We ate here for the first time this evening, wow the food was amazing authentic Thai food, best we’ve had for a long time all the staff was friendly and couldn’t do enough for you! Highly recommend, we even took some food home and ordered extra for take away! A must visit

Went for a Mother’s day meal . This is an occasion restaurant and it is a perfect size for a cosy dining experience. The service is attentive but not over bearing . The food is tasty and fresh . Average pricing that prefers cash . It’s a real gem

First visit for myself with a friend last night who recommended this place to me a while back and I’ve been longing to go. The wait did not disappoint. Simply delicious Thai food with super fresh ingredients and the most welcoming and friendly staff. Reasonably priced too so will definitely return 👍😊

This is a gem of a restaurant in Southport. If you like Thai food then you will not be disappointed. Great place. Have been many times and always great food and a lovely atmosphere.

Amazing food again when visiting with the family for my son’s birthday . The staff are so welcoming and the food is delicious and beautiful presented. It’s my favourite Thai restaurant. We love the sharing platters to start and everyone loved their food. We had various Thai curries and stir fries with different rices. All excellent. The set menu was really good too

Here for dinner with a couple of friends part way through a night out. The place itself is nice, and the staff super friendly and helpful. Service was very good throughout. There's a big menu, lots of choice, but to simplify matters we decided on their set menu B. See their website for details. After the mains, for dessert, I had the deep fried Ice cream. A block of Ice cream, wrapped in filo pastry and fried, served with a sauce. All the food was delicious, and full of flavour. And all washed down with some Thai beer, also very nice. That said, I did have a couple of reservations. I thought the portion sizes could've been a little larger, for the price (not the dessert, which was huge). For instance (and not to sound greedy), the steamed rice that accompanied the mains I could've ate myself. Once split between three it seemed a bit meagre. And on one dish there was brocolli. But when I bit into it it was raw, and so very hard. Maybe it was supposed to be garnish, but you see brocolli, you're gonna (try an) eat it... Niggles aside, It was a beautiful meal, and I would (and very likely will) go back. For Thai food fans I'd happily recommend paying them a visit when in town.

Excellent restaurant, very helpful polite staff and top notch authentic food. The atmosphere is great, very relaxed one of the best Thai meals we had on our visit here and we cannot wait to go back. There is wide variety of choices both for food and drinks, if you like Thai food visit to this place is a must!

First time visiting Thai Rice, though have had take away from here which was excellent. The service in the restaurant was good without being overbearing. Food was delicious and good value for money.

Having not visited Southport for a long time we decided to have a a couple of nights break with family . After a terrific day firstly on Ainsdale beach and a lovely lunch at Dukes also in delightful Ainsdale we headed back to our hotel....

Fantastic good, so much choice and have never had a bad meal. Staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. This is our favourite restaurant to visit and think it’s a hidden gem!

Dined here in the evening the staff make you feel instantly welcome with friendly service throughout the evening. Food was of a good standard with substantial portions both of starters and main courses. They serve an excellent full bodied red wine which is often lacking...

What a little gem of a find.starting with authentic prawn crackers followed by the mixed platter starter and the duck starter between 4 of us. Absolutely lovely. The spring rolls were my favourite. I ordered Thai green curry with chicken and my husband the red. We were both blown away with the authentic flavours and taste. The children whilst not having a menu had a satay starter and noodles, and fries. The only element that was a little strange but tasty was the extra green sauce on the satay starter in the meal and mixed starter. It was nice but didn’t mix well with the peanut sauce. The restaurant itself was super clean and efficiently ran. The children had an elderflower cordial which made a fab change for them and we had white wine which was simple but tasty. From the outside it looked like a glorified greenhouse however the plants and sparkly lights when inside were providing such a pleasant atmosphere. No photos unfortunately as we tucked in too quickly

Was recommended Thai Rice of Southport. First visit had Express lunch ..excellent food and service ..will defo be returning with friends. Even managed to get a parking space right outside £1.50 hour £3 for 2hours. Had to put all this info Cos trip advisor kept telling me to write more characters

An Evening out with friends. My fist time here - but my friends visit frequently. Was recommended the duck samosa as a starter, which came piping hot & crispy with a tasty hoi-sin sauce. The Pork Spare Ribs looked like a generous plateful. I chose the classic Pad Thai with prawns … lovely & fresh - but I would have preferred a bit more seasoning. My friends had Mussaman curry and a Beef Red curry …. The sauces were delicious! Meal for 4 with beers cost £84. Looking forward to another visit & am going to try something with 1 or 2 chilli symbols !

