I enjoyed the freshly homemade cakes with tea. It is great to see that these one-off businesses are still around. I will be returning at Christmas; a treat for the wife and me without the kids. Highly recommended.

The tearoom is a lovely quaint little cottage. No onsite parking, but there is a free car park around the corner, opposite the post office.this was our 2nd visit. The first time we were seated upstairs but I didn't review on that occasion as the owners were changing just days so it wouldn't have been fair. The cottage is small and dainty, very intimate but you can hear everyones conversations around you! The food was lovely. May daughter had a cheese sandwhich, I had lovely chocolate orange cake which was amazing - the portions are a little small though, I could have eaten a 2nd slice!Overall, very nice and enjoyable, I would go there again.

Set in one of the remaining stone houses of old Corby, Jennie's retains all the interior features of the original building, including the large inglenook fireplace. But it is the little touches like the individual tea cosies and classic tea settings that along with excellent cakes and service that make this worth returning to.

I visited this little gem of a place today with my friend to treat her to a birthday lunch. Neither of us had ever been before, but we will both definitely be back.We were given a really warm welcome by the lovely, friendly staff. The tea shop itself is really beautifully done out. It is a really quaint and traditional, even down to the little tea cosies. It is these little details which make somewhere lovely really rather special. The subtle classical music playing in the background from the vintage-style radio really added to the relaxed, inviting ambiance. The menu provides ample choice, and there is also a specials board. We had sandwiches and a sausage roll which were all fresh and delicious. There is a good selection of tempting homemade cakes which were similarly delicious.I am just sorry we do not have anything like this in Peterborough, and am intending to bring my parents over for lunch soon.

