Taj Mahal Tandoori Take-Away in Carmarthenshire

Where was the flavour??? This is the second meal we have purchased from here, both lacked any flavour. Almost £30 spent tonight and NOTHING had any taste. Having recently moved to the area we were keen to support local businesses. We won’t be wasting more money here and will look further afield if we fancy an Indian

Take away delivery, the food that turned up was tasty but multiple dishes missing, never answered the phone....ruined the night. Won't order with you again.

Weird when there were previous staff going years back, that they used to take time to cook dishes say 20 - 30mins in, and they were excellent, but now I have noticed they are done in like 10 mins or less. I think they finally have since cleaned out the oven as the nan bread wasn't burned the last time, BUT it is quite obvious that they are reheating pre-cooked sauces, you might think this saves time, but I can tell the difference, especially when it starts to cool, there is a horrible gelling after-taste that always seems to linger there. I have brought home many different dishes from this place but all have smelled like a microwaved gravy. I wish they'd make some effort, people are prepared to wait for quality. Also, half their kebabs are onion, obiovusly to make it look like there's more to it. Don't ask for a large.

Delivery not after 10.3o tried to cancel order wouldn't refund back back straight after ordering terrible service will not be ordering again lost 30 odd pound didn't even try to resolve problem not clear on site no delivery after 10.30

We ordered a take away here while staying nearby. The food was fresh and beautiful. Good value highly recommend

Really good takeaway! Well priced, tasty food and they deliver. Never had a bad meal from them, curries always have big chunks of chicken!!

Good extremely bland. More like a soup, one of the worst curries I’ve ever had. Very disappointing as we had been looking forward to trying the local curry house whilst on holiday.

Only indian takeaway in the town so as newcomers we thought we'd give it a try. The food was very nice. The prices however were a bit eye watering for a local takeaway.

Cheap yes and big portions but that doesn't mean quality, I ordered chicken buhna and the chicken was so tough and not tender at all, the naan bread is so chewy it feels like you're chewing a Condom, curry was flat and flavourless, rice was okay though, I've ordered twice off them and meat is always overcooked and tough, will avoid this place from now on.

Two had the set meal Thali. Chicken Tikka acceptable, could do with better sauce. Other dishes tasteless, naan bread consistency of the sole of my trainers. On the positive side, portions were generous if you want a cheap filling meal, service was pleasant with around 15 minutes wait for freshly cooked food, with premises very clean at least in the public areas. We will not visit again until we see more positive Tripadvisor reviews, there is plenty of competition in Kidwelly for this place, we just hope that they are not all this awful! Payment by card only available for online orders.

We ordered from Taj Mahal while staying at Tanylan Farm. I was amazed when they allowed delivery to us on Just Eat. The prices were reasonable, food was hot and tasty. Good for a quick takeaway when on our holidays.

Called here last night. Two starters two mains. Starters of Sheek kebabs were ok. Mains of Chicken Korma and Lamb Bhuna were the worst we ever had .No effort Icould see large jars of Ptaks sauce sin the kitchen. No effort went into preparing these meals.

Wow, oh wow.Last night we ordered a takeaway from Taj Mahal Tandoori Take Away. Words cannot do it justice but I will try ......This was the best Lamb Madras and Lamb & Chicken Shakuti I have ever had!It wasn’t just me but 3 others who thought the same.Delivered early, very reasonably priced and the highest quality!Well done from all at the Croft!

Food has been poor on last 2 visits. On visit 1 the chicken was tough (ordered chicken dhansak & chicken pathia). On visit 2, the chicken chat was poor quality - chicken was in chunks not slices & did not taste of chat massala.

Stayed with friends locally and ordered a take out from the Taj. It was on time when collecting it and was piping hot. The food did not disappoint. We ordered the Kochi Murg and the Chicken Chat and the flavours were very distinct and fresh. Will definitely be back again. Good portion size too. Really delicious, thank you

What a gem. We come from the balti capital of England so KNOW our stuff! We are curry conisures and tried them when we first moved to the area. We were not disappointed the food is cooked confront of you in a fab open kitchen area .The food is really lovely and staff very personable . GREAT FOOD CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO LOCALS AND TOURISTS.WE

A little confused why this is classed as a restaurant but regardless me and the family ordered a takeaway from here one day and the food was nice, nothing amazing but what we expected

Stayed at the parkdean resort so decided to see what there was in the nearest village. Came across this place and am so pleased we did. Good food and good service. There's also a delivery service which I think I might use next time

I had a delivery from here last night and I have had to write a review. This is probably one of the best and most authentic Indians I have had for a very long time , the food was fresh and extremely tasty, will defo be returning.

