Teppanyaki in Leeds

Came with the family, for dinner, ordered a lot. I would recommend.

This was my first visit to Teppanyaki Leeds, it was different to other restaurants I'd been to & I quite enjoyed the novelty value but not sure I'd rush back. I enjoyed the food & it was good to see it cooked in front of us from fresh ingredients, however the service generally wasn't great, the waiting staff prioritised customers having the set menu, meaning those of us who weren't were kept waiting quite a long time.

The food was amazing fresh and nice presentation.

Booked last Saturday evening for my son's seventh birthday. He attended with three of his friends. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves. He said it would be his go to restaurant for his birthday celebrations in the future.

As much a show as a meal out and it is brilliant. So entertaining, tasty and the service was some of the best we’ve had

Visited for a work event, on first impression we were a little bit concerned as the resturant is slightly dated and could do with modernising slightly. The food however was top notch! All courses were excellent, our chef was entertaining and got everyone involved. Service was a little slow with drink but all in all you can't fault the food and everyone enjoyed the evening !

One of a kind experience, the staff are welcoming, kind, considerate and some of the most talented people ive seen. The food is top teir quality and the amount they give you is more than filling.

This is a very different restaurant where the chefs who have a style of there own cook the food in front of you. It's a looovely place to eat and certainly somewhere I would return if ever in Leeds.

It was our first time visiting Teppanyaki in Leeds. We had so much fun! We loved the show, the chef was very skilled and the food was amazingly fresh and delicious. They also sell quality Japanese whisky. We waited a bit to be served, but the food was worth the wait.

Title: Extremely Disappointed with Lack of Refund and Communication I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Teppanyaki. I had paid a £40 deposit for an event that I was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. According to their website, they clearly state that if you are unable to attend, they will refund the deposit by selling your place to someone else. However, despite following the necessary steps and reaching out to them multiple times, I have not received any response or refund. What makes this situation even more frustrating is the fact that the event took place on a Saturday night, which is typically a high-demand time. I had hoped that my spot would easily be filled, allowing me to receive my deposit back as promised. However, the lack of communication and disregard for my emails has left me feeling ignored and disrespected. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and I accept responsibility for not being able to attend the event. However, I believe that it is the responsibility of the event organizer to uphold their own refund policy and provide clear and timely communication to their customers. I have made an attempt to contact them through email, but my messages have been completely ignored. This level of unprofessionalism is truly disheartening and reflects poorly on their reputation. I strongly urge anyone considering attending an teppankyaki to think twice before committing. Their lack of accountability and disregard for their customers' concerns is simply unacceptable. I hope that by sharing my experience, others can be spared from the disappointment and frustration that I have endured. In conclusion, I am extremely disappointed with teppenyaki for their failure to refund my deposit and their complete lack of communication. It is disheartening to see a company not uphold their own policies and ignore their customers' concerns. I would strongly advise others to reconsider attending events organized by this company.

We’ve enjoyed the food ! Staffs are friendly!

Booked for NYE and emailed ahead to check children could dine at 8pm. Arrived, ordered food, seated at table after 45 mins of waiting to be told no kids after 6pm and if we wanted to stay he had to eat off the adults menu...despite being given a kids menu to order off and the order being taken!!! I explained that i had emailed prior to booking and was told i hadnt, had to login to wifi and prove the error all whilst waiting for food and being surrounded by other diners. The customer service was appalling and we left without dining. The restaurant lost around £300 for the sake of 1 kids meal.... nothing in T&Cs either. Spoilt our NYE and we had paid £40 in taxis too!

New years eve booking, late to be seated, over priced food, poor quality. Saw a family turned away for having a child with them despite pre booking. Not worth the money or visit.... won't bother returning.

Visited Teppanyaki with my family for the first time. What a fantastic experience and the food was excellent. Service was superb. The whole experience was enjoyed by everyone. Will definitely be visiting again.

The chefs were great, food was fresh my only complaint is every meat and fish dish was somewhat tasteless simply because everything is cooked în butter and soy sauce it would have been nicer if we had a selection of sauces that we could dip our beef, chicken , lobster and prawns în.

First visit to this Leeds institution, the food is very good but the whole point is the theatre and the fun. Amazing.

Teppanyaki is located in the cellar of the building, and has a steep, high stairway down from street level, and then more steps once inside the restaurant. As someone of limited mobility, I found these steps challenging. As far as I'm aware there is no wheelchair access. However, once you're down there the experience and the delicious food is well worth the effort!

Ordered through Uber eats 22/10. Slight hiccup with the order but food was delicious as always and problem was easily rectified talking with staff.

Had the spicy lamb for lunch. Would recommend.

