Taste Of India in Islington

Ordered online for home delivery and when our order arrived not for the first time the order was not correct first time chapattis were missing the 2nd time the samosa shoiluld of been meat but were vegetable then tonight ordered 2x chicken bhuna and recieved 2x chicken korma and when I phoned to complain I asked for the manager but was told I was speaking to him but if he was the manager he was very rude about the mistake and blamed the driver I can't see how the driver could have made the mistake as the rest of our order was correct . Now have to wait for the correct curry to arrive which means the rest of our order has gone cold and they won't replace the complete order and we could give back the original order . I think this shows poor customer service and we won't be using them ever again as they show no remorse for there mistakes or offer any form of discount on next order

AVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS! Went into this run down restaurant for dinner and the waiter probably an Bangladeshi immigrant barely can speak English, rudely asks me to leave when I asked for a table for 1 to dine in and tells me to leave, claiming they only take group bookings even though only two tables were occupied. Is this a way to run a business and treat customers the owner should be ashamed and should sack it’s incompetent staff. Will not be going here and will recommend everyone to avoid this restaurant. 08-02-2023

Just want to recommend The Taste of India 160 Essex Road - since we ate there last night and often have home delivery too - can honestly say food is always very good and service too. We took a friend who was really impressed. It is reasonably priced and very clean and comfortable seating - well worth a visit.

My family have been using this fantastic Indian restaurant since it opened in the 1980’s! Lovely food and very friendly helpful staff!

La comida, literalmente, tardó unos 90 minutos en llegar y cuando llegó estaba fría como una piedra, ni siquiera un poco tibia. Pagamos la cuenta, pero le informamos al camarero que es la peor comida que hemos tenido y se encogió de hombros. . No gastar ni un centavo más aquí.

Acabo de llegar a casa después de una deliciosa comida familiar en uno de mis restaurantes favoritos. La comida es increíble! ! ! El restaurante es muy acogedor y el personal es muy amable y servicial. Siempre responderán con gusto cualquier pregunta sobre la comida. El restaurante está bellamente decorado y los asientos son cómodos. La comida llega encantadora y caliente y siempre está recién hecha. El servicio es excelente y los camareros son atentos pero no excesivamente. Los poppadoms y las salsas también son deliciosas. Los precios son justos y las porciones son generosas. Definitivamente recomendaría 'El sabor de la India' a cualquiera que ame la comida india.

En primer lugar, solo quiero decir que el personal aquí fue encantador y muy educado conmigo mismo y mi grupo de amigos a pesar del hecho de que habíamos llegado tarde, después del pub y claramente habíamos tomado unas copas. El lugar es pequeño y tiene un ambiente tranquilo y relajado, perfecto para una comida tranquila con amigos o una cita fácil. Tienen una buena selección de vinos y enormes botellas de cobra que son una delicia si tienes un curry caliente.¿Los alimentos? Perfecto y muy sabroso. Lleno de sabor exactamente lo que esperaba considerarme y mis amigos nunca habían estado en este restaurante antes. El tamaño de las porciones de curry era un poco más pequeño de lo que esperaba y el korma de gambas se encontró demasiado dulce para gustarle, pero salí del restaurante lleno y mis amigos se fueron satisfechos ya que también habíamos pedido popadoms y samosas para la mesa. El pan naan era precioso, especialmente el ajo y peshwari naans. Yo mismo, tuve un cordero Bhuna que era encantador, solo desearía haber pedido que se caliente.En general, esta comida fue muy buena, a un precio decente e incluso satisfizo los gustos de las personas que no estaban muy familiarizadas con la cocina india.

It's been a number of years since I have been to th state of India and although they have had an a staff change, and the the interior has had a refit and the small bar at the entrance has moved. I felt the restaurant has moved forward and the refurbishment has had a positive effect as the atmosphere was good and the food and service was amazing. Please try this restaurant as I forgot years ago what made it brilliant and the meal was amazing. Not packed out like Upper Street, but that's a good thing!

La última vez que estuve en Taste of India en Essex Road ya no tenía el mismo ambiente, no había música en el fondo, ya no sirven alcohol y el personal estaba demasiado ocupado corriendo. preparando la comida para llevar. Nos detuvimos aquí en el camino a un concierto para un bocado rápido. Teníamos saag & paneer con un simple naan y sheesh kebab con arroz pilau. Todo estaba realmente sabroso y encontramos todo excepcionalmente sabroso. Enhorabuena al chef y al personal.

