Perfect place for a lunch time bite to eat. Staff were very nice and it was without doubt the best steak and peppercorn sauce I have had in ages. The portions are huge! Highly recommended!

The atmosphere and service staff were excellent but the whole experience was let down by the poor skills of the chefs. The ingredients they use are top notch but they do not have the skills, or choose not to, deliver dishes deserving of them. Sauces are bland and at times lazy with little depth of flavour. There is little consistency in the dishes going to the table such as one lamb rack at 40 quid a pop looking and tasting like it had been boiled for hours to another looking like it was cooked just right. I suspect it was reheated from a rack prepared the previous day as it reached the table very quickly. Scallops were cold in the middle but a decent portion for the price and tasted good. Happy to pay much more for food if it deserves the price tag but in this case it was very disappointing food for the price. It could be easily corrected if management just admited their chefs lack consistency (see all previous reviews saying similar things). But positives are, an amazing atmosphere and attentive service staff. Can't give a higher score due to food and value for money.

4 of us had the one of the best NYE at Tenby House, £85 each and we were sceptical about the free bar from 20:00-02:00 and buffet food but it was fantastic, bar was well staffed so no long queues and any drink you wanted was included in the price (they had run out of Baileys though) Hot buffet up until 22:30 was delicious and really well organised then a cold buffet was laid out after the hot buffet, again lots of choice and delicious. I can't state enough how lovely ALL the staff were, how well organised it was and yes it was busy but not overly packed. Wasn't a fan of queuing outside to make sure we got a table as not everyone with a ticket could be seated, we were lucky..not sure standing for 6hrs would have been as enjoyable. Maybe in future they could sell tickets for tables and seats to first come first served then standing only tickets at a slightly cheaper price..just an idea. I would definitely recommend and will certainly be back. Thank you Tenby House!

Had a lovely meal last night at this beautiful place, we had a late evening meal at around 6.30 pm. We had 3 young kids with us as well and the reception we received when arriving was lovely. The food was exceptional and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The ladies serving were so accommodating and polite. Only disappointing thing was we only had a little bit of cash to leave a tip as they don’t take tips on card which is understandable. Thank you for a lovely evening in the most amazing setting. Plantagenet Tenby. A very classy quirky restaurant. A warm welcome by staff and glowing fire! Felt like you were entering a cosy home. Excellent service, with a lot of attention to detail throughout to make it a memorable evening. Chefs showcased the very best food. Garlic bread was the best I’ve tasted and the sea bass & cannon lamb were simply stunning. Both meals were gorgeous and plenty to eat! Together with a chilled bottle of white white, it was awesome. We finished our drinks in the bar below after exploring this amazing historical building. Staff more than happy for people to see the building’s historical features. The restaurant has a reputation which the owners and team are all clearly eager to maintain. If you have the opportunity to go and eat there, do not hesitate !Thank-you team! We popped in for a light lunch on a visit to Tenby. I'm afraid it promises much but delivers little. The decor is quirky and the building atmospheric, situated on a pretty side street, next to a National Trust Tudor Merchant's house, near the harbour. Food, however, was adequate but overpriced. The crab on my crab sandwich was almost pureéd (no luscious chunks of white meat) and my husband's parsnip soup (£10.95!) came without bread; we had to ask twice and he'd eaten most of the soup by the time it came. Service was apathetic, bordering on supercilious at times. Three lads more interested in chatting behind a curtain than attending to customers; indeed, a couple of prospective customers left when nobody greeted them. A shame because we are usually generous tippers. Wouldn't eat there again.

I walked down to the Tenby House pub where a large board outside the bar detailed that the Rugby World Cup Game between England and Japan would be on tv. I walked in, bought an expensive pint of flat as a fart beer and sat waiting for the match. As the national anthems played, Buster Blood Vessel was belting out Lip Up Fatty on the loudspeakers so I went to the bar and asked if they were putting the commentary on for the game. The barmaid replied, “No, I don’t think we are”. I have to admit to being more than a little miffed, I mean why say they are going to show the game, and for me that means no loud pop music, it means an atmosphere created by the commentators no matter who is playing or how many people are watching, if you invite people then you should do the decent thing. I am here for a week but I won’t be going back in that pub ever again, its just so rude to invite people and then treat them like dirt!

