Ten Green Bottles in Brighton and Hove

The wine list is good and if they can be bothered to tell you about it ..that might help. Go here if you want to understand how bad things have got in some places in Brighton. I would love to say something good. Beware of this place.

We remembered coming here a few years ago and were delighted to find it still here, serving a superb selection of wine with lovely cheeses and meats to accompany it. It’s a great place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of Brighton for a lovely cold drink in a small, comfortable bar. Great service and a wonderful afternoon.

Gorgeous burrata and Serrano ham with almonds washed down with great rosé to celebrate the end of the week- nice spot!

Great little spot for Wine and a Cheese & Charcuterie board, right in the middle of the North Laine, so great for stopping and relaxing for an hour in the afternoon. Rather expensive, but its lovely to have the option of drinking wine in store then buying a bottle or two for taking home, and one expects to pay for this privilege.

Food and wine itself was great and mostly friendly servers. Would definitely recommend getting a charcuterie board to accompany if you're in a big group as it's fairly reasonable. Only let down, however, by the sharp service on the phone when I initially booked and the apparent confusion my friend was met with when asking for a recommendation. I feel this is a fairly standard question to ask anywhere but was met with a blank face and received no advice...added a weird tone to an otherwise pleasant evening.

Very enjoyable wine tasting experience in a lovely setting.

A relaxed wine bar with a good selection of rotating wine by the glass and large collection of bottles. Nibbles like olive, cheese and charcuterie are available. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of their wines. It's a decent place for a quick drink! The only downside is the seats aren't very comfortable

Reasonable food at a reasonable price, nice interior and staff were all polite, served by Monika, she was very helpful and friendly.

We were looking for natural wines but they didn't have at that moment. We tried a glass of wine and some cheese. Everything was okey but I would say that there are better spots in Brighton to drink wine.

Buzzing town-centre wine bar; good quality wine and food. They do beer, cider and gin too, if wine isn't your thing.

Turned away on entry by the manager, who refused to believe we were above 18 despite all of us having valid ID. He was also rude and generally condescending.

Did some wine and cheese tasting and left feeling more classy, more intellectual and a little tipsy. The wine and cheese tasting got us tasting 6 different cheeses, and 6 different wines. Each wine complimented a particulate cheese. The man who talk us through the food and drink was soo informative it was mind bending. When I went in, all I knew was red and white, wine, but now I know about the how different tastes effect each other, how to judge a wine but price, country, temperature, year, and process. And the same with the cheeses. Great experience for not only novice foodies, like me, but for people who love their cheese and wine like my partner. Thank you to the man who educated us.

We had a sparkling wine tasting session and it was great. Christian was very knowledgeable and personable and we learnt a lot while we were there.

The proprietor is very enthusiastic about what I thought were overpriced and unremarkable wines.

Wine - great, food - great. Service was a big let-down, we chose a bottle of Monte da ravasqueira and the house cheese selection. Staff did not check allergies prior to serving the unspecified house selection, I had pre-empted the selection based on the description but a different selection arrived. Staff served wine without allowing time for us to taste/check corkage/oxidisation and then only re-emerged to check if we were finished with the cheeseboard. No wine or food check-in. We relayed our disappointment to the staff upon payment, we unfortunately had to to remove the service charge on this occasion. Staff member stated that service charge is always optional, apologized, and hoped that we would visit again. This is unlikely as we had made a conscious decision to visit this wine bar on our trip from London.

Attended today's tasting class and really enjoyed the experience. A wide, delicious range of UK/European wines, paired with an engaging and informed lesson, made for a lovely spring afternoon!

Wanting a drink after work I went here for the first time; I'm glad I did. Very relaxed atmosphere, especially for someone who knows next to nothing about wine! The staff were very friendly and efficient, and I enjoyed my time here. There's so much to look at and a vast array of choices. I'll be back!

Easy to find on jubilee Street. Received excellent service, and great recommendations on the various types of red and white wine. Ambience was fantastic. Price is reasonable. Special thanks to James for his hospitality, definitely come again.

We had such a good night, not only was the wine great (we asked for vegan and met with a 'no problem' response), James was great company and so knowledgeable. Highly recommended and don't be afraid to ask questions - there was absolutely no wine snobbery, all very down to earth. We found out loads not just about the wine, but about manufacturing practices and local suppliers to support small businesses.

