Visit for takeaway cake! Struggled to find any vegan options at the local bakery and nearby cafe. Popped in to the Bistro and they had an amazing selection on offer. Cake’s purchased as friends visiting for afternoon tea. Thank you!

Lovely food that tasted genuinely home made. Tasty and reasonably priced we loved it and eat there twice during our weeks holiday. Friendly staff which is always a bonus

My self and my wife went to a monthly steak night in June but then returned in august with the family and again none of us were disappointed, steaks were all perfect and we even squeezed in some deserts and they just finished it off nicely! We will return again soon.

Good all round experience. Very pleased we stopped off here for breakfast on our way through Alford. Friendly, helpful and welcoming, great food, clean and pleasant surroundings and very easy parking too.

Had a family lunch and the food was excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The ambience is also very good. The home bakes also deserve a super special mention!

Another really lovely meal. This restaurant never disappoints. Delicious chicken & mushroom stroganoff then waffles with toffee sauce & ice cream. Superb. Following a recommendation from a local, stopped here for lunch. My husband had lasagne and chips and I had macaroni and chips. Both were well cooked and generous portions. There is a reasonable menu and also good for just coffee and cake. Would recommend if near Alford.

Lovely scone and tea at 3pm service was quick and staff excellent . We returned at 6 for evening meal. Had chicken stroganoff and chilli con carnoe both were excellent and roasting hot. Quick service and staff helpful Would recommend this place

When you stay in Alford there is not many choices for food so when you find somewhere it's got to be good. Thankfully we enjoyed takeaway fish and chips and breakfast and found both the be of high quality and service both helpful and friendly

Dinner last night was superb. Great choices on menu catering for all tastes. We had battered mushrooms & haggis bites as starters - both really nice. Then Chicken & Mushroom stroganoff & Bistro Stir Fry with chicken & king prawns - both really delicious & just the right quantity too. Finished off with Biscoff cheesecakes & cream - yum! Service always very friendly & efficient. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Very reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend. They do great scones & cakes too if you just want a coffee/tea & cake during the daytime.

Having just cycled from Aberdeen in monsoon conditions, we really needed a hot drink. The smells from the Bistro drew me in. We were a bit worried, as we were REALLY REALLY wet (Sorry about the puddles on the floor) We were warmly welcomed and soon served up delicious breakfast rolls (the bread rolls were top notch!) and piping hot coffees. Thank you!

We have been back at the Alford Bistro a few times since things returned to "nearly normal" Our visit usually fits in with walking our dog, "Molly" around Haughton Country Park, and a shop in the Co-op. The Bistro is usually quite busy when we arrive and service is very friendly, welcoming and efficient. A major advantage is that we have had an early lunch as early as 1030, provided our requirements were available. Served piping hot and delicious. The cooked breakfast is another of our favourites.

We have visited the Bistro for coffee & scones in the past which was lovely. Today we visited for a light lunch. The 3 of us enjoyed our various items & it was served promptly & pleasantly. We will visit again.

The setting and decor are nice, the staff friendly. The salmon and bean burgers were from a Costco or Tesco freezer section, not something I would associate with the prices charged.

The staff are friendly and accommodating. Ordered pizza and some sides and everything was perfect. Cannot fault it. Seriously considering having pizza again tonight!

Nice place, with a good selection. The broccoli soup was delicious and the Brie and cranberry sandwiches good. Bacon rolls were large. However the macaroni cheese was lacking any taste of cheese, just bland and tasteless. It was left and just the chips eaten.

I visited Alford with my cousin After many months in Lockdown. The plan was to visit the Charity Shops.. So much better than the ones in our town. We got some bargains and were feeling quite pleased.. Now where to go to feed our hungry...

With all the coughing and apparently the cooks are ill there and after I ate there, I am not well now. I WOULDNT EAT THERE JUST NOW....even though the steak is to die for👍

This unnassuming Bistro with friendly service never disappoints. Last night’s chef pate on homemade oat cakes with apricot on the side was eye-rollngly good- followed by a smoked fish risotto -the creamy texture topped off by a perfectly poached orange-yoked egg. I won’t forget this birthday because of the amazing meal I had at Alford Bistro. Thank you for your unfailingly high stanards.

If in Alford you have to visit the food and service are awesome. Priced reasonable. If vusiting again we will certainly visiting for a meal.

Visited this very popular Bistro restaurant for lunch on a Saturday in December. Booked in advance as it can be very busy. Got a table in the rear wee room...perfect for us to catch up on our news. I had the large haddock in beautiful crispy batter with chips and a brilliant salad. It is always the same high standard of service with our meals being served in 10 minutes by a really helpful happy waitress.it is our treat visiting this Bistro and will return many times in future.

A vibrant small cafe/restaurant which offers a great a la carte menu and also a cafe menu in the day. Good selection of wines and I had a perfectly cooked and tender steak. Highly recommended.

