My husband and I visited this Restaurant last Sunday and were very disappointed in both the service and the food.We waited 1hour for our meal and it certainly wasn`t worth waiting for.Firstly my husbands chikken and sweetcorn soup was over spicy. His chicken curry was okay but my meal was abysmal.I ordered chicken and cashew nuts which is supposed to be mild,,,DEFINITELY NOT HOT,,,,it was more like a very hot curry.I had to leave most of my meal and when we told them it was far too spicy the waiter just smiled. He couldn`t have cared less,,,,,also the food and drink is overpriced for what you get.We would never go here again

We had a half hour wait until it was ready which was fine. The waiter was very friendly and it was a nice touch that I could see the chefs at work from where I was standing. I really liked the purple decor, I notice that others have commented that it is dated but when the food is this good it really doesn't matter. There were some Asian people dining there too which is always a good sign.Everything was delicious and good quality - Thai spring rolls, Phad Thai noodles and massaman curry. Thursday 10th February 2016. Meeting with a colleague that started with just a coffee but as time ran on decided it was time for lunch. My friend having never been to Thai Siam, I thought it was time for him to experience some authentic flavours and some very good home cooking. The restaurant was quite but we were made welcome by the young lady that was on duty and waitressing on the day. Menus presented and questions answered we opted to share the "salad" a Som Tam Thai Spicy green papaya salad with peanuts, it was a delight, fresh, fragrant full of flavour, crisp salad and a sort of palate cleanser befor the mains. The mains were the Kra Prow With Minced chicken meat with kra prow sauce and vegetables and the Pad Kra Tream Prik Thai GaiStir fried chicken with peper, chilli, spring onion, onion and garlic, and just to add a little more authenticity topped with a crispy fried egg.what can I say, my taste buds are dancing just thinking about yesterday's lunch. A special mention must go to the chef, a lovely lady that explained the combination of flavours and the cooking process. Thank, look forward to joining you again

We were excited for a rare opportunity of a takeaway and felt really let down by Thai Siam. We opted for collection of Set Menu 2 which was stated for 2 people and it was just not enough! Usually set menus for 2 people could almost feed 3 and the 2 of us finished feeling hungry. The chicken satay starter was delicious however it only came with a very small portion of satay sauce. The vegetable spring rolls tasted fresh and came with just enough sweet chilli sauce. We found the soup to be greasy however tasty. The mains was where we were really let down. The veg was cut with corrugated knife which was odd. The honey chilli chicken had 4 small bits of chicken in it. The beef curry was spicy and tasty but again felt greasy. We have always found Thai food to be less greasy than a Chinese however we were disappointed not only by the portion size but also by the overall quality, sad to say we would not order again nor go for a sit down meal.

Everything had a tangy, sour flavour, but it wasn´t terrible.

This restaurant needs a management shake up! The staff were very pleasant but totally incompetent. My main meal came without any plate to put the contents on, no fork and by time this was sorted meal was cold. In addition, When my partners meal came it was served on bed of lettuce. When he said menu said fresh vegetables they took it away only to bring back the exact same dish. When he complained that this was not any better they said he could have vegetables but we would have to wait for ages. We sought the manager only to be told there was no one there. They then called the manager but they had gone on a plane so could not speak. How they managed to ascertain this when mobiles are switched off on flights shows the complete rubbish we were being told. We walked out- this is the first time we have ever walked out a restaurant.

They will make dishes as spicy as you wish and when I said I liked lots of veg the chef did extra to suit me. The gra ree curry baps are like little curry filled Cornish pasties and were delicious. My friend had prawn salad which was fresh flavoured and tangy. The mains were equally good with big portions all freshly cooked and flavoursome. The next table ordered a whole sea bass....I'll be having that next time, it looked awesome! Prices are very reasonable, mains mostly about £8-9. I was attracted to this place by some of the reviews where the emphasis was never mind the decor, enjoy the food. Well, the decor is a bit last century, but the food was nothing special. Charming service throughout. The special prawns had lots of batter and sweet cream sauce but little meat, and the signature dish of beef was reminiscent of an upmarket Chinese restaurant of the 1970s. Overall, reasonable but I won't be rushing back.

