Tandoori Haven in Aberdeenshire

Definitely would not recommend this place at all. I ordered a chicken tikka masala and it came as a korma with food coloring in it to make it look like a tika. Also found hair in my food and they tried to tell me it was part of a vegetable. Definitely was not a vegetable. This food made me feel sick and will definitely not be going back.

Absolutely love everything about Tandoori Haven. Food is delicious and I highly recommend the haven special. Staff are so friendly and very patient and accommodating to families with young children. The owner is also a very friendly and helpful man who truly seems to care about the Stonehaven community.

We have been visiting the Tandoori for many years and also ordered takeaways if we couldnt manage in. On our last visit, the food was as tasty as usual and freshly cooked. They cater for vegetarians too - not all Indian restaurants do. The manager remembered our dinks and what we eat. Impressive! My husband used to eat a different curry, but changed it on the recommendation of the manager and it is now hubbys new favourite! In the past we have had friends up from Dundee to eat here and they loved it too. We will be back again when the need for curry overtakes hubby again!

Great service from a welcoming and friendly staff. The King Prawn Chucka was excellent, and really nice Naan Bread. Always get a welcoming and personal service here, nothing seems to be too much trouble for this place. Always worth a visit

I have been here several times and have written several reviews. The food is delicious and can't be faulted. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The music is unnecessary and annoying. The waiter marching back and forth is really off-putting and one feels rushed to finish their meal asap. I would definitely recommend the restaurant for the food, but nothing else.

This was our first visit and definitely not our last! The decor is tasteful, the place is spotless, and the staff are attentive and helpful. We shared a fish pakora to start, light and tasty, with a rocket side salad instead of the usual limp garnish. The mains were equally flavoursome, the chicken damask was sweet and slightly spicy with lentils and pineapple and the vegetable rice was delicious too. The chicken chilli balti was hot and spicy too. Overall, the attention to detail, the lovely cutlery and wine glasses, all add to the experience. A reasonably priced and very tasty meal.

The title doesn't do it justice. My nan was cold, stodgy, and, to be honest, put in the bin. The chicken was drier than a witches (you know what I mean). The sauce was tasty, and the rice was nice. Not what I expected, or hoped for.

We visited this Restaurant for a Takeaway. We were very disappointed in the food. I ordered a Chickem tikka masala mostly watery sauce with a few pieces of chicken. My partner had a Lamb dish extremely hot too much chilli not much flavour. We ordered a peshwari naan the texture was all spongy not what it should be. We paid £30 for this. We went with the reviews as we are not fro the area just staying overnight. Total waste of money. Disappointed to say the least.

Strolled past on a cold windy night , decided to dine in after reading the menu. My Nehari Lamb was amazing , wonderful sauce, lightly spiced and not too hot, lamb so tender. Served with spiced potatoes and spinach and garlic naan, perfect. Very reasonably priced and excellent service.

Absolutely unacceptable the waiters had about as much personality as a gnat I can cook a better curry at home and save the£60 it cost for a rubbish meal in that place never going there again.

The best Indian in Stonehaven, hands down! We’ve had few takeaways from here in recent months and the food has been outstanding! The food is always piping hot and just delicious. I can recommend the Ranga Balti and the Garlic King Prawns. The service has always been very friendly and lovely. We are looking forward to coming back!

Decided to have a treat for me & hubby on sat 12th dec. Omg it was amazing. Food was brilliant & plenty of it. Delivery didnt take too long 40mins as quoted. Definately be ordering again.

Delivers execellent quality, piping hot delicious food, exactly at the agreed time. A HIGHLIGHT of our locked down week! The King Prawn Chuka is very good, lots of BIG prawns and scrumptiously spiced. Looking forward to actually visiting the Restraunt again.

My wife and I visit two or three times a year. Even though she's a carnivore, at her insistence we always order the excellent Vegetable Garden set meal for two. The staff are unfailingly courteous and effiicient.

Heard good things about this place so thought we would give it a go. Food was ok at best. Reminded me of one of those ASDA Indian meal deals. Service was painfully slow. Extras were added to the bill that we didn’t order and we had to argue about to take off. The restaurant itself is pretty run down. Cellotape covering up parts of the wallpaper that was peeling off about our table. Overall pretty disappointing.

We were encouraged to eat here with alot of good reviews, but, on hindsight it was a mistake. We opted for a la carte, spicy garlic king prawns & a mixed pakora (both served on little saucers, no sauce made with the prawns & they were not king prawns) lamb dansak made with pineapples & chicken tikka bhuna with keema naan & rice, all small portions, all meat cut up small. Lastly, woke up in the middle of the night with searing stomach pains, say no more .. would not recommend.