We love popping in for a coffee and freshly baked scone, which vary in ingredients through the week. We have also eaten dinner on several occasions with both friends and family, and never been disappointed since we moved here a year ago. Lunch and dinner menus differ and always feature ‘old favourites’ and new dishes, so there is ample choice, with good sized portions. We rarely have three courses finding either a starter or dessert are enough with the main course. The Bistro is licensed.

There are surprisingly few lunch options open on a Thursday afternoon, however we were very lucky with our pit stop here. Friendly service and accommodating. Good value and a warm atmosphere.

We often visit the Alford Bistro. Family friendly with great service and a varied menu for frequent visits. The staff are all lovely and helpful, attentive without being in the way when you’re trying to enjoy your food! Food always looks as good as it tastes. I’d advise booking for weekends as it does get busy! Kids menu is good value and decent portions for small people too.

Came to see museum - shut, and the railway - shut for years?

Popped in with 3 young children for a bite to eat. Food was excellent and service rapid. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Its advisable to book because its so good its always busy!

Went to meet up friend over Saturday lunch, was very surprised they had most tables reserved. Luckily we found table, ordered sandwiches, however they had plenty warm soup and meal on offer. Price was very reasonable and place is very pleasant, although it was buzzing by 2pm. We will be returning again.

Easy on street parking. Friendly /helpful staff. Great selection of quality homemade meals available , tray bakes , great coffee , everything you need whether is a snack or a full meal, plenty on offer .

My family and I were visiting Scotland from the states and ate at this restaurant. I had the Coronation Chicken with kale soup. It was excellent! We all then had dessert, again, it was excellent! Highly recommend!

What a lovely Gluten free lunch we enjoyed at the Alford Bistro. The staff were all so helpful and informative. So many choices on the menu- we were overwhelmed. The gluten free scones were the best I have ever tasted- so enjoyable. Keep up they good work . I will be back.

A lovely meal with friends, nice atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Very enjoyable. I would highly recommend, we booked first as we're a group of seven and the premises are not very big,, but a nice place to have lunch.

Out for a Sunday run on the bike. Lovely scone & latte (not full of bicarb 👍🏼). Quite busy with a mix of folk at 3pm.

Outward appearances can be deceiving. The meals in this restaurant are simply outstanding. We ate here twice as there are few options in Alford. Everything we tried was exceptional. And the menu changed nightly. You can’t go wrong.

Stopped in past here on our way home, we hadn’t booked a table but that wasn’t a problem for the friendly staff. The menu was very good, we were spoiled for choice. The food was lovely and came out of the kitchen at an incredible rate. Very impressed with everything, highly recommended.

Passing through Alford feeling hungry and decided to try Alford Bistro and we were not disappointed. The food appeared quickly and was delicious served by Rosie who was very efficient.

Platos para niños y buenos cafés en grandísimas tazas. Pasteles enormes y preciosos. Los baños muy limpios y bonitos, llenos de complementos. El personal, todo femenino dan un trato familiar y agradable.

A regular stop when out cycling. Very tasty bacon and black pudding roll cooked to order and a decent cappucino. Good value. Super modern and clean toilets too which is always good to find.

I was really overjoyed at the amount of gluten free options this bistro had. I struggle to eat out at most places as I also have a citrus allergy so finding somewhere that has many options is just fantastic. The gluten free scone was also superb, highly recommend this cosy wee bistro.

Visited today for lunch for six of us. 2 adults, 3 teenagers and a pre-teen!!! First good sign was that we couldn’t get a table as it was so busy! 45 minutes later and a wee walk around Alford to work up and appetite and we were back. Food was all delicious, paninis, burgers, chips were all excellent - sadly no room for cake, think we’ll need to go back this week for tea and a scone!! Would definitely recommend. Clean, comfortable and great friendly quick service.

Popped in for a coffee and scone with my daughter who was up visiting me and ended up smelling the fine food so decided to have lunch instead, my daughter is a vegan and we struggled to see what she could have to eat but the lovely lady who came to take our order said the chef could make a Buddha Bowl for her, when it arrived we were both overwhelmed at how amazing it looked and just to finish it off it tasted amazing, Can't thank the staff enough for going out of their way to accommodate us, my daughter was so impressed she has now said she will visit more as long as we eat at the bistro.

What a great place! We stopped for a lunch snack whilst driving to Dundee and came upon this Bistro. Great paninis, excellent and cheerful service and a convivial atmosphere. We come this way annually and we’ll be back next year.

Love going for lunch at the bistro, fish and chips is definitely my favourite. Staff are warm and welcoming and happy to help amend orders if the kids are being awkward (sorry staff)

Visiting a friend in the area decided to go for a meal, the bistro had good reviews.

We call here for a late lunch and was pleased with the ample choices on the menu, 3 out of 4 of us went for the all day breakfast and it was very nice, very clean and tidy place and staff attentive but not overbearing. All the food being served looked very nice.