Set menu was really good value by Aberdeen's standards. Selection of starters, then choice of soup or crispy aromatic duck, then a selection of three main courses accompanied by rice and noodles and finished off with tea of coffee - all for £16 per person. And I couldn't fault the food at all - everything was delicious and the portions were perfect.Service was on the slow side but personally I prefer a bit of time between courses rather than everything coming in quick succession. To be honest I might not even have noticed the gaps if the waitress hadn't volunteered an apology, saying that they were very busy with takeaway orders (there were only two other occupied tables in the restaurant).A couple of minor gripes: when I asked for a small glass of wine I was told they only served it in 350ml glasses! (Or else by the bottle). Rather than giving us a jug of water I had to keep asking for my water glass to be refilled. However, these really are minor things and I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

Saturday 4th July 2015 we headed to The Thai Siam restaurant, a small but friendly establishment that could accommodate about thirty dinners comfortably. The young couple working "front of house" were polite, friendly and made you welcome whilst providing a good service. For a small restaurant it had a rather large menu offering an array of authentic Thai dishes. Once our party of four settled in and read the menu and made our selection it was not long before a flavoursome and colourful selection of dishes were presented in front of us. For starters the flavours and textures did not disappoint and plates were quickly cleared. Mains arrived accompanied by rice and noodles, again presentation was good and the food enjoyed by all. With a couple bottles of wine, and a few soft drinks the bill was under twenty five pounds per head. So all in all a good meal very reasonably priced. If there was a down side, maybe the chefs should consider reducing the selection available and creating one or two specials of the house.

Earmarked for several months and finally made it on Tuesday 19th May for dinner. A small, and tastfully decorated restaurant was the ideal setting for a light dinner. The young waitress Treated us with a friendly welcome, and a professional service during our meal. A large menu for a small place made choosing difficult. For the appetiser "Som Tam Thai" was the selection, a spicy green papaya salad with peanuts. Crisp, fresh, fragrant with a little crunch from the peanuts was a great palate cleanser and the hot chilli after kick made you appreciate the balance of flavours. A great dish to start with. "Penang Gai" a red chicken curry and coconut milk with lime leaves, and the "Thai Siam Kra Krow Gai" chicken strips in Kra prow sauce were the preferred options for mains. Both very pleasant dishes full of flavour, but the Penang Gai was the clear winner, light, creamy, with a little heat from the chilli was absolutely delicious. Credit to the kitchen team. As stated a small friendly welcoming resturant worthy of an other visit. Which I'm sure will not be too far away. Thank you a little gem of a place.

My partner and I took the opportunity of a night in Aberdeen to indulge in some Thai food - we live in the country and Thai restaurants are fairly non-existent. Google maps brought this one up as the nearest one to our accommodation, so we thought we'd give it a try even though it didn't look particularly inviting from the outside. We were welcomed warmly and service was quick and efficient. We had the Pad Thai and Sweet and Sour Chicken, and both were delicious, with perfectly judged portion size. We'd also asked for prawn crackers, which unfortunately got forgotten until we were half way through our meal, but the waiter apologised profusely and gave us them free - was fine by us! Our only regret is that we had no coinage at all to tip with - sorry, we would have, and will tip double next time to make up for it!

My wife is Thai and we have lived here 30 years and this is the only Thai restaurant I have managed to get her to go and eat at more than once in Aberdeen. The menu is mostly dishes that we both love , and is a pleasure to have them cooked by someone else. There is one negative, if you expect fast service at a busy time, its the wrong place to go eat which is why service gets a 3 , not the quality just the speed. For us personally that does not worry us, we enjoy the aromas and the food, and eating Thai style is to chat, eat ,drink , but all done slowly . My advice , give it a go midweek when you are not in a hurry, for us its a place to go ,eat rice, enjoy and let the food send your taste buds on a trip of delight.I recommend the Kaeng Kiew Wan Gai , Duck Salad, Laab moo ,Som tham Thai and finally always order stir fried vegetables, gives the hot stuff a balance. Once the food is ordered share everything, that is real Thai Food eaten the traditional Thai way.