Having been here several times before and not been disappointed it was a completely different case when attending a " hen do". The sandwiches were very poor not only in choice but quantity. Scones and cakes were also a let down. The cost of this tea was also quite expensive give what we were served. Perhaps this tea room is better dealing with less customers rather than a larger group.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I decided to come here while I was in Corby for the day as I was in the mood for a quick drink and a small bite to eat in the morning. With this place being conveniently located near the railway station, it seemed to be an ideal port of call. I was definitely pleased with my decision to come here as, while I'd be lying if I said that everything was fantastic, my cake was most certainly delightful. This place has a few quirks as the doors are so incredibly low that even short people risk bumping their heads on the frames. It also appears that the owner may reside there as nobody was downstairs upon arrival. This place isn't particularly easy to find, even if you're looking for it. However, if you find a pub and a garage, you're in the right place as it is located between the two.The menu here is incredibly small and basic, even for a tea room. Pretty much everything here is bread or pastry based. Even the breakfast options are simply a bacon roll, croissants or toast with a couple of basic toppings in scrambled egg or beans. The lunch options are simply whatever the soup of the day is, along with a few basic things like sausage rolls and pasties. There were a few surprising items here though as pâté is unusual for a tea room, while a scotch pie acknowledges the Scottish presence in the village. The signature item here appears to be a square sausage roll, which was unfortunately not available on my visit. Sandwiches are available as well as course, but there were only six of these, four of which were cheese with another basic ingredient. The only other options are tuna mayonnaise or prawns, both of which limit the diversity even more. A specials board offers more options, but there were only two of these on my visit which were a quiche and Ploughman's. Scones are obviously available here as well, but a surprising addition was Scottish tablet, continuing with the Scottish theme of the area. With only six cakes on offer, there wasn't a great deal to choose from and a number of these were somewhat similar as well. They had some unusual things here though with Creme Egg cake, piña colada cake, and parsnip and mango cake, all being things you are unlikely to see elsewhere. The range of hot drinks was somewhat disappointing for a tea room, with it being a list of the most basic coffees, tea and hot chocolate. I had a hard time narrowing it down to a single cake, but in the ended I opted to try a slice of the Creme Egg cake, while I also had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows to drink. Both the cream and the marshmallows on top of the hot chocolate were better than the standard fare. Given that you usually get exactly the same wherever you go, I was surprised by this. The cream was thicker than usual, but it was also sweeter as well, which made it much more pleasing. It remained entirely separate from the drink, resting on top without integrating with it at all. The marshmallows were bigger than usual, having a much stronger flavour as well. These too were nice and sweet, which again was really pleasing. They were a bit tough at first though, but this was soon resolved when the hot drink caused them to melt, which didn't take all that long. The hot chocolate came with barely any froth on top, which is just how I like it. Aside from that though, it was something of a disappointment, which was a real shame given how pleased I was with both the cream and the marshmallows. Unfortunately the hot chocolate is the thing that matters more than the toppings. That being said, the drink itself was definitely not bad, it was just simply average for a tea room hot chocolate. It had a sweet and chocolatey flavour, but neither were particularly strong and it was definitely not anything worth raving about. Surprisingly it was somewhat thick for a hot chocolate as well, although it was nowhere near the level one would expect from an Italian hot chocolate. The creme egg cake was not quite as expected, but it was certainly extremely good. The cake itself was fluffy and somewhat moist, although it became a little dry and stodgy at the very bottom. It had a nice chocolate flavour to it as well, which was surprisingly strong for a cake. There was cream on both the top and the middle but, rather than this being like the fondant one would find in a Creme Egg, this appeared to be ordinary chocolate cream. However, appearances can be deceiving as this proved to be so much more. Although the cream was chocolate cream, there seemed to be something of a fruity flavour about it as well and the two different flavours combined together really well to create an absolutely fantastic flavour. This cream was really smooth as well, just as it should be, ensuring that it was absolutely perfect. The cake was topped of with half a mini Cadbury's Creme Egg, which was obviously no better or worse than you would expect it to be. Despite all three components of the cake being chocolate, there was a surprising variety of flavours amongst the three as well as textures, all of which combined to create an incredibly enjoyable cake. The service here was definitely a bit different from usual as I arrived to find what appeared to be an empty tea room. A bell attached to the door alerted the owner to my presence and she came downstairs to greet me. It appears that the owner may live upstairs in this building as she spent the vast majority of her time up there while I was inside. In a way this turned out to be a minor inconvenience as, with this being an old building, it meant that there was a lot of creaking and banging coming from upstairs as she moved about. Unlike most tea rooms, you are required to pay up front here, which I suppose is due to the amount of time the owner spends upstairs rather than downstairs, where she would be able to see the customers. These two trivial issues aside, the service was in fact rather good as the owner was incredibly friendly and happy to engage in pleasant conversation. It appears to be something of a family business as well as her father is the local butcher, which means that some of his meat ends up in the products here. That being said, I'm surprised that there aren't more meat options on the menu because of this link. The prices here were pretty much what you would expect to pay on average in a tea room, although sevaral prices were towards the lower end of the average price range, which meant that there was definitely great value to be found in certain areas. The portion sizes seemed to be standard here but, while the cakes appear large in size due to their height, you get a thinner slice than usual, meaning that you end up getting the usual amount rather than more. Most of the food on the menu is about £2-3 each, with this including the cakes, breakfast items and lunch items. The sandwiches are a bit more, with all of these costing £3.70 each, with crisps included. Some of the more expensive items on the menu are the specials, which were £6.25 each and the pâté at £5. There are a few cheaper things as well with some cakes costing a mere £1.50 each, while toast and croissants were about this price as well. Hot drinks were mostly between £1.50 and £2 each, with it only being the inclusion of cream and marshmallows for an additional 50p that went above this price range. This tea room is split into three different rooms, with two of these being downstairs, while another room is available upstairs. Each of the downstairs rooms features a small fireplace built into the wall. However, neither of these are in use and a modern fake one has been placed in front of them instead. The tea room was very quaint in appearance and was filled with various knitted items as well as several cups, teapots and assorted bric-a-brac. A few black and white historic photos of Corby decorate the room as well, along with the odd painting here and there. The building is rather old and features incredibly low doorways, which cannot be much higher than five feet, ensuring that most people will bump there head if they can't careful. It isn't just the doorways that are low as the far end of the room on the right hand side as you enter features a low ceiling as well. While I didn't have a good look at the room upstairs, only seeing it through a doorway, it appeared very plain in appearance and only seemed to contain tables and chairs with a plain white wall. In terms of seating, there are a total of seven tables between the two rooms downstairs, six of which are designed to seat two. Additional seating is available upstairs, but I don't know how many tables are up there. This place is definitely not the easiest place to find from the street as the sign on the building is relatively small and its light colours can go unnoticed against the white paintwork. With no seating being available outside during the Winter period, it is all too easy to walk past this building taking it for an ordinary cottage, even if you are specifically looking for it.