We were a group of six people and we really liked both the food and atmosphere of the place.The staff was really nice and the food did not take long to arrive. We recommend the food especially the fish risotto and burgers!

Landed in Alford at lunchtime, came upon the Alford Bistro. Looked at the menu by the door which offered what we needed.

The staff were welcoming.We had booked, and the table was waiting, There was a good selection of vegetarian fare, It was all delicious and well cooked. Children were welcomed too. An unpretentious welcoming restaurant!

Went for dinner and we did not know anything about the place but it looked good and was busy which is always a good sign. Service was good and the food was really tasty. Such a nice meal.

Arrived to a sign saying please wait to be seated, and wait we did, it was very crowded and staff were obviously very busy, no one took time to acknowledge we were there, we were eventually asked after waiting for close to 10 mins, then had to wait a few mins whilst the table was cleared / set.

Today, 10/03/2019 my wife and I had breakfast here for the first time (having visited in the evenings quite often) and will be back. Lovely breakfast and a very warming welcome and great service from Fiona.....definitely the 'A' team!

There seemed to be only 2 cafes in Alford so choice was limited. We chose the Alford bistro as we had heard good reviews about it so we went in with high expectations. The staff were friendly and attentive and the decor was pleasant. It felt welcoming. The menu was solid and straightforward cafe fare. Our food choices were fine although not outstanding in any way - the normal cafe fare you would expect to find. I was very impressed with their awareness of food allergies and intolerances - very commendable. Overall we enjoyed the meal and would go back. A nice, solid, friendly little cafe, however I'm afraid I wouldn't rave about it.

After a day's Skiing at Glenshee I was now in the "Mood for food" and found by chance the Boathouse, it was early evening, and that turned out to be a blessing in disguise! as later on that night they were fully booked, and it wasn't hard to understand why! nice atmosphere of people enjoying great food, good selection on the menu and not overly cluttered with too much choice, as in what they do, they do very well, with a few dishes on the specials board, we had the beetroot infused gravlax to start with, made in-house and bursting with flavour, and for my main I had Lamb steak, it was cooked perfectly, just good honest comfort food, served by pleasant (young) staff, I would highly recommend the Boathouse, but would also recommend booking a table! We just got lucky.... JMS

Bistro looks nice and fresh from outside. Decor inside is nice too but the door system isn’t great especially if you are a wheelchair user. Two ladies working. Got a table no problem. We ordered soup and sandwich deal. Not a very good deal.... bread for sandwiches tasted like cheap loaf you get in Tesco and absolutely no garnish on plate. Also charge more than what you would be in Aberdeen city and you get more on your plate in the city. Expected more. Soup was ok. They have a member of staff called Rosie, anything but Rosie. In fact very off cuff and not very friendly. I have been once and that is more than enough.

My husband and I stopped by the Alford bistro after our walk at nearby craigeiver castle for a late lunch. It was 2:30pm on a Sunday and it was very busy but the service and food was 5* regardless! Extensive menu choices, something for everyone and from light snacks to 3 course meal. I also noticed it had a few vegetarian and vegan options as-well as gluten free options. We will most definitely go back and highly recommend this bistro to others.

On a recent trip to the Moray area we struggled to find somewhere to eat close to our rented cottage, fortunately the owners of the cottage suggested the Alford Bistro. The restaurant was small and doubled as a coffee shop during the morning but the service and quality of food was exceptional, service was quick,friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and there was a relaxed atmosphere, definitely a place to return to on our next visit.

Very clean establishment, very friendly staff. Stopped for a quick lunchtime snack when travelling to Aberdeen. Reasonable menu, and specials board, which should satisfy all tastes. Short walk from the village, off street, car park.

Stopped for coffee, couldn’t resist the enormous date & coffee scones absolutely delicious went back again a week later had blueberry & ginger just as delicious.

It could be that I had been cycling in the rain for 2 hours, but I cannot remember a better fruit scone and cup of tea. Had the weather not started to clear (and I had a plane to catch) I might of stayed for a second round.

De camino Aberdeen nos guiamos x las críticas, y no defruda. Sopa contundente y sabrosa, chili con carne rico, pollo al curry division de opiniones, pues tenía guisantes, mi hamburguesa vegetal excelente y el postre apple scramble deliciosa.

A group of us popped in for a quick lunch and were not disappointed. The menu wasn't terribly imaginative but did contain all the usual suspects and there is also a specials board. We were quickly seated, our orders taken and the food was served quickly too. The teas and coffees were very welcome.

Has a great varied menu & would return again. The service was friendly & the place spotless. Good sign that lots of locals use it.

Beautiful location, quaint looking inside and out. Full Breakfast met all expectations and more. All the food cook skilfully. Staff very attentive and professional. Highly recommend, totally loves this place.