We were a table of 4. We ordered the most expensive set, the Royale which had king prawns, lobster, beef fillet, chicken and salmon. Was extremely disappointment with the portions side. We each only had 2 prawns. TWO. And a small baby sized salmon fillet. Chef was very entertaining. The head waitress/manager was very demanding. Kept pushing for us to place an order while we were sitting although we mentioned to her that we were waiting for one more guest. I asked if she could wait and she said if we want a table, we need to order right that second. Mind you, it was only 6:30pm and there were only 2 other guest in the restaurant the WHOLE NIGHT. No need to push us to order at that very second, it’s not like we would just leave. We ordered a few alcoholic drinks and when one of our guests ordered a ginger ale, she laughed and must have assumed it was cheap. Extremely unprofessional.

Had a lovely evening celebrating my Daughter’s 18th! Food was Amazing, fresh & tasty. Staff really friendly, helpful & service was spot on. Highly Recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. Thank you

Chef Randolp was really amazing and very friendly. He knew how to entertain people while doing his passion of cooking. Waitresses are very accommodating too. All in all me and wife had a great dinner date for our wedding anniversary. Thank you again kuya Randolph!

We were here for a belated birthday celebration, not that that is of any real importance to the venue but you have to start somewhere, anyway back to the gaff. The theater of the restaurant was entertaining enough and at times the guy preparing the food was quite funny and was clearly out to give us a memorable evening which was great the down side though to this was the fact that though he had a flair for entertaining he had only a modicum of skill for cooking. The steak was cooked perfectly which is no mean feat and the tiger prawns and scallops satisfactory and if that was where the food ended then then my rating would have been 4/5, unfortunately the accompanying rice and stir fry was almost inedible due to the copious amounts of soy sauce the cusp had drowned the food in, it was as though he had been taught/told if in doubt splash it again and again and again. Was it worth the money? I'm afraid not, well not with the calibre of "chef" we had, if the person cooking was to improve and possibly the other cooks are more skilled then it would be well worth it with anything you hadn't eaten packed up in a take out box for later but at the moment it's school report time and "COULD DO BETTER" 2/3 stars.

The great experience and showmanship was massively marred by the high temperature. There was 1 ac unit and it was set at 26 degrees. The temperature outside was 28 degrees, but it felt the same as the inside temp, where there are 4 large hotplates pumping out heat. When you are paying £80 a head you expect some creature comforts. The restaurant need to invest in proper climate control, or be empty throughout the summer. I have been lots of times before obviously during winter I now realise, and it is a great night out.

Absolutely fantastic! We were well looked after and the food was amazing. We visited on a quiet evening so there wasn't much atmosphere but it didn't take away from our experience. We will definitely visit again and recommend to all our friends.

An amazing experience, the hosts and waiters could not make you feel more welcome and relaxed and they were absolutely lovely. Very sweet and down to earth. The cocktails and drinks were amazing, the japanese themed drinks were some of the best I've ever had and very more-ish. The sake bomb definitely a nice little gimmick and a bit of fun so definitely try it. And we havent even got to the food! The starters just on their own was worth a 5*, very fresh, tasty, filling, and generous portions, they're great to get a selection of if you don't want a set menu. They can accomodate for anything you want. The actual show and main course was so worth it. We went and it was only us and another couple on a quiet Wednesday but that didn't change anything about the service, show, or food. All was cooked to perfection and there were fun interactive parts to it. This is excellent for a couple, family, work do etc. Definitely better the more people who are there and one of the highlights of our Leeds trip. We splashed out and would do it again. Thank you for such a lovely night.

Brilliant experience and food cooked fresh right in front of you. Service is excellent and the whole dining experience is fun. Only issue would be that the staircase to get to the restaurant is narrow and a little steep for anyone with mobility problems.

This is the 3rd time i have been here. A couple of time with a group but this time with my husband just the 2 of us. Thought it may been a little akward situing with strangers but it wasnt and the atmosphere was still great. Food and service on point as always. My only disappointment mainly because it was the first time my husband had been was that our chef didn't do as much activity and i interaction as the other chefs that night or previously that i had experienced. All in all great though and still highly recommend and will be back again some time.

Oh my word! This restaurant must be tried!! The welcome is warm and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed along with family friendly fun. The food, which delivers incredible flavours, is freshly cooked right in front of you. Don't be put off by the prices - it's worth every penny!!!

We had an amazing night at Teppanyaki Leeds. Prior to visiting I was expecting some cheesy cooking entertainment serving mediocre food. However, I couldn't have been further wrong! Our chef was amazingly skilled and produced absolutely top-notch food. The quality was amazing. All the staff were exceptionally pleasant and attentive to our requirements. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Excellent value for money.

