What do you need from the center and you have to book before you arrive? The place is right The important thing is that the taste and atmosphere are indescribable. If the English employee messes with you, talk to the Moroccans.

Tagine restaurant is now my number one spot to go for a nice and good price dinner The food was cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of spices and they let me keep a fez they had their I would reccomed this spot as a good middle Eastern restaurant that never disappoints any Time ten out of ten defiantly recommend

Great food lovely decor and bring your own wine

One of my favourite restaurants in Balham. The Algerian & Moroccan food is so delicious. The Owener is very nice guy and the stuff very kind. Food always on time. You can take your own drink (wine, beer, etc)

The dining experience had its ups and downs. The food, while average, lacked a bit of that extra flavor for my taste. On a positive note, the prompt food service was commendable, and the drinks were delightful. However, there were hiccups like a delay in my friend's order, which was a tad disappointing. The prolonged wait for the bill (25 mins) was a drawback, and the customer service seemed a bit stretched. The atmosphere, though okay, had flickering lights and less-than-ideal restroom conditions. The cramped seating and small chairs made it less comfortable, and my coat frequently ended up on the floor. Unfortunately, the close proximity of tables left little breathing space. Overall, the experience had its drawbacks, and I might explore other options next time.

They have a fantastic taste in Moroccan cuisine, and a “bring your own bottle” policy. It is my favourite local restaurant.

Was really excited to go to tagine and been waiting for months! Unfortunately they really missed the mark.. we were sat downstairs on small chairs with a low table, we both got bad back pain really quickly. It was noisy with music and we couldn’t hear each other. There were also big groups dining downstairs so they were standing around loudly chatting over us, felt like we’d accidentally gone to a party with no invite. We hoped the food would make it better but the main came out cold and was dry but the next time we saw the staff was when they started banging drums and chanting for the parties… so we left - a ruined date night!

Need to sort out their booking system. Booked a week in advance, received email confirmation and a reminder a few days before, but the restaurant had not written down our booking. Space downstairs I was offered is unpleasant, there wasn't enough space to sit properly & it was very loud. I offered to wait until a table became available upstairs, but I was told (in a very rude way) that wasn't possible and it was my fault for "only" booking a week (!) in advance (despite confirmation!). No apology for their mistake, I was made to feel very unwelcome. Another member of staff said she had no idea why her colleague had said that and upstairs tables usually became available later, which makes her attitude even more unacceptable. We left as the general atmosphere was so poor.

We really enjoyed our evening there.The food was amazing, every single tajine was pure joy, the quality of the ingredients, the attention paid to the combinations and the details down to the plating... The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The kids were blown away by food and loved the atmosphere so much. I would definitely recommend it! Top restaurant! Ziezo tajine is een van de beste plaatsen waar we ooit zijn geweest.. De sfeer is gezellig, mooie en kleurrijke interieur, super vriendelijke bediening. De gerechten zijn subliem. De kwaliteit van ingrediënten, smaken, presentatie..ongelooflijk super!Noord-Afrikaanse keuken op zijn best. Een echte aanrader! De kinderen waren nooit zo tevreden en onder de indruk! Wij komen zeker terug!!

This is the first time my kids asked me to rate a restaurant and give it a 5 stars; they loved every bit of it: the decor was original with attention to details, the service very friendly and the food more than delicious. If you are in for a north africain cuisine (Algerian or Moroccan), Zizo Tagine is a best I’ve ever experienced.

The place does not serve wine due luck of licence but accept BYO and the food is amazing at fair price, the restaurant normally is quiet but love the atmosphere and decor, the service is slow but the food is worth the journey.

Went here for an Xmas work do last night and only had the table for around 2 hours. Was really cosy upstairs in the corner with a low table. It's BYOB which is great and the decor felt very authentic. Food was delicious and tasted better than the tagines I'd had in Morocco a couple of months ago. The starters were delicious and the zaalouk was wonderfully smoky. The beetroot cubes had a dash of rosewater which was lovely combination. I was slightly disappointed that the pitta bread was shop bought and thought they would have made their own khobz. My seabass tagine tasted like it had been slow cooked for hours and craving another one today. The addition of fennel paired really well with the fish. My colleagues had lamb on the bone served with a whole pear which looked like a great combination. I was a little disappointed that the sweets tasted a mass produced (not sure whether they were), but they were totally overshadowed by the mains. Tagine is definitely worth a revisit and would like to try the à la carte menu next time.

