Tikka chasni had 6 tiny pieces of chicken, just a big tray of sauce. Garlic naan had no garlic, poppadoms were soggy and the daal was like water. We used to love this place, won't be back, plenty of competition in Dumfries to be serving food like this.

Just moved to Dumfries and my mum and I really like Indian takeaways, so we decided to give taste of bengal a go as the first takeaway to try since moving here. Ordered at 6.45pm and was told it’d be 45-60 mins delivery. Got an estimated delivery time of between 7.40-8pm. Got to 8.20pm and still no food. My mum decided to call the takeaway to see what was going on, only for the guy on the phone to be completely dismissive, claiming it normally always takes this long for deliveries!? Said it was with the driver now and wouldn’t be long. Got to 8.45pm and still no food! My mum rang again, only to have the phone be put down on her. She rang once again, asking where the food was, the guy tried to tell us it had already been delivered. Put us on hold to ring the driver. Food eventually arrived around 5 mins later, 2 hours after we had ordered. Food was cold and therefore the food wasn’t nice, and the service was just shocking. Will definitely not be ordering from here again.

Stayed a few days in Dumfries and got a delivery from here. For £23 we got cold food, chips that looked like Mcdonalds fries and onion bhajis you couldnt get a knife through. Korma had about 5 small bits of chicken that were so dry, madras wasn't much better. Never again, not worth the money.

Eat here regularly. The chicken pakora and sauces are fantastic. They do a meal for 2 offer that would probably do more than that in my opinion. Spent a good while trying indians to find somewhere that did a decent Indian main like chasne/jalfrezi. Have since been here multiple times as it’s miles better than anywhere else I’ve tried. Can’t fault it!

I arrived at allotted time and had over 25 minutes to hang about. We sat down to eat and yet again they had forgotten to put sauce in for starters 😡 sooo annoying. My husband said his jalfreizi was good but my Prawn Pathia was not. I wish they would go to a city restaurant and get some lessons in how to make naan bread.. not good. Unfortunately it’s still the best of a bad bunch so we very rarely have an Indian meal anymore although it’s by far our favourite meal choice.

Second visit to this takeaway. First visit involved an online order with a pick up time stated. On arrival at the correct time it became apparent that nothing had been prepared for my arrival. A full 45 minute wait then ensued. Today trip was equally disappointing. Entered and asked politely if I could order food. Member of staff muttered ‘45 minutes’ no explanation, apology or politeness. Left to check this time was in order with family. Having this confirmed and whilst continuing to wear a face mask I approached the counter. At this point the same member of staff gesticulated at me and ordered me to step further back. Whilst I understand her need for social distancing she displayed a complete lack of knowledge. More to the point if I had stepped back in what is a very small area I would have been even closer to another customer who was waiting for his food. Very very disappointing. Politeness is a two way thing!!!!!

Was told after already waiting 1hr for the meal we ordered via Just eat, that once we went to collect it that it would be a further 10-15 minutes. We then stood and waited another hour and a half before we eventually got our food. Definitely not worth the money as everything we got was greasy and not very good, all 3 naans we got were beyond burnt and for sure not worth the 2hr wait or all that money!

Had to wait extra time to collect because the kitchen was having trouble deciphering which order was which as “too many came in at the same time”. When we got our food the curry (which was meant to be a creamy coconut) was swimming in about 2cm of oil, resembled a water-like consistency and and was so bland it was barely touched. The naan bread was completely burnt and only barely edible. All in all a waste of money, won’t be back.

I struggled to find a decent restaurant in Dumfries on a Sunday evening, so I decided to have a takeaway instead. After reading feedback on here and on Just Eat, it looked like the Taste of Bengal would be a good choice. WRONG! There are so many bad points that it'll be quicker to bullet-point them:- 1 - The Mixed Kebab was served in a paper bag, and looked disgusting 2 - The Chicken Pakora consisted of a thin slice of chicken tikka in over-fried greasy batter 3 - The Onion Bhaji contained very little onion, or flavour, unless you enjoy the taste of old oil 4 - The menu offers "Chips," but what you actually get is a bag of cold, limp greasy barely edible french fries 5 - The Garlic Keema Naan was drier than the paper bag it came in, and the tasteless keema inside it had the appearance of sawdust 6 - The mint sauce was pink. I mean, REALLY?! 7 - The salad was sweating in a plastic bag, warm lettuce covered in water in a bag isn't ideal 8 - The Tandoori Special Starter actually contained decent Chicken Tikka and Lamb Tikka, but the bottom of the container contained a large pool of oil, rendering the meat barely edible This was a total waste of money, I ate very little of it, and I'm at a loss to understand the rave reviews on here. I've eaten a lot of Indian food, and this is the worst I've had, I'd avoid it at all costs!

No volveré pronto.
