Tarboush in Charnwood

Picked up a couple of wraps on the go as takeaway, by the time I got home the paper containing them was soaked in oil, especially the meat shawarma and they weren’t wrapped properly, so had to be taken out the wrappers. Flavour was fine but the amount of oil and the way they were wrapped was disappointing.

Great tasting food. Do not miss out in Lboro. The new shwarma wrap addition is excellent.

Oh darling, where do I begin? The charming maître d' at this establishment must have taken one look at our fabulous foursome and thought, "Ah, yes, the veggie mezze for these lean, mean, green-eating machines will do!" At a mere £25 per cranium, we expected a cornucopia of culinary delights to descend upon us. Instead, we were graced with an array of starters so petite, they could have been served in a dollhouse! And then, the pièce de résistance: a trifecta of plates that might satisfy a pair of lovesick sparrows on a diet, but hardly a gang of ravenous humans. I do believe if we had taken a wild plunge into the menu with our £100, we would've been swimming in a sea of sumptuous selections. Alas, the proprietor must envision us as jesters in his court of gastronomic gullibility! A rollicking good time was had by all... our wallets.

So glad we came here for lunch, a little oasis of calm on a busy Saturday. The chicken shawarma wrap and falafel were really good. Waitress and waiter were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again!

Lovely staff, incredible food and great performers to entertain you whilst you eat - what more could you want. We had the mezze which were they were able to do both vegetarian and gluten free so they’re very accommodating with allergies too.

Really nice and relaxing vibe, banging shisha which haidar the waiter made for us with a big friendly smile on his face! Made us laugh alot! recommended us some incredible Turkish and Egyptian tea, Ended up having a chicken shawarma wrap which was incredible also let us smoke the shisha on the front so we could people watch on the street, 10/10 chill Friday night

Called in on a whim and were greeted in a friendly and warm manner. Despite not having a reseveration we were promptly seated. Nice feeling inside, and decorated as you might expect. The food we ordered was nice, and reasonably priced. The staff who greeted us and waited on us were all very friendly. The menu felt like a menu you'd expect to see in Gordan Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (not meant in a bad way), where its just perhaps a bit too long, where he then simplies it, reduces it down, and focuses on several really good dishes rather than lots of variety. I think that would work here, as most of the dishes are typically either chicken or pork, its not entirely obvious (to my uneducated self) what the real differences were. The only other criticism I would have were the table clothes. There were there, and they look really nice, but they had all been covered with a clear piece of plastic to protect the material/keep it clean, and make it easy to clean down. I fully understand the mentality of this, and the convenience for the restaurant, but it doesn't look that great. In short, nice food, reasonably priced, and I would visit again.

My family and I went here after my sisters graduation and it was the perfect end to the evening. Alice was very helpful and patient with my family, she offered to take a picture for us and was very attentive throughout the meal. The food was very nice and the atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing. I could not have asked for better customer service!

What a little gem of a place that has apparently been there for much longer than either of us knew.We came across it completely by accident and we were not disappointed. Amazing food and comfortable clean surroundings. Really friendly staff in kitchen and front of house. Our server has only been there a month and her passion for her job was lovely. Really fresh and tasty food and we will definitely be back soon ( once we stop being full)!

We went for our Xmas meal from work and have got to say the food was delicious, absolutely amazing staff and service too, it was a Friday night so we got some in-house entertainment too! Wafa and her husband have established an amazing restaurant here, x

A nice option for a dinner with friends. The place allows you to talk with each other with no loud noise, smooth ethnic music, generally good food and attentive service.

Ordered a lamb platter which was usually £12+ but was down to £10.95 as an offer so thought give it a try. When it arrived it was not a platter, very small portion of lamb and small portion of fries. The whole thing was very cold and incredibly disappointing:( my wife had a wrap which was also stone cold. None of it was worth the money and won't be ordering again unfortunately.