Cozy place with nice atmosphere , reasonable prices and friendly staff , was pleasant meal ( I like food there is very delicious ) I recommended this place for any one who is looking for traditional Moroccan dishes.

Authentic Tagine but very expensive for what you get. We arrived at 7:30 and didn't leave until 11:30, the service was very slow.

Tagine is a fantastic gem 💎. Wonderful service, amazing food and you can bring your own bottle of wine/fizz 🍷 🍾. 2nd timer and yes there will be a 3rd, 4th....... Stop reading these reviews and just book.

If you have not been here to eat, why not? It has great food, great service and is great for celebrations. BYOB but don't worry Sainsbury's is only 2mins away! This has always been a great place to eat with the family and friends.

Amazing food - great flavour, quality. Normally difficult to find proper authentic Moroccan food - so lucked out with this place. We ordered 4 tagines between 6 people, plus starters, and portion size was great. Definitely ask about the specials - so good, great balance and depths of flavour.

Take it from a Moroccan; besides the furniture, THEY DO NOT SERVE MOROCCAN FOOD!

I understand that restaurants get busy on a Saturday night but I don’t think 30 minutes to still have a menu and not even be given the chance to order a drink is acceptable. We ended up leaving and got served our food and drinks well within 30 minutes at a different restaurant.

Absolute gem in the middle of Balham here. Food was excellent. Recommend either the chicken or lamb shank tagine with a side of green beans and potatoes. YOU WILL BE FULL. A good full. It’s BYOB too. Winner. It was our mates birthday and they let us bring a cake. They turned the lights down and cranked the traditional music up, got the drums and whistles out, while we all got up and danced. Was unbelievable. Great service. Great location. Superb food. Get in there.

Waited 20 mins after sitting down with no menu. Had to go up and ask a woman for it. They had 1 table or maybe 5 people other than us. When we ordered wine and some 2 starters we were told “sorry we are too busy rn” my and my friend in disbelief started smiling at each other thinking she was joking. She wasn’t. She was like you have to have 2 courses which we didn’t want. We left immediately and waisted our time. Luckily fanco manca was around the corner!

If you don’t wanna fly out ! You can experience Moroccan spices at Tagine ! Feels like home ! I am Moroccan and I love my culture and home food ! There is no where in London you can taste the real Moroccan flavour ! Only at Tagine restaurant Balham ! It’s an honest and real feedback and I would give 10 out of 10 ! Definitely coming back again and again and again !

If you want authentic Tagine then this is the place to come! Celebrated two occasions last night at Tagine a birthday and a Gcse results day took two cakes there and what a celebration!!! The live music twice to bring the cake in rocked the whole restaurant such a brilliant end to the dinner and celebrations. The food outdid the food I have tasted in Marrakesh with such authentic tastes. Everything we had was bursting of flavours. Naseer who took care of us throughout was lovely and wonderful and ensured we had a very good evening 🙏 Hats off to the owner who was very pleasant who has made everything at Tagine Authentic. This will now become a a very regular spot for us (although we live just over 30 mins away🙈). A few minor points :) It is a BYOB. And do check with any Tip charges beforehand. One way Road but parking available all around and free yellow line after 6.30pm.

If there was more stars I would give them 10. The food is amazing,staff friendly and polite. The decor transforms you as if you are actually in Morocco,not in Balham. I cannot wait to go again and try the other tasty dishes.

How amazing! I went to Tagine with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. We didn't have a reservation and all the tables were occupied, so we have been offered a table at the floor downstairs - where they normally organise private parties; I loved the atmosphere, the decors and every single detail of this place! The food was just.... Excellent. I had a vegetarian cous cous while my boyfriend had a mixed grill and we both were absolutely amazed by the taste. We also shared some mezze - delicious. Nevertheless.... Amazing service. Not sure about the name of the lady who served us, but she was super nice and explained us different types of moroccan dishes, making some suggestions for our next visit. We'll definitely be back!

This place has a captivating Moroccan ambiance as soon as you step inside. The food, though I'm not a Moroccan food specialist, felt genuinely authentic. However, the meat dishes were quite heavy, with a generous amount of meat that was more than our taste preferences. While the food was good, it didn't reach the level of being truly spectacular.

Absolutely incredible food, it was delicious. I had the Tangine Djaj and it was perfectly done. Highly recommended, the restaurant has a nice ambiance (and a nice restroom too). Edit: We went for a birthday, and the celebration was very extra and over the top! It was awesome and very thoughtful!

