Food way spot on, lamb and chicken masala, coconut and pilau rice, coconut nan and onion Baji were all perfectly cool year flavour plenty of sauce!The driver and the gentleman that took the order on the phone took out their time to find my address as it’s tricky to find. Very polite and the driver was very polite smiley and efficient!Defiantly my new friday night take away!

Ordered a takeaway Saturday night, thought we would try local for a change. We were told to arrive at a certain time, we were early, good job as it was ready and would have been sitting there for another 10 minutes if we collected the time they told us to. The waiter who opened the door (sign on the door says to wait) was quite abrupt, no greeting, just asked name and gave me the bill, no please or thank you. Maybe because we aren’t regulars perhaps, but treating people like that won’t make them regulars. We got it home, the popadoms were stale unfortunately and the chicken in the curry wasn’t great, seems like a mix of nice chicken and not so nice chicken. The rest of it was ok but we won’t be rushing back there!

Awesome food and excellent staff, the food was quick and piping hot and the overall atmosphere was great. A perfect 10th anniversary meal for my wife and I. Can’t fault it

I’ve been a regular customer of Tamarind Spice for several years, both dine-in and takeaway. I’ve found the food is consistently excellent- tastes fresh, cared for, great portions, very tasty, full of flavour and good value for money. The staff are hardworking and pleasant and they’ve worked hard to make the dine-in attractive, comfortable and a nice experience. Before covid the dine-in was always bustling at the weekends so I hope their regular customers will soon return to support this staple of a local epsom and Ewell business!

Fantastic restaurant. Polite and quick service. We dined it and everything was COVID safe well spaced out, hand sanitiser upon arrival and your details were requested to be written down. Fosters and Cobra on draft. Great array of curries and sides. Would recommend the Chicken Jolonder and Saag Aloo. Will definitely be returning!

Waited mins almost two hours for curry. Chased after an hour and a quarter, told curry had just left, after another half an hour called again, only live ten mins away. Asked for mild Balti too spicy for daughter. Rogon tasted as if spices had not been cooked off properly with no depth of flavour. Paratha raw and inedible. I think they had forgotten my order only realising when I called then rushed an order out... Totally disappointing. Won't be using them again.

OMG! I’m full up! The food was delicious, delivered in 25 minutes after placing the order (I live in the neighbourhood very close).The Aloo Chollay amazingly good, Chicken Tikka Bhuna juicy and exactly how I like it! I have been reluctant to get a takeaway during the current lock down but was persuaded on Saturday. The food was delicious and under normal conditions they are the only restaurant and takeaway for Indian food we consider in the area. The main thing for me however was I felt safe in the premises. The staff were wearing masks. They maintained distance. If anyone is feeling a bit apprehensive don't be and support our local restaurant.

I got a takeaway today from Tamarind Spice and it was Delicious. Every single item was lovely from the popadoms to the main course. Thanks to all of the lovely staff for being open for us in these difficult times.

Booked for a Valentines day meal as I had recieved good feedback from people who had visited previously. Upon arrival, as I was taking off my coat and scarf one of the staff members asked us how many poppadums we wanted and what we wanted to drink. We hadnt even sat down let alone had a minute to look at the menu. The food however can't be faulted and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. They cleared our table and planted the bill in front of us, without asking us if we even wanted dessert or another drink, and asked to pay. We hadn't even finished our drinks. We felt really let down by the service as the food was lovely, but it made for a really awkward experience. We were surprised at how rude they were, chugged down our drinks and felt like we were being kicked out. Shame, the food was lovely.

2nd time I have been there tonight and it is the best Indian restaurant i have come across in a very long time. The food has been exceptional on the two visits I have had and the other people and i have planned our next visit on the way home.

Been going here for years and in my opinion offers the best Indian cuisine in the local area. We tend to go for the sizzling chicken and spinach but there is huge menu on offer. The restaurant is large and great for a big groups. The staff are always friendly and give you a warm welcome each time we go and even if we haven't booked they always manage to squeeze us in.

