I went to buy a meal takeaway, they asked me about my ethnicity & they asked me about my religion. (they weren't convinced about my ethnicity) Then the man at the reception charged me extra for the food because it is hot (spicy), apparently they charge extra for "hot" food. Will never go back there again. They ruined my day.

Myself & my wife both agree we found the food very bland on a whole. One of the dishes (lamb passanda) we tried and it was awful, we didnāt eat it. Something I didnāt like was when we attended the restaurant was literally empty and we were the first to be seated, as the other customers arrived they were literally seated right next to us and as there was no background music at the time it was a little awkward. Weāve eaten in every Indian around the area and this is by far the worst experience weāve had. We wonāt return

I visited this restaurant last Saturday and honestly exceeded my expectations in a positive manner! Being centred in the heart of Newark-on-Trent, I was honestly expecting nothing more than an average Indian-themed restaurant on a rainy evening. However, the ambient atmosphere and amazing staff proved otherwise. First and foremost, the food was a traditional delicacy, I could tell that it was made in the traditional way (which is its unique selling point), and the quality was good overall. The food arrived in around 20-30 minutes so there really wasn't a long wait (however there weren't many people at that time since we came quire early so that may be a contributing factor). I'd personally recommend their meal for two, since it provides you with a variety of Indian dishes (Along with the naans!) for a relatively low price. The staff were polite and attended to our needs, which is the basis of a good-quality restaurant. However, one of the core areas for improvement would be to improve the toiletry facilities, for it appears to be quite run down and un-catered for in certain aspects. In addition, the staff were relatively stressed and tired (with it being Saturday night), which may have resulted in a slightly burnt naan, and due to there not being any others present towards the start of our dining, the restaurant was relatively desolate and quiet, resulting in all of the staff staring at our table as we communicated. However, in conclusion, this is certainly the best Indian restaurant in Newark-on-Trent and I'd highly reccomend dining there if you haven't already! Would certainly reccomend to my friends! š 4/5

Great food, friendly service and reasonably priced. Really enjoyed this authentic Thai meal. Staff are friendly and courteous, beers are reasonably priced for a restaurant. Best sit down Thai meal in Newark. As a table of 4 we tried various mains and all were high standard and friends left impressed with their trip to Newark.

Wow, visiting Newark for a concert, tried a few other restaurants that were fully booked, hit upon Asha, and hit the jackpot. The food was excellent. Even the poppadoms were mouthwatering. My wife had the vegetarian thali (see picture) she is not usually one to be impressed by food (of any description) but she hasn't shut up about it all night. I had the mixed balti (no prawns for me) the chicken and lamb were superb. Will definitely be back.

We visited on Sat 27th Jan at 6pm. Restaurant soon came very busy and noisy, but good to see a restaurant busy at this time of year. Our food tasted good, but service was awful and soo slow. After 90mins we'd only eaten starters and still hadn't received our main courses. Bill came to Ā£120 (no service charge included) so asked for 10% discount due to very slow service. We expected some delays due to it being busy, but not this long. Probably stick to takeaway next time as food is good.

Was originally a walk in, understand this is a struggle at best. Agreed a time to return time and have a table. We were told to wait when we returned, then another couple walked in after us and seated straight away which was also a walk in, this at the point was beyond a joke. The gent behind the bar has limited customer service skills, limited is actually a compliment! Always enjoyed food here, but this leaves a sour taste.

I've eaten at this restaurant several times over the last year, on each time the meal has been amazing with fantastic personal service, however on this occasion sat. 20th Jan 2024 the whole experience was very disappointing. Table of four booked for 7.30 and the restaurant gave me a special area to sit, but that's where it ends. The service used to be exceptional but last night the army of youngsters waiting on tables did not work for me. On more than one occasion it was hard to get any service, and whilst taking our order the young waitress appeared more interested in joining her friends conversation than listening to our food requests. The food portions reflected the service with overpriced accompaniments for the already expensive main course meals not offering a proportionate value for money ratio. The wine and beers were also overpriced and unceremoniously dropped on the table. The food came to our table in a staggered order and the meat content to the meals was minimum. Unfortunately this would now be my last visit to this restaurant as in an already competitive market the Thai sabai fell very well short of the standards expected to the price of the food,, eg Ā£12.95 apx for pad tai (noodles), and Ā£4.50 for a small /tiny portion of overcooked and dry sticky rice.. Sorry to the management but you have disappointed us tonight.

Phoned restaurant to complain and person on the other end of the phone was so rude refused to help and hung up on me. Will not be ordering from here again. Although food was tasty I wouldnāt recommend staff have zero customer service skills. I used to eat here regularly and went to school with the owners son. Clearly standards donāt exist here anymore

This was the third time I've eaten here, with my brother, who moved to Newark in the last year. It won't be my last. It's worth coming down from Scotland for the food here alone. He's very fond of the crispy chicken, while I like to work my way through the menu. This time, we had the mixed starters, familiar fare but perfectly made, and I chose the Tiger Steak main, excellent with khao nieaw (sticky rice), all washed down with Singha beer. And neither of us can resist the crispy banana and 'ay thim' (ice cream) for us puds. Nok is a charming and 'sanuk' host, and her 'phii saaw' (older sister) a fine cook. I look forward to my next trip south!