Am very fussy with indian food and quite buyest to the one I usually order from at home. But this take away was close to our holiday park and give it a go. And it was amazing. Had a madras and pilau rice with chips. Curry was beautiful and very hot. Would definitely recommend if in the kidwelly area.

I came here with some friends just looking to have a quick Indian and didn't expect much. But honestly every single curry we had was fantastic, flavour was great, service was good and friendly too. The food was made in front of us and they even threw in a couple of extra poppadoms because they asked and found out we were out of town. Definitely would recommend. Best set of curries I've had in a long time.

Coming from the midlands we were disappointed by the curry . Sorry but we will not be recommending . The garlic bread was way too garlicy , the rest did not live up to our expectations either.

We ordered in a very busy time but were surprised with how quick we got our order. Excellent service from staff and high quality food. Highly recommend to any other travelling around kidwelly. Ive never been to an open kitchen before, It was great to see the chefs cooking the food in front of your eyes so that was a nice experience.

I love Indian food and we have used this Take-away for years. Their was a spell when the quality dropped and we were bereft, as there is no-where else near their standard. It is now well back on track and the food is once again second to none. The staff are wonderful and service is excellent. I have eaten Indian food all over the UK and abroad have never had better.

Whilst on holiday here we got a take away for 12 people (8 adults and 4 children) and it was excellent. Nothing dodgy and flavours were really good. I love that fact they cook in front of you.i've eaten curry in a lot of places and although this is 'standard British' curry, nothing terribly different from what you'd get in any town in Britain, it was really good.Would recommend to anyone.

We stayed at Carmarthen Bay Holiday Camp & this was the only takeaway place to deliver there. They were excellent. Found our chalet & the food was scrumptious.

We ordered 5 dishes from here while on holiday in Kidwelly. Two dishes were to be lamb, but they had run out! Initial disappointment was forgotten however, when we ate the alternative dishes - it was divine! Huge portions with plenty of meat, and the naan breads were fat, fluffy and amazing :) Everyone cleared their plates. I want this take away in my home town!

We were staying on the nearby park resort. We ordered a takeaway from taj mahal who charge a fantastic £2 delivery charge which when you see the road to get to the site is excellent. 5 adults were more than satisfied with the meals which with delivery came to £42. Excellent value and excellent food. Highly recommended.

We were in town sightseeing and spotted the Taj and thought it would be a nice dinner option. We thought the overall price a bit high. Our samosas were nice but we did not particularly enjoy our Balti or dal, both missing subtle flavours? The premises are very clean and the kitchen on display. However, I really hate paying a 50p surcharge for credit card! This is the first time on our trip! YMMV

The food here was very tasty, there were four of us staying nearby and we had four different main meals all of which were very tasty. Also the food was piping hot which I always like... nothing worse than a take away which is lukewarm by the time you open it !!There is an excellent choice on the menu and the starters and main dishes are large sized.The premises is located on the main street through Kidwelly but note parking can be difficult as it is a narrow street and there are several different food outlets in the same stretch of street. There is a car park in the side street near the premises.It is worth noting that you can clearly see the dishes being prepared as it is an open plan kitchen, always a good sign.,Only point to note that although a delivery service is available it can take some time when busy, also I recommend you telephone your order through to save the wait at the premises.

pleasant staff but poor quality food, everything tasted the same. I had two different meals yet the curry sauce had no difference, the onion bhagee's were great but there was something just not right with the samosa's we didn't eat them. I would recommend going into Llanelli and go to Masala restaurant.