We ended up here by chance on a rainy Friday night as we’d parked nearby and so glad we did! We got the last table so we’re lucky. The food was amazing! The 3 of us had 3 courses all of which were beautiful and very tasty! I’m not familiar with Thai food but love spice and all dishes were extremely tasty and beautifully presented(yes even the flowers made out of a swede !) we will be sure to return again.

Just been for lunch and food and service again very good.Just read the review from patk, and must say probably the taste buds were impaired with the rose'. My wife usually has the pad thai and today as usual flavoured with the tamarind was of a very high standard.Highly recommend this restaurant.Ted Baxter

I very really write mediocre reviews they’re all usually glowing, credit where it’s due, or sadly discredit where it is NOT. I use Tripadvisor ALL the time (as I travel A LOT) and I usually (apart from the typical whiners (who are never satisfied) I find it broadly a wonderfully good source for good direction. Sadly this meal, at this restaurant was pretty dismal to say the least, and the least was the coriander in my Pad Thai, it was actually the biggest flavour hit of the whole meal. Which was Bland, bland and blander still, nothing had any taste or flavour, or interest. A fancy cut flower turnip was still a piece of boring turnip, the prawns where completely tasteless and I swopped two of my supposed marinaded tasteless calamari for a tasteless green curry spring roll from my husband, who had actually ordered a green curry samosa ‍♀️ I told the English waitress, as I paid the bill, though she clearly hadn’t told the Thai staff, of my disappointment, however they seemed to quickly check that I’d paid the full whack. They did not seem in the least concerned that we were so badly let down. £16,75 for a bottle of house rosé, was OK, but I’d have to say that was probably at least an £11 mark up. Any genuine reviewers of this place feel free to convince me otherwise, I even suggested the chef might have been on holiday, but seems not, and the other people in the restaurant where also getting VERY fast food delivered to their table, which isn’t consistent with our dozen or more times visiting Thailand, or other Thai restaurants.

When we visit Southport, which is quite a few times, we always book a meal here. Let me say it is the BEST restaurant that I know of in Southport. None have matched their great food and service and believe me we have tried quite a few in Southport. I recommend it. Good food, good service and a nice clean atmosphere

Absolute gem of a restaurant hidden up a side street off Lord Street. Food was amazing. I’m coeliac and they provided me with gf soya sauce to accompany my meal. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.

First visit. I was underwhelmed by the menu and then by the food.A significant lack of side dishes.Main courses are effectively a copy of four meals in a choice of four meats and a veggie option which is about half the menu.The mixed starter for two was far far from heute cuisine and mostly tasted of oil. My main, despite 3 chili's heat warning wasn't really hot and my partner thought the duck was far from the promised crispy that the menu promised.I did ask for a side that was off the menu (spicy omelette) which came as well though it was charged at £7.95 which was more like the cheaper mains than a side. 3 eggs lah!My partner enjoyed her Pad Thai very much but had to ask for extra spice condiments.Overall bill was £63 for two for dinner with two beers and the glasses of wine which is a bit steep.Unfortunately, later that night around 3am I felt a rumbling and sweats and then had an hours worth of food poisoning. Atmosphere wise the place was pretty good and it was full on a Saturday evening and notably half s dozen Asians in two groups but I couldn't say if they were regulars or first time visitors.

Lovely Thai meal. Went with the set menu, mixed starter then mains of beef, chicken, prawns, noodles and rice. All the dishes had a nice clean distinctive taste and were very good, preferred the red curry beef. We didn’t book but although it was busy they managed to squeeze us in. Friendly and helpful staff.

We have been to Thai rice on a number of occasions and it has always been great. We decided to go there last night for a meal, the meal was excellent as where the staff. My husband has to be very careful about his health especially during this time, the Covid procedures in the restaurant were strictly adhered to. It was so lovely to be out and feel safe. We will definitely visit again before too long.

We LOVE this place. We mainly go for the lunchtime menu in the day time and it’s always a treat. The service, food and value for money is second to none.

