A pub based on watching sports. I counted 7 TV's playing the football match. Seating was very tired and it was noisy. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful and our Sunday roast was decent and reasonably priced .

The bar staff were very strict with us about the children making noise and laughing loudly. Was asked many times for us to "control" the children. Considering we was there for my daughters 10th birthday it was a little annoying to say the least. We spent over £300 there as a group.

Tired, outdated and not keeping up to date. Menu much smaller than it used to be and quite expensive now.

Food is really good value, family and dog friendly. Staff great, happily lent us a pen so I could try and explain crosswords to the kids.

Great little pub in Altrincham, good beer, darts, friendly staff (Lee is great and really welcoming). Prices are really good, looking forward to seeing the new food menu in a few weeks. This will be a regular pub for us.

Very poor fayre even though it was a simple menu disappointed as the place came recommended 2nd time we've been here there won't be a third, great staff good service but woefully poor meals, Might want to turn volume down on the tv's not everyone want to listen to football commentary over a meal.

Called in for tea before travelling home. Meals and drinks were lovely, great service and son could play in the park overlooked by the terrace. We will be back!

Great pub in the summer especially if you have kids! Nice and affordable and the beer garden overlooks the park, so kids can play while you overlook and relax without being in the park, also a basketball court in view too. Plenty of seating and with parasols for shade too. Always clean and staff always friendly

Pleasant neighborhood spot with a large garden seating area overlooking a huge playground and big expanse of playing fields. Basic pub menu with daily specials. Reasonable prices. Our beef pies were very nice. Very friendly and prompt staff. Order at the bar, keep it simple and you’ll be pleased. We certainly were.

Friendly place to go, also right next to a park. My 4 year old son told me about this spot about 5 months ago! I have been a few times so still new but every experience has been nice. Good food, good people, garden area opens up to the park so can actually chill outside and watch the kids in the playground. Clean and cozy not too leary and not too quiet with down to earth polite staff. I will be there more often, I don't drink alcohol but the food and the vibe is right.

Excellent and friendly staff - this to me is the essence of a great pub. Despite the CoVid19 restrictions we managed to enjoy ourselves with a nice meal (from a fairly limited menu), excellent drinks and prompt attentive service.

Shocking service. Nearly an hour with no starter even came out and still waiting. Even when asked waitress for update she never came back. Unless you are not really hungry or have all afternoon and evening avoid having food here.

Was impressed with the covid measures in place. Plus the Chilli Nacho's were tasty

Visited recently because they have just reopened. Was unsure how they'd be able to cope with social distancing measure because it can get quite crowded inside under normal circumstances but I was very impressed with how they've managed everything. One way system in and out, the outside garden gates both closed so you couldn't come and go into the park which I thought was good. Full table service now and the staff have adapted well to work a way which they've never done before. Something to be aware of though is that they've limited their food trading hours so don't serve food all day now.

Been banned now for some reason ...so not happy with the place

I visited the pub on the 12th august after going to the park with a friend and our children. All was well until one of the bar staff made my 3 year old after telling him to not play with his toys cars on the entrance ramp which was fair enough, as my son was crying i tried to comfort him and explain why the man said that but within no more than a couple of minutes the bar manager came out and in front of everybody told me that my sons crying was pissing him off along with customer and i was to sort it out or leave. I explained inwas trying to stop my 3 year old crying and he thej told me he was a parent and his kids wouldnt do that. I was mortified to be lectured on how to parent and it made me feel like a really bad parent, this was at 3pm in the afternoon and ruined a good day at the park woth the children and we supported a local business by buying lunch for our group and were met with complete disrespect by the staff. Safe to say we got no apology and will not be going back here ever again.

Doesn't look like a pub, more like a cocktail bar or lounge with bright colours and modern design. Plenty of space, friendly staff and great food at low prices. Extensive menu.

We were all very pleased with our food order of pies sausages and steak & kidney puddings. All piping hot and very tasty, no frills just good food and good value for the price. The service was good too. Only down side was waiting time an hour for deserts as kitchen was busy so did not order.

I popped in for a beer and stayed for a few. Was literally welcomed in with open arms and introduced around to everyone. It was my last night before my flight home to Canada and a perfect ending to my holiday! Thanks Steve and friends!

A group of 25 of us from our Tai Chi group had a Christmas lunch here on Wednesday 11 December, the food was brilliant, the mains were lovely and hot, the tables were laid really nicely and we had crackers. We all had a really good time and the young lady with glasses and a pony tail, who was busy running around keeping us all happy, was great. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal at a great price!! I personally will definitely be going there again. Thank you.

Burgers and chips for £7.50 what’s not to like. Really good burgers, lots of different varieties big and juicy and decent chips!! I had the Mexican burger and it was really good. There was 6 of us eating and everyone enjoyed their meals. Nearly such a 4 however when we turned up the pub was messy, uncleared tables and food all over the floor. It was that bad we bought wipes next door to clean our own space. I would fully understand if it was busy but at one point there were 4 bar staff standing and chatting!! That aside great priced and tasty food just a gentle reminder to be more attentive to the environment 😀😀

First visit here for the Rugby World Cup Final, apart from that result, what a smashing pub, big inside, decent range of beers, lots of TV's about to catch the action, happy days, will be returning !

