If you want to introduce young people to the classic family cooking in Italy, this is the place. The clientele is a mix of regulars and visitors. As an additional benefit, you can bring home pasta (excellent choice of Barilla and La Molisana) at very competitive prices. I had the impression I was in the suburb of Rome in one of the small convenience shops. For the aficionados, you can finish with sfoliatelle napoletane.

There's a long and a short version. The short one is that this is a good Southern Italian pizzeria in Clerkenwell which is well worth passing by for takeaway or a quick bite in the evening. The longer one is that Clerkenwell was the original little Italy in London (hence the Italian Church next door) and then it all went pear-shaped (c. 1940 everyone Italian was interned, then put on a boat to the Isle of Man which then got sunk by a U-boat - look up "Arandora Star"). Anyway, Terronis was shut for years and all the action moved over to Gazzanos (Mr Gazzano II, RIP, was one of the legends of Clerkenwell and rightly so). Then after his sudden death Gazzanos went pear-shaped, despite his daughter. Then Terronis got taken up by this family from the South. Started off with bare minimum groceries but steadily expanding. The wine is far too expensive but apart from that it's a winner. One of the few genuine places in central london.

Superb espresso and very decent wine(£5 for a large glass). Lovely pleasant service.

I walk past Terroni every evening on my way to the station after work and have been meaning to try it, as pizza is my favourite food, but I usually have dinner waiting for me or am going out for dinner.Yesterday I had no plans, and pondering what to eat, when I walked past. So this time I stopped, asked how long a pizza would take (8 minutes) and decided to sit down, all on my own.Terroni was for a long time just a deli, but recently also became a restaurant. It has a few tables outside to enjoy the weather and about 25-30 seats inside. I sat down, quickly consulted the menu, and decided on a pepperoni pizza and a water. The pizza was served quickly, and was very tasty indeed. It is a good size, and filled me up sufficiently. The base was not too thin nor too thick. The tomato sauce was plentiful, and had a nice sweetness, and there was lots of cheese. Pizza without enough cheese just is not pizza for me. Best of all was the pepperoni. It was very good quality with just a hint of spice, and really enhanced the overall flavour. What was nice was the mixed clientele - other office workers, tourists, some Italians - and also people coming in and out to buy their Italian goods, as the deli remains open for business. The pizza maker himself was from Sorrento which added to the authenticity.I did not really look at the rest of the menu, but they do have pastas risottos etc, but for me, it is all about pizza, and given that I enjoyed it, and my bill was only £11, I certainly will return!

Located in the old Italian area of London, this café cum delicatessen had authentic feel about, having been established since the end of the 19th century. The shelves were filled and counter with Italian produce including fresh meat and dairy produce. The lunch and snack menu written on a blackboard was extensive with a bowl of pasta costing a reasonable £5.99p. There are also plenty of tempting Italian cakes and biscuits on offer and I enjoyed the best cappuccino for a long time. It was both refreshing and foamy and small cup costs a mere £2.00. The atmosphere was relaxing and I was served my friendly members of staff. It was reassuring that the store was popular with Italian people. Located next to St. Peter's Italian Church, bus numbers 55 and 243 pass by. For an authentic Italian café experience, look no further than this establishment. I've always chosen here rather than Pret for meetings, to support independent businesses over big corporate (despite quite liking Pret). But having returned after 2 weeks away, they no longer have free Wifi, the prices have gone up and the pasta I'm eating is a sludgy mess. I overhead the owner at Terroni Cafe, complaining that business is very difficult and that "Pret kills everybody".The thing is, as in life, in business we usually have to look at ourselves before blaming others - myself included...My advice would be to focus on the quality of your food (I could make better pasta dishes than many I've had here) and provide quality of service. Most people expect Wifi - it might seem like a saving, but I'll no longer come here as most of my meetings involve using a laptop.I'd also advise the owners (and everyone who works at Terroni) to go and use/try ALL the local cafes, a few times each, to find out what is working for them and why Terroni has less business. Sticking your head in the sand and blaming others won't solve the problem.