Bhunaa was small silver tray..... 4 - 5 small cubes of chicken and a not so tasty gravy to accompany it. Ended up in the bin. Chicken Biryarni...... 4 pieces of chicken and what seemed like very low quality microwave 10 colours of rice.............. Sorry guys.......... I've had over a thousand curries and this was just nowhere near the middle...... never mind the top. I hope you can accept what might seem harsh feedback and make improvements to make you a success. Had a pleasant meal at Thai Sabai but not sure I would visit again. Both our dishes contained the same vegetables although one was a beef dish and the other was a fish dish and unfortunately the beef was dry and chewy. The sea bass looked attractive but wasn't as moist and fresh as I'd have liked. The staff were pleasant especially the Thai waitresses who were charming and helpful. The atmosphere was lively and it seemed like a popular spot.

Passing through Newark-on-Trent and stopped to eat here, always a bit apprehensive of UK thai food (either extremely pricey or a bit rubbish) but this restaurant really exceeded our expectations... My husband is from Australia where Thai food is more popular, and we would still rate this restaurant as one of the best! We arrived just after 5pm on a Sunday, so the restaurant was pretty empty (lucky for us), but I'm surprised it's ever empty with food if this quality. I had the battered vegetable starter, my husband the spring rolls, both were perfect - the batter was EXACTLY what a batter should be, light, crisp and flavoursome. My husband had the penang curry, I had the thai beef salad - not very adventurous but it's been so long we thought we'd better sick with our staples - the beef in my salad was so tender, my husband rated the penang among the best he's ever had. He had a side of steamed jasmine rice but would have been happy to eat it without, the sauce was delicious. The serving sizes were nite than adequate following a starter, we both have good appetites! The restaurant itself was beautifully designed with lovely details, without the tacky stuff... making a perfect atmosphere for a celebratory meal. The service was quick but not rushed, and our server (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name!) was very friendly and welcoming. The bill was cheaper than we expected for the quality too. If we lived here it would be our go-to take-out/ restaurant when friend visit. What a gem in such as small town! Also had a couple of espresso - the coffee is great! There were a few street parking spots outside, but we left our car in the larger car park after charging (by the b&q), only an 8 min walk to stretch our legs. Not sure where to recommend to park closer, I'm sure if you call ahead they will let you know.

The portions are good, my husband's salmon was massive! Decor was lovely, smart working with the exposed bricks. The only annoyance really was how slow the service was, we were not seated for 15 minutes despite booking in advance and there was about 40 minutes between our starter and main course. Have eaten here loads of times in the past and always had good food so assumed take out would be good to. Really dry chicken in the curry, found a piece of chicken skin in the sauce, and the naan bread was very dry and over cooked. Really disappointed and not cheap at over Ā£40.00 for two people, only having one dish each? ? Have since spoken to the manager of the restaurant who has apologised for the poor standard of food and has offered a partial credit/refund of our meal. We will try again another time.

Had a delivery Friday night, ordered the lime pickle tub, got a spoonful in it, not even quarter full. The chicken korma came in a rice sized tub, quite small for Ā£10, 5 pieces of chicken. Colour was more grey green and couldn't taste the coconut at all or taste much at all. The garlic pilau rice had burnt bits of garlic in it which was quite bitter. The onion bhajis were quite starchy and stodgy flat heavy, not crispy or light but each restaurant has its own style. Not really impressed, feel like there is a little lack of love and attention here. Not great, but okay..ish. Could definitely save my money and make my own better. Naan was nice though and delivery lady.

I booked a table online for my husbands birthday. On arrival we didn't receive a very warm welcome, we said we had a table booked and he went to look in the reservation book only to see our reservation was not in the book. After making us feel awkward I showed him my phone with the reservation email. Only then did he sit us at a table.(it was 7pm and not busy!) We waited 20 minutes to be offered drinks and when they arrived we ordered a few pappadums. When those arrived with only 3 dips which only had chunky onions that looked like they'd just been topped up, lime pickle and the very thin chutney. We ordered starters of chicken tikka which was dry and overcooked with wilted salad and my husband had chicken chaat which looked like dark brown sludge. At this point I was thinking of leaving as if the starters were this bad how could the mains be any better? I wish we did leave, we both had different curry's but both look exactly the same! The onion bhaji were rock hard and the bombay potatoes were spicy and over cooked. The older waiters were not very warm and friendly, we didn't feel like they were attentive and we couldn't wait to leave. My only regret is not complaining about the food and actually spending Ā£80 in there. Especially as I felt ill all night because of their oily food that violated my stomach! Also to add that the table we were sat at the curtains were dirty and splashed with food, the light fittings were broken and the ladies toilets were not clean. The table cloth underneath was stained and the the waiters shirts were dirty and splashed with food. After being in a lockdown you'd think they would take the opportunity to deep clean the place and replace broken fittings and dirty curtains. Maybe give the place a lick of paint. I feel bad I booked this place but this is why I felt I needed to leave this review to spare other customers after all isn't that what an honest review is for?