Really lovely food, arrived hot and was exactly what we ordered. I was also very impressed that it came in foil containers with card lids which can be recycled rather than plastic. Will definitely be ordering from them again.

Food quality was excellent,fresh & delicious. Restaurant service efficient & professional. They kept me updated & informed on delivery, which was reassuring. Delivery was ten (10) mins early. Este es mi restaurante favorito de la India. La comida es excelente. El menú tiene mucho para elegir. El servicio siempre es bueno. Los camareros son muy atentos. . . Pero no demasiado. Hay a veces una corta espera por la comida. Pero, prefiero que como siempre sale caliente y recién hecha. Hay un bar, así que se puede tomar una copa y algunas salsas y poppadoms mientras espera. Las porciones son de un buen tamaño y el precio. Nos encanta.

Pedimos nuestra comida para llevar semanales como de costumbre. Esperé casi una hora para la entrega, lo cual está bien si tienes la comida correcta entrega. Mi marido y yo había sido enviado mal el curry. Llamé al restaurante y sólo me dijeron que me iban a enviar reemplazos por nosotros en los platos, pero sería incorrecto otro 50 minutos de espera. Cuando señalé este no sería aceptable, como el resto de nuestra orden estaría sentado allí y que un reembolso sería más apropiado el 'manager' increíblemente grosera dijo que sólo el reembolso de los platos es incorrecta. Me dijo que un reembolso completo sería necesario ya que ahora no puedo comer cualquiera de nuestra comida (no tengo intención de comer arroz y pan seco. . . ). Él empezaron a gritar por el teléfono a mí, lo que le sacó en su falta de modales y de servicio al cliente, para que se puso el teléfono abajo en mí. Llamé y pregunté por el gerente y conseguí este perdedor de nuevo. Después de nuevo tener que recordarle sus modales me dijo que puedo tener mi dinero, pero ya no sin entregar a nosotros! Así que estoy siendo sancionada por su error. . Me colgó de nuevo. porque él fue "ocupado", así que envié mi marido volver al restaurante con la comida para mi reembolso. Cuando llegó me has adivinado quién era él como él tenía una bolsa de comida con él. Le dijeron a 'Esperar' cuando pedi hablar con un miembro del personal. Ya nos habían tratado tan escandalosamente mi marido se aseguró la otros clientes podía oír lo que estaba sucediendo. Les dijo que estaba esperando más y él no estaba contento con su esposa siendo hablado groseramente cuando llame por el error. El director llegó a mi marido (no un pequeño amigo. . . Mientras sosteniendo un plato) caliente y le metian en el pecho con los dedos! Con razón mi marido cambiaron su mano fuera de él y le dije que no se toque. . El director de dicho. él necesitaba salir si quería su restitución (todos los clientes ahora informaron de lo sucedido. . . Mi marido se negó) y se aseguró de esta pésima falta de servicio fue testigo. Estoy horrorizado por cómo yo y mi marido eran ambos tratados. Tanto nuestras familias también han sido grandes clientes durante años y ahora ninguno de nosotros nunca va a desperdiciar nuestro dinero allí de nuevo!

Been going A.T.O.I for over 20 years best curry house by far in islington! The service is friendly the currys are authentic and the rice is fluffy!

Had a takeaway and it was not great, very greasy and lacked flavour. The owner / manager; man in his 50’s with a short beard was very rude and abrupt. First and the last time here.

I ordered a sweet lasso with my meal. It came in the middle of hot food and was warm. I put it in the fridge for 10 minutes and went to drink it but it tasted awful, the yoghurt tasted like it was off. Not very pleased, it's the second time it's arrived warm but the first time it was off and tastes rancid.

I ordered from here based on a fairly good rating, but I wish I hadn't... I ordered a meal for just myself, which is good as I would not have wanted to serve this up to friends or family. Chicken Dansak - Little flavour (and not a very nice flavour), some heat, chicken was tough (suspect it was frozen, not fresh), and small portion size (rice container, rather than the larger containers you get from pretty much every other place). Pilau rice - was OK, but hard to get wrong. Meat samosa's - more chewy than crispy, felt like they were stale before they were cooked. On top of that, their prices were actually higher than the places I usually order from, so I expected the food to be at least as good, and the same size portions. Maybe it was because I ordered very late at night, but that's no excuse. The only good thing was the quicker than expected delivery, but that cxertainly does not make up for the poor quality food. Will not order from here again.