Today I ordered two falafel wraps and 1 chicken wrap from here. I specifically called them after placing an order and told the receptionist PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY ADD SOME SAUCES TO ALL THE THREE WRAPS. She happily replied that SURE. I WILL LET THE KITCHEN KNOW. Yet after receiving the order me and my friends were hoping to get good and not so dry wraps. Unfortunately, they were still TOO DRY. We couldn’t finish even half of our wraps because they were difficult to gulp down our throat because of being so dry. I am really disappointed FOR NOT GETTING THE WRAPS AS EXPECTED EVEN AFTER CALLING TARBOUSH IMMEDIATELY AFTER PLACING AN ONLINE ORDER TO MAKE SURE THEY MAKE OUR WRAPS A BIT SAUCY AND NOT DRY.

A friend and I were staying at the Premier Inn in Loughborough and looked for an interesting, ideally independent, restaurant within easy walking distance. We struck lucky with Tarboush! We had a very warm welcome, attentive but not fussy service and fantastic meze dishes. We chose 6 different dishes and a serving of flatbread and it was quite enough for us (apart from the separate "dessert" stomach that had room for rose water rice pudding....mmm!) Everything very flavoursome and in generous portions. Our serving staff were all delightful, especially Louis and Haida, and the proprietor was charming. All the tables were busy on this Friday night and I'm not surprised. Good value and good fun - highly recommended

Food definitely overpriced. The portion for £10 for 4 little slices of chicken and dry as popadom naan bread is way too much. Can’t tell about the taste of food because can’t even taste such mini portion. Just funny…

This restaurant has an amazing fresh positive vibe. They serve some super delicious exotic middle Eastern dishes. I really loved the atmosphere, the food and the great service. I am really looking forward to my next trip.

We booked this place as it had really good Google reviews but no idea how. We were so disappointed with the whole meal. The drinks were awful. £7.95 for a mojito which tasted nothing like one, it was basically a couple of blocks of ice, white rum with some lime cordial! My husband ordered a large beer for £5.95 and it was a multipack can! I then ordered a sangria which was red wine and fresh orange juice, I sent this back as it was disgusting and they did take it off the bill. We waited 50 minutes for our main course which when it arrived we could have got the same thing from a local kebab shop for half the price and it was very dry. The only positive from the meal was the guy that served us, was extremely polite and friendly and the hummus starter was nice. Wouldn’t return or recommend.

Welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The food was fresh, tasty and all round gert lush. Will most definitely be returning for a Saturday busy service with all the family in tow. Cheers folks - that food put a smile on my face 🙂

Amazingly tasty, delicious food. It was my first meal after arriving in Loughborough and I absolutely enjoyed and ate to my fill. There is enough sitting space. The food is fresh, healthy, and affordable!!!!!!!

Good food but a shame that the servings are tiny for the price you pay and extremely long wait for the food to arrive. The venue feels also a little run down. Don't get me wrong, the food was amazing and probably one of the best seasoned mezze dishes that I've ever had. I do feel a little bit cheated with the portions. The whole meal also lasted almost 3hrs because they took too long to serve each dish. Possibly a tactic to make us feel full.

Ordered Chicken Shawarma wrap and Bbq chicken platter, only to get some chicken shawarma and salad on the side with a lot of french fries instead of the wrap. Wrong item. And secondly a £12 bbq chicken platter with just four small pieces of kebab with just salad and a lot of french fries. Weird dish, never had a Turkish platter with more french fries than Turkish sides. No hummus the least. Their food seems to be inconsistent with quantity and presentation, and far from authentic Turkish food.

Have been to the Tarboush several times over the the years when visiting Loughborough normally for lunch and have the vegan lunchtime platters which are delicious. During the week on this visit I picked up a Falafel wrap from the express counter which was carefully prepared in front of me and very tasty. On Saturday night I decided to eat in and unfortunately had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. I was on my own seated in the middle of the tent area and was unaware that a belly dancer was about to arrive, the staff no doubt were aware and should not have seated a single person in this position. She arrived at the same time as my food and danced right by my table and I had very loud music blearing out right behind me as I was trying to eat. In addition the veg BBQ was nowhere as nice as the lunch time platters (and more expensive) dry vegetables (a lot of onion), limp salad, dry bland stew and dry rice - no sauce. A very poor vegan meal - you can do better than that at lunchtime so why not in the evening?

Tasty lamb tagine. Overall good food - but the ambiance is what really makes it. The large covered outside area with translucent ceiling is great.

