The Acton Park Pub in Wrexham

Listen carefully , I’ve eaten at the best places in the country I should be a food critic I’ve been everywhere . I have an outstanding taste for food and ingredients and know when it’s 10/10 or not . We stopped here on our way to Snowdon with the family. I had a steak sirloin. Two days later and I still dream about it !! The single best steak I’ve ever eaten in my life . I’m actually annoyed we stopped here because going to miller and carter from now on is going to be a disappointment! Absolutely outstanding. I would wait two hours for my food if I had to . The pizzas were amazing best taste ever .

Ordered food tood an hour and 15mins. There was a funeral on but we arrived an hour before on pre booked table. Food was cold. Chicken was rubbery, steak was grisly. Chips were off. Really disappointed. 4 of us left most of our meal. Nothing like it used to be. Really not good.

I had a home delivery today and omg absolutely amazing. First time ever ordering from here and wow 👌 highly recommend, portions are more then enough price is really good but the food was amazing will definitely be ordering again very soon

This was our first visit. We were helped immensely by a man behind the bar as we had a dining out card and were unsure how to use it. He informed us it was easiest to order from the bar with the card. This was true, no hassle, just plain sailing. Ambience was great, service great, but the food was fantastic! I would definitely recommend the lasagne!

Food was ok, standard pub food, however the gammon was bit over cooked and dry

Great place to eat and drink with friends! Met up with a few mates for food before the footy and it was so good we came back for drinks afterwards. Food was prompt and hot, beer tasted perfectly conditioned and staff were great!

Didn't like how we had to pre order our food a week before we arrived, but then only to be told that a number of dishes that we had ordered weren't available, as they had been sold out. ( what's the point of pre order) very disappointed as it was a meal for my sisters 50th.

Much improved since my last visit. Haven't been there for some time, but had a nice meal. Good service too. I won't be waiting such a long time before going back. Update 2022: just had a lovely meal, definitely recommended. I'll be back again soon. And 2023 - still great, had some lovely food

Food was OK, generic pub food, some aoli for Calamari would have been good! The children's pizza was dry as bone. Not somewhere I'd go for a special meal but easy enough for a quick catch up.

Ordered via just eat, took a little while to arrive but food was amazing, only complaint would be that the chips were a little cold but thatd be the fault of just eat. One of the nicest burgers ive ever had though, will definitely be ordering from here again!

Bar staff did very well for how busy it was Christmas Eve! Drinks are always top quality there, can’t go wrong here!

Christmas Dinner on Christmas day, was top notch

My family and me go to the Acton often as it is our local pub. The atmosphere there with the regulars and staff is amazing. This was my third year I was Santa there for Christmas and all I can say is that it’s amazing the work Sarah McDowall puts into making this happen too. Totally selfless in what she does to ensure that breakfast with Santa happens at the Acton pub, she really does deserve praise for this alone. I’d also like to say that it’s great to have Steve the new manger there, he’s been a breath of fresh air as a manger. Can’t say enough about all the staff too very welcoming, a great place to have a meal and a drink with the family there. A nice heart warming place to go.

Food lovely very busy Friday night expect it to be but put off by going at such a busy night left hanging around to be served and ask for food as we had booked table,would have been a lot better if you did table service 😀

Food was good and served in good time staff were friendly. Poor selection as many items were sold out.

Really disappointing. No steaks available when we ordered so ordered the cottage pie, told that wasn’t available either. No lasagne……’scampi is available though’🤷🏼‍♀️heating wasn’t on, building uncomfortably cold. Wouldn’t go back in a hurry.

Wanted to try the Acton as everyone says it’s improved dramatically, unfortunately they were only serving pre booked tables as they’re short staffed so I can’t comment on the food, the pint was lovely though . It does seem a bit short sighted if you’re trying to sell yourself as a “classic pub serving great quality food” but never mind. It does fill you with confidence that they’ve moved away from microwaving everything as they did in the past so can’t wait to try it again, and as the 6 guys in hi vis jackets by the bar quite rightly told me …. You should have booked mate

We booked a family table of 10 for a meal at 5:15 as we had young children with us (ages 2, 3, 11 and 13.). We had a table in the middle of the busy bar, so disappointed. The noise was unbelievable, we could hardly have a conversation and for someone like myself with Tina tinnitus it was unbearable at times. The Acton is possibly my local pub, but also today will be likely to be our last visit - unfortunately! Why is there not a "family section" particularly for very early evening? Drinks and food were on the whole good, but difficult to enjoy in such a rowdy environment.

