Tahini in Dundee City

Only recently discovered Tahini. Actually made a booking due to walking past and the smell emanating from there was delicious. So glad I did! Tonight was my second visit in a month. Absolutely outstanding! Food was tremendous. Servers went above and beyond. Felt so welcomed and looked after, couldn't do enough for us. Couldn't manage to finish the set meal so have leftovers for tomorrow. Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. Hidden gem!

High quality, tasty, and always reliable - Tahini is a stalwart in this city where options for dining out are worryingly slim. Luckily, you can always count on a visit to Tahini to get great service, great food and you'll leave feeling stuffed to the gills!

Without exaggeration, this was the nicest, most satisfyingly tasty and reasonably-priced dining experience my wife and I have had in years…potentially ever. Looking forward to the next visit! Special thanks to Lori, (Tahini’s manager), who is outstanding.

The hot chocolate itself was of a fair quality, the froth was quite reasonably done, and the temperature being admirably hot, albeit the overall chocolatiness was perhaps lacking, with the consistency being passable. Overall a 5.5/10, however the added watermelon and blueberries were very nice 😁

Recommended this hidden gem buy staff at our hotel (mallmasion) booked a table for 6pm arrived and was greeted by a lovely staff member cosy little restaurant ordered our food partner had chicken dishes myself I had mixed chicken lamb dish both were served quickly hot and amazing flavours also given free turkish delights 😊

Don't know why this place isn't busier! Very good food at reasonable prices, and decent size portions. Always pleasant service, quick and polite. Being so quiet doesn't make for a great atmosphere, but everything else is great.

Wow, absolutely beautiful place, a genuine credit to Dundee city. Visited here today after having birthday plans in Edinburgh fall through due to bad weather and I was not disappointed. The vegan options were genuinely outstanding compared to some of Dundee's other counterparts, we shared the 3 course tapas deal which was only £21.95 per person, and it was well worth the money. Falafel, houmous and baba ganoush were incredible. Great service also and waitress very attentive, would highly recommend here if you are a vegan / vegetarian or just simply looking for tasty and authentic food.

I left a really good review of this restaurant two years ago, I am revising this to the lowest possible rating, as I have learned that the management steal all of the tips, and NONE is distributed to the staff. This practice is, frankly, disgusting.

Fabulous Lebanese food and really lovely staff. We went spontaneously and managed to snag a table, but will now definitely be going back. Fab!

Booked Tahini for lunch yesterday on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. We had a delicious lunch - ordered 2 starters and a main to share and enjoyed a glass of wine each. When next in Dundee we’re coming back for more baba ganoush and falafels. Oh and service was lovely.

Had dinner here while visiting Dundee. A lovely experience. Comfortable place to dine in. Very welcoming. Had a falafel wrap. Generous portion. Good taste.

Took my daughter for a birthday lunch , and we both enjoyed our meals .staff were even efficient quick service but not rushed .

I’ve been to Tahini a couple times, and as an adventurous eater I was pleasantly surprised by all the different options they offered for Tapas (and the great value for money too). When we wanted anything extra on top of the set Tapas (extra samosas/dip/flatbread etc) it was free. The first time I ate vegetarian and they had plenty options to cater for this. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the food.

Great food, great atmosphere. However, I asked for all gluten free food as I am coeliac and have suffered for my lack of knowledge. Chips cooked in a fryer still have gluten on them from other foods regardless of the temperature. I thought it was strange when the waiter convincingly told me gluten gets burned off. Will not make that mistake again. Will definitely return as I cannot fault what was my lack of prep.

Myself, partner and son went to Tahini's for a spot of lunch. I've been wanting to visit for a while. Even more since my partner told me how tasty it was ( the little sneak went without me 😂) My son being the fussy 9 year old brought his happy meal from McDonald's. The staff were lovely about that and showed us to a table. I ordered a tabouleh for a starter which was lovely and fresh. The taste of lemons with the Bulger wheat, tomatoes , cucumber and parsley. For my main I had a lamb and chicken laffa with rice. This was my favourite! The sauce was delicious. I would highly recommend. And for pudding I had baklava to take home since the portion were so big and filling. (That is my no means a complaint!) Can't wait to come back!