Our triathlon club decided to organise a virtual wine tasting, and it was so much fun. Johan was wonderful - kept it really lighthearted and personal while simultaneously wowing us with his insane knowledge on wine/whisky/beer (and pretty much everything else). Organisation was super easy beforehand, with all samples arriving to our houses 2 days before. Thanks so much TGB, we all had such a fun evening and will definitely be popping in when we are next able to do a London-Brighton ride!

We had a lovely wine tasting with James which pushed us out of our comfort zone and let us try wines we would never have been aware of. James was very knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for wine. We really enjoyed the experience and it definitely lifted the mood.

Great wine coupled with outstanding service Had the pleasure of wine tasting here a couple of times and and at the end of one tasting decided to sign up to their monthly wine subscription. Have been delighted every month since! The selection we receive is always varied with some real ‘surprise and delights’ and every bottle has been superb quality. This is local business who offer a great ‘personal touch’. The team are knowledgable and passionate and Simon is a delight to deal with. Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed finding this wine bar. Special wines were divine as were the cheese plates. Very friendly and really informative staff and it has a great atmosphere. Seemed to be a lot of hen parties in when we were there so it was quite loud but it is a fun place. Looking forward to our return visit

A fabulous hidden gem! We did a couples cheese and wine tasting and it was top notch! Alyishia was extremely knowledgable and made it so very interesting. The cheese choices were perfect too! I’d absolutely highly recommend this for anyone visiting Brighton and I hope to do it again!

Mi pareja y yo teníamos un cupón para gastar aquí para una experiencia de cata de vinos. Fuimos con la opción de degustación de queso y vino que cuesta un poco más pero valió la pena. Pasamos el tiempo con Gemma y ella fue muy amable y nos habló sobre cada uno de los vinos y cómo coincidían con los quesos elegidos. Se sentía como si hubiera elegido los vinos ella misma, que se sentía más personal y que era muy conocedora del vino sin ser pretenciosa. Parecía que estuviéramos charlando con un amigo que sabía mucho sobre vino. Gracias por una experiencia encantadora, Gemma.

James was fantastic! Lovely atmosphere. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday for wine tasting and we were not dissapointed. It was evident that our host was passionate about wines as well as knowledgeable, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Definitely recommend!!

Slightly disappointed on 2nd visit. 1st night (Friday) strolled across this lovely wine bar, went in, sat down, ordered a nice bottle, enjoyed the atmosphere and wine, even left a tip on top of the £35 bottle. 2nd night (Saturday) went in and within 1 minute told that the wasn’t space for us to be in here come back in 15 minutes. We entered with our own eyes knowing that it was busy and was willing to wait for a table or even just to stand. But for bar staff to say this to paying customers who the night before had also left a tip.... well you can now understand the review. Come on guys, don’t make up the minds of your customers yourselves, leave that to us.

Daniel, nuestro anfitrión, fue humilde y conocedor. 6 vinos / quesos acompañantes ambiente fabuloso, realmente alegre. Aconsejar reserva. Ya he reservado la próxima cata de vinos de masterclass para mi pareja y para mí. Una gran experiencia memorable. Por cierto, este es un bar de vinos con excelente queso / embutidos y no un restaurante.

Staff gentilissimo, cortese e meticolosamente preparato. Locale accogliente e ben arredato. Abbiamo fatto una degustazione di 6 vini e formaggi e ne siamo stati veramente soddisfatti. Torneremo!

This wine bar was recommended to me. Visiting Brighton with four girlfriends for the weekend. We had wandered around the Lanes and fancied a nice glass of wine. It took some finding and we walked past it once as the signage on the shop front is very poor but it was worth the trouble. Lovely relaxed atmosphere...we sat on a long communal refectory table. The wine by the glass menu was good, the waiter was knowledgable. I had a most delicious Rose! There were tasty nibbles of breads and oils, cheese, Serrano ham, nuts etc to order on the side. Just lovely! It set us up for the rest of the afternoon!!

Loads of enthusiasm from the staff and wide choice of wines at all prices. The cheese and ham perfect accompaniments. One point to owner. Never bring uncorked bottle to the table. Always open at the table. You are an honest business but other wine bars may not be ! Do note this.