Looked for good restaurants to eat near our guest house before we arrived in Southport and also our guest house owners also recommended this lovely little Thai restaurant,very friendly staff & delicious food.We ordered a starter of spare ribs which were ok,& main courses of chicken pad Thai yellow curry & egg fried rice they were delicious, reasonably priced too.Well worth a visit when in Southport.Only a small restaurant but tables spaced out as they should be at the moment.

We stayed at Southport for the weekend of our 25th Wedding Anniversary and chose a Thai meal as we were married in Koh samui in 1995. (We would have gone back to Thailand if it hadn't been for Covid-19).Our hotel recommended this Thai restaurant and we were not disappointed. It was Covid safe and the service quick and efficient with lovely food. We didn't feel rushed but because the service was so efficient we did actually leave the restaurant quite early and had time for a stroll along the high street to walk off any excess.

Visited for first time for lunch. We both ordered green curry samosas for starters. Vegetable spring rolls arrived. Without thinking, I cut into one and then realised it was wrong. They were good so no problem, just not what expected. I did inform the lady as she cleared the table and suspect she didn’t understand me as she just smiled back in response. Main courses of Thai green curry and a chicken in ginger were both good. Small light restaurant. Very clean.

The rain was sheeting down on a cold, wet Saturday evening on what should have been the flower show weekend and by the time dinner came around, none of my gang could be bothered with getting glammed up and dining out.A search on Trip Advisor lead me to Thai Rice. And a great find it was too.I ordered a selection of starters, mains and sides that I thought our party of 6 would enjoy - with a little group input as well. Everyone raved about the quality and flavours of all the dishes. Ordering on the phone to collect was easy and I went to collect earlier than the allotted time and it was ready bang on time. Nice little touch from the owner was a couple of bottles of beer and two soft drinks on the house.Stand out dishes for us were the Thai Beef Salad, Beef Mussaman Curry, Ped Makham, Chickeb Grant Pe-NeangA great find and deffo on the list to return when back in Southport.. if the rain stops we may even dine in!

This was my 4th visit to Thai Rice - the previous 3 having been to dine in the restaurant and on each occasion I had enjoyed my meal.With the current "lock-down" due to the Covid19 virus, take away was the only option available.At about 5.30pm on a Wednesday evening, I phoned my order and was advised it would be about 20 minutes.I duly arrived and was warmly greeted. Yes, my food was ready. Excellent.Exchange of food carrier bag & cash was handled thoughtfully & professionally - the female chef bringing the food out of the kitchen & placing it on a table away from the counter and then retreating. Basically, physical distances were maintained and hand gel was available on the counter top. All very reasuring.Well done Thai Rice.The venue is ornate & authentic inside, displaying lots of Thai character.Service was friendly, helpful and efficient throughout.I was also given a complimentary can of coca cola as a "thank you" and unknown to me at the time of collection, a complimentary portion of banana fritters & syryp. A lovely touch.The menu is well designed giving sufficient descriptions of each dish - most of your regular Thai favourites are included and are well priced.I chose:"Thai Rice" Special Fried Rice (containing king prawns & chicken) at £7.95Pad Si-Ew - rice noodles with egg, veggie, pork & dark soy sauce at £6.95.A side of tamarind sauce (£2.50)The rice dish and the tamarind sauce went well todgether. The king prawns & chicken were moist & tasty.However, the Pad Si-Ew disappointed.Instead of glutonous, wide, fat flat rice noodles, the noodles here were thin and tastless, not absorbing the sauce like they should do.The cauliflower florets were a little too "al dente". The dish had no depth or subtlty of flavour and had a distinct lack of dark soy sauce. Portion size was good and all ingredients were fresh and of good quality (except for those rice noodles!)In summary the food is well priced, attractively presented and freshly cooked. Whilst I was disappointed with one dish, I would still return to Thai Rice and can recommend it.PRO TIP: when things get back back to normal after Covid19, there are two friendly bars next door to Thai Rice on Bold Street - Paul`s Bar and Kokomo - both well worth a try before and/or after your meal.

We eat here many times,I’ve eaten lots of meals from the menu all deliciously authentic,my partner alway goes for duck with tamarind sauce and crispy noodles she loves it and one of my favourites.if you like Thai food it’s a must!!!

The most authentic Thai food we’ve had since being in Thailand. Absolutely lovely! Pad Thai and Red Curry were out of this world. We went for the lunch menu too so great value!!