So.... Whilst the other half was in Hospital for Surgery, I decided to enjoy myself and head for some food. Walking around Dundee for a while, I remembered a restaurant me and her often walk past, that smelled amazing each time. Always said we would try it, anyway I will for the both of us :D Walked in and the atmosphere was really nice, for a Thursday Evening it was quiet. I was seated promptly, and the waitress came along with a nice jug of water. The menu is small, but it all looks good, couldn't say there was anything I wouldn't eat. Waitress had asked what I would like, sometimes, and I mean sometimes I am happy for someone else to pick, so I said "You pick something, just don't tell me what it is" Wow she said, and went off with a smile. The lassie came with the first course, "This is called, Baba Ghanoush" It was her favourite, To be honest, I just thought that is what Owen Wilson Called Vince Vaugh in Wedding Crashers, but nope, its an actual Starter. So, my thoughts on Baba Ghanoush. It looked good, White paste, with an olive in the middle, looked like some Olive Oil, and some seasoning. Actually looked like a Porridge, no Idea why I was expecting it to be sweet. Anyway it tasted like Porridge and Humus, not what I was expecting, Weirdly Its made from neither of these, actually made from Egg Plant, now that was a Surprise. I don't think I will order that again, My next course was a Chicken Shawarma, this looked amazing, and to be honest, it tasted EVEN BETTER..... Chicken Shawarma, Rice, 4 dips, and some bread, and to be honest I could have ate this twice over. Rice tasted amazing, One of the dips (Red One) tasted like Pakora Sauce, but alot better. I think there was a Humus and Garlic dip, first time I have tasted that, again cannot complain with that at all. there was a white dip, wish I caught the name, but never, I think large chunks of vegetables, wasn't too keen on it, but was tasty. Ended the meal with Baclava. All in all, I WILL be back, I will miss out the Baba Ghanoush, and try something else. but Server was amazing, Place was Amazing. EDIT..... Been again just this week 28/10/23 and again was just amazing, can 100% recommend the mixed laffa, literally have never tried anything like it in my life. Also updated with 4 new images Taboulli, lamb samosas, mixed laffa and chicken... Decided this time to take the ball and chain with me

Great meal, friendly service, nice atmosphere. Would be 5 star but after 9 the menu reduces to a double tapas selection which is too much for one person and a touch pricey at £21. Otherwise would be great value for 2.

We entered on the spur of the moment just before 5pm on a Friday. They were able to offer us a table, the place did get busy later on. We had the four course fixed menu. Not knowing what we were going to get we didn't pace ourselves and the flat breads in the first course filled us up, by the time all the meats came in the third course - we were in trouble. Completely stuffed by the end of the meal. The tip of the day is to pace yourself and not fill your faces on course one.

Great food and excellent service!

Ordered 4 starters and 4 Mains. Awful Awful Experience. Paid almost £70 and all the food, salads Soggy. Spoke to the waitress she said sorry everything is fresh and couldn’t care less. Stew was lumpy and cold. Probably not reheated properly either. Would have expected a bit better service in atleast warming the food or changing the last bits of the salad they served. Very disappointed as read such good reviews. Wasted money.

I adore Tahini. I've had the pleasure of visiting twice this year. Ideal venue for a date, birthday meal or catch up / celebration with friends or family. Its a set menu, with four courses. Smaller restaurant, so there are only a few tables available - highly recommend that you place a booking in advance to guarantee as it's rightfully popular. The size adds to the warmth, cosiness and character of the physical space. It's centrally located too. Faitl priced for the service and standard of food you get - roughly £30-40 per person but absolutely worth it everytime. Service is welcoming, warm and prompt. The staff are very willing to attend to your every need and request, and have consistently gone above and beyond. The food has been consistent, well presented and delicious across the last three times I've visited - an incredible, mouth watering array of tapas style dishes. Cannot recommend it enough. One of my top restaurant picks.