Went here as always wanted to go for cheese and wine and it exceeded all expectations!! Excellent choice of cheeses other foods and delicious bread! Really good value for money and comfortable and lovely seating and surroundings!!!! Definitely recommend

Ideal place to taste great wine and fresh cheese. I had a cheese selection on Wriggle and sampled six fantastic cheese. The choice is superb and with wine was a great way to combine. The menu had snacks and the best wine list in Brighton. the service was superb and not too pricey. I would not hesitate to recommend

Booked a wine tasting for me and my hubby. We had a warm welcome from Charlie, who took the time to have a good chat and give us some good info about the wines we were tasting. Was a very good evening and will recommend to anyone wanting to try something new.

Recently came here and although we were pretty much the only people in the restraunt (as it was boiling outside) the food, wine and service was superb! Definitely be back.

What a gorgeous day! Gemma was bloody amazing and we had the moment wonderful day. I absolutely love my wines but my other half is not a wine drinker at all. We were relaxed, not rushed and it was super fun. Gemma was helpful and gave us enough information about the wine that we were not bored but we just enjoyed the experience!

I had booked the cheese and wine tasting event as a gift for my boyfriend and I really can’t recommend it highly enough. Just saying that we tasted six delicious and unusual wines, and six incredible cheeses doesn’t really do justice to how fun the event was. The chap explaining the wines (and I apologise I don’t recall his name) was knowledgable and chatty, but also didn’t overdo it - leaving us alone for a decent length of time with each glass, to finish it off and to chat. That made it a perfect couples evening as we enjoyed learning about the wines but also weren’t short of time to just drink and talk.

Had a lovely afternoon in here with my partner doing the wine tasting. Sam was very informative and answered all of our (probably annoying) questions about the wines we had all of which I enjoyed greatly. We stayed on for a bit and had a couple more glasses before we left and found it to be very fairly priced this on top of a great selection and good service makes it well worth a visit

I'm not a wine bar person but ended up here as part of a small work night out - the choice of wines is exceptional and I have to say I was extremely pleased with the prices.

Lovely little pit stop for a couple of glasses of wine. The staff clearly knew their stuff which was great for recommendations. We had a cheese/charcuterie platter and whilst good quality, there was very little for £16 which was disappointing - just a thin slice of each cheese.

Place was buzzing when we got there. We were lucky to get a table. Ordered a bottle of Nero d'Avola and a mixed platter of cheese and charcuterie. Good quality, but portions a bit mean - should have ordered extra but were pushed for time.

Went here for wine tasting last and loved it. Top service from owner Simon and a great night. Will be back next time we’re in Brighton

Came for a wine tasting which lasted about 2 hours and included 6 wines. The gentleman leading the tasting was very nice and knowledgeable. He’d share details about the region and the wine itself and then leave us for 15min to enjoy the wine and chat. + great selection of cheeses & meats with freshly baked bread if you’re feeling a little peckish Definitely recommended *****

I went in a group of 18 for the wine tasting challenge. At £25 per head it was excellent value and we even got some snacks as well. It was a very enjoyable experience and all of my pals were saying how much they enjoyed it afterwards. Generous portions of wine and not at all rushed. We were there for about 2.5 hours.

This place is amazing, staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is cosy and intimate. Must be good for dates or just good friends catch ups. Carlo and Charlie are outstanding and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. They raccomended delicious wines and fulfilled our expectations. I am literally in love with this place and I strongly raccomend it for every occasion. It’s also a beautiful hide out from the caos of Brighton during the weekend. Strongly strongly raccomended!!

my son bought me this as a birthday present surprise ....unlike other reviews...not a first time for everything...the sommelier clumsily led us around six meagre portions of wine that were pre selected by the establishment....too intellectualised... an a bit of a rip off......dont bother ....an cost £60...

I was given a cheese and wine tasting experience as a gift. It was such a fun evening. Sam made it interesting and we had a laugh too - I think we learned something about wine too. The cheeses and wine together were a perfect match.

OK, first an admission, i'm quite old(ish) and working people didn't drink wine when I was growing up, pubs didn't sell it, only posh people drank it in fancy restaurants where the menu was in french. As I don't like posh people or snotty restaurants, i assumed i wouldn't like wine bars.

