This is such a great place to go to.I highly recommend it.They have a cat robot which gives you the food which is so cute and amazing.The staff is so lovely and polite.The lighting and interior is beautiful.The food is so nice and they will let you take it home In a small box if you would like to eat it at home.The cat even sings happy birthday.The food is a very good price. I do truly love this place I highly recommend.

We have been a customer for many years with takeaways and occasional visit. Food quality seems to be hit and miss. Normally very good but last dining experience was not so great. All fried items had a heavy oil taste as if the oil should have been changed. Rest of the food was great. The state of the toilets and sticky floors everywhere lets the place down. It needs a good clean or professional cleaning company to clean it regularly. Staff were great.

Nice restaurant and food although the robot is far more friendlier than the staff who always look miserable verging on rude.

Good food, good service - glad we went early as the Karaoke was getting very loud - even though they tried to keep door shut but when open you couldn't hear your friends speak.

Celebrated 21st birthday with a wonderful dinner. Hot Starters were my favourite ! Loved Bella robot singing happy birthday and bringing special birthday pudding! All staff attentive warm and helpful 😀

Decent Chinese in Basingstoke. Food is good and the restaurant is large enough to host a party incl breakout room if needed for any events.

Didn’t even stay to eat, floors in the toilets that greasy that my son had an accident, staff informed yet no cleaning carried out and just a ‘wet floor’ sign put down. Based on the state of the facilities I wouldn’t trust the cleanliness of the kitchen. Absolute joke of an establishment.

Well what a nice little find on an evening out with friends last night. We had the all you can eat and it was very good. Choose your dishes and they get cooked fresh and delivered to your table by a little robot. The manage/owner was a very nice guy who came over for a chat.

Never have I been spoken to in such a rude way as I was in this restaurant. We were missing a dish for my son so I politely asked one of the men ‘excuse me’ he completely ignored me, I then said it again and he just turned around and shook his finger at me, I looked at him as if to say ??? And he shouted at me ‘no busy’ and flicked his hand at me. I was so upset and angry that I didn’t/couldn’t eat a single bite of my meal. Will NEVER go here again

We were in the area and decided to try this place. The place was quiet and were shown to a table straight away. I had the sweet and sour chicken which was ok some of the chicken was over cooked as it was dry and hard. The other food we ordered was good. Overall the location is good, the food is ok, the place seemed clean. The staff were friendly. Nice place to try if you are in the town centre

I rarely leave negative reviews and give businesses the benefit of the doubt but the food I collected from Tangs on Friday 29th December was shockingly bad! To be fair, the crispy duck my partner had was quite reasonable but the sweet and sour chicken balls I ordered were UTTERLY shocking! There is NO WAY that they had just been cooked...the chicken inside was virtually solid and dried out like it had been sitting in a fridge for 3 or 4 days. Out of the 9/10 pieces I found 3 that weren't too nasty but chucked the rest out. Even the cat, who found one on my plate in the kitchen, couldn't stomach it and discarded it on the kitchen floor. The sweet and sour sauce was fine. Often the only way that management discover that their kitchens are letting them down is for someone to complain and, as Brits we rarely do this, so now is the time to review your kitchen procedures before your reputation is harmed further. Your "Scores on the Doors" visit must be pending so time for action, guys!!!!

Had a lovely all you can eat meal here for our Christmas eve lunch. Loved it, the service and staff were great, the kids loved the serving robot, and the food was lovely. Don't need to eat for a few weeks now 😬 would definitely go again.

I'd not been to Tang for several years. When a nearby event finished, our group of four remembered this restaurant and decided it was time to return. The restaurant is a bit of a Tardis. You descend stairs as you enter, turn the corner and bam, you are facing a very large and smart restaurant. It always used to be smart, now it seems extra smart. We were greeted politely and then guided to our table. Prawn crackers were already on the table along with some sauce. What a nice touch. My immediate impression was how charming and attentive the staff were. Everything was so genuine and friendly, when we arrived, during the meal and when we left. We chose fixed menu P. In the past, the main focus of the restaurant was a large help-yourself buffet. Buffet is still offered once a week, I forget when, but we experienced seated dining with service at the table. The food was excellent and staff checked that we were happy with how things are going. Our drinks and tea were regularly topped up without fuss. Great food and great staff made for a very happy evening. We did have one surprise. It was a big surprise. I will not mention it here so you too can have a surprise when your food is brought to the table. You can look forward to it. The food portions were very generous but as the quality was so good we had to try to finish everything and then climb the stairs as we left. It was well worth it. The management clearly has worked very hard to keep the Tang operating at the highest quality of service and food and I can commend them on a job very well done. I will be back sooner rather than later.

