Ate here several times, loved the food and inviting atmosphere the climax of the week…Sunday roast, even catered for our furry child, could not ask for better. Nothing was too much. Would definitely visit again and definitely recommend

I’ve been coming here for several years and am never disappointed with the meals I’ve had. The staff are always happy, the service is quick and the food is both good and great value. Today, was a lovely roast beef for me and a lasagne for my son. Both plates were cleared. These were then finished off with chocolate fudge cake for me and chocolate cheesecake for my son. Unsurprisingly, both plates were again, cleared. Yummy. I’ll be back again in a few months.

Had a nice lunch, tuna and cheese melt, with a bowl of tomato and pepper soup, all washed down with a pint of stout. Perfect on a cold March day. Friendly bar staff, dog friendly

Doesn't excel at anything, average welcome, very average food, nothing great. Weird seating arrangements. All pubs in Settle are mediocre.

What a great pub this is! Super atmosphere, lovely staff, home cooked food, and decent beer - who could ask for more?

Fabulous! Warm friendly atmosphere. There was a welcoming fire which made it very cosy. The staff were welcoming there were three of us and we all enjoyed our food which was a really good portion size which was good after walking all day we were hungry. I had the Chicken and Salami Fricasee with rice and garlic bread off the specials board which was delicious. My partner had a burger, chips, salad and coleslaw and our daughter The lasagna with chips which was great size also delicious. It did tempt us to have dessert too. A chocolate, Guinness cake with Baileys topping, Chocolate fudge cake and Pecan tart, all with cream or ice cream …. Delicious . Just wish we had found this place at beginning and not the end of our holiday in Settle.

Popped in about 6pm for food after reading reviews, really friendly, local type pub, nice atmosphere. The food was lovely, as was the wine. Would certainly go back for food if in the area.

Recommended by air bnb host to visit the pub as it was a stones throw away from where we were staying. Popped in for a beer before we checked in as we were early and wanted to scope out what we were doing with the rest of our day and evening. We both love a proper good pub, so we were looking forward to relaxing with a few beers. Upon entering, we said hello and ordered our drinks. My husband noticed there was a quiz on later, and he asked, "Does the quiz get busy?" (We love a quiz and would have happily popped back to partake) to be replied with "it's full" His guinness was rushed, slopped, and topped up, and we sat at one of many empty tables all reserved at 2.30 for an 8.45 quiz. We were asking a question, and the holdall clearly showed we were visiting. A little bit of hospitality can go a long way. We felt super uncomfortable as though we were intruding and left. We found other establishments to spend money in.

Called in sat aft , all the tables had reserved but we managed to get a table as long as we were done by 7.15 no probs , wife had a special T bone pork and I had steak n ale pie with chips . Was amazing food , staff very attentive, next time we will book in advance

Excellent, friendly pub, fairly priced great quality food, well kept and good range of beers all washed down with fine service. Even enjoyed some Friday night vocal talent, brilliant atmosphere. Worth booking ahead, I couldn’t get a table the next night!

Ate here one midweek night. Good choice of beers and the two I had were lovely. The food was excellent. I had the game pie which was delicious and my wife enjoyed her burger. Tried to eat there again at the weekend but it was fully booked so do book a table if you want to eat here at weekends.

Mandy is fabulous behind the bar the decor is really nice. The customers are very friendly. What a lovely atmosphere 😍 xxx

Outstanding food. High end restaurant standard in a pub. We ate from the specials board and the food was amazing.

Make sure you book a table as this place is popular with locals and visitors alike. Food was outstanding and at a very fair price. Even better there was a mini beer festival on. Places like this make you want to return to a location for seconds………very soon.

We had a lovely dinner at The Talbot arms today, Sunday lunch was sold out (so get there before 3 pm for this) But I had beef chilli enchiladas with chips and salad and my Sister had Gammon Steak with chips and seasonal veg. The service by all of the staff was excellent, and they tended to our every needs. The food was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and piping hot, it was absolutely delicious, and fairly priced. We both had desert, Sister had bread and butter pudding with ice cream, and I had cheesecake with ice cream and they were very special indeed! I can thoroughly recommend The Talbot arms and will definitely attend again in the future. Excellent

I originally was going some place else for a quick tea but they weren't open as advertised and as I've visited the Talbot many years ago, I thought I'd give it a try. It was a Thursday tea time and it was quite busy which was a pleasant surprise. The staff were really friendly and helpful they explained our table was booked for 7pm by someone so we could use it til then, which we were more than happy with. We both just ordered main courses. Steak and ale pie - it was gorgeous and piping hot. Plenty of gravy which is always good with me. We were too full to sample the desserts but I will definitely visit again as the food, staff and the surroundings were great. They have a lovely beer garden as well. Give it a try if you are in the area, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have to confess I’ve neglected this gem of a free house regrettably for over 30 years. Shame on me! Choice of 5 cask ales on fine form - such a sociable pub - everyone seems so chatty 👍🏻. Can’t leave it so long before I return.

This place is outstanding and the food out of this world

We had the Steak Pie with veggies which was piping hot and very tasty on our visit. The bar was quite when we were there and the staff were friendly although preferred their own company which did not affect us. Just an observation.

What can you say when a pub has everything off to a tee, we were on holiday and ate here twice, first time we had Enchiladas with chips and salad then the second time we both had steaks with all the trimmings, all the food...

Excellent meal. My partner thoroughly Enjoyed the homemade steak pie ( just needed a spoon for gravy) and I had steak burger with bacon and blue stilton cheese. The ale was spot on Settle challenger and I had a very nicely presented pot of tea. Overall excellent experience, would reccomend