Teppanyaki was amazing, me and the Mrs loved it. Food was brilliant (Halal), entertainment was brilliant and the staff were super lovely and brilliant. If you're looking for a fun time while you dine, Teppanyaki is the place to be. 😊

It was an ok experience, way over priced for what we had, the lobster tail was gritty which shows me it wasn’t prepared correctly. I really wanted to love it but was sadly disappointed

Wracking my brains for somewhere to take my partner for a birthday meal. I remembered visiting Tapenyaki Manchester as a child with my parents and being wowed by the displays of dragons breath dancing across sizzling prawns and steaks hissing their way across a scalding hotplate. To my suprise we didn't have to go that far! Tapenyaki Leeds is hidden away next to the Victoria quarter area. Descending a flight of stairs we walked into a well maintained but possibly a little dated subterranean room. Despite the very low occupancy we were asked to take a seat in the bar area. Drinks were served, some of the signature cocktails are truly delicious and quite beautiful. Eventually we took a seat around the grill with a group of strangers. Nine of us in total ordered our selection from various set menus and with that, the show began. Our chef played the part of the grumpy Japanese chef to a tea. His act given lie by the expertise in which he sent eggs flying and raised an inferno from a pile of diced onion. Truly, this is dinner theatre at it's best. In an age when tiktok can compress a recipe into a thirty second clip. Talent is only made scarce by the praise it deserves. But these are truly the practiced hands of a master. The food was beautiful. Those nine strangers became friends and the chef gave a modest bow. A fantastic evening. Which surprised me greatly. The food was very high quality. The price, maybe a little high. But then you're paying for the experience. Which has transitioned from modern in the 1990s to retro and sleek in the 2020s. You should visit this place for a lively time. Go with friends. Be sure to book and enjoy the experience for yourselves. We will most assuredly be back. Went midweek so was a little quiet. Staff were brilliant, service was great and our chef and food were fantastic. Its not cheap but we'll worth it in my opinion. Will certainly visit again soon.

Really lovely food, served with a hint of theatre with the chef cooking it all in front of us and getting us involved. There was 8 of us on a retirement meal from work. It wasn't a cheap bill but it was definitely a special evening for a special event

Wow, wow, wow! This place was fantastic. The cocktail menu was extremely impressive, especially their Japanese variety. It was lovely to sit down with a cocktail before dining, and the staff are lovely. We were sat down with another small group to eat, and the food was just fantastic. They accommodated my pescatarian diet with no drama, and the chef was extremely interactive and made it a wonderful dining experience. You are given a cool button so if you want drinks at any time, you can order these easily. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody! The menu was vast, from simple good quality meats, to full on fish.

I recently visited a teppanyaki restaurant and unfortunately, I did not have the best experience. Firstly, the lady who greeted us and asked us to sit down seemed to have an odd demeanor. She came across as being a bit rude and direct in her approach. Secondly, I found the prices to be quite expensive, despite the fact that the food was good. To make matters worse, we were asked to decide on our food in advance and then escorted to our table. On top of that, the restaurant charged an extra 10% for service, which only added to the already high cost. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at this teppanyaki restaurant.

The service was extremely courteous and friendly. The food was really nice too. I have had more preferable Japanese dishes but cannot fault anything about the entertaining preperlperations quality and taste.

Worth the once in a lifetime experience but the food is not worth the money you pay..you pay for the experience.. i won't come again..but please try it out..its an amazing experience.

Tepankyaki has been my favorite restaurant for years, I have spent every single birthday here for the last 6 birthdays. This will be my last one unfortunately. They have changed to set menus which they didn't inform us of on booking & meant I didn't get any of my favorite dishes which was the reason I booked & was looking forward to. The set menus are good but not worth the money, the quality of the food is definitely good but the amount you get is small. The starters were tiny & the desert was just an apple sours... With what worked out at £70 a head (including drinks) you'd think you could provide a better dessert. I think for the price they charge you should be able to pick what you want to eat. The restaurant is now very dated and messy & the welcome is not what it used to be. I can't say it was bad it's more that for the price they are charging you need to up your game, when there are competitors like Tattu where you get a lot more for a similar price in a beautiful restaurant. The chef entertainment was good as always but even that seems to have been cut down so they can get you in and out as soon as possible. Not what it once was which is a real shame :(

Been dying to try this place and got the opportunity when my friend threw a going away party there. £30 for the set menu, food and drink! Very good value for money! The restaurant is beautiful, really fun watching chef cooking! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food on the whole was good, just some dishes lacked flavour. Will definitely try this place again.