Restaurant: It was empty so the atmosphere was non-existent. Food was good - roast pork was the highlight. Service was amusing - they use a robot. Takeaway: Best Chinese in Basingstoke (of the ones we've tried). Shredded smoked chicken is superb.

Our new go-to place to celebrate, the food and service are both amazing. The set menus provide more than enough food for 4 people and the staff are very friendly. Highly Recommend!

Excellent! we were a table for 4 people. Superb service and the food was very tasty, hot and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. The robot was a delight and even came out singing Happy Birthday to myself, and carried a beautiful ice cream with a candle. Well done Tang - we will be back soon ! Thank you

I went here yesterday, the atmosphere was nice, the food was really good, and i really liked the staff there, very cheerful, i actually was so happy with the lady who looked after us, that i waited to thank her! The robot service was soooo sooooo amazing, already planning to being guests here!! Well done guys!

This was a special meal that celebrated the eve of our 50th Anniversary. We found it on TripAdvisor and went for their Fish Set Menu which included a lobster. All courses were superb, with generous portions and we were given a container for what we couldn't finish (that became lunch on Sunday). We both decided that it would be worth another visit with all the dishes being served looking enticing. Thank you Tang for starting our celebrations so well

Highly recommended. We enjoyed salt and pepper chicken, wontons, pancake rolls, satay chicken, crispy duck, stir fried vegetables. The set meals are so filling and great value for money. The staff here were attentive and friendly. The 'robot' delivery service is great fun too.

We visited on Sunday evening. We had the Sunday banquet £18.80 per person. We ordered our drinks but they did not arrive. We asked for them again but they did not actually arrive until we were halfway through the starter combination. Then we were told we would have to wait for the main meals. Not sure what the problem was. The food was ok but was not as hot as I expected it to be. A robot brought our food to be served so that was interesting to watch. It also played Happy Birthday. This restaurant is downstairs so may not be suitable for disabled guests. There was a 10% service charge.

We were in the area and decided to get something to eat from here. The place was quiet when we arrived but there were a few more tables filled while we were there. We ordered food and drinks, which the food was brought out by a robot which was something never really seen in the UK before. I had the sweet & sour chicken and we also had beef noodles, also some rice which were good. Overall the staff were friendly, the food was good. This place is a good place to eat.

I have been here many times on business and the food and service (sometimes robots) has been first class. Will always be back here

The food is 100% just microwave meals just heated up. The special fried rice was a microwave ready meal without a doubt, as was all the food. Really thin sauces like it came from a packet. We had a set menu and I honestly think it was criminal to charge us for reheated frozen food. Just go to Tesco and save the money

Had a great night at Tang 8th April, we were in the smaller room, there was 18 of us, a squeeze but thar was our fault but it worked. Food really good and actually too much! Staff were great, really helpful and friendly. Will definitely return, this was our first time.

Sorry to say we did not enjoy was tasteless Seaweed had strange taste. Chicken and cashew was slimy and watery and looked like had mixed frozen veg and no taste. The sweet and sour chicken was tough. We ended up throwing it away

This was my first visit here and I was absolutely appalled. The waiter/ waitresses service was absolutely unbelievable, rude and even leaning over my food. Food order was all messed up and food was gone cold time we got to eat it.

If I could rate 0 I would, I looked past the bad reviews as seemed great, I have been being sick for 48 hours, had to take 2 days of work. Been to the doctors and they said it’s definitely food poisoning, terrible place and on top service was not good.

The food was really good, much better than I was expecting for a buffet. The selection available and quality were great. A really nice meal. The robot waiter was a quirky bit of fun much enjoyed by my granddaughter.

Visiting the area and fancied a Chinese Takeaway, Tangs had good reviews so I thought I'd check it out. Superb, very friendly and great food, I had the duck pancake rolls there freshly made and the best I've ever had, duck in plum sauce and egg fried rice. Brilliant I'll be back 👍

Making Chinese Food Great Again

Excellent service so giving two stars, but unfortunately this "Chinese" food is about as authentic as Latvian feta. Meat was dry and most likely reheated, starters are clearly bought in pre-made. Some of the dishes were tasty, but heavily westernised and not worth the money.

Had a party here party menu was varied and good value. Service was excellent. Highly recommended 👌

A great and splendid place to savour Chinese dishes of delicious and scented traditional food. Warm with hospitality and comfy environment. Nice to have friends or family gathering here. The food is of great value for money. Would come for another time.

We celebrated our daughters 21st Birthday, in one of the karaoke rooms! The food was lovely and the set menu was extremely good value for money. The staff were very attentive and efficient, they looked after us so well. Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough, the karaoke was so much fun!!