Fantastic pub, very traditional - couldn't believe how busy the restaurant was, I think every table was used. I did notice someone with a fish and chips and the fish looked a bit small, I thought to my self, I hope he ordered an OAP, small or child's portion. Happy hour was my best part, I had gotten there by luck just past 16:00, and then chose the small table on the right. After a short while all the locals seemed to pop in and the banter was great. I felt extremely welcome and I will pop in each year as I traditionally have a welsh holiday each year. I was the annoying person playing pool on my iPad if the management remembers me, see you again next year. And I think you owe me a shot of whiskey :)

Lovely bones - spoiled by incongruous "hippy dippy" decor. Apart from our waiter (European chap, smartly dressed, very attentive and efficient), the staff appeared to have rolled in off the beach & were indifferent to the comfort of the customers. Noisy aussie banter from downstairs (staff? friends of staff?) didn't improve the ambience. The food was over-priced - my Monkfish was nice, but the rice wasn't cooked & it was clumpy, the sauce was meh. The wifes lamb was OK. I left my rice & sauce, mentioned my issue to the waiter & was offered our bottle of wine free as a gesture of goodwill. Tenby has more diners than restaurant covers available - perhaps this contributes to the general apathy towards diners in the town? Anyway, this place needs a good clean and decor sympathetic to the buiding - and the staff (apart from our waiter) need a bit of a shake.

I have always enjoyed visiting the Plantagenet House restaurant, normally as a special treat for birthdays and anniversaries, unfortunately on this occasion I had a poor experience, firstly on arrival our party of four where shown to our table which was pushed in tight to the seating area so we were unable to sit on one side of the table, I asked a member of staff if they could help me move the extremely heavy table but was ignored, after our party stood by the table for a few minutes I asked if we could be seated at a different table, we were then begrudgingly moved to a table next to where the waiting staff congregate near the entrance door under a loud speaker which had loud music playing above my head for the whole time, not a great table seeing as there where only by a handful of customers dining in the restaurant and many other vacant tables available, due to the reluctance of the staff not wanting to move us from the first table I dearnt have asked to be moved again. I chose the filet steak, as my main meal I have ordered this many times here and have always enjoyed it, unfortunately this time the meal was stone cold, the garlic butter wouldn’t even melt on the steak. I asked the waitress if my meal could be warmed up as I didn’t want a replacement meal as this would have spoiled the evening, not being able to eat with my party. After about 10mins the plate returned but unfortunately the meal was still lukewarm, I decided not to complain again as my party where already half way through eating their meals and I didn’t want to spoil the evening for everybody else. I hope this was just a one off as I have enjoyed dining in this restaurant many times in the past without issue and have recommend it to many friends colleagues and family.

EDIT: My reply to Plantagenets reply You’ve had many bad reviews the past week and somehow it’s everyone else to blame. You told me I should have complained. How about you make nice food in the first place and I wouldn’t need to complain. Take some responsibility. I didn’t trust your chef to improve my meal if I complained because it was so poor. Original review I eat better in Wetherspoons. No joke: The food was absolutely disgusting. My Hake Steak was dry and tasteless and the sauce was utterly forgettable. My wife’s beef steak was ok but the chips were no better than frozen ones in an average pub. Service was ok but we were never asked if our food was nice even at the end.

The building is beautiful and staff were nice however unfortunately this is where the compliments stop. We had chicken supreme with crushed new potatoes and seasonal veg and fish pie with seasonal veg (both meals costing over £20 each). The price tag on the food did not match what we were given. The fish pie was particularly bad, it was severed with near to no fish content and seemed as if it was premade and frozen for sometime, this was shown by the peas within it lacking general colour. The seasonal veg consisted of 1 floret of undercooked broccoli and half a baby pak choi. This was a fairly similar experience for the chicken supreme however this dish was a fair bit better in freshness. The cost for the food certainly does not match the amount and quality given. This business seems as if they are making cost cutting measures unfortunately in the wrong places. I dine out a lot for work, 3-4 times a week and this has been one of the worst places I've eaten in months, very disappointing.