Great service from really great and motivated staff who made the great atmosphere even friendlier. When they found out it was our friend’s birthday they put on a great song and dance for us which left us feeling great!

Great but took too long to get the food

This restaurant was suggested by a friend. We were there early evening, so not much atmosphere at that time. Service could have been a bit better, but the food made up for it. We had hummus for starters, lamb shank for mains, poached pear for dessert all were all delicious. Would definitely go again but at a later time for the atmosphere.

Everytime I come here it never misses. The service is lovely, warm while being professional. The place is clean and reminds me of Maghreb without being a parody. Food is good, warm and fresh. Thus expect a little wait in between dishes but 100% worth it. It allows you more time to appreciate the dishes being served. If coming during Ramadan, you are welcomed with delicious dates as well as a savoury chorba. The mint tea to digest is the perfect balance with sugar, mint and tea. And served the traditional way. 100% recommend. Don’t want to try any other tagine place in London.

My friend and I went for iftar (breaking fast) and literally sat down we were given soup dates water and yogurt. They were so hospitable and really good service Thank you guys and will be back soon

Unfortunately in our visit we didn't have the same experience other described. The grilled food was over cooked and tasted like ashes which is a sign the grill was not cleaned for a while. The soup was OK , but overall for the price I was certainly expecting more.

Sadly as other reviews point out the service is such a let down. We were doing BYOB and no one ever asked if we needed any soft drinks or water. After letting us look at the menu for 10 minutes the waiter came back to take orders and chose this moment to inform us that the house policy on Saturday nights is that each guest must order a starter AND a main. This was stated nowhere on the menu or the website and we felt very forced to order more food than we needed. The main were amazing but again after plates were cleared no one ever checked on us for desserts and we had to ask for the menu ourselves. Desserts were a let down, fig crème brûlée with barely any fig at all. All in all great food but the service was so poor I prob won’t be back.

Best lamb I’ve ever eaten in my life. Good customer service - highly recommend lamb shoulder. Only challenge is the table - can be a tight squeeze.

I went for dinner with some friends on a Saturday evening and overall it was an enjoyable experience. I decided on a starter and went for the Kefta Meshwiya which were 5 small beef meatballs which were supposed to come with a dip...but there was only an aromatic sauce underneath the meat, maybe that was the dip. The meat was nicely grilled and flavoursome, but at £7.50 I thought that for what I got it was a bit steep. For the main I chose the Couscous Zizou and it was a very filling dish and at £22 was just about the right price. I came with loads of couscous, a lovely melt in the mouth lamb shank that just fell off the bone, pieces of grilled chicken, a tasty beef sausage and boiled vegetables on top! Accompanied with that came a vegetable broth with more veggies and chickpeas in it. So, enjoyable experience but then why the 4 stars? The broth wasn't a broth in my opinion, more a puree of veggies which although was nice lacked any real flavour...it wasn't seasoned at all! Same for the lamb shank...was just rather bland! The dish lacked that final "oomph" to take it to the next level in my opinion. So, if you like your north African cuisine then definitely check this place out as ovrall it shouldn't disappoint you. The service was friendly and attentive. Strong 4 stars, not quite 5 for me.

Tonight was a special occasion for us. Fantastic experience and with special kudos to Danielle, our waitress, who couldn’t do enough for us - she made our night ridiculously special and we can’t thank her enough.

Food took about an hour to come and the music was soooo loud so probs don’t go if it’s a date 😳 But the lamb was literally amazing.

Came here for something light and we weren’t disappointed! Tagine have a really tasty vegetable mezze selection and I can’t wait to return to try the rest of the menu! I’d especially recommend the mint sahara fruit cocktail, it was absolutely phenomenal.

Zizou's Tagine restaurant is unique in London. The food is succulent and staff are very friendly. I would highly recommand but I also advise you to book in advance to avoid any disappointment.

The place is really really nice... just was very cold inside which makes us feel uncomfartable. Food great and morrocan mint tea amazing - I moved back to my morrocan adventure from the past! :)

I really enjoyed the experience here! The food was amazing, staff were very friendly and the decor and atmosphere made it feel like you were in Morocco. Food was excellent, i had the lamb shank which was very flavourful and the meat would fall off the bone with ease. The bread was very crispy and soft which complimented the meat and tomato sauce. Highly recommend trying this place out

Tagine was amazing. The food tasted so authentic. Full of flavours. It was an amazing vibe, with the music and the decoration. Definitely like being in Morocco. The service was amazing stuff was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed.