If there is one place you must visit when in Dundee it’s this amazing restaurant, wonderful atmosphere for such a small place and great service but best of all fantastic food. The fixed menu was just wonderful. We were fortunate to get a table at the last minute but I recommend you book as it’s a very small restaurant. I can give nothing less than five stars as it was a perfect evening for us.

Beautiful atmosphere, falafel was fresh crispy and delicious, but mix shawarma was insult to shawarma , just as dry chicken curry with bread , that should not be called shawarma . Coffee was best .

For me it's a great experience every time. Tasty food, great food variety, as I get tapas most of the times.

Very disappointed at food. I ordered mixed kebab at 1 o'clock (restaurant opened at 12) and it was so dry, clearly not cooked fresh but had been heated up. And a white wine at £43!!! Not be going there again

Lovely little resturant, feels quite rustic/authentic. Yes there are a few tables and the restaurant isn't huge, but more than enough space. Set menu- huge amount of food for 2 people, we managed nearly all of it , thankfully dessert is a wee baklava and watermelon slice as any more would be fair to much. The babagaboush is INSANE , so delicious. I loved the cold meze starter best but my partner really loved the hot meze and grill. Lots of different tastes and all fresh tasting. The grill meat is all covered in the same spice, but wasn't a problem for us as by this point, already tried so many flavours! For £27.50 per person, seems a fantastic deal. Service was quick and friendly, as described by my partner as ' she was there when you wanted her but not too much!' Yes alcohol is a wee bit on the more expensive side with a large wine coming in at £7.50. But Lemon ice tea was delish and only £3.50. Will 100% return next time we are passing Dundee.

Great Lebanese food and wonderful service!

Tahini serve a 4 course tapas menu consisting of Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes. Every dish tasted great, we had the vegan tapas that were very tasty. The tapas is exceptional value for money we struggled to finish all the dishes. Would highly recommend to vegans.

So much food and so tasty! The waitress Laurie was so friendly and happy to help as well which was so nice!

Quick service. Good food. Better choice would be a bonus. I booked over the phone but it wasnt explained to me what to expect from the set menu. Turns out it was 4 courses of sharer platters. It was nice but not really worth the £60 it cost.

Visited on a Tapas Tuesday night. Didn't get much time to look at the options or know what was in the dishes but we went for the four courses option: 6 x cold bowls, 6 x hot bowls, followed by chicken & lamb with salad and finishing with dessert. They did check for any allergies or preferences. All of the courses were super tasty. Would probably go on a non Tapas night, our preference, so we could choose our food. Would probably miss the dessert next time.

I'm only deducting a star because of the bizzare choice to have the main light fixture be blue, which kinda put all food in an unappetising light. I'm practically begging the owner to set the LED strips to a warmer cozy light (pretty please!) to match the rest of the place. I'd be having dinner there every week!

My favourite place to go for food, the staff are so lovely and helpful, service is 11/10, the food is absolutely to die for and I can't believe how little it costs for the quality you get - in every sense. It's such a homely vibe but very professional. Laurie and Lily are my favourite staff every time I come in they're so great. Highly recommended Tahini to everyone, best place in Dundee.

Cute little place with a chill atmosphere. A bit slow business being a Monday night maybe. Some light house music and interesting things to look at around the place. The waitress was quite friendly and quick to serve. When we got there they said they are only doing set menus, which was a little disappointing at first. The options were a four course meal or two course meal, and a little on the expensive side at 22 for 2 courses and 27 for 4. We opted for the two course cheaper option and it was quite good. The hot food set (six small dishes) was delicious and served quite fast. The mixed grill was ok....the chicken was quite dry and a bit disappointing though. In the end the amount of food was enough for two to be reasonably satisfied... They have vegetarian options, though we did not opt for these. Drinks were quite overpriced, again a bit disappointing, so we just had water.