The staff are lovely and happy. Really enjoyed our food - especially it's arrival by Robot! It.. blew...my...mind I loved it. I hope it hoovers as it goes- or you are missing a trick 😁 I dropped a star as it was a little too cold for me and going to the toilets was a little odd. Also, not sure if their is wheelchair access. Steps at the front and back - maybe worth a call before hand to see if they can accommodate. I couldn't see anything obvious.

Waited 2 hours and food cold . Chips undercooked and cold , chicken balls soggy . The delivery driver said he no change for us. Ended up not taking it as 50pounds for cold undercooked food is not on. Will go elsewhere now

Very unique buffet system, you order as group with choices and they bring in large plate for everyone to share and order as much as u want. Fair price for less choices than other buffet. Good place for family and friends to enjoy unique buffet experience.

Prawn balls tasted very strange as did the sauce with it. Prawn toast and seaweed both had an ‘off’ taste. Reheating and not cooking fresh resulted in me having food poisoning.

Extremely expensive £18.90 pp, on top of that they will add 10% service charge??? Table service was quite daring. Lady serving us was quite bad mood and looks like was a favour to take plates brought from kitchen by Emma the Robot. The only funny experience was food being delivery by happy Emma bot. Food was standard, have been there before and food was outstanding. Will notbe back again purely because 10% service charge and price on buffet.

The service and the food were awesome! It is not a traditional buffet on Sunday evenings between 6pm & 9pm. The buffet differs in the sense that you can actually order everything from a menu and they will serve you as much as you can eat, as often as you want. This is a great place to eat! Their robot which brings the food to the table was a great hit with our kids.

Ordered a takeaway for the first time from here. The satay was okay, but chicken appeared undercooked it with a weird texture. Good size portion though. Unfortunately the let down was that the gluten free order arrived cooked with normal flour. They were kind enough to replace it but the chicken was raw and inedible unfortunately. Tried cooking it through but whilst it cooked through the texture was still really chewy. Had to order a second order from our usual Chinese so the gluten free person had something to eat.

There was a pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant, and the robot navigating the Yankees to deliver food was fun. The food, itself, was tasty.

Honestly it's meh at best, but perhaps it was what I ordered? I had the roast pork fried rice, which was decent but nothing special. And the salt and pepper chilli squid, which was not good at all, the batter was so thick and the squid was so chewy, that it was actually better to separate the two so that I can actually chew through it. These two are my usual order no matter which Chinese restaurant, so I'm not satisfied with these at this restaurant. Otherwise, the staff at the restaurant were friendly and the environment seemed nice.

Even though the place was busy, they were able to seat us. Food is good and plentiful, so much so you get containers to take leftovers home. Be aware, there is a 15% surcharge on the bills. I would rather have a choice on the reward I give but am happy to give 15% here.

Tang used to be a favourite, one of the best Chinese restaurants. Sadly things are going downhill here now. Over several orders I now see a pattern of things getting worse and worse, from missed items on orders to general lower and lower quality of food. Things are often dry, or soggy, cold and stale. Even the prawn crackers were stale on the last order. Seems that we’re done with tang, such a shame. I hope the new owners will read this and change things back.

Very friendly service, arrived quickly and piping hot. Hoots admit it’s the best Chinese or any takeaway I’ve ever had, food was well cooked, well prepared, tasty too. Crispy food was crispy when it got here, and the chips were better than any other takeaway I’ve had since a place I got some in Buxton year ago. Absolutely wonderful. Everyone loved it, except for the taste and texture of the carrots in the Chicken in Szechuan sauce. The ribs were especially tasty and so tender.

Met an old colleague and a lovely meal here. All courses were tasty and served by friendly staff.

Excellent value money. Ordered from here for the office, most dishes were ready except Matthew the chicken chow mein. Excellent customer service especially from Brian our delivery driver.

I had pork fried rice, mussels in black bean sauce, beef in green peppers and all the dishes were quite good. I appreciate the attentiveness of the chef in the order preparation as I requested all my dishes to be non-sweet/tangy and all the dishes were right on track with my expectation. Quantity was quite generous. Packaging and timeliness was also good. Only alarming thing that I noticed was their generosity in oil portion in the food(would be good if this is reduced a bit)

Recently moved to the area and was delighted to find out my local Chinese is fantastic. Ordered a takeaway for collection, picked out a few firm favourites and collected in only 20 minutes. Staff were really friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. Food was fantastic. Really delicious, full of flavour, chicken was succulent, and the spring rolls were some of the best I’ve had. Overall a really great takeaway choice. Might even go for a full meal with family sometime soon! Thank you to the staff
