Decided to have a nice lunch out on Sat afternoon .choose Teans Thai. Glad we did. Both of us had the set menu. Wow good choice. Chicken skewers with peanut sauce. Prawn toast with spicy sauce pork hot sauce they actually out extra chills as requested ..mine was sweet snd sour chicken was so tasty beautiful friendly staff.. well worth a visit at any time xx will be back again either on a Sat afternoon or a night visit...seriously worth a visit for a very good meal

Tasty! I had the chicken skewers with peanut sauce for starters then the thai green cury with chicken, and wow the flavour amd portion size was outstanding!! Absolutely gorgeous food sooo much flavour, family of 6 and all loved it even the fussy ones of us.

My family and I came down to Newton Abbott for a holiday and attended Tean's Thai Kitchen for my mums birthday. We had an amazing night, the food was beyond incredible and the staff were so attentive and lovely. Highly recommend and will be coming back.

Everything went perfectly well. From the beginning asking if I may bring in two home made birthday cakes for my Partner and one of our Lady friends. Nothing is beyond them. From the moment we arrived the friendliness is evident. Service prompt and food quality 1st. class. I have used Teans Thai Kitchen many times with different friends and family and on every occasion I receive the same attention. Well done to all the wonderful Staff.

We had a takeaway of 2 chicken thai green curry (no rice, we cooked that at home) which was really fresh, fragrant and tasty. And a side of prawn toast, which whilst tasty was super small for the price! Getting 4 tiny little triangles of bread for £8 felt like a rip off. I know this is a "starter" of the main menu, so perhaps on a plate with garnish would be more reasonable. However this was a takeaway and i even picked it up myself- so these 3 items at almost £35 seems very pricey- especially the prawn toast. Maybe you could alter your pricing for takeaways in this instance..

Excellent food, great service & great atmosphere. We were driving through Newton Abbot as part of a visit to Devon and saw this restaurant as the outside is very much traditionally Thai looking so thought we’d give it a try. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was very busy and we hadn’t booked but the manager / head waiter managed to fit us in and was very accommodating.

Came to this restaurant for 12pm. Haven’t been here for a while due to covid but it is still the same very high standard. Food excellent, service excellent, very clean and the staff were cleaning touch points when we were there. Very impressed we will be back very soon.

You gotta give this place 5*.A great meal, first class, duck, lamb and chicken melt in the mouth. Followed up by a cracking sorbet and a couple of liquor coffees. Staff… super attentive, nothing is too much trouble, the chefs never get enough gratitude. The only downside (sometimes) are that the tables for two are so close together. It’s like Russian Roulette who will be seated next to you, listening to you private conversations, knowing your life stories… but tonight was an experience . Being a mature couple we could see out of the corner of our eye, a young couple heading next to us… loud, giggling, ordering shots by the bucket load. Well this couple (D&J) just made our night complete. A super night, great food, drink and company.

I think this must be the fourth or fifth time visiting Teans & it just gets better with each visit, I've enjoyed the amazing food on each visit & my ultra critical better half is always so complimentary. Its freshly made food cooked by Thai chefs & you can tell they love their job!. I can't recommend this place higher enough, if you're passing Newton Abbot make the effort to pay this restaurant a visit if you can't stay order a takeaway !!

At last our friends arrived from Thailand so had to take them to Teans. Once again did not fail and booked again before Xmas. We asked for a few dishes that’s not on the menu in advanced and this was no issue. Also on a cold wet evening the restaurant was lovely and warm from opening witch I was surprised at.

I was hesitant to write a review after I’ve read previous where the owner has replied quite rudely & negatively. However. After visiting Newton abbot our first night we decided to go for Thai, ordering the stable Padthai, I have eaten this dish in many places including Thailand. It was shocking, tasted more like a dodgy off Bolognese with slimey mushrooms. My instinct said not to eat it all so only managed 5/6 mouthfuls and left the rest. The service was friendly & polite and beer was cold which was all I had for dinner that night. Was very disappointed. My partners food want much better. Unimpressed

September 2019 We walked past this restaurant one day and thought it looked really nice, so when friends were coming over we suggested a take away from here.We all enjoyed the food, especially the lamb, and have decided we will definitely visit the restaurant for a sit-in meal next time we meet up.July 2021Update: came here for family celebration with our children and it was a fantastic experience. Staff were amazing, food delicious l, honestly cannot fault anything. We will definitely be back.

Food and staff very good.We would recommend Thai green curried chicken in particular- creamy and hot.We were too full up for sweets as we had a menu A for 2 as a set meal and found it to be more than adequate We did see some sundaes go by and they looked enormous

We visited with daughter and son in law and 2 small children . We were a little late due to traffic and this was not a problem . The service was friendly and efficient . Each course was cooked really well and decent portion sizes . We had mixed starter , chicken masamam , a beef and duck dish and chicken pad Thai . All were absolutely lovely . The only thing we could say as a negative is that not complimentary crackers came out with drinks and this is the only Thai we’re I ve not experienced this . The starters came out quick so was not a problem . If we weren’t on holiday and this was our local , we would definately be regulars

I was on holiday locally with my wife, our son, his wife and our 2 grandsons - aged 7 & 5. We checked out the restaurant's website and based on some great reviews we booked a table. The staff were friendly and attentive. The serice was very good. There was a very good range of menu choices. The food was well presented and delicious. The portions were generous, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, as did our 2 young grandsons.