First vist 3 years ago, approached the bar and ordered 2 drinks, the staff looked uncomfy, and said "it's not that kind of place." was very embarrassed, and didn't go back until recently, and now I love it there! I mentioned the kind of wine I like, and he found one for me, it was delicious. Would also recommend the local Court Garden sparkling white cuvee.

We had a wonderful afternoon at Ten Green Bottles! Our wine tasting expert was Charlie and he made it a lot of fun. He was very knowledgable! We tasted a really interesting array of wines from fizzy, to white and red.

we were given a voucher for 10 green bottles and booked in an afternoon with Charlie for wine and cheese tasting. We had such a fun time and were given so much information by Charlie and were able to ask many questions, without feeling daft! The portions of cheese are very generous and the wine just kept on flowing. We are definitely going back and will also try the tapas, which looked very delicious.

Great place to meet friends enjoy good wine, cheese and or cold meats. Wine is good value however get there early or book as this place is not large and fills up qucikly

Four of us enjoyed a wonderful time with Simon, who led us through a cheese and wine pairing experience. Simon is very knowledgable, personable and professional and had a great sense of humour to go with it. Some really lovely wines and cheeses were combined particularly the white wines and softer cheeses. Great experience all round.

Visited Ten Green Bottles yesterday. Had two vouchers for cheese and wine tastings between the family. Initial welcome by Simon and subsequent tasting was fantastic. He surely knows his stuff. The wines he chose and the cheeses to go with them were amazing. No stinting on the amount of wine given and so much information on each.

I brought the cheese & wine tasting experience for my husband as a Christmas present after having attended a group wine challenge. This was very different from the group challenge. Sam our host was friendly & knowledgeable. The experience was interesting and we really enjoyed learning how the wines worked with the cheeses and vice versa. You sample 6 wines & 6 cheeses to compliment. We stayed for an extra glass of our 2nd sampled wine. The wine and cheese tasting experience made for a great Christmas present. Would highly recommend.

Excellent little wine bar, really knowledgeable staff with a great service every time. Wonderful and affordable wine lists. We also did the wine tasting experience which was great fun! Only downside is this place does get very busy.. so not easy to get a table!

I live in Brighton but only came across this place with friend,what a gem the wines were good,the staff knew everything there was to know about the wines,the atmosphere is wonderful and on a plus you can buy wines to take away and reasonably priced.I would certaininly go back here for a visit.

10 Green Bottles was booked as a Christmas present so I used the voucher for a wine tasting. We tasted 6 wines over the course of 1.5-2 hours and it was very enjoyable. The guy who took us through everything was very knowledgable and we liked it because it wasn't too 'stuffy', accessible and easy to understand. We also were offered a couple of samples of cheese and cold meat to demonstrate the difference in taste with the wines.

Brilliant day with very informative staff and a relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend anyone who enjoys wine to experience this place. Given bread, olives and pistachios as a snack plate.

We love TGB so decided to have part of our wedding reception there. It was amazing, everything we wanted, Simon and Charlie could not have done more to look after us and our guests. The wine and food were delicious, the kids were not left out either and everyone has been saying how much they loved the time

I hadn't realised when it said hosted that the host would spend so much time with us, but Charlie spent pretty much the whole time we were there with us, chatting to us about the wines and cheeses, about why he chose them and answering any questions we had. He was great company and he made the afternoon very fun. We got to try one sparkling white wine, two whites, two reds, and a sherry-style dessert wine, each paired with a really delicious cheese.

Such a fabulous place to learn about & taste fine wines. It’s now my 4th time & every time we’ve been it’s just fabulous. The staff know exactly what they’re talking about & serve the best cheeses with whatever your tasting. We’ve taken friends & relatives for birthday gifts & it’s really appreciated. Just finished a meal for a birthday, a friend wanted to buy special bottle of sparkling wine. I recommended 10 Green Bottles, however upon arrival we asked for a list of sparkling wines, something special and the two gentlemen serving simply repeated the same brand over and over again. They said the wine list was outdated and gave us no confidence at all. So we said no problem, left, went to Wagon & Horses and purchased a £180 bottle of champagne. What a disappointment, so upset and also shocked at how a business could essentially turn away a decent purchase.