We sat in the back room with a fire place and some cozy couches. The house white wine was delicious, they also have a kids menu with several things on it which was great for us. We ordered two fish and chips, the kids portion was great the adult portion at £17 seems overpriced in my opinion. The tartar sauce was good but I think we ordered at the tail end of lunch because the chips were not fresh and fish was soggy in the middle, such a bummer for a place with great reviews. The service was good for us though and the wine was tasty. I would consider giving it another try if the meals were a little less expensive. Overall not a bad experience, just not great.

Just three scallops for £17 was extremely disappointing and also I was told there was no fish pie, and someone had just ordered the last one. The young waitress was a little tactless with how she explained this. So had to pay an extra £6 for the lamb, and yet the man on the next table got his steak free all because his wife got her meal ten minutes earlier. But we weren't offered any discount whatsoever. We paid £84, and if I am ever in Tenby again, I will not be returning here ever again!! Unimpressed to say the very least. *Edit in response to your reply. The man on the next table DID get a free meal, heard the waitress say it was on the house. I was aware of the prices, but portions very small, especially the starter. And the waitress said 'Oh just sold the last fish pie to someone else instead of apologising and just saying there was none left. Not my fault you didn't have enough supplies and lamb was only other dish I'd have stayed on a limited menu. I stayed and didn't complain at the time of visiting for my Mum's benefit only.

Such an amazing place to visit. Full of history along with company but the best of all are the food! A dog friendly medieval Inn, food were absolutely smack on that are locally sourced straight from the sea and local area. Mussels cooked in white wine with a hint of rosemary were just to die for and absolutely delicious along with the fish and chips. Stop by for some afternoon tea or dinner and you won’t be disappointed! The decorations and vibe are stunning makes you feel like you were tracing back through time when sitting there. Only thing that is alittle let down are we are siting down stair and it was alittle dark and not alot of light but that can be over looked. If you fine this review useful please give a thumbs up, will greatly appreciated and keep the review going ❤️

After reading the reviews we had high expectations for Plantagenet , however overall we were very disappointed. The sea bass and risotto , portion size of risotto was far too big and overcooked . My partner was going to order the fish pie but went she saw the size of it she opted for the Hake . Once again it was over cooked and dry . The staff were very good and apologised for our disappointment and removed the Sea Bass from he bill . I think the restaurant is trading on it previously reputation and needs to up its game if it’s going to keep customers coming back .

Cosy pub underneath for pre-dinner drinks 🍺 Book a table in the restaurant beforehand to avoid disappointment. Unique flemish chimney and wooden topped porcelain loo. Our party of four had fish and chips, rack of lamb, Hake steak and fillet. Two of the party were allergic to garlic. The restaurant went out of their way to adjust and accommodate the allergy. Hake steak bisque was divine. Hand cut chips were scrumptious. Mint pea jus and gravy with veggies were amazing with the lamb rack. Attention to detail and insistence on excellence in their service levels highly appreciated. Would definitely go back and recommend to others!

The hotel is situated on a side street in tenby there is a courtyard at the side and because of it being a sunny day we sat there. The drinks were good, staff were friendly. Pleasant inside, worth a visit

We popped in on a Friday evening without a booking and the restaurant dining area was full so we were told that we could wait for a table to open up in their basement bar which was full of character! Super cozy place with a fireplace! So not even 20 minutes later we were summoned as a table had just freed up and we were escorted to it. The service that the staff provided was excellent! Very friendly and attentive and the food was very delicious! Definitely recommend!

Very lovely experience. Brilliant food, well priced wines (food is top end of prices I'd pay but I'd say worth it). Really good atmosphere in general. Waiter was a bit shaky on the details of dietary requirements, but if we had needed too lI'm sure we could have got someone else to be clear. The cheeseboard is massive by the way, maybe share...

Food here is yummy, and nice vegan options! The space is so lovely and cosy, and faithful to its Tudor origins. The cafe downstairs is also very nice for an afternoon rest stop and coffee! I would book a space for either of these in advance, as they are popular with locals and tourists.

Very disappointed. Despite the quirkiness of the pub, my meal was not as expected for the price, which was more expensive than others' choices of sausage and mash. I chose pate which consisted of two small pieces of toast, not even the size of a standard slice of bread. It actually resembled a starter not a main course with only a few green leaves as a garnish. Very underwhelmed, sorry!