Popped into this establishment a few times this year & have always enjoyed my times in there. Never see trouble, locals seem really nice & all in all a really nice place to go to. Unfortunately, on alot of the occasions me & my friends have gone in there, we’ve invariably seen a group of 4 or 5 Women (They are invariably always in there together on a Friday), who pop in there with their kids after school & literally let them run riot, without a thought for the people who have gone in there for a drink with friends or to chill out after work for a drink. I again visited the Tavern On The Green on Friday 27th September & it was absolute carnage, and that was just at 5pm. Kids (under 6/7 years old) were running around wildly, jumping on chairs, etc whilst the women were getting drunk to the point of oblivion, and the thing to note here is, they always seem to buy the first bottle from the bar when they enter the premises, then begin to drink their own bottles that they have brought in from the Tesco next door. The management really need to get on top of this. You can see that the locals have spotted this, so the bar management need to also. No problem with kids being in pubs but this lot just let their kids run riot. I was there till about 11pm, the kids only went home at around 9:30pm. What on earth?!?! This is such a good place to go to for a few drinks but someone needs to have a word with this group of neanderthals. Why should all else enjoying themselves in there have to put up with kids screaming the place down when their parents should learn to control them or not bring them in at all...? Please can someone also pull them up on bringing in their own wine, prosecco, etc also. All else have to pay at the bar so why shouldn’t they...??

Went there last Sunday got to be the dirtiest pub in Crawley the toilets are disgusting. It's a shame because the pub is in a nice area it needs a total refurb. If the owners are not interested anymore they should move on and let someone else have a go.You have got to be brave to eat in here it's a sh-thole.

Good selection of the mainstream beers but not a place for testing different ales. Probably one of the few pubs around that serves its loyal locals well, they keep it busy.

With a playground right in front of it it's perfect if you fancy a chill out while the kids play.

This is our Local pub but the food was disappointing we ordered an rodeo burger and a chicken burger with onion rings. When it came out we asked where our onion rings where young girl said it weren’t on ticket and you will have to order at the bar and just walked off . Now we never expect much but they must have changed the chef because they used to do a lovely Rhodeo burger with cheese an bbq sauce. This was burnt and over cooked with no sauce or cheese Everything in fact was very. Staff attitude was disappointing as well as food. Bring back old chef !

We have been regulars for several years and have always enjoyed this family orianted pub, great atmosphere, great drinks and great food BUT over the last few months they have started to allow dogs in which they never did before, I'm told the Landlord, Steve decided to get a dog himself which he allows in the bar, he is not resident but chooses to bring it with him. Seeing his dog the flood gates opened!! This Saturday I counted five dogs doing what they do, barking, dribbling and roaming. Dogs should not be allowed in pubs that have an emphasis on serving food, its gross and unhealthy, dribble moulting hair, genaties and the such life. They need to review their policy, a family pub or a dogs retreat.

Very intimidating place. I went with two friends after work for a couple of drinks, to celebrate a friends birthday. It won’t be a venue that we’ll return to in a hurry! My friend, who is handicapped got laughed at by the polish women behind the bar. She was incredibly rude and no one said anything to her? She made a comment about the way he walks by saying “he’s had too much to drink” then laughed. She said she was only joking but that was not responsible humour in any bodies language. I’ve heard bad things about her from a previous visit but this time her rudeness was very apparent. Some of the locals and that particular member of staff, were definitely on something synthetic, I’m a nurse I know the signs and it was obvious. Will NEVER return. Avoid!!!

Extremely poor service on the food side,30 mins to get egg on toast?.

Desperately disappointing. The locals were in and out of the men’s and ladies toilets, a little to often for my liking..... as an ex police officer, I did not appreciate the behaviour and I wouldn’t be surprised, if the pub was raided anytime soon. Nice location, overlooking the green however, the clientele and moody bar staff made this trip anything but worthwhile.

I went here with my friend for a drink. Not bad place, nicely laid out. Staff were good, music was good. It has 2 TVs for anyone wanting to watch the football when it's on. Reasonable prices. We will come back.

My girlfriend and I visited this local pub, shortly after moving to the area. We got recommended whilst in there to try the food, it was lunchtime so we conveniently obliged.

I live locally so come to The Tavern quite a lot. I have never had a problem. Food is so cheap and portion sizes are big. I never leave hungry. It is good to pop in for an after work drink. It can get busy but there's never too long a wait at the bar. There's a play area outside next to the pub garden which is handy in the summer because you can see your child playing. The only warning I can give people is if you aren't a fan of football, stay away during the world cup. Brilliant atmosphere but A LOT of people.

Staff really unhelpful and when queried if there are any tables available they resume it to a "if there's nothing cleaned so it's not available".

One of my fav pubs in Crawley esp for a quick pint and lunchtime food. Does not look much from the outside but inside is quite art deco and clean. Sky sports on tv. Welcoming. I had a cider.