Went here Thursday nite with 5 other girls from work, bit confusing for the waitress as had booked for 8 but only 6 of us could go... as we had a groupon voucher for 8 we decided to just order the 2 extras 2 share between us all.... bit of an unfair voucher deal as u have either half duck to share between 2 or half duck to share between 4... if I had been aware would have bought 4 vouchers for 2 people instead of 2 vouchers for 4 people as half duck between 4 is really small.... so we ordered 2 half ducks between 4 of us and ordered mains for the other 2 people... food really tasty but a bit sporadic with delivery 4 starters arrived then waitress went off to serve another table had bit of wait for the other 4. Same again with main half table served then of 2 the other table to serve them... also ordered drinks which never arrived, but got a drink we never asked for.... good value with groupon deal if for 2 people but not great between 4. had bill of £40 extra as duck was only enough between 4 of us it would never have served 8... all in nice food service bit odd not particularly big portions... would go again if had a voucher but maybe not otherwise.

We arrived at 8pm for our pre-booked table and were asked to sit on a soft, low sofa right by the door for 10-15 minutes till we were seated. We felt a touch 'in the way' as customers came and went and folk popped in to pick up takeaways. The waiter took our drinks and order quickly enough, but by 8.45 we had to stop a passing member of staff to chase up the prawn crackers we'd ordered. We weren't the only ones to wait a long time for food and the dishes arrived at various tables in bits and pieces - no full service to at table at any one time. When the starters eventually arrived, the satay skewers and vegetable spring rolls were fine, and the spicy papaya salad we shared was particularly nice. The mains - beef Siam and a vegetarian tofu dish were also okay. We decided not to stay for coffee or desert given the long delays between orders and delivery. The food was nice enough, and the staff very friendly, but every interaction began with a 'sorry' for one reason and another. It is clear the kitchen struggles when the restaurant is full, particularly as takeaways were being prepared at the same time. And attention to detail could make all the difference - the waiting staff could check on customers more often, and all the tealights at the tables had burnt out. We would perhaps go back, but on a weeknight in the hope a less busy restaurant might see us served more quickly. A few simple improvements could see turn into a four star rating without too much difficulty.

Came here for a romantic valentines's dinner with my husband. Very friendly staff, but they didn't speak much English... Food was average. Had the assorted Thai starter for 2 which was alright, and then we had satay chicken (which didn't come with grilled veg as the menu claimed) and pad prik tai dam gai for main course. The interior is not very salubrious and the beer was luke warm. I think we'll choose Royal Thai next time we fancy Thai in Aberdeen...

we went with a groupon, which was fantastic value. booking was no problem, there was one couple when we arrived, noone else entered the whole time.i feel for the owners of this place, as the food, especially the papaya salad and the duck, was very good. however, although very frindly, the person serving us spoke very little english, misunderstood us a couple of times, and was unsure about what we could or could not order. the glass of house wine was fine and reasonably priced, but because of the staff's nerves and the empty place i am not sure i would go back; maybe more likely to do so in a group.not the romantic dinner i had hoped for, but the food was very nice and plenty of it.

I have eaten here several times and the food is always great quality and value. The chuchi koong is my favourite dish. My partner has spent several months in Thailand and feels that this is the most authentic thai here, it's run by Thai people. They also run a small stall in the market, which is just as good with a slightly different menu, great for lunch. Although the market and stall aren't much to look at the amazing, great value food and friendly service make it well worth a visit.

We hadn't booked and arrived here on a Friday evening having heard some good reports. We were pleasantly welcomed and shown to a table at the back of the almost empty restaurant, by the kitchen door, high chair and toilets. We asked if we could sit at the other end and we chose a table by the window. The menu was extensive, probably a little too much to choose from. We had sticky prawns and vege spring rolls to start, nicely presented and well cooked with good flavours. To follow I had a Thai seafood and vegetable dish with garlic and chilli. Good flavours, chilli was just about right, any more would have been much too hot. My partner chose a vegetable curry with noodles which was a huge portion, served plated up rather than in separate dishes and was more Chinese flavour than Thai. The décor was modern with purples and golds but the tables would have been enhanced with cloth rather than paper covers for an evening. Service was courteous and smiley, but at times timid and vague without confidence.