Having enjoyed an evening at Newton Abbot races we were looking forward to our visit to Teans Thai Kitchen. We certainly were not disappointed. Great food, great fun and a great atmosphere. The food was excellent, I particularly enjoyed the king prawn and pineapple kebab style starter and the steamed sea bass. Very attentive staff too.It was our first visit, it will certainly not be our last.

I rarely give 5 star rating but this one deserves it. I have Asian food regularly and the food here was delicious. The flavour and texture was excellent. Service was great as well. The restaurant is quite small but authentic. I was also impressed with the toilet. It was spotless clean. The tap was shining with no water marks. The floor was clean and dry. Everything seems like it has just been cleaned. It also plays music in the toilets which you normally see in toilets of 4 star hotels. If the owner pays so much attention to detail to toilet, I have no doubt they put more effort in ensuring the food standard is high. I highly recommend and would definitely visit again when we are back to Torbay again.

We visited Teans Kitchen on 17th July for our monthly anniversary. Teans was everything we wanted, lovely Thai food served by very pleasant attentive staff.More importantly we where very impressed with the cleanliness & sanitisation which was done to a high standard, i.e. tables, both surface & underneath, chairs, menus where all thoroughly wiped down. Also we saw that the staff regularly cleaned the toilets. We would not hesitate to visit Teans again as we had a thoroughly good evening. Many thanks to the Tean staff for a lovely evening. Great food and friendly attentive service. We visited on a Thursday evening, four guys who’d had a days golf and were staying overnight near Newton Abbot to play in a Charity event the next day. When we arrived at our hotel around 7:15pm we were told their restaurant was fully booked so we looked on Tripadvisor, saw this Thai restaurant had good reviews and called to see if they could fit us in around 8:15pm. Thankfully they could. The whole experience was first class. We were so lucky to get in. When we arrived a table had been reserved for us and very soon the restaurant was full. Testament to how good it is - full on a Thursday evening! We will certainly visit again when in the area.

Came here for a quick meal before watching the football and glad that we did. Starter was generous, we shared and thought that we had ordered two by mistake and both curries were very good, especially the green chicken curry. Service was friendly and polite.

The staff at this venue are amazing, we called at 3 to get a table at 6. We forgot auntie was allergic to prawns and the team were amazing, they recommended meals that she could have and plated the starters separately so they wasn't cross contaminated. The team were friendly, welcoming and most of all were happy to have the children there and acknowledged them, getting them involved with the ordering. Food was also amazing. 100% recommended!!

I got called out for work just passed Newton abbot, from Plymouth. The perfect takeaway option on the way home I thought. What a good choice this was. 35 min drive getting more hungry by the mile. Boy it was worth it. Thankyou for staying open for the likes of myself who really needed that takeaway on Friday. Covid safe guys, keep it up x

I have been to this restaurant a few times in the past & rate the food & staff amongst the best I've visited. Obviously with this blooming lockdown its impossible to eat in but as I was going to be passing through on a business trip I called two days prior to my day trip to make sure I could order what was needed !Order 4 starters & 4 mains to be taken back home, they knew I was going to be in the car for at least two hours to get home so they made sure I knew exactly how to reheat every dish. All I can do is praise this establishment, you pay for what you get which is amazing freshly cooked food with no cheap 'me too' products in my opinion. If I want cheap plastic food I'd go elsewhere but for in my opinion the best Thai original food look no further you won't be disappointed.

We ordered take out for my partner birthday the phone staff was lovely as we placed a big order which we need to change a few things due to fussy eaters they was very patient and the food was amazing can’t wait to order again

Comment relates to takeaway only: food is around 7/10, no better than other Thai options in the locality. Value is very poor in relative terms as they offer no discount for takeaway if less than £30 - you pay their restaurant prices hence food is 20-30% more expensive than equivalent dishes from establishments that take a sensible approach to takeaway pricing.

We ordered a takeout form Teans Thai for the first time last night and wow, it was incredible. The whole experience was excellent right from the start. Even the ordering and collection process was enjoyable & very COVID secure. Each dish was so tasty, so many delicious flavours, everything was cooked perfectly. We will certainly be ordering from here again, Highly recommended, thank you.

Had a good sit down there so had a takeaway. What a difference!!! Pad Thai was pure sugar, zero so zing or flavour. The green curry must have had a cup of the sh sauce init, it was so salty. And we all slept badly, was there msg in it too?

We came for our last meal before lockdown, I’m not a huge fan of Thai food, but my friends are so we ordered and I’m now a big fan! I have been to another Thai restaurant locally, but this was so much better. I loved the food, it was so fresh! I loved the atmosphere from the decor to the staff. The price was brilliant, it was all just lovely and I cannot wait to come back after lockdown!