This review is just 100% honest, no need to lie, Only reason why I put 4 stars is because anything below 3 stars won’t be posted, you can now pay to remove low ratings, many business do it, cost about £60 per month, they will leave the occasionally one slide through but rarely, how I know my business was offered the same thing…Booked in at 9:15pm and got sat down at 9:45, the chef came to cook at 11:00…. The deposit you pay to book is so you don’t leave if they take the mick which they do and you can’t leave as they hold your deposit and will refuse to refund it even though they were over 1 hour late, your choices are lose your deposit or keep waiting. They have 1 chef running 2 teppanyaki. I respect the Japanese culture but here it’s all money grabbing, after waiting over an hour to eat they even had the nerve to attempt to add service charge…. What service ? Instead of apologising or updating us and other people in the same situation they choose to ignore you and try to make as little eye contact as possible very bad service, we know it and they know it. Quality has died down since this place opened, even their their price shot up, imagine paying for frozen food to be defrosted and cooked for you specially the lobster it’s frozen yet they still charge a ridiculous amount for it. By the way if you get the corner seat good luck as you will have to literally share a corner with whoever is there, packed like sardines. You can get much better quality Japanese food in Leeds for much cheaper and actual real service. I would recommend little Tokyo if you’re after authentic Japanese food quality and service. To sum it up they are money grabbers only. Quality and service don’t matter and they take a deposit without returning it even if they at fault, even if you want to leave and not even eat anymore they don’t care as they hold your money hostage 😭😭😭. Only thing it’s design for is taking pictures for your social media. Good luck to the rest of you and you will be ripped off. This is just pure honesty.

Food is great. The chefs are great. The main hostess is a little frosty/curt, hurried but accommodating. Was concerned with the use of rubber gloves to wash up dishes at the bar, and then cross-contamination (latex allergies) with the glasses used to serve drinks. I had to wipe my glass before use with alcohol gel. Very social atmosphere. Such a lovely experience, a change from the norm. Really tasty food.

Initially there was a very luke warm welcome, bordering on rude. The menu is now limited to the set menu which has gone up in price considerably. - Starters were nice enough, soup is very salty. - Mains were average at best - Dessert was very disappointing. - Quality overall is only slightly better than the tepenyaki stations you find at buffets but for over twice the price. - Atmosphere was ok, the chef was a nice chap, the waiting staff were miserable as sin, one lady in particular was borderline rude. The restaurant itself desperately needs a refresh. Overall quite disappointing. If over £50 per person is your budget. There are so many better places you can go in leeds that trumps this place in every way. The fact this place wasn't on a Friday night says it all.

First Teppanyaki experience and I absolutely loved it. Our whole family loved it so much. Food was very yummy, entertain was brill, cocktails were delicious and staff were great. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back! Some have said need to find parking but you can park at Templar Street car park which is a very short walk away.

Since pandemic only serving set menus which is not ideal, can't order some of my favourite sushi's/

Visited Teppanyaki Leeds to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and we were not disappointed! The service was fantastic with everyone being very friendly and welcoming, especially the chef who made the experience even more memorable! The food was delicious and cooked perfectly; easily one of the best meals we have eaten, and the portion sizes were very generous. Thoroughly recommended and we will be back if we visit Leeds again.

This was a brilliant night out. Me and my husband went to celebrate our wedding anniversary last night and this didn't disappoint! The lady who greeted us was lovely all night, really funny and a very dry sense of humour! The food was absolutely delicious and the the cook himself was endlessly entertaining! If we lived in Leeds we would go more often, couldn't recommend this place any more highly.

Absolutely disgusting service, we had a £20 deposit to use we couldn’t make the first booking due to a family emergency so they honnoered our deposit for next time we booked , we rebooked in when stating of the phone I still have a £20 to use from last time they said this was completely fine. we have gone and had our food when it’s come to paying the bill they hadn’t taken the £20 deposit off the bill which me and my partner questioned, they accused us of already coming and using the £20 deposit when this wasn’t the case as it was the first time ever going to this restaurant,there they accused us of been liars and one of the staff member accused my partner of been seen there before when it was the first time for us dining at this restaurant we booked here as we knew we was getting £20 off the bill as we was struggling for money. We told them we could not pay the extra £20 as we simply didn’t have the money for it then the women made us feel so belittled we felt the need to show her out bank account to prove we hadn’t the extra money even through the deposit was already payed absolutely disgusting they made us feel this way when I had saved up to treat my boyfriend to a birthday meal will NEVER be coming back to this restaurant

Aww what a superb and amazing place. We fancied something a little different for our date night. The food is to die for, the chefs are amazing and engage with you during putting on a show whilst cooking your food. The service staff are just lovely. Will be back.

My husband booked this for my birthday by phoning the restaurant to make the reservation. We duly arrived just before 8pm to be told we’d not confirmed so they assumed we’d not be coming and they didn’t have room for us! I’m not sure how they expected us to as they we didn’t receive a text or email. Would not return.

Visited 01062022 with a friend who actually works there too. Awesome vibe, great staff delicious food and drink. Definitely worth a visit. Thank you so much!
