Very nice curry, vert hot and ready in great time. Order was exactly what we had asked for and we also got some extra poppadoms. In my opinion the best curry in the area.

5*!! We were staying at centre parcs when we decided to find a restaurant off site for a friends birthday. We were the only ones there (how?!) the food was incredible, the best saag I've ever had. Food came quickly and was hot. Drinks incredibly cheap. Wish we weren't so far away! Absolutely would come again.

We had a takeaway tonight mine was chicken rogan and my husband had a chicken korma. Well we where very dirty as both of them had no taste and korma was very watery. We will not be ordering from them any time soon.

This review was due since August, visited this little gem on our visit to Waterside House campsite. Lovely owner (chef), made us feel welcomed. We throughly enjoyed the food, Chicken Achari, Tandoori platter and also got complimentary Chole chicken curry from the chef. Highly recommend the poppadums and pickle tray- very different to the ones which we usually get. The server who served us was little rude and seems like he is used to serving non asian customers. But hats off to the chef, a hidden gem in Penrith.

I absolutely love this place. Its a rare gem of amazing food, recommended by a friend and been hooked ever since. Definitely the best curry in town, best priced and absolutely lovely service from the guy in there. It is my go to place now, we have tried the other spots in town but hands down my favourite!

This spot is great for a casual date night out. Lovely atmosphere, great wine selection and an extremely tasty curry. The portion sizes are fantastic and we definitely felt a hole had been filled when we left. Thank you.

Have been coming to this Indian restaurant for years - fantastic food. We love the chicken tikka balti. We usually collect the food as a takeaway and it’s always freshly made and piping hot. Order in plenty of time at the weekend as they get quite busy. Onion bhajis and naan bread are also great. Def recommend.

Greatly understaffed. The place was full but there was just one single person out front, doing all the serving, all the drinks and dealing with all the customer requests. That said, he was very quick and efficient as well as very polite and friendly. The food seemed decent and was very nicely different, though the spice in my dish became really overwhelming and I couldn't finish it. It wasn't too hot, my mouth just became completely fed up with the taste. Still, it was OK. Next day, however, I was really not well. I have eaten a huge variety of curries over the last forty years, but this is the first time I have ever been unwell after one. My wife was also rather ill the next morning, so I don't think this was a coincidence; I believe there was something not right with our food. Not going to be going back there.

Taste of Bengal always serves the best food. It's all amazing high quality. The staff are super friendly and kind. It's the first place I recommend to everyone in Penrith. Tonight was no exception, perfect Special Thawa and yummy naan.

Usually use this place when we go to centre parcs and it's usually great... However the place had a bit of an off smell when I arrived to collect my order, poppadoms tasted like burnt oil. Briyani wasn't the best, one mouthful would be spicy the next would be bland so not very well mixed. Curries were nice, nanna were average. Hopefully just a 1 off.

Very relaxed service meaning we were waiting some time to be served, get the bill, etc. The passanda and korma were both watery due to the sauce having split. Not much taste (you can have taste without needing heat). The starters were OK but nothing special (samosa and onion bhaji). The After 8 at the end was a nice touch and the waiter friendly and helpful.

Possibly the worst desi restaurant I have every eaten at, whatever you do avoid the ‘garlic prawns’ at all costs. Do not trust these reviews as they don’t have many desi restaurants in Lake District so for some reason think this is of acceptable quality

Food was good, however the service is extremely poor. Pointing the table with the finger like a child, throwing cutlery on the table instead of putting it nicely for each person, servong dishes from behind instead of side of the table... And many more. There is loads to improve for the service.

Food always very good and staff are friendly each and every time we get a take away from Taste of Bengal, can't fault.

One of our curries was ok, the other had a funny taste to it, naan was ok. I complained about a curry and the waiter literally said “nothing I can do about it” and told me the total bill amount. I disputed and he said we can take the curry we didn’t like home with us. I then said I’d leave a bad review and he said “we’ve been here 26 years. Go write your review”. Someone needs to teach these guys what customer service is and to listen and stop being so dismissive. Whether you’re amazing or awful, you need to be able to take customer feedback and treat customers with respect.

Yet another superb takeaway from the Taste of Bengal. Ready on time, friendly staff, in person and on the phone. Not one complaint, we will be back!