Love eating here, we have been three weeks on the trot! The family who run the restaurant are very welcoming (a little bit sow with drinks etc, but very happy to help when you get their attention), and they produce simple but fantastically authentic and tasty Thai dishes. A relaxed and casual place. We'll be back soon!

Had a groupon coupon to use so arrived here for lunch with my daughter. We hadn't booked and the voucher was only for evenings but we decided to stay anyway as there was a large table of Thai families with delicious looking food being enjoyed. The menu is extensive and we felt split for choice. We shared a few starters and my daughter ordered a bowl of noodle soup. The bowl was enormous and the chef came to offer a small bowl for me to share it. There appeared to be only to ladies here - one waitress and the other, the chef. The chef came to enquire how we were enjoying our meals in a way that was genuine and friendly. The restaurant is open from 12-2pm and as we had arrived after 1.30pm we were the only diners left, but felt under no pressure to leave. I would certainly visit again.

Disappointed and ripped off is how I felt. Was in Aberdeen for two days only and was looking forward to a Thai meal but instead received Chinese food under the guise of Thai. How do These people get away with it and what is there reason pretending to be Thai when they are anything but. If you have never been to Thailand or an authentic Thai restaurant perhaps you wouldn't know the difference but we certainly did. Apart from that portions were small and the rice must have been cooked over and over again, it was as hard as a cricket ball.

I took the missus here on a Tuesday evening. Decor is a bit tired and tatty. There's a large menu, probably as a result of catering to takeaways. We went for the platters to try a few dishes. The red curry was probably the tastiest. Service was very slow which would be understandable if the food was good but I think that the quality is on a par with an average takeaway. The restaurant was nearly empty and it appeared that the takeaway orders were the cause of our food being slow to arrive. The waitress was very apologetic. I can't really recommend it.

We had a very tasty meal at Thai Siam. There was a good choice of food, with both familiar options and some more obscure dishes for the adventurous. There was a very distinct flavour to each dish we tried. Dishes don't have a heat rating on them, but the staff are knowledgeable and will mention if something is spicy. Everything we ate was full of flavour, but not spicy-hot.The staff were very friendly and eager to please, but not to the point of being at all intrusive.Prices are pretty reasonable - most starters are £4-5, the main courses £8-10 (some include rice/noodles, but for some you have to order those extra), or there is steak or sea bass which is just a little pricier. Wine is around £15 a bottle. The location is pleasant enough, on Castlegate, so right in the city centre. On the downside, there's not much easy parking nearby if you are driving. We went on a Tuesday evening, and it was maybe half-full at 8:30pm, empty by the time we left at 9:45. There's not many tables, so I would expect that on a busier night of the week it could get full up quite easily. Tables were spaced apart well enough, it didn't feel cramped.

Knew this restaurant from Aberdeen market. They expanded it now, and we have ordered take away before. Came here this time for a sit in experience, it was okay. The reason that I always return is because of its king prawn delight. Absolutely amazing dish that I would recommend everyone to try. Other dishes are not bad too. The price is reasonable. Portion is just right. Overall good.

Arguably best thai food in Aberdeen. This is the third thai restaurant I visit in Aberdeen. By far the taste is the best. Closest to Thai food in Thailand. The food was spicy and tasty. Good ingredient. The price is a little too high. The service is a little slow. The waitress is very friendly. Met with the cook and the owner. They are couple from Thailand. Definitely recommend.

Unfortunately, as with all the other Thai/Chinese restaurants/takeaways I've tried in Aberdeen; this establishment's signature dish appears to be based on the same intensively produced, super cheap, glucose solution pumped chicken breast. I love Thai food, that's partially why it's so disappointing. The best Thai food I've had in Aberdeen is the stuff I made in my own Kitchen. I don't want to pick on Aberdeen but I feel as though there are many restaurants in this town that would be out of business were they situated in other towns or cities, where they would find themselves unable to compete on either quality or price. Thai Siam can join that dubious club. By now I'm disillusioned enough to abandon my fruitless quest to find a good Thai Green Curry in Aberdeen. It's going to have to be the cook books and the Chinese supermarket from now on. If I can't be bothered cooking, and fancy some Thai food, I'll just go to Curry Club at Wetherspoon's; get a similar standard of food and save myself a wallet full in the process. As for the interior; I don't like this 'discotheque' theme and it looked a little scruffy. No draught beer, so bottles, so approximately £6 equivalent for a pint of Singha or Chang.