Always great food whether a delivery or in the restaurant. Food is better than your average Indian restaurant served efficiently. Excellent value for money. Can’t beat it. Chicken tikka patia is reliably good every time.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again tamarind spice is the best around! This place delivers quality time after time and the owners are very accommodating and friendly, we have hired this out many times over the years and I would always recommend this curry house! I have tried others and none seem to come anywhere close to competing with these guys.

a very busy restaurant for a Wednesday night. We ordered a take away which was quickly prepared and presented. The beef and prawn dishes were excellent and well cooked with loads of flavours. The rice was the best yet!!!

Enjoyed my meal here as did my son. The food was a good standard. The restaurant was quite quiet for a Friday night. It was quite a sterile environment but that said it was clean and good lighting. Service was good and the staff were very attentive.

We have used Tamarind on many occasions, whether it's to dine in or a delivery. We're local so it's nice to walk there if the weather permits. The service is always excellent, the food is delicious, and for the average appetite, plentiful.

Visited the restaurant as a group of 6 on Sat 23rd Feb having eaten there several times before. Service was inconsistent and had to wait a long time to order and for food after ordering despite the restaurant not being full. Food was sadly not of the same quality as previous visits. A keema naan was awful and a nasty grey colour, a dansak tasted very sugary and far more limited amounts of meat in the dishes, very greasy and not as tasty

Everybody local knows tamarind spice, as its says on its website its the best known local Indian restaurant. 5 of us visited on a Saturday evening and we expected it to be full of people as past reviews have said people queue to get a table, well there were no queues and the restaurant was only half full and over 3 hours that didn't change, we were seated in a booth which felt comfy and almost above everyone else, drinks and poppadoms were quickly served and orders taken (by the way if you order a coke it's poured from a large bottle which costs £2 but you are charged double the price for). Food arrived fairly quickly and we all tucked in, all the dishes were nice apart from one of them where the lamb was so tough it was inedible but apart from that it was enjoyed, we found the service nice and friendly unlike other reviews saying it was rude, all in all a very nice evening with just a few minor or should I say inedible problems and just be careful when ordering cokes as that's just a plain old rip off which isn't nice.

Food is fairly good, however the service has recently become poor. A stated 45 min wait for delivery turned out to be a 2 hour wait. And its the second time in as many months. Poor customer service really as they didn't inform us that there would be a delay or give any update.

We enjoyed a delicious selection of Indian foods last night for New Years Eve. The Chicken Cashew Stir Fry on the Specials was lush. Restaurant was full, yet service was relaxed and timely. Great atmosphere with polite, attentive waiting staff. Kids were warmly welcomed and actively engaged with, even though they were busy. Highly recommend.

It was an impromptu desire for an Indian that lead us here, we thought we’d book (just because) and glad we did as they were turning people away and I can see why!

If you want a takeaway on a Sunday, this is the place to use. We had some friends round and ordered 3 tandoori mains and a specials list chicken dish, rice, plenty of sides and the meal for four of us came to £70 odd. The food was ready in 25 minutes and it was delicious. When we've eaten in the restaurant we've found it comfortable and service has been good. I really enjoy the food here and they will make the food as spicy as you want it if you ask them. We had enough left overs for lunch for two the next day. Good value.

We’ve gone to the restaurant numerous times and my husband’s father especially likes the place but last night was enough to put me off coming back.

The food is not very good just average at best. Chicken Tikka Bhuna tasted like it was very cheap chicken.

Little nervous having seen the recent reviews, however as this was booked by someone else, I went with the flow. We went as a large group, 40+ people in a rebooking for an event fundraiser thing, and the staff did very well, both in terms of service and food.

I’ve lived a few doors down from the Tamarind spice for over 16 years back when it was known as the Castle. I’ve enjoyed many good meals in the restaurant and takeaway meals over this time but unfortunately have witnessed a massive decline in its service and quality of food recently. There was an East European man on front desk for a while who looked and acted like the last thing he wanted was a customer so I stopped going. I’ve tried it again recently and the owner is back which is nice but the food isn’t up to scratch at all. My chicken madras was very mediocre, over cooked and looked like it had ‘bits’ of something like cream in it. As I’m lactose intolerant i now have an uncomfortable stomach. The last time this happened I took it back and they made it fresh and it was a completely different dish! Now the grumpy, unhappy man has gone they need to commit promoting the restaurant with fresh, clean tasty food. I won’t be going again for a long time but I hope they do better.