Below average food , Below average service…. Food was cold , tea was tasteless…. Bread was not Moroccan…. The whole atmosphere was very Meh …. The cook working while wearing his huge headphones…. Which was not that professional. Rumor has it that The wine opener is still on the table till now ….. cause god forbids we gonna touch a wine bottle.💁‍♂️ It’s a shame I spent that much money on Uber to visit this place …. Another disappointment…..

Food quality is fantastic, I'd highly recommend lamb shank tagine . Bit pricey and the only downfall is their customer service as when we ordered another thing by the end of our main course, we had to wait nearly 35 minutes to get it . Apart from it , all good 👍

Food was delicious, the decor and set up in the restaurant takes you to Marrakesh. The staff is very friendly and lovely. Would definitely recommend this place.

Our first time here and the food was excellent. We got the set menu for £35 each and not only the amount but the quality of food was excellent. Especially the soup to start! We also tried the alcohol free cocktails which were lovely. Great service too.

Rude, defensive staff. Overcharged us and their excuse was ‘how are we supposed to tell every customer that the menu price has changed?’. Had to chase desserts too as they handed us the bill after mains, when we were charged for desserts.

Nice little joint with outdoor seating in summer. The tagines were quite nice and have plenty of options to choose from. The mezes could have been better, but the tagines definitely made up for it!

Having driven past this place a number of times, and with a limited amount of Moroccan cuisine places in the area, I decided I'd take a visit for my birthday treat and was absolutely delighted with the food, service and ambience. Upon entry I was greeted by a warm welcome by a young man and given how hungry I was, I quickly decided on: Starters: Merguez (spicy sausage), Homous (good old classic) They both came out quite promptly and were delicious. For the mains, we went for: Lamb Tagine for two which consisted of 2 x Lamb shanks, with cous cous delivered in a clay pot. It took around 20 mins to arrive, but was worth the wait. Well cooked, with the lamb tender and well seasoned with a meaty sauce and saffron hint to it. I've got a big appetite and finished probs 3/4 of it with my other half the other 1/4. May want to order seperate dishes if you appetite isn't that big however. The whole place had a family feel and everyone serving us was smiling and genuinely interested in our experience. Will definitely go again and for lovers of North African cuisine in the area, would definitely recommend.

I visited Tagine in Balham for my birthday meal with my partner and from making a reservation over the phone to actually arriving to the restaurant the staff was incredibly nice. The food was also delicious, it was so long ago I had couscous and it was just perfect. My partner said it was the best lamb he had in a while! As it was my birthday they made sure I had a little candle and cake. It was honestly so nice of them. I even got to go home with a present 😉

Great food as before when I visited 4 years ago! Still have the BYOB policy which is an added bonus. Gem in the heart of Balham. Highly recommend

Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and great food! The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and cosy with great vibes and music. The staff is extremely friendly and you can see the chefs cooking behind. We had the mechouia which was simply done -as it should- an delicious. Fresh and tasty, packed with good olive oil. The vegetable tajine was full of flavour and actually cooked in the tajine -which is always a great sign! It was warm, flavourful and fresh. Couscous was perfectly cooked too. 100% recommend!

Over priced restaurant. Mixed meze is £17 which included 5 microscopic dishes. Sizes were so small I could not believe. Unfortunately, grilled meat was quite hard, too.

This place is incredible. I have been here ~10 times, and ordered different dishes every time. The food and vibe are amazing, and the staff are very warm and friendly. I really recommend all the tagines (the lamb ones are amazing) and the Couscous Zizou.

What a lovely night at this place. Super friendly staff and some exotic food we thoroughly enjoyed. We massively over-ordered but the food was absolutely delicious, especially their pot cooked lamb shanks. Excellent tea as well, highly recommended. The ambiente was really fitting and made this an exotic dinner. Please note that they do not sell alcoholic beverages at all but are happy for you to bring your own and enjoy in-house with your meal. There is a Sainsbury's just 2 minutes up the road where we picked up some wine. 5 stars and if I get the chance, I'll be back. Thanks guys.

We came here for a birthday meal and all of the food was excellent especially the Moroccan bread. It was a Wednesday night so was a little quiet. The service was very good.