We’ve eaten at Tean Thai twice this month . The staff are delightful, the restaurant is so clean and welcoming. The food is really delicious. Can’t wait for it to open again in December after lockdown.

Back again...... always try to visit at least once a year, what seemed a busy early evening one of the ladies still had time to engage with my 3 year old, It gave us that 10 minutes just to enjoy are main meal while the table was full of a selection of dishes. I though what a lovely thing to do as not many restaurants would do that and give the time. The food goes without saying. Excellent. Excellent every time. It really is our favourite place, shame we dont live closer to you. Thankyou

I went here on the recommendation of my father & wow I was not disappointed !. I took my girlfriend here for a surprise dinner before we started a weekend in Salcombe & the food just blew both of us away. I was amazed to find out that everything was made on site nothing apart from the ingredients was brought in & the taste & freshness you could tell the difference from other Thai restaurants I have visited. The staff were so attentive making sure that they had explained the dishes to us but discreet enough to allow us to enjoy this amazing food. We had the added pleasure of meeting Tean the owner, what a lovely lady & you could tell she was so passionate about the food quality & the Service we had had. Will be back again as this place is a total gem, I cannot recommend this place highly enough, thank you for a great evening we loved it & felt so safe in these crazy times we live in.

Amazing food. Great flavour and ordered for takeaway and got it with in 20 minutes and reasonable price.

We visited here due to the great reviews it receives but left feeling disappointed.The food tastes fine, but I have had much better Thai food in the past and personally wouldn't rate this particularly highly.I found it expensive as well. But the biggest let down for us was the staff who I found to be quite unfriendly. They seemed to be quite pleasant to locals, but they came across quite cold to us and it was very difficult to get their attention. By the end of the night, we were the last patrons there, they had cleared our dishes but it was difficult to get them to come over and give us the bill. It was all a bit strange.Maybe we just had a bad experience. I saw there were some, what I think may be Thai people eating there, so that tends to be a good sign? In any case, I definitely would not return.

With Covid it is sometimes difficult to relax - not in this restaurant. The tables were nicely spaced and the cleanliness was excellent. The food was delicious. The staff were honest and when I left my spectacles behind they even posted them back to me. Well done!

This Thai restaurant is a gem! The foot was spectacular (we ate too quickly to take a picture as it was that good but would really recommend the masamman curry!). Delicious food, friendly service and served quickly as well! Staff are so pleasant as well and made our visit feel extra special.

We stumbled across this gem while passing through Newton Abbot and it turned out to be the highlight of our Bank Holiday weekend. The server, Panda (cute name!), was very welcoming and accommodating. Her service was excellent and her friendly and helpful attitude helped make it a perfect meal.Our kids had some food requests, which she took in her stride and the kitchen accommodated nicely. We were asked how hot we would like our dishes, and they were cooked to perfection. The decor is very authentic and really good quality. It was a very enjoyable experience!

This place is great and there's plenty of glowing reviews so I will stick to one subject..Oh my giddy aunt the chef's special dish Khor moo Yang - pork neck grilled is a truly exceptional dish , sweet, sour sticky and meaty with a super charged chilli sauce. Tender meat and so much depth of flavour, I ate here 3 weeks ago and I can still taste it , I'm plotting my return :)

Went to this restaurant with my wife for lunch. Sat at a table in the window, like a cosy booth for 2, where the world could be viewed passing by as we ate. The meal was very tasty, of a high standard and nicely presented by friendly staff. There is a varied range of beverages on offer, both alcoholic and non alcoholic, to accompany the meal. A Chang beer for me and a coke for madam with coffees to finish. So from the Lunch Set Menu, 2 starters, 2 main courses, a beer, a coke, 2 desserts and 2 coffees,and 2 fully belies later. --- £40

Last night Tean’s Thai re-opened after the Covid lockdown. The restaurant has been altered slightly. The kitchen has been moved nearer the bar and that has made it more cosy, but a bit smaller. The food was as scrumptious as ever. I had battered king prawns as a starter. They melt in the mouth. Delicious. For main I had duck stir fry. I like duck. Fresh and delightful.

Congratulations to shaun and all his staff making Teans Thai no 1 on our list and working so hard to get the restaurant open.Food as usual amazing ,and they have kept the same menu unlike other restaurants who think you want burgers and chips everytime.Great thought has gone into reopening Teans congratulations again. Went on a works do completely out of the blue and unplanned. Staff were brilliant, totally authentic and the food is the best we have had in a long time. Can totally recommend the sizzling platter!

We have visited before but came again for wifes birthday with 2 friends. The service was as usual excellent, efficient and we were able to enjoy our meal unhurried and relaxed. All four had the mixed platter starter and each had a different main course to follow. All of us enjoyed thoroughly. Due to the virus and our ages this will be our last meal out for sometime but glad it was here.

Recently moved to newton and thought we would try their takeaway as they were fully booked. We ordered 6 dishes to share and asked for 2 dishes to be altered with no problems. The food arrived piping hot and the taste was as fresh as being in the restaurant. Thankyou so much for a lovely takeaway.