Just moved to area and decided on a takeaway tonight. Nearly went there the night before but there was a takeaway opposite that looked really busy but decided not to bother. However tonight tried the Tamarind. Immediately greeted by East Europeans who showed no interest. Told them I'm knew here ( the area ) and they cared not. Ordered a takeaway and as it was a Lamb tikka Bhuna that was flagged up as medium hot. I asked that it was quiet spicy. Nan bread. Cauliflower bhaji. Sag aloo. In the meantime the man waiting for his informed me that he never normally came here ? Still no Indian people were spotted. Got the meal and walked under 2 mins home to cold Lamb ? That was in no way mildly spicy. The rest tasted all the same ? The bread was ok. I want and Indian when I go to and Indian. Shocking for a 1st visit.

We were 3 persons arriving at Tamarind Spice on a Sunday at 1.20pm to have lunch. As soon as we entered the restaurant, the waiter did not look happy nor welcome us, instead, told us that they are closing at 2.30pm, implying we were a bit late.

Never had a bad meal from here, although they do seem to forget my cobra! Onion bhajis are the best in the area and the chicken saag it delish. My son sticks with a korma and a dhansak. Top marks!

Went for dinner with family, except it seems that this restaurant is not family friendly and do not welcome children as they do not have high chairs. Would not visit again on the principal that they are unwelcoming and were as soon as they saw us walk through the door with our little boy!!!

Este es mi restaurante indio local y he estado aquí en 3 o así ocasiones recientemente. No es una salida barata por cualquier medio y no recomendaría este lugar en particular. La calidad de la comida es muy inconsistente y medio de mis visitas vi entrante Pollo cilantro con algunas crudas, sin cocer el pollo. Yo no puedo quejarme ya que no desea causar una escena en la comida de cumpleaños de un amigo. En mi última visita, pedí un pollo Dhansak principal y era tan amplificador abrumado con ajo, he luchado a través de ella. Este restaurante solía ser muy bueno, pero sin duda han decrecido en los estándares de control de calidad de alimentos. Sin embargo, sus precios no tienen. Un costo promedio por cabeza sería de 35 libras. 00, ya que los precios de las bebidas son empinadas. El servicio también podría ser mejor, ya que la actitud general de los camareros era indiferente a impaciente. La decoración y el entorno son muy buenos, pero es una pena que la calidad de la comida no coinciden. Necesita estar haciendo Tamarind Spice mucho mejor, especialmente, en los precios que cobran. My first visit on a friend's recommendation. Had king prawn shashlick which was delicious and generous portions. Lovely red wine. Good service. Will be back.

My wife and I had a very nice meal here. Nice decor, the perfect level of lighting, and relatively attentive service. The food was outstanding. The chutneys we had with the poppadoms were really fresh and delicious. Excellent chicken kashmiri and naan. The biryani was very good but the flavor was a little overpowered by the tikka chicken, so next time we'll try the regular chicken to compare. All in all a really nice night out, hoping to get back soon.

Won't be going back.Starter was very small (semi acceptable)Naan bread was the smallest I've ever been given (it was tiny), after literally hundreds of curries at tens of different restaurants around the country.Main was a different dish to the last time I had it.I actually kicked myself over one thing - it's never as good on a Saturday night. Don't know why: more staff? Rushing? But definitely a trend.Won't be going back on any night which is a big disappointment.

Another visit to Tamarind and we came away happy. The food was great. Poppadoms are excellent as is the naan. King Prawn pathia has stacks of prawns and loads of flavour. Great lamb sag and enough for two. Chicken rogan hit the spot. The house wine is good value and very cold. We also ordered three different rice dishes and all were great. Sides of onion bhaji were surprisingly good, crisp and not greasy at all. The only slight negative was the slow service but we were there to talk and enjoy each other's company so having time to do so was fine.

We've eaten here a few times because it's near our house. Most of the staff are nice and the decor is pleasant. However, the food really isn't that good. I think tonight was our last visit.

