals. Good choice of beer & ciders. Noticed that to get tickets for New Years Eve you had to be a regular, nice touch. Will definitely come again when in the area, may even drive there especially. Good to see a pub with principles. Must be a good formula as they have survived 15 years, which is no mean feat.