Just Eat sent a message saying the take away would arrive at 9.20pm. I had a call from the delivery driver at 8.55pm saying he was outside.. I explained I was not yet home because I'd been informed it wouldn't be there for another 25 minutes. He was very rude in the phone and said he could leave the food outside the house (it was raining). I asked if he could come back in 25 minutes and re-deliver and he said no, that we'd have to collect it from the restaurant. I was told the food would be kept warm in the restaurant but when I arrived it was just sitting on the side. What baffles me is that these guys must know that they don't do award winning food, it is average at best, so you'd think they try and make up for it with good service. Unfortunately they are rude, they failed at accept their mistake and offered no apology whatsoever. There are much better places in Islington for a take away curry and you best avoid this place in my opinion.

Nos fuimos a cenar con nuestro tío y su primo a este restaurante que es su aspecto Eatery de promedio. Estaba limpio y ordenado, con un gran servicio de atención al cliente, los camareros eran muy amables y serviciales con nuestras decisiones sobre qué comer y el calor niveles que era muy preciso. Pedimos, pollo Vindaloo, gambas Masala, pollo Korma 7.50, pollo balti, y algunas verduras condimentadas, arroz de coco, Naan y algunas bebidas. La comida fue absolutamente deliciosa, l no soy un gran curry come l pero encontramos lo que comimos gambas Masala era muy agradable. Recomiendo encarecidamente el lugar para una razonable Eatery ...

Very fussy about Indian restaurants, but have to say that I very much liked this one! Nice Decor, pleasant music (being Indian, tried to guess the film that the songs were from) and quite clean. Service was fast and non-intrusive, food was delicious and reasonably priced - about £35 for two...but watch the alcoholic drinks, that may sting a little. Enjoy!

Chicken pakora is just poor quality chicken in breadcrumbs. Absolutely awful and clearly not made by a trained Indian chef. The rest was average at best, won't go again. It was also 20 minutes late.

Visited the 'Taste of India' midweek prior to a gig at The Old Queens Head. It is a 5-6 min walk from there as well as O2 Academy and worth the trip.A smallish restaurant with approx 30 covers that was about 1/4 on a Wednesday night.My visit was short, but enjoyable. The main course of a Lamb Passanda restaurant special was very enjoyable. Servings were reasonable in size and the menu is extensive.Prices are very fair including wine where a bottle of Chblis is less than £19.Service, prompt, efficient and friendly.The only slight negative, my starter of a Pakkora was quite small in size and I had to ask for a drinks menu.Thoroughly enjoyable visit and if you are in the area worth a visit.

An avid lover of Indian food, i decided to give this place a go & only having been in London for over a month was desperate for a decent fix of my favorite dish Chicken Bhoona Madras, Boiled Rice & Chapati's.How disappointed was i when i got home to open up the Bhoona container to see it was bright red runny sauce with bits of chicken occasionally popping up through the sauce, no fresh ingredients in the dish at all & it tasted like it looked, ill....I ordered Madras, this didn't even have the kick of a 'Normal' Bhoona.It was tasteless & i could taste salt & pepper in the sauce!!It had to go down the toilet.The rice was cold & the only positive thing to say is the Chapati was edible.I wont be back & if your thinking of ordering from here, go somewhere else to spend your cash.There is nothing authentic about this so called Indian restaurant.

My husband and I took my sister-in-law and her baby daughter to Taste of India for a Sunday night meal. Unsurprisingly it wasn't busy but there seemed to be a number of regulars dining there, based on their familiarity with the waiters. The food and beer we ordered were all excellent and the service was very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Taste of India to anyone looking for an unpretentious, good-value, classic local British-Indian restaurant.

Visited for a late dinner - the lamb chops and vegetables were excellent. Tapas style small portions or meal size large portions - your choice, all packed with a zesty sizzle and tongue-waking flavours. Definitely going back again and often. Great find for east / north London locals.

Veg thali - small portions, 'mushroom' dish absent. Chutney tray - not delivered.

It was tasty Indian food, however we ordered 2 lots of the '4 types of dip trays' and got only 1 pot of mint sauce and 1 pot of mango chutney :-( Other than that disappointment it was good.

Arrive at the Taste of India, 160 Essex Road after reading the local remarks, enjoyed the food, the cooking was excelent, the staff very helpful with choosing from the long menu. The food was delicious, tastes that reminded me of my trips to India in the past. Very friendly, prices were very reasonable and we will return when again in London.

I place an order every week, i highly recommend, the best indian i've every had.

Some of it tasted not so good, some of it tasted all right, not great. Delivery was really fast...which makes me think they just warmed up whatever they cooked in a microwave, had very upset stomach afterwards, which has never happened to me eating this kind of food. Overall not very nice at all.