We stumbled across this restaurant looking for somewhere to eat before a show at the Lemon Tree. Feeling very hungry we decided to order the banquet. Every dish was delicious...freshly prepared and full of flavour. One of the starters....chicken served in lettuce had enough chillies added to hit the spot for my partner who likes to spice up his food. We liked the pace of service which let us enjoy each course without rushing in to the next one. We didn't quite manage to finish everything served but we tried! Excellent value and customer service.

Suffers a liitle from being slightly off the main drag of Aberdeen, in the Castlegate, Food is very good and very good value. Drinks list is a bit limited but will no doubt get busier as the restaurant develops. Good variety on the menu and excellent value. Worth stepping the extra few yards to support a business an historical area of Aberdeen that is largely ignored.

Called in for an early evening dinner at the Thai Siam and had no problems getting a table for two. We chose starters of steamed prawn dumplings and a spicy Gang Liang Gai soup, which soon disappeared. The generous portions of the main dishes, chicken satay, served with steamed rice and the red Thai curry, Penang Gai, were very tasy, but could have done with being hotter (temperature wise).Disappointingly no coffee, other than instant, available and the restaurant doesn't take credit cards, which necessitated a trip across the Castlegate to a cashline machine.Bill including two soft drinks came to just under £33.

Having been to the owner's cafe in the Aberdeen Market, a few friends and I visited Thai Siam for a late evening meal. Although it was rather late and we had a fairly large group, the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was as good as I expected, and the menu is now much more varied than at the cafe. I'd definitely recommend the set menus; amazing value for money! It's only been open for a couple of months, so I expect things to get even better once it's really up and running.

This is by far the worst dining experience I have EVER had in Aberdeen. This place is a passing ship, The decor is as bland as the food. The whole setting is a cheap greasy spoon cafe, with cash only payments. It was cold and very unwelcoming. Even though we were the only customers in we were rushed out by 8.30! The staff were rude and suddenly developed a lack of understanding the english language when a complaint was made!

I have had a few Thai meals in the past and I'd say that this place is ok - nothing spectacular. The most disappointing thing was they do not accept credit cards and they were not able to provide a VAT receipt - not sure how this place will keep running if they continue like this. The atmosphere of the place is poor and the decor bland. It's a shame because if run properly this family business could be busy every evening. The meal didn't start off great either as the plastic tablecloth was dirty when I was seated. Another minor detail is that the napkins are paper ones. If you're looking for a dining experience, then avoid this place, but if you just want a simple filling meal then this place might just be ok for you.

A very welcoming place, with friendly staff. The food was…nice. But unfortunately, not very distinctively Thai, certainly when compared with Thai restaurants we have tried in Edinburgh. Maybe it was the options we chose, but the wonderful aromatic fragrances which set Thai food apart simply weren’t there for us. The wine options were also a bit limited and inhibited. White wine offerings were Colombard Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio or chardonnay-based Chablis. Nothing really fragrant on offer, like a Riesling, Viognier or even a Sauv Blanc. Would be prepared to give Thai Siam another try, given other people's positive reviews, just in case we simply chose the wrong options.

Loved the food here, Have tried both restaurant and take-away menu with equal delight. Really glad i found this little nugget tucked away in Aberdeen's Castlegate area. Not too many people know about it yet and even though it's often busy asking for a table without a booking was no trouble at all. Staff are very very polite and make you feel very welcome. Being bowed to on arrival and when being served was not only very polite but very charming and shows something of the humility and humbleness of the Thai people. Have talked business there with clients twice now and it's been lucky for me.. so I'll definitely be back. food is well presented, Place is clean and staff very friendly. Very nice place.
