Tale of Spice in Castlereagh

The food was absolutely delicious. I’m looking forward to the restrictions being lifted and sitting in, but I’m sure we’ll have another take away (or 2) before then.

Visited here as a family after looking at the menu online and the early bird offer of two courses for £16.95 seemed reasonable. This was during the “eat out to help out scheme” but when we arrived the only menu offered to us was a set choice of two courses for £22. We asked for an alternative menu but were informed this was the only one available. We had waited a while to get a table so decided to stay, plus the other establishments around the area all had long queues. The food was superb, service a little slow but it was quite busy at the time. We also heard various customers around us querying the £22 set menu. I have waited a while to write this review and I still feel conned by this visit. To add insult to injury the staff made reference to the great discount and cheap meal we had on two occasions! As before, the food was first class but if paying the standard prices then you will have an expensive night out. £45 for three rice, three meals and drinks does not reflect any type of offer whatsoever. We visited different establishments during August and this was the only one that had inflated the prices. Based on this experience we will never return.

Went here with a friend just to try something different from the usual American diner fare and we weren't disappointed. The atmosphere was perfect, the service was great and the food excellent. We will definitely be back and as often as possible. Highly recommended.

Me and my partner went for a friday date night and enjoyed the lovely relaxing atmosphere, amazing cocktails and fantastic food. Staff were all really friendly and made us feel very welcome, especially our server Viveik. Will definitely be visiting again soon

Had booked a table for 6.30. When we arrived at 6.20 we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait but people in the queue had booked for 6 and still not been seated. People were queued in the restaurant and right up against tables, terrible during the current pandemic

This is my second time here in the last few weeks. The food is delicious and very nice portion sizes.The cocktails are divine. Staff are friendly and waiter Vivek was very pleasant. Will be here again soon.

I have visited here several times with my boyfriend and we are never disappointed. Food is lovely and can not fault the service. Staff are so friendly, Vivek could not do more for us. Definitely recommend and will be back.

Great service, great food. Sorry to say they offer a set menu for the early bird of starter and main for £20. Main only was £17. Their early bird on their website is 2 courses for 16.95 and I presume you get a choice of starter, main and desert. They have increased their prices by £3. Chancing their arm with the eat out to help out scheme when one of the rules is that they are to use their normal menu. Getting people to spend more without them even realising. Would make me think twice about returning.

Fast service, lovely food and really good cocktails, would definitely come back again. Ask for Vivek, he knows what you want ...!!

Booked a table for 2 for my wife's birthday, made a few amendments to the booking as family wanted to attend and they were more than accommodating and ended up with a table of 8! We were seated right away and the service was second to none, when they found out it was my wife's birthday they bought out a free dessert and all the staff sang which was a lovely touch! One of the first places I have been recently where I wasn't felt rushed out, despite how busy they were! Will definitely be back again!!

Amazing food and service at tale of spice. We have been a number of times now and the food and service is always brilliant thanks to our server Vivek.

Very nice food but one course would have been nice only. The eat out scheme for the Tale of Spice is a set menu, starters and main course £22.ok that's £12 but too much food. Might not suit every one but good food none the less

Myself my wife and our 3 kids all visited on Sunday. we haven’t really had a meal out together in months but love tale of spice again it didn’t disappoint the sharing starter was huge and such better value than buy individual starters, kids all ordered korma and masala from the kids menu which was a risk for the 2 little ones but they loved it. My only issue was I got the jalfrezi and there was no heat to it at all but I’ve ordered it 6-7 times before so I’m putting it done to just an off night. We will 100% be back maybe soon to avail of the eat out to help out offer during the week.

Nice greeting on arrival and got seated quickly. Given a set menu, starter and main £22, no other menu provided. Food arrived swiftly and it was very tasty but left with a bitter taste after discovering they actually had a normal menu available and priced cheaper than set menu. That is the reason for the 3 star rating, set menu should be better value not more expensive.

We were staying in the nearby caravan site and called here after reading great reviews. It didn’t disappoint, we got our table straight away and the waiters (Viver) were very helpful and courteous. We were served free popadoms with really nice dips while waiting on our meal and had a lovely monkey 47 Gin while the kids had milkshakes. Our meal was so tasty, we are big Indian fans and must say it was one of the nicest meals we’ve had. We will definitely return in the near future to try something different from the menu.

Absolutely delicious food, not a long wait and generally a great atmosphere. Our waiter Vivek was absolutely superb also! Great service!!

Just had a Covid discount meal. Very busy but we were well looked after by Vivek who was extremely attentive. The food, as usual, was lovely - different from so many Indian restaurants and not oily at all. Recommended.

Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes on our food and we had only ordered one main course each. That was disappointing, however I can’t fault the food. It was lovely, just a shame we had to wait so long

The staff were very curtious and polite. Loved the free pompadoms as a little appetiser. Meal was great and the whole experience was very pleasant and hassle free.