Once again I find myself writing a review about a restaurant where the food is great but the service poor. We went here on a Saturday night without booking. This is obviously not a good idea (i.e. not booking on a Saturday). Anyway we got there at 19:45 and were told a table would be available between 20:00 and 20:15. We were eventually seated at about 20:45.From that point onwards the service was good and bad. But I have to say the food was absolutely lovely as usual. Come on Tamarind Spice, and so many other restaurants, your food is great but sort your service out.BTW - I think I may have crossed the line between being assertive and rude to the waiters. And for that I apologise.

I must congratulate you Tamarind on the ability to pass yourselves off as a Restaurant. I've cooked better curries whilst sleep walking, blindfolded with cat food as my only ingredient. All the food was luke warm, the naan somehow seemed to be wet the chicken dry and the sauce of the dopiaza was disrespectful to my taste buds. The slice of cucumber was the best item I can comment about. Also, If you are going to advertise a delivery time of 45 minutes, please do not turn up after 90 minutes. 'Any minute now' is also not a valid response when that 'any minute' is 20 minutes later. That's enough time for me to get the cat food out.

So this is the place for us.Unlike a lot of Indian restaurants, the staff are pollute and engaging and smile!!!The place is unhurried and relaxing. We often go with friends as we know we can sit and chat over reasonably priced meal and bottle of wine (or two).The manager is in a class of his own. Always makes you feel special and friendly; like your his number one customer. The complimentary free drink at the end of the night helps – I do love a free brandy or amaretto!I love food here and have no idea what region it is from, but would you know the difference anyway? I know a Irish stew, British roast dinner, Italian Pizza, Spanish Paella but years of eating Indian I still don’t know the regions or pretentious enough to pretend I do. I do know what I like and what I don’t, and I like it here!The tables are seated with enough room to get in and out and not listen to your neighbours conversation. Always supper clean with impeccably dressed staff. The place is often very busy and sometime you could say service a little slow (they have a lot of waiters but a lot of customers too). But to us, it just means we have a chance to enjoy the place and evening out with friends before looking at an empty plate (have you ever noticed in some Indian or Chines restaurants that they almost serve you so quick, so you feel have to leave too soon?) this isn’t one of those. We normally take a table around 8.30 and leave about 11 (and slightly tipsy).But to be clear, you probably won’t say this is the very best food you have ever had, and you probably would say it “That special place for your grannies 100 birthday” but you say “let’s go out with friends and enjoy and evening we can afford, have fun and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere”This is a modern restaurant with high standard charging reasonable realistic prices. Honestly speaking, I often get the bill with a an unexpected reaction “is that all!” doesn’t happen in many other places.Highly recommended

We were a large pre-wedding group, some had not experienced curry before, so the staff made sure nothing was too spicy or unpleasant for anyone. Endless dishes to choose from to suit your palate and though we waited nearly 50 minutes for our food to arrive, they apologised but offered more drinks (guess what, they were charged on the final bill). The drinks portion was more than the actual food courses!We all ordered various dishes so we shared within our group. Prawn dishes could have been more generous but tasty anyway.The mild and medium courses plus side dishes were very good, chicken a bit on the dry side but edible. Not much waste apart from vegetable curry that accompanied the Biryani dishes.Would come again, but do not quote the time of your return to the babysitter!!

Went here in a party of 10 on Saturday. The food is lovely. Poppadoms to start. I had a first course of mince done in an omelette. Very tasty. I had a chicken jalfrezi, pilau rice and saag aloo. My husband and I are real foodies and would and have travelled miles for a great curry. But little did we know that this is the best curry restaurant in Ewell and it's right on our doorstep.We decided last minute after work yesterday to try Tamarind Spice for the first time. My husband enjoys a Madras while I enjoy a full flavoured aromatic style Achar dish. Unfortunately for me, there wasn't one on the menu, but the waiter kindly popped into the kitchen to ask Chef about a similar dish. The Chef said he could make a one-off chicken Achar and boy o boy .... it was spot on. The food was superb. So much so that I took home a doggy bag for today's lunch.I think they've just got themselves a couple of regular customers from now on!!

Only recently started using this restaurant as I was a bit sceptical. The food is really good, offers al the usual Indian regulars but their specials are the ones to choose. Different flavours and tastes make it seem really home cooked.Service is friendly and efficient.Decent choice of wines and beers make it a good local

Shame really, as I had high hopes for this restaurant, but though delivery was extremely quick I found the food quite bland and expensive when compared to other local takeaways. There are plenty of cheaper and tastier ones in my area but a look on the Food Hygiene website has been a real eye opener. At least this one was rated clean, the vast majority in Epsom and Ewell get a 1 or 0.