Would recommend to everyone a must visit and only round the corner from train station so Pop in whilst waiting for your train . Downside it did rain but luckily we were finished otherwise our food would have been ruined . Maybe create a shelter for buggies outside where they will stay dry so people can come in .

I'm reluctant to give this superb tea room the rating it so deserves , as I'm scared next time we go we won't get a table . It's a must to go when hungry so you can have 1 of the homemade cakes . Love love love this gem of a place

This is a quaint little tea shop with excellent food and very nice friendly staff. We had a very pleasant time here. Not so easy to find or park but worth the effort and if you want to know anything about the area then just ask and they will help.

We visited Tea Jenny Cottage on a Friday afternoon having found it on TA as we did not know the area. We are so glad we did, it was a delightful place with pleasant surroundings, friendly staff and lovely cakes. Plus the bonus of 'proper' tea!We sampled a couple of the delicious cakes on display in the cabinet. My Coffee & Walnut was a generous slab with plenty of flavour and texture. The real leaf tea was very welcome on a warm afternoon. It was all served in china cups with boiling water to top up the pot when requested. We felt that prices were very reasonable too.I'm sure we shall return in the future. It's not an area we visit often but we may well make a detour. Thanks for the experience.

Service was good, knowledge of the daily special and quick service. Large servings. Vintage cottage decor. Various choices on menu, something to suit everyone. Larger room upstairs for renting. Two rooms on ground level.Need to remove the radio is to loud and does not lend to the atmosphere at all, especially if it's right behind your head.

A delightful Thatched Cottage where you can have a cup of freshly brewed Tea - with tea leaves in a proper teapot! Served in delightfully mismatched china cups & saucers , with a plethora of delicious home baked cakes & scones. A real step back in time with friendly service , plus other meals available - simple things too like toast or beans on toast. a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Need to go there soon

My husband and I came here for morning coffee a few weeks ago. I had a scone and coffee and he had cake. The food was delicious, they had a lovely selection, which when I asked about them was told they were all sourced locally and hand made. This place is perfectly placed in the old village, Corby and is a credit to its owners. We will be returning very soon.

A lovely little tea room set in a cottage in Corbys Old Village with a very vintagey, cosy feel.I have visited tea Jenny's twice, once for afternoon tea; a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes with a pot of tea. Reasonably priced at £15 per person. The second time for a cake, scone and pot of tea. A wide variety of delicious cakes are available. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. I would definetly recommend a visit.

I have visited Tea Jenny's many times mostly with my young daughter. We are always made to feel very welcome, the owner is lovely and always makes a point of coming over to talk to us. It is mostly cakes, sandwiches, salads type food and is always delicious. There are little old fashioned school desks full of books for the children to play with and the place is decorated beautifully. There is also a lovely function room upstairs available for small gatherings. Highly recommend.

My wife and I visited the Club for Sunday Lunch on 06th June 2021. We were very impressed with the hearty welcome of the staff and the way we were treated in general. After reviewing the comprehensive Luncheon Menu I had the traditional Roast Beef and Y/Pudding and my wife had the Steak and Ale Pie. The meals were very good and presented as well as any first class Restaurant. All the ingredients were cooked perfectly to our liking. The drinks we ordered were very reasonably priced,as was the menu meals and deserts. will be visiting again for sure very soon. We were so full and satisfied we could not handle dessert. We went there after staying overnight in Corby, reviews indicated good value and good food. As vegetarians we were told there was a vegetarian breakfast. Ordered two vegetarian breakfast’s, got them. Surprised there was no vegetarian sausage on the plate but had fried bread, hash browns, potato scone, toast, waffles, mushrooms, beans and egg, free tea and coffee, massive portions. Freshly cooked, great value!!

Visited the recently re-opened Royal George in Cottingham with friends for Sunday lunch. The food is outstanding and service excellent. Every member of the team goes out of their way to make sure you are having a great dining experience and Tomas, the owner and chef personally checked in with all diners to ensure they were happy with their food. He also spent time talking to us about any special food requests we may have for future visits. Fabulous afternoon and we absolutely recommend a visit. We will be regular guests for sure! We wish Tomas, his lovely wife and their friendly team every success with their new venture at the Royal George.