We came here during the eat out to help out scheme and did not regret it! The food was fantastic and all the staff were excellent. We were served by Vivek and he was very friendly :) The sizzling tikka was the best we’ve had (see photo)! Will definitely be back!

Delicious food with excellent service. So friendly and welcoming, myself and my boyfriend both love Indian food and we were not disappointed great taste , great Menu with variety and great service. Must add.. I enjoyed a really good mojito here too, not what you go to an Indian restaurant for but I was really impressed,great attention to detail.I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be back !

Outstanding restaurant with great customer service, coming over from Scotland made it worthwhile, food was to die for and the complimentary shot after dinner topped it off. Shoutout to the guy that supports Barcelona, great sense of humour.

Tale of Spice must be one of my favourite Indian Restaurants in greater Belfast area. They have innovated in this lockdown by offering a take out and delivery service.I had a spicy butter chicken and pilau rice take out last night. Spicy I hear you say, yes spicy.....traditionally butter chicken is a mild, creamy and un sweet dish famous in Punjab. I asked chef for mine to be spicy and loved the heat, but, alas he had sweetened it-no doubt for the local palate. There were a generous number of succulent chicken tikka pieces and the sauce was creamy and spicy!! Definitely 9 out of 10.My girls and I took very little time polishing it off!!

Had the special offer on Saturday night, absolutely stuffed with great Indian food. Quality 2nd to none. Quantity of main course above others in the area, that makes us go back! And the staff are great too!

You will not find better or tastier Indian food in Belfast. Dishes are full of meat and veg, not like some restaurant you go to where it is mostly sauce with a few bits of meat thrown in.I have lost count of the amount of times I have eaten here, and unfortunately due to current circumstances delivery/takeaway is all we can het, but it never disappoints.

Tuve una deliciosa comida aquí anoche. El servicio fue excepcional. Poppadoms y salsas gratis para comenzar, muy sabroso. Teníamos pollo rogan josh y pollo tikki con arroz pilau y naan simple o ajo. Definitivamente el mejor indio que he tenido! Mi hijo tiene goujons y papas fritas, caseras y deliciosas. Para el postre tuvimos el ganache de chocolate y el postre de chocolate con menta, ¡ambos deliciosos! ! Definitivamente volveremos! !

Visited on NYE with my boyfriend. Loved the authentic decor. Place was buzzing. We were shown to our table promptly. Poppadoms brought quickly to table with our drinks. Dips were delicious. Starters served promptly the mixed stater was one of the best I have... I did ask for garlic chilli chicken Tikka to be as hot as possible and it was just a lil hot but the flavour was outstanding. Service was professional and efficient. We both enjoyed our food thoroughly. Can't wait to go back

I had read the reviews and decided that it was now worth a try and was not disappointed. One phone call order and 20 minutes later and I was able to collect. No waiting around. The menu gives plenty of choice and the generous portions were tasty and very satisfying, and the prices are competitive.On our next visit we shall eat in instead of a carry out. Can't wait!!

Went with friends had a lovely meal, great hospitality, ordered Chicken tikka Biryani, Dal Makhani & my favourite Murg malai tikka yummy taste , i love this place the time you walk in . great service and great food . will be back next week on our special occasion .

We visited here on a Sunday night for a family meal due to seeing such good reviews. However we were very disappointed... the coke was clearly out of a bottle, it was flat and had no taste to it. The sauce to go with the poppadoms was very scarce, with the poppadoms themselves tasteless. My daughters chicken nuggets and chips were undercooked, when we complained about this, the manager simple pointed out, the kids meal is free anyway, as though that makes it ok to serve undercooked food? The meat in the curries we ordered was in tiny amounts and again undercooked and questionable, the sauces had very little taste in them, making the fact the rice was bland very obvious. Very disappointing, we won’t be returning.

Excellent food, excellent service,a delightful place to enjoy some excellent Indian food. Good wine list , not overly expensive and a wide menu choice.

Called in here on the off chance with a friend for lunch, £8.95 for 2 courses was a super deal and the food was beautiful, the restaurant was spotless and staff very attentive. Cannot wait to visit again!

Service very good. I was only therefor a take out.I would like to try eating inside for lunch or dinner. Generally I would recommend it. Good value.

Delicious meal! Full of flavour. From walking through the door you're made very welcome by the lovely staff. Our meals were delicious, choice and drinks/cocktails menu are very good also . Would definitely recommend Tale of spice for a truley enjoyable meal.

Have just been for dinner and very much recommend this place. The Rezala Chicken was delicious and the peshwari naan to die for. Other half got the Tandoori mix starter and Chicken Bhuna which was also amazing. The service was first class.

Since the first week when Tale Of Spice opened its doors we have been " regulars " ..I feel that in saying that.... it speaks volumes as a recommendation .