We arrived looking for beverages and shisha. We were given a very warm welcome, the atmosphere was fantastic and despite being busy we were so well attended to. Shisha and drinks were excellent. The staff were chatty and fun. Loved it, we will definitely be back!

We loved it here! Came by for a date night when we were in town for a wedding, it was great food and a great staff so we came back with more friends a few days later. We especially loved the mezze tasting menu and Judy took AMAZING care of us. Highly recommended.

Second visit yesterday and we had Mezzeh for 6 people. Tons of great food and a lovely belly dancer who had people up dancing with her, which really added to the atmosphere. It felt timeless, like it could be 8pm or 2am. Really enjoyed it and I think my 88 year old dad enjoyed the experience 😂

Nice casual atmosphere and good food. We were there with a group, enjoyed the food, and thought the bill was quite reasonable.

Great customer service with Judie. Food was great, really nice vibe and left very full! We got the sharing platter and it was brilliant.

As we were a large group the owner decided on the night that he would offer us a buffet for £25.00 per head and include meat, vegetarian and vegan and eat as much as we wanted. We reluctantly agreed and it was a BIG mistake. Food was cold, not enough and they would not serve more. No vegan food. Not visiting this place again.

The chicken shawarma is excellent. The owner and workers are very nice and welcoming. An outstsnding Syrian restuarant located at the heart of Loughborough.

Went here for a anniversary dinner with the wife and OMG What a hidden Gem, the food was amazing staff were amazing and super helpful The décor inside makes you feel like your dining in there culture loved it Very reasonable prices and quality of food was exceptional It's all open kitchen with glass so you can see the food being cooked I cannot wait to come back

Tarboush Express is finally open! I tried it today on their second day, and I am soooo pleased with the experience. I had an amazing bite of Chicken Shawarma that took me on a trip to the Levant, and I then had a Lamb Shawarma meal which was as amazing! There was also another person expressing how he felt the flavour was even better than the most famous meat Shawarma in the middle of Damascus Centre! I had to end my meal with a cheese Knefeh (Kunefe) which is a traditional dessert and this was also very tasty with a pot of Turkish tea that they offered me with a hint of Mint inside it, making it a mix between a tea from Turkey and a Morrocan tea! I loved it... and I strongly recommend everyone to have such experience. 👍 👌

It's big, it feels authentic, it has some fair tasting wines to match the middle eastern cuisine. The small cold dishes are good, the larger mains sometimes don't have any depth of flavour. Seasoning may be the issue. White wine warm. Bottle opened before it came to the table A BIG NO NO. challenged by server when said tonic was actually lime and soda but we were right! They need to sharpen up their act.

We visited last night with a large party of 16, half veg/vegan, half meat. We had the mixed meze. Have to say whilst the quality was pretty good the amount of food we received was minimal. I was waiting for the main courses to come out....but there weren't any....we all went home fairly hungry. For a £450 bill I expected better.

Went for lunch and thought the food was nice, different and varied. There is a large selection of vegetarian and vegan options, which was important for my daughter. However, portions are on the small size, prices a tad high and service slow considering it was not busy. But, overall I liked the place.

I was craving hummus and found good reviews for this syrian restaurant. We ordered hummus, baba Ghanoug, spicy potato, fattoush, shawarma wrap and tajin. The mezzas were delicious and I loved their fattoush. The mains were also nice with authentic garlic mayo. I will definitely go again but may stick to the mezze next time. I forgot to take a picture of the shawarma, but it was tasty. Different then what I usually eat but the closest to Jordan The service and seating were also nice The downside for me was the cola which tasted more like water and is not worth 2.5£ Also, I hate that they make you pay for bread, especially since it is not freshly baked. I am used to bread being serves with mezze without having to pay 1.2£ per pitta bread. Overall, our total was 53 for all the mentioned above

A friend and I visited Tarboush for the first time today, we happened to arrive just as they were opening for the evening and all staff were very welcoming and friendly. Any questions we had regarding the menu were answered politely without hesitation. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious and nicely presented.

Went here with a friend and had a lovely time. It was quiet as we went early, the service was nice and fast. Grill is really nice, and it was really nice to be able to see the grill/ barbeque. Would definitely to go back for the tar and nicotine free shisha!