Visited this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday night. The restaurant was clean, staff extremely welcoming encouraging us to take our time and making suggestions. The atmosphere was great with a mix of groups of friends, old & young, families & couples. We had the set menu, a bottle of gorgeous prosseco and a couple of other alcoholic drinks the bill came to £65 for two. I would highly recommend and will return for sure.

This is an excellent venue and I would highly recommend a visit. Last night I organised a meal for 16 friends. I thought Wednesday would be a quiet night but I was wrong it was over half full but still the food and service was excellent. The whole feeling of the restaurant is warm, comfortable and relaxed. The food all came out in as timely fashion as one would expect for such a large party. Everyone got the correct dish first time around which is a great recommendation. The variety of dishes is very good and all are full of flavour. I have visited the Tamarind before with varying sized parties and have always been satisfied. Enjoy.

Visited this restaurant again after some time. Nice inside lots of staff, quick to take your drinks and popadum order, but then it's slow, a very long wait to get your food, good job the restaurant was not full. When we did get it all 4 dishes they lacked flavour and spice can only describe as edable but bland. prices are quite high for this area. Don't think we make it a third time here.

The staff were welcoming and despite having our three young (mucky!) daughters with us, they were helpful and attentive.The food was excellent quality, quickly served and piping hot. This is NOT our local (we usually eat at le Raj. Epsom Downs.) but considering the good value, will certainly be back!

Living in West Ewell there aren't many places one can go to eat, drink, and be merry. Even fewer that can be reached on foot. But those are the least of any reason to visit this wonderful restaurant. As always the food was cooked to perfection, with tastes that bring us back time and time again. The service is difficult to fault as they aim to please regardless of how busy they are. Overall every time we go we expect the best and they are yet to disappoint. Highly recommended to all foodies and anyone looking for a good time.

Been here multiple times and it is a family favourite. Delicious food, fantastic service and decent prices for a curry house.Always get the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma and Chicken Kashmiri but family members have ventured into the Dansak, Rojan Josh and more and all have been incredible.Would 100% recommend to anyone that wants to try a curry house in Surrey - it's worth travelling for!

This was our second visit to Tamarind Spice as my family insisted to revisit after a great first visit. This restaurant has it all: attentive staff, great atmosphere, and very delicious food. We tried different dishes at each visit, and every dish tasted as good as the others. Enjoy the experience ;).

Went there after reading the good review about the restaurant.The menu and food is catered to the British palate and is really far from authentic Indian cooking.We were looking forward to the Thai option but it's only an Indian restaurant.

Well, basic mistake: I ordered "shami kebabs" for starter and received a portion of "sheek kebabs" like there was no difference between those two...

We was staying at Chessington World and wanted to go out for an Indian. This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants we have ever eaten at. Booked by email, greeted at the door. Service was fast and waiters were very helpful. The food was fresh and hot and tasted out of this world, was not rushed at any point. Wish we could move this to Kent as would go back every week. Thank you to all the staff for making our evening so special.

This was our first visit to Tamarind Spice and we left wanting to go back for more. The staff were incredibly welcoming and seated our party of five at a lovely table. The decor is very modern and clean! The menu was amazing but if there was something you wanted cook differently it would have been done for you without question. Our meals were of the highest quality and lots of it! We will certainly visit again when we're next in Epsom.

Lamb chops were tasty but a bit bony, the curry, rice and side were poor, very disappointing, takeaways are a treat these days this one fell way short.

Neither my friend nor I lives in the area but Epsom was a convenient place to meet for an evening's wining and dining. We chose the Tamarind Spice simply because the reviews were encouraging and we liked what we saw on the website. It was a good choice. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the atmosphere delightful and the food particularly good. We don't need to search further for another restaurant in the Epsom/West Ewell area; the Tamarind Spice suits us perfectly.

This is the best curry House ever.The food is excellent,staff are friendly,service is great.Always recommend it and wouldn't go anywhere else.