We visited today on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews but it was disappointing. My husband had a chef’s special but the crispy chicken was covered in skin and gristly bits under the coating. There was minimal chicken served. My Massaman curry was ok but lacked real flavour and was a bit “claggy.” We’ve had better food in the Giggling Squid chain. Service was good but the restaurant interior was a bit tacky and lacked class and ambiance. We won’t be going back, sorry.

Visit this restaurant at least once a month. The food is beyond tasty and nothing compares. It even inspired us to visit Thailand and I can honestly say apart from a few street food venders the food wasn’t as good. I adore this restaurant the staff are outstanding and being veggie is not a problem. Staff are so polite and humble. Absolutely fantastic!!

Nicely furnished, clean with friendly and efficient staff. Good selection of dishes available from the menu with variety of drinks. I visited with a group of wok colleagues and we opted for the set menu. Great selection of very tasty food which was served promptly and extra dishes provided in request. Very reasonably priced, well worth a visit which I will repeat for hen next visiting.

Good service, very reasonable prices. The menu features specific vegetarian options and there are plenty to choose from. I had tempura vegetables- nice and crisp but there was too much batter and too little veg. The Pad Thai was delicious.

We were recommended this restsurant by the owner of the guesthouse that we were staying in and it certainly didn't disappoint. The food was fabulous and the customer service was outstanding. We wiuld definitely recommend anyone who loves Thai food to try Thai Rice Restaurant.

I had one of the house special meals, it was delicious ...... I found the menu had a lot of choice and dishes that I had not come across in a Thai restaurant before. I have a number of food intolerance issues, being able to choose from their online menu with each dish clearly labelled for content even before arriving was amazing.

While visiting Southport the other week, we popped in to get a takeaway. All I can say is that the food was fantastic. Probably the best Thai food I've tasted outside of Thailand so far (and I've been there 3 times). Oh and thanks for the free coke we got with our meals. Would highly recommend Thai Rice.

Superb food great service and really good value for money. Took friends who were slightly dubious about Thai food as they don’t like spicy food. After the visit they said it was the best meal they had had for a long time. Recommend the banquets as you get a feel for all types of fish and meat.

After a gap of far too long I returned for lunch to this old favorite of mine wondering if it was still as good as I remember. Delighted to find it was, in fact due to the time apart it seemed even better. Chicken Sate' starter just wonderful and a good selection of main courses on the lunch time menu. A really good meal.

We found this little GEM last year and were still raving about it 12 months on. Needless to say it was our first choice for our dining experience during our Bank Holiday weekend.

Our second visit, very good again, food, service and value is excellent. This time a member of the party had certain allergies, the menu clearly indicates allergies and a query we had on a certain meal was sorted really efficiently by knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit.

This wS the first experience of thia food,can't believe I've been missing out on such tasty food it certainly will be a regular for me from now on.

We were looking for a Thai and we fell upon this one.....we are Thai experts and hunt out Thai restaurants in whatever city we are in. Welcome was not great...….we turned up on spec at around 21.30 and were told we needed to be gone by 23.00. No crackers on sitting down and when we asked for them ( normally they would be free) we were eventually charged for them. Food wise.....lovely.....sitting by the window was great.....plastic flowers but it felt very 'tropical'. All in all a good experience and if a Thai in Southport you are after go for this one!

Last Sunday 28th April, I celebrated my birthday with 9 members of my family. My daughters had mentioned it was a birthday party and they took in a cake for me. When we arrived the owner had put up birthday banners, supplied a couple of balloons, poppers and sprinkles on the table, although not always to everyone's wishes we thought it was very kind and thoughtful. The food was exceptional along with the service as nothing was too much trouble, and great value for money. I would highly recommend a visit and we will definitely be returning, hopefully very soon. Thank you to Thai Rice for making my birthday special.

We went for a family meal and were not disappointed. The staff were lovely, our orders quickly taken and drinks delivered. The mixed platter starter was delicious especially the prawn toast and spring rolls. We had opted for set meals, when the food arrived it was piping hot and plentiful. It was so good to return to Thai Rice, it has become a family favourite; even our children love it and as expected the meal on our recent visit was fabulous. The restaurant is always busy, customer service is great, food arrives swiftly, looks delicious and tastes excellent.