Disappointing! The decor was very authentic, but thats about it! When we arrived they couldn't find our booking on the system even though I had booked 2 weeks before because it was a special occasion. So they scrambled a table together at the back of the restaurant, by the toilet. The staff sat on the next table eating in-between getting up to serve us. The food was bland, I ordered the Moroccan Tagine which tasted nothing like a real Tagine should! The only good thing about the meal was the mint lemonade, but because we were sat beside the food processor every time someone in the resturant ordered one, it drowned out our conversation! We won't be returning...

First time in this restaurant but certainly won’t be the last. We were in Loughborough visiting our daughter and decided to try here for dinner for the three of us (to be honest my wife and daughter had been before but highly recommended it so it was my first time). The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and the service from Amelia was perfect, just the right amount of attention paid. I will certainly be back and would recommend anyone in the area to try it.

Wonderful to say the least. At first glance, you feel at home, the smell of the place takes you back to your homeland. I've tried many restaurants in the UK and Tarboush is almost the best. The restaurant staff are wonderful and hospitable. It was a more than excellent experience and it is worth repeating it more than once

Went for a meal on 1/4/23 and I cannot fault this place from the moment we walked in to the moment we left it was just fantastic. From friendly staff to fantastic food and brilliant entertainment. I would highly recommend for your next meal out.

Lovely atmosphere and excellent service the whole evening. The food was mostly very nice, my partner particular enjoyed the seabass and the aubergine mezzes were delicious. The drinks were also great and there's a lot of choice for soft drinks which I liked. However, the portions, considering the prices, are too small. I think a better side salad should be served with the mains and slightly bigger mezze portions. We weren't keen on the pitta unfortunately, as it was a bit thin and tough and we think that for anything that definitely needs pitta, it should automatically be included e.g. the hummus and baba ghanoush. Adding a halloumi main would also be great as another vegetarian option! Would probably go here again though!

Came here last night for the first time and was blown away by how good the food was. I’m vegan and the menu was so clearly labelled with so many options. Great service and a really nice atmosphere. Will definitely be coming again!

This is a lovely Turkish restaurant in the heart of Loughborough. The decor really immerses you into the culture of Turkey and the presentation of dishes, such as the Tagine, in clay pots and ceramics really added to the experience. Overall the food was good. The peri chips were amazing! The spices packed them with flavour and they were so crispy yet soft in the centre. The mixed grill was made up of succulent meats which we were able to watch cook before our eyes in the exposed kitchen. It was flavourful and generously portioned. The lamb Tagine was a little disappointing, I found it fairly dry and lacking in those deep punchy flavours one would expect from such an iconic Turkish dish. It just didn’t live up to the standards of the rest of the meal. Overall we enjoyed our evening here, the staff were friendly and we would definitely like to return.

Main course is very bad ,the meats very chewy and the portions too small for the price Ayran drinks taste like water , we paid £257 for the table, we not going back ever again.

Great place to go, food was delicious and service was excellent. You also get to see them doing the barbecue which is fun to look at. If I had any complaints it would be that it's a very costly setting so you're quite close to other people dining.

I had the best experience at this amazing restaurant! The staff are super friendly, including the manager and kitchen staff! The food was so delicious and filling, we finished it off with kunafah and it was the BEST kunafah I have ever had!! Definitely recommend this amazing restaurant, the vibe inside also is so cosy and welcoming. Will be back again soon !

Food and service was amazing, unfortunately heating was broke and wasn't told until we asked if could have the heater on. Only 2 small radiators for whole restaurant so was slightly uncomfortable. Other than that, had a brilliant time and would definitely go again

I went to the restaurant with my partner on a Saturday evening. We booked it through their website a few hours before we went. The restaurant got busy around 7pm. The place is well decorated and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside. At some point throughout the evening, a beautiful entertainer came to show us some belly dancing. It was exciting and fun to watch. The service was flawless. They were very attentive and rapid to respond to anything we needed. I don't recall many places that I was so well served around the area. And finally the food... They have so many vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free options that people with dietary restrictions don't need to worry. Everything we ordered was delicious, with this different flavour that gets to your senses. We will come back soon, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