It's essentially a deli serving from a long list chalked up on a blackboard freshly cooked pastas for around the £6 mark or £9 with a pint of Peroni. I think I may have inadvertently ordered a little off piste tagiolini parcels containing spinach with a bolognese sauce on top. It had been freshly cooked in a large vat of boiling water and rather hit the mark. No complaints by my work colleague about his lasagna. Freshly made desserts looked tempting. Went to Terroni for am office lunch and I had good expectations, but unfortunately it wasn't the case.I had some ravioli with tomato sauce, they were just terrible, over cooked, bland and the sauce was too acid, probably the worst pasta dish I had in London. After lunch I thought i could save the day with a nice capuccino, again, big fail, thet taste was avareage and was boiling hot, that's not the way you prepare a cappuccino, for somethin glike that you can go to any Costa, at least is cheaper.Place is very crumped at lunch time,di fficult to move around. On the bright side the grocery shop has a good variety of Italian food.

Lovely Italian cafe in Clerkenwell, situated next to the Italian Catholic Church. Always busy, good quality food and drink and an excellent range of products in the deli. Worth a visit.

I bought a selection of meats, olives and cheeses. The truffle salami was exceptional and hard to find anywhere else. A nice spot to sit for lunch or coffee away from the crowds of leather lane and I always come away with something for home too.

one of the best Coffee's in a town, along with some beautifully authentic and traditionally fresh Italian food. It's a great place to pop by and pick up some cold meats, cheese and Wine if you are on your way to a dinner party or even to grab a quick bite to eat on your lunch.

I lived in Italy for many years and this is exactly like delis in Italy. It is mainly a food store with typical dried foods and deli items with a cafe attached. It is run by Italians and is situated in an area of Clerkenwell near the Italian church. If you are looking for typical Italian foods then this is a good place to come to and to have a coffee at the same time.

I went there with a colleague who was curious of the place. Being Italian, and over-critical about Italian food abroad, I knew I may have not liked the food but I came out more disappointed that I should have.My lasagna was too small to justify £5.99, and especially not that good. I had the strong feeling it was made out of the leftovers from the deli counter, some of the ingredients had nothing to do with lasagna (just for the record: ham and chicken are not ingredients for lasagna). My colleague got Bolognaise, which was too liquid and not enough rich to be authentic. We had to get some more food after that, as far as I am concerned it was a waste of money.

I've eaten at Terroni a number of times whilst working in the area and love the experience. Food is simple, yet tasty. Service is in-keeping with a family-run business: the staff seem to have a real passion for what they do. Is it the real deal...? The place is always packed on a Sunday lunchtime with Italian's... so I think, yes!Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a casual, fun place for lunch.

Great coffee, amazing range of foods and the best cannolis this side of Palermo. And guess what? at a reasonable price! unlike some other rip off, pretentious Italian establishments in London this place just serves up the goods, at a very democratic price!

This place seems part of the London Italian establishment and is next to the Italian catholic church. It is a mixture of cafe and delicatessen serving drinks and snacks. We had coffee, croissants and pizza which were all enjoyable, sitting outside, with the food brought to us by helpful staff. A good place for a break if you are walking along the Clerkenwell Road. It is also opposite Hatton garden for a spot of jewellery shopping.

I like this place. The food is simple and straightforward and without pretension, the waiters and waitresses equally so. I mainly come for coffee on the way into work in the morning. I rediscovered cappuccinos here after months of bitter Pret or Costa versions - here they are smooth and creamy and with a nice kick. I've tried a croissant a few times and they are delicious - fresh, buttery and crispy - and I've also had lunchtime pasta too which as I say is nothing you perhaps couldn't rustle up at home, but all the better for it. And then you might want to buy some delicious luganega sausages or some cheese or a bottle of wine to take home with you.