I visited this restaurant recently with a friend. What a great evening. The food was absolutely delicious. It was also made specifically to my taste and the chef got it spot on. I find this style of Indian cuisine really tasty and it’s obvious it’s all freshly made. Service was prompt and the staff were very friendly, engaging and courteous. We finished the meal with a complimentary drink, a lovely gesture from the staff. Definitely be back. The best.

As well as the always excellent food, the friendly staff made an extra effort to ensure that we had a great night. Finishing off with a rose for the ladies!

We ate here with a large group of friends on New Years Day while visiting Stonehaven. I must admit we wouldn't normally go to another Tandoori House as we have a very good one where we live and never imagine anywhere else could be as good. I must eat my words as the food here was absolutely amazing! All the starters were authentic and so good followed by the mains that were delicious. Large portions so be hungry if you visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant and the staff were most accommodating.

Visited as party of four for Hogmanay meal and, although they seemed to have lost our booking, we were promptly given a table with no fuss and this set the tone for the excellent service we received. The meal was excellent and no complaints from any of our party. Will certainly return when in Stonehaven again.

Xmas eve 2019. Ordered family take away - big mistake. The wife and daughter struggled with guy understanding their order, he couldn’t hear me, eventually got order taken and when I asked about price out phone down. Daughter went in to collect and he was very rude to her, told her ‘not to phone back as told you some of order not available’. £34 wasted as not great either. Yes, being busy is great for business but not speaking to my daughter like that, or a hashed cooked meal. Now I believe some of the other posts about rudeness.

Must be one of the tastiest meals we have had in a very long time. Service was very efficient and friendly. Compliments to the chef and we look forward to returning.

The service in this restaurant is awful , we went for a special family meal we gave them our order in advance because there was 15 of us it. Was also booked well in advance to allow them to be able to staff it properly ,because it was a Saturday night and we were aware that members of our family have had issues with service ,but because the food is good we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt , and also a helping hand by order in advance

This was our first visit to Tandoori Haven and the outcome was a mixed experience. Perhaps this was due to an understaffing issue on that night and if so perhaps our experience is not what customers normally experience. Basically the food was very good but the service was very erratic.

I was there with my mum in May and I have to say, that everything was very good. For us was that high experience as our first time beeing in India restaurant, we were so excited about indian meal, so delicious sashlik, kind of service and very nice, opened und friendly staff. Highly recommended, it was all amazing, me and my mum loved that! Normally I don´t write review, but for this restaurant I must! As an evidence it is my first rewie at all. Thank you :)

Indiase restaurants zijn meestal een feestje... deze niet! De baas commandeerde zijn nieuwe ober als een dictatortje. Het eten werd leuk opgediend maar verder tamelijk smaakloos en vooral waterig... jammer. De nieuwe ober deed tenminste wel zijn best!

Went in for dinner. Never got the starter we ordered. Ordered French fried chicken got chicken nuggets. Very dry couldn't eat them. Ordered Diet colas they came out of a large bottle. Staff looked overwhelmed unable to cope.

Food to try are the North Indian special and Hasna heni Balti very tasty and spicy if you like med/hot. Lots of choice and very pleasant staff, friendly and good service. Been very busy in August this year (2019).

The staff were friendly and chatty when needed to be. The food was very good (I have eaten in Indian restaurants for over 40 years) and this one was very good. the food was well presented and just that little bit different and reasonably priced.

We have twice had a takeaway and twice been disappointed. We thought that the first one was possibly a blip so was willing to try a second many months afterwards. The food was bland. Really bland. I had a Jalfrezi and it was swimming in oil and the only tasty part was the two green chilli. My mum made a tasty Jalfrezi. We were born in India so are more than familiar with their cuisine. The food looks the part but lacks the taste. Sorry.

Food is ok. Service is less so. Waiting staff never smiled, never asked if meal ok, seemed completely disinterested in customers. Asked for another drink which never arrived. Had to ask again. Ordered two identical rices-only one arrived-spoke to waiter and another rice arrived but not the type which we had requested. Could go on at great length but will just summarise by saying food ok but service crap. Not a good experience and will not be back. Fortunately do not live in Stonehaven.

All dishes were excellent and priced absolutely adequate for the quality. Friendly service. An absolute must have is the red sauce! The starter Roti with various sauces was a highlight.

Visited last Wednesday for an early supper. We were the first people there - v quiet! Delicious food and such a good, varied menu. Always a good atmosphere in there due to the fun music! Place got busier as we were eating. Both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

We sat here on a Friday night, it’s was really quiet with only one couple in the restaurant. The service was attentive and the food was amazing. I’ve had a fair number of Indian meals but this one was so tasty in comparison. Totally recommend this place and I would eat hear again, great value for money.

