We have been here a number of times. The food is excellent, the restaurant is lovely and the service is brilliant. They do takeaway and deliver too which is a bonus!

Living in Bath, it can be hard to come by good Thai food. We recently had our street added to the Deliveroo remit and were very excited by the prospect of getting yummy Thai food delivered to our doorstep. So, our family decided to order from Thai Magma (previously known as Thai by the Weir and located now on Argyle Street). The menu looked very exciting and after ordering a few curries we were ready to eat! 5 minutes into eating the meal, we find a toxic piece of plastic. Yes that’s right - PLASTIC. I am so happy that I did not invest it. Please see the photo below. Understand for yourself what the hygiene level of this restaurant is. Disgusting. 🤢 But here is where the story gets ‘good’. To top it all off, the experience was reported to the restaurant owner/manager - Ben. He kindly offered to provide our family with the next meal “free of cost”. So on a hot day we took him up on the kind offer (also giving them a second chance, while not reporting them to the Food Standard Agency). We went to pick up the food and the lady at the reception said we are not giving the meal for free it’s only one dish off. This argument continues for a good 10 minutes and made the kind gesture completely unpleasant. Oh well, we told them that we didn’t NEED the free meal and that the issue could have been resolved. However, we have no issues and have now reported them to the Food Standards Agency. I can only be happy no one in my family choked on plastic, especially the children. Please don’t eat at this restaurant - I highly recommend SalaThai also located in Bath or Thai Basil. They provide excellent service and have brilliant hygiene. Bonus - they’re not rude to their customers! ☺️

We’ve had a vegetarian takeaway from here twice in the last 2 weeks. The food is absolutely delicious and the lovely staff gave us free spring rolls, which was really kind :) The dumplings starter is our favourite - so yummy! They even cooked us something from the previous Thai Magma menu, as we hadn’t realised their menu had changed during the current situation. Really accommodating of them to do that :) Would highly recommend. We’ll be back soon!

Not much to say - can’t comment on the taste as on opening the first dish it had a 6 inch black hair buried in the food - thank god a saw it before I started to eat. My other half opened his portion of rice tentatively only to find cold crispy rise that was obviously cooked to this version of perfection using a microwave (hence the 20 minute delivery time form the other side of town) - so yes the whole lot went in the bin - £40 badly spent. We called them before leaving a review to ask if they could just refund us as we weren’t particularly hungry anymore - they said no - great

Everything about the meal was awful. If you like a watery curry that is full of oil and salt then this is for you, but if you like not having heart disease then I'd stay well away.

Ate here twice as I thought I have been only unlucky the first time around. They seem to have moved from Lower Bristol Rd back to Pultney Bridge now. This time I ordered a take away (lockdown) from their new location at the Pultney Weir: Prawn crackers - old like cardboard spring rolls - very little filling Fishcake too salty Gyoza was ok Pad Thai was ok Thai Green Curry - very watery 38 Special Fried Rice -absolutely awful! Left over rice mixed with left over veg. no seasoning whatsoever. Bath has lots of Thai places. Really, any of them is miles better than this one!

This is a small restaurant so you are squeezed in and it is not all posh decor like some of the restaurants in Bath so be prepared for this. However it does represent good value for money and service is very quick. The food is fresh-cooked and very tasty. When I visit Bath next I will visit it again

Thai Magma was recommended to me by a friend. Our recent nearby Thai takeaway had recently closed and so were have started using Thai Magma. I have been there four times for takeaway in the last month and the food has been delicious. I love spicy food have not been disappointed. I recommend the Chicken Panang and the Thai Green Curry which are spicy but also very tasty, not dominated by the spice at all. Good price plus you get 10% discount for paying in cash and free soft drinks if you spend over £25. Service is also excellent as is the portion size. Can't recommend enough!!

We visited here this evening and had a lovely meal. Prawn crackers to start with chicken satay...and red Thai beef curry and sizzling beef to follow. All beautifully cooked, very fresh and fragrant. Great service. We will definitely be back.

We are fans of Thai food, the spicier the better for our eldest son! After reading so many great reviews we thought we’d try it for Saturday night dinner. I’d already perused the menu online and was pleased there were so many vegetarian dishes - I’m the only veggie in a family of carnivores, and it’s not always easy to find somewhere with lots of veggie choices. The seating area was very clean - a bit basic and not terribly spacious, but we were the only people in that section, so it wasn’t a problem. The owner was really friendly and chatty, and happy to discuss any queries we had about the different dishes. There’s a really good choice with lots of different sauces and levels of heat! The food is amazing. Every dish looked and smelled delicious, really inviting. We each had a different main course, and shared two starters between the four of us. My family have very healthy appetites, and we were all full at the end, in fact I couldn’t finish my meal. We will definitely be back! I wouldn’t come for a special occasion meal as the surroundings are a bit more like eating in a cafe rather than a restaurant, but the food was absolutely delicious so for a casual family dinner this is perfect. Fast friendly service, fresh delicious food, great prices (£70 for our family of four including drinks) - what more could you want?

Traditional Thai food!!! Owner is so helpful when ordering and recommending dishes. If you like hot Thai (traditional) ask, you can also have a milder version. Fresh salads, great Thai curries! Foods just to good to wait for a photo 🤤

We used for a take-away and was not disappointed. The dishes are excellent restuarant standard, generous and full of flavour. Initial thought was take-away prices are high but you get this back in the quality of the food. The chili and garlic squid was enough to split between two(£6.95), was delicious and hot. We also tried the Sizzling chicken (10.95) and king prawn Phad Phrik Bai Krapao(£12.95). There was enough to split between 3. We like our food spicy and this did not disappoint. if you like it mild, might be worth asking when ordering. There is a layby just after the shop on the left to pull into, when collecting and they are open on Sundays.

Just had my third takeaway from Thai Magma and will definitely return. I had the squid, Som Tam, Duck Red Curry and asked for it to be more thai style (last two were less spicy and I guess more to western taste). Totally loving the hotter more authentic home cooked thai style! The portions are generous and the service friendly and fun. The lady proprietress is a fun personality! As an eating experience the restaurant is quite like a cafe (I guess more like what you would get in Thailand, Ive never been). But give it a go, if you like this food you wont be dissappointed!

We've eaten at the Thai Balcony on and off since 2010. It used to be great, especially for pre-theatre suppers. However, it has gone down hill over the last few years. It had problems with its hygiene rating, the dishes became expensive and poor quality. On the plus side, the staff are in the main, friendly and efficient. After an absence of at least a year we were hoping to see an improvement on our latest visit. Not so. One of the dishes we ordered never arrived although it appeared on the bill. The sizzling chicken dish did not sizzle and I doubt it was chicken. So, that's it from us. Never again.

Fabulous meal at Thai Basil, my friends first visit. The food was delicious and we so enjoyed their new red wine from Thailand (light and fruity). Staff amazing, thank you.