Yet another great meal at Tale of Spice. Our waiter Rep asked if it was something special, we said our son was going back to Uni in England, and he brought two extra dishes at start and end. Really nice touch and such a nice guy. As always food was great, staff are lovely, atmosphere is friendly, just a great place for excellent an curry. Needless to say we will be back!

Love going to this place it never disappoints, the food is always fantastic. The chicken tikka patia is my favourite, but I have yet to order something that I haven't liked. Our order was a bit late this time but our waiter Rep give us a complimentary dish while we waited, which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!

It's hard to beat this place. The staff are all fantastic. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is consistantly great and nothing is too much trouble. Our favourite restaurant in Belfast by far.

Me and my colleagues read some good reviews and decided to give this a try. The food was fantastic and we found ourselves having good conversations with the staff. Highly recommend the king prawn puri and chilli chicken tikka masala. As a recommendation by a staff member I was given some extra scotch bonnet pickle to add to the food. Just WOW! The only thing missing is an F in the picture Will definitely be going back!

We had lunch with my family and from the moment we arrived, we were greeted with great service; everyone was very accomodating to our needs. The food was simply delicious and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place when in Belfast.

Went here with my boyfriend on a Wednesday night. Food, service and ambience was Amazing. We were well looked after the entire time, they even brought out complimentary ice-cream. Our waiter was 1st class, he wasn't the manager, didn't catch his name, but he served us very well, someone who is very good at his job. Will definitely be back. The young guy at the till was also very friendly and polite. Food was fresh, well cooked and had great flavour.

Brilliant service and hospitality here! Staff taking the time to talk to you and realising my girlfriend wasn’t rushing her food, she was ‘Just hungry’ and then letting them know I had a flight to catch, so they left me a nice message also!

I had a very pleasant evening today with dinner at this place, the quality service we received from the waiters, Ashley and Rep, was sublime. They went above and beyond their call of duty to ensure that we were having a good time. I ordered a chicken jalfrezi with garlic naan and I would highly recommend this dish. Overall, I wish to express my thanks to this restaurant and hope to be back soon!

We visited Tale of Spice on a Friday Evening and the service was second to none. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The manager served us and was very helpful in recommending the right dish to suit our apetite. He was very humorous and even brought complimentary tasters with a funny “side” as seen in the photo below. We will definitely be back here.

excellent all round - warm welcome, attentive and knowledgeable staff, gorgeous food catering to all our family tastes. Particularly the scrumptious monkfish Balti. meal was served at a relaxed pace which is so oftennnot the case in many restaurants today. i had booked using the restaurants online service and mentioned it was a family meal to celebrate my daughters birthday. thought that point would be overlooked but no - a real fuss was made. can’t wait until next visit

My wife & I are somewhat regulars to this magnificent assault on our taste buds. We have also used the delivery service but prefer ‘eating in’ due to the ambience and service. This wonderful establishment ticks ALL the boxes in terms of food variety, taste, quality & friendly service with knowledgable staff coupled with a nice clean environment. Not the cheapest out there - but you get what you pay for... we always leave a tip.... Tale of Spice - we salute you! Thank you!

The food is amazing and freshly made. They even made it specially mild for me and extra hot for my husband! The staff specialty is outstanding service tailored just for you. Can highly recommend Tale of Spice to anyone looking for good food, good atmosphere and excellent service.

We have ate in Tale of Spice many of times and after trying other indians in NI non have matched it in terms of flqvour and quality.

Been here many times, now posting review, most recent visit a pleasure! Staff all attentive, food served precisely as per my requirements, veg Madras, no Chickpea, pea or mushroom! Madras curry was delicate yet strong spice flavour! Rice and starters again excellent, just reviewing the most recent of many previous visits. Looking forward to the next time!

We had saag lamb, best ever I had in Belfast. Great service, nice atmosphere. Definitely, I will back.

Everytime I have been to Tale of Spice the food has been phenomenal. The best Indian food I have ever had. There is a wide variety of food, which caters to everyone's taste buds. You can tell that alot of care and effort has been put into creating the menu and making the food. This is matched with the excellent service that is provided by the super friendly team of waiters. They are credit to themselves and have great fun with their customers. Cant thank them enough for the experience they provide.

Just after a meal with my parents for my dads birthday and couldnt be happier! We got the early bird menu and it was such good value, more than enough food! Our server - Rep - couldn’t have been more helpful, I couldnt decide what I wanted and he chose for me after I told him what I would normally go for, I got butter chicken and it was amazing, something I had never had before. My parents have just moved away and struggle to find a good indian so we came here, they said it was the best they’d had in a long time. Been a couple of times now and has been amazing every time. Amazing food, location, atmosphere and definitely the best service I have had in a long time. Thank you Rep for your reccomendations and your help!