Bit disappointed with our visit today. Lengthy wait at the bar, staff don't acknowledge you when dealing with others (which is basic customer service), seem a bit understaffed but none of the staff move with any urgency, just going through the motions. The app didn't work properly, trying to modify the meal options such as swapping crisps for chips didn't work, then it said one of the dishes was out of stock, so another lengthy wait at the bar to order food. Relieved I mentioned about the out of stock item as I was told actually they did have it in stock after all. The food arrived, the crispy chicken ciabata was very tasty, as was the BLT ciabata which my mum had, although there was a LOT of rind/fat on the meat which should have been trimmed or at least grilled until crispy which it was neither. The chips were nice enough but bordering luke warm. Room for improvement and a few standards to be reset and observed from management down to the barstaff.

We went to The Acton Park for Sunday lunch, and I'm sorry to say, honestly, it was terrible. We used the app to order and had trouble bringing up the loyalty code as the app was unresponsive, as such I asked the barmaid if she could add our loyalty points retrospectively. She said, 'I don't know, mate, I've only been here a week.' Not a great start. We had nachos to share as a starter, which were pretty average. The roast turkey dinner though was a letdown. The turkey portion was tiny, I literally had a few chunks while my girlfriend had two small slices of meat. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were hard and dry, I suspect they were frozen, and the carrots had a really weird taste to them - again, probably frozen too. The parsnips were so overcooked, and I assume we're deep-fried. The gravy serving was not very generous at all. We love a Sunday roast but this has to be the worst we've ever had. As such, we left 2/3 of what was on the plate. The server took our plates away without asking if everything was OK with our meals, at which point we would have said how disappointed we were. On the bright side, the Eton Mess for dessert was nice. While waiting for dessert, we ordered some more drinks via the app. Our dessert came, we ate it, and there was still no sign of our drinks. The pub wasn't that busy. There were two staff behind the bar who were enjoying chatting to the locals and drinking their own drinks while chatting, so I don't believe that 'being very busy' was the reason for this. In the end, we went to the bar and asked if we could cancel the order and get a refund for the missing drinks, before heading home. I'm not sure we would return there to eat again which is a real shame as we have just moved to to the area and this is our new local pub. The combination of disappointing food, slow service, and the wait for drinks left us with a less than enjoyable experience.

Excellent food and service Lovely atmosphere

Many years since dining here. Booked for 3 people lunchtime. Ambience pleasant, staff polite and pleasant. Nice menu choices at reasonable prices. We ordered Posh fish finger "butty". Haddock and chips mushy peas and tartare sauce. Also Hunters chicken. A delish. Belgian waffle with all the trimmings for dessert, yum. And my friend ordered Eton Mess, but didn,t think there was meringue in it, Joe politely assured her there was. Lattes came with "Smarties"on the saucer 👍. Enjoyed very much would definitely choose to dine again at lunch time.

Order to 2 ciabatta the chips were cold and soggy the salt was clumped in the salt pot and damp the steak was fatty and couldn't eat it its definitely cheap for a reason won't be going back

Came for food and drinks on Monday night. Place was spotless. Lovely atmosphere. Got a mixed grill and a pint of Madri. 10/10. Great service and even finished off with a cheeky waffle which was delicious and the icing on the cake for my great visit. Will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed a drink and meal One off

Visited today for lunch with old school friends and was very impressed. We all decided to opt for the two course lunch menu with cocktails. The food was delicious. Cocktails were toooooo nice. Very good value for money. I paid £15 for a two course meal with a cocktail!!! I will definitely be returning with friends and family in the future.

Visited on Saturday evening for drinks and food. The service was excellent! Made us feel very welcome. Our young barman Jack really looked after us even suggested a nice cocktail for my mum to try. Food was delicious and plentiful. Very good value for money. The French Dip burger is a must!!! The gravy is to die for. Thankyou Acton park for a thoroughly enjoyable night. Can’t wait to dine with you again.