Lovely food. Sunday set menu was way too much food for me but all of it tasted great.

To start. Various Meddle Eastern (Lebanese) dishes, served with sweet flat bread. Followed by. Another tray full of dishes, including chicken rice and, new to me, lamb rice. Which was delicious. Plus halloumi, meat balls in sauce, potatoes etc. Then came. A dish with lamb chops, chicken accompanied by a sour minty sauce and a garlic sauce. By this time we were flagging so we didn't make a big dent in the meat. To finish. There was tea (we had mint) and coffee, which was excellent. And a dish of, Mellon, strawberry, Hvala and what we know as Turkish delight. Wow! So much food and all of it flavoursome. We arrived early and we're glad we'd done so, because it was full by the time we staggered out.

The food is so delicious I felt guilty about leaving any leftovers! The set meze courses were bursting with flavor; perfect for sharing with family or friends. The service was exceptional.

Enjoyed the meal but I think I have been spoilt with my Shawarma's from my local Lebanese . The bread wasn't freshly made and the chicken was cooked in a sauce not what I am used too. It was very nice and very tasty even a little bit too spicy if I had any compliant. We was a little rushed as they had a booking in an hour after we got there. So we felt like we couldn't relax as much as we would have liked too. The young girl who served us was a darling though and couldn't do enough for us. I didn't take her name but she was from Ireland

From start to finish the experience was fantastic. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and the service was so quick, the whole team worked like clockwork meaning every table was happy and the atmosphere was great. The food was incredible, if you're in dundee for one day I'd highly recommend Tahini. Their rice was the best I've probably ever had in my life and the hummus the same. Everyone who works here deserves a big fat raise. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Visited with a friend for lunch, friendly welcome from staff. Ordered a Chicken Shish Taouk, marinated chicken skewers with peppers and onion, salad, flat bread garlic mayo and spicy salsa, with option of fries or rice,and a Bamia (vegetarian) Okra stew, salad, arabic bread and spices, all our food was freshly made and delicious. Very good platefuls of tasty food, enjoyed with a glass of wine and an O J,also enjoyed complimentary cake and dates,server was luvly, chatty and attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, Recommend a visit here, a luvly restaurant :) :)

This has to have been the best meal out we’ve ever had. We managed to get the last table after a chance enquiry on Saturday night and I’m SO glad we did! The staff were really attentive and friendly without hovering over you constantly. They don’t have a menu in the evenings and the meal was a 4 course meze with one course cold, one hot, one grilled meats and one dessert, but we had to raise the white flag after the 3rd course because we literally couldn’t eat another bite, but we were offered tea or coffee instead of the dessert. My husband is a horrendously fussy eater so I was prepared for him not eating much, but he practically inhaled every course! The dishes were all delicious and the staff avoided most of the tomato based dishes as my husband can’t eat them, but any tomato dishes were brought to the table in a separate dish for me. Can’t praise the experience enough and will definitely be back, probably for lunch though because you can choose how many courses you have 10/10

Not only was the food incredible, but all of the waiting staff were an absolute delight. Came for dinner with two other pals and got the two course sharing meeze, delish, and plenty of food. We ordered the veggie option, but they still brought out a couple extra meat options for my friend. Highly recommend if you want a relaxed meal in Dundee!

Fantastic meal ! I ate here at 5pm on a Monday night with a friend. Unknown to myself in the evening they serve a four course set meal only. This consists of a selection of cold & hot meze, followed by a mixed grill & coffee or tea & a selection of desserts. The food was delicious, with generous portions. This restaurant is small, with a nice atmosphere. There are only about 6 or 7 tables, so it would be advisable to book, as it got busy during our time there. I have eaten here before at lunch time and there is a good menu to choose from. The meal for two with two beers & two soft drinks came to £74, so very reasonable. It's now my go to place for a lovely evening when I visit Dundee.