Just been for meal and was actually made to feel we had to hurry up meal so other people could get a seat also buffet only had four starters four mains and one rice no puddings or extra sauces won't be back young boys serving run of there feet and no customer service

We had a super meal once again here last Wednesday. Great food and the friendly efficient service that we have come to expect. Decent portions, prepared to order, with the chef tweaking each dish to meet the heat we had each asked for. Poppadoms and pickles, then Nag Phal and King Prawn Malibari with a special Biryani rice side dish, garlic naan and cauliflower Bhaji. Good value too. We'll be back again soon!

Stonehaven is very busy during Hogmanay due to the fire festival so it can prove very tricky to find a good place to eat so my girlfriend and I were lucky to find this place .

£10.95 buffet on a Weds evening - great! Choice of various pakora to start, poppadums, then 4 different curries with rice and naan, with some salad to help yourself to too. All really nice, and absolutely great value in a nice setting.

We regularly visit this restaurant and enjoy takeaways from it too. We are absolutely addicted to the food. It tastes super. Full of great flavours and the staff are always so friendly even when the restaurant is full. The speed of service is impressive when we have been in and we just love coming here. Extremely reasonably priced and a warm welcoming experience. Also the naan’s are some of the best I have ever tasted. Well done Tandoori Haven!

This is not a large restaurant situated on the High Street of Stonehaven it may be small but the menu has a large choice, and the meals are very tasty I have never had a meal I did not enjoy the staff are very friendly and helpful in selecting a curry to suit individuals taste.

I had a family meal here and we had a nice enough waiter but then I cringed a lot when he said "will you be requiring drink for yourselves this evening ". The food was nice but everything else felt a bit scripted to be honest.

Dropped in to the restaurant around 5 and ordered food for delivery at 8:30. Spot on time the food was delivered and it was simply excellent. Quantity, taste, et all - brilliant. Well done Tandoori Haven!. And, the staff from order taking to delivery were exceptionally warm and friendly.

What an awesome meal we had last night, the service was second to non, nothing too much trouble, and as for the food, amazing, draft beer was spot on and the cost was very reasonable, try for yourselves, u won’t be disappointed, we will be back, I have to 100’s of different Indian restaurants and this is in the top 10, far far better than soak & spice which we tried a couple of nights before, how that is higher on trip advisor is beyond me, thanks again for a superb meal, see you soon

This restaurant has served good Indian Food for a number of years and the service and attentiveness of staff is excellent. You know that whenever you go there, you are going to get good food, served well, at a reasonable price. That's why so many people keep on coming back

At a lose end one Sunday evening we decided to have a trip to Stonehaven for supper and went for a curry at the Tandoori Haven we had be their before with the grand children many months ago yet the staff rememberd us and the children and made us feel realy welcome the currys were excelent cooked to perfection and the plates soon disapeared leaving two saticfied customers.

I actually love it here if I could would eat here every week. It's delicious. They have a buffet every week too which you get so much food for what you pay. I love a take away they are always on time and always give more than you ask for couldn't recommend anymore.

Die Speisekarte ist etwas ungewöhnlich geschrieben aber variationsreich. Ungewöhnlich wenige indische Getränke stehen zur Auswahl. Die vegetarischen Pakoras waren frisch zubereitet und schmeckten gut. Wie fast überall in UK ist die Würzung etwas dezent. Daran muss man sich gewöhnen. Das Hauptgericht war sehr gut, das Lamm zart. Preis vs. Leistung stimmten absolut überein. Als Beilagen hatte ich Reis und Papadam. Beides lecker. Jedoch steht der Preis des Reises nicht im Verhältnis zur Menge.

We were getting Hungary after being out all day.we stopped at stonehaven. We looked at the menu seen buffet eat all you want.We were shown to our seats. We were given popadoms and chutney.waited a wee bit for our drinks. The buffet was a disappointment .the choices were poor. Plain nan was on offer.there were no korma.a few veg dishes.a few I think it was lamb.no choice s of rice.approx three choice s of starters.the buffet was at the back of the restaurant where it was dark and dingy.i have been to several buffets and the choice of starters.main meal and sweet were of abundance.there were no sweet offered.not worth the money.i know it was my choice to have the buffet.never again.

Managed to fit us in with a short notice Friday night booking, we had to wait 20 mins for our table but staff were so nice and kept us hydrated . It had been a long time since visiting the Tandoori Haven and I wasn't sure what to expect, it was really really good and I can't wait to go back!We decided last minute on a Saturday night that we wanted to eat out, I tried calling several other restaurants in Stonehaven only to be told they were fully booked, when I tried the Tandoori they said they had a table available, we got down there shortly after and the restaurant was nearly full but they had squeezed us in at a table near the back. We all ordered a range of different dishes & meats and all 6 of us didn't have a single complaint, my daughter also had a childrens meal and it was HUGE!! The food was really good and the service was excellent, our table was next to the kitchen and the staff were constantly in and out with take away orders too, we couldn't believe how well they were all working under pressure. It's been such a long time since I had been in for a sit-down meal at the Tandoori, next time I'll be down for the Wednesday buffet!