The food is amazing, the meat is always so tender, the lamb dishes are excellent!! They have an open kitchen which is great and you can see how clean it is!! The staff are really friendly and always treat the children to a lolly whilst we wait for our order..........which has never been more than 15 minutes even when they are busy

Just wandering through Kidwelly high street, saw this takeaway, thought why not! Although it's quite a small place, you could eatch the food being cooked. When we got back to our holiday home, the food was amazing! Bit of a surprise really, as the takeaway was empty, which isn't always a good sign. So, never judge a book by it's cover! Would definitely go back, best curry we've had for a long time

They refused to deliver to our holiday home less than 3 miles away (even though it says free delivery for 3 miles). Thought I'd drive to pick up because of good reviews. This is NOT a 4.5 star takeaway. Had a set menu for two. Quite a lot of food for two people for £22.95, but it felt like an Indian takeaway from the 1980s in terms of the quality. Poor quality grizzly lamb Bhuna, passataish tikka masala with no yoghurt. No chutneys with the poppadoms. It filled us up but was pretty disappointing.

I have used this place for several years, and have yet to have a bad meal there. If you are not sure, the chef will help you decide.

very clean food rating was 5 the staff were very welcoming and friendly although I am not sure if they deliver (to be honest I had a little drink that night ) but would definitely go there again :)

Staff friendly and helpful; open kitchen area behind the counter shows they are serious about food hygiene (they have a 4 star food hygiene rating). Food very nice, with good portions. The garlic lamb balti was very nice, as were the chicken tikka and chicken dhansak.

We regularly have take always from here. The food is fabulous, plentiful and good value for money. The kochi murg is our absolute favourite.

Watch them cook! I recommend the chicken dishes over the other meats.Most dishes are mild/mildly spicy, so if your tastes are on the hot side, then be clear you order just that.

We stayed in Llanysul for a week and wondered if the Indian would be as we have encountered elsewhere I have to say we were really impressed with the quality of the food and taste.Please don't be put off by the exterior, the food was really good, we had a chicken tikka masala and a paneer jalfreizi with matter paneer, rice and bread and found all of it to be really good, on this experience I would definitely visit and eat here againPlease note it is takeaway and cash onlyRegards

We have used this Indian take away for many years and have never been disappointed with the quality of food. All dishes are prepared in an open kitchen with upto 6 chefs working at peak times.Orders are prepared on time and staff could not be more friendly.We have many take aways closer to home but the high standards of the Taj Mahal Tandoori Take-Away over the years make us loyal customers.

Just OK, nothing special. Wife cooks better curries at home. I won't be going again. Nothing special.

We both ordered Balti's but they were virtually tasteless. Really bland. The chapattis's were far too thick and doughy. We just binned them and put it down to experience. (£18.20 for the 2 meals)

Our extended family with varying tastes were catered for very well - we live near Leicester - a Curry Capital City - so have high expectations and Taj Mahal met them!

This was a very nice meal that myself and my family had last night.My only criticism was that my chicken tikka masala had a smokey flavour that normally isn't there.It tasted like too much smoked paprika, this unfortunately was not to my taste so would not have this dish from here again. However my family members said that their lamb rhogan josh was perfect.....also they only gave mint yoghurt (that was very very good) with the poppadoms as normally most other places give a chutney and finely chopped onions.I would recommend and I would use again.

I was staying part with my family in Mynyddygarreg. For the last night we decided to have an Indian takeaway from The Taj Mahal, Kidwelly. Now coming from Leicester, which boasts over 240 Indian restaurants, I reckon I can spot a good one from a bad one and this I am happy to say is a very good one. We ordered 12 meals which they dealt with without any problem. It has an open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked. I had a tandoori chicken starter, lamb rogan josh with onion fried rice. The chicken was cooked well yet moist and very tasty. The lamb was melt in the mouth, there was enough of it and the sauce was good - lightly spiced with a hint of heat. It didn't split and there was very little oil.Everyone else's meal was very good also.

Whenever I fancy a take away, there is no question as to where I go. I've been a regular here for years and have never had a bad experience. My family from out of town even say its the best Indian they have ever tasted. Would definitely recommend.

A hidden gem, tucked away in sleepy Kidwelly. All of the food is cooked freshly to order and you can watch the chefs cooking it - the smell alone is amazing! Menu is traditional North Indian/North West Frontier - all the dishes you'd expect and more besides. They also do kebabs - and they are epic! It's open every day 5pm-11pm. All of the locals eat food from here and sometimes the queue stretches right down the road. They have a Master Chef Award and a food hygiene rating of 5. We live nearby and eat from here regularly - never had a bad meal - always delicious. Two of my sons have lived in Manchester and eaten on the Curry Mile - both say this could rival or better anything from there. Fast, efficient and very polite service. Some waiting seating available. Car park just around the corner. Excellent value for money and superb food.
