Tafarn Morlais in Carmarthenshire

Nice big plates, not a big serving and the meat cuts were something you expect from a frozen Sunday dinner from Iceland for £3.

Glad to see Tafarn Morlais reopen. Service excellent, food good. Only criticism, the chips, please do home cooked, as this would have been 10 out of 10.

Just found out open Wednesday too Sunday

Food shocking found out its changing hands soon to marsons. Fish was ok but teastes of burn oil fat chips were think they warmed up in microwave soft and oily. Misses food gammon was like looking like not cooked no colour to it and salty. All of the 10 of us had issues with food plus we were the only ones in the resturant. Shocking never going again.

I visited here for the first time with my husband as I recently moved to the area. We loved our meal it was delicious and the service was excellent. Being a vegetarian I had the red Thai curry with rice and chips. Food was piping hot. My husband is fussy with his steak and he's usually disappointed wherever we go but he thoroughly enjoyed his rump and it was cooked to perfection. After our meal we went into the cosy bar with a log burner blazing to have a very enjoyable few drinks. As it's within walking distance of my home we will definitely be returning. What a lovely place to have on my doorstep. Also being dog friendly is a gem and I'm sure we will be stopping off in the beer garden on our walks.

Stunning food service amazing can't wait for next visit

We arrived just before 1pm and left at 130pm. We had a drink order taken at 1:10pm, drinks we never received and our food order was never taken. They obviously don't have enough staff. Wasted our time!!!!

Booked a table here for 3 people on November 1st for Xmas Dinner December 4th . Was looking forward to it, and my daughter took a day off from work. On arrival to our dismay IT WAS SHUT no phone call nothing NADA all the lights were on , rang several times guess what ? NO ANSWER . How can you run a business? 3 very irate and stressed X customers.

A great venue for a mid-week lunch. The menu is really extensive and very reasonably priced. Perfect portion sizes. Service was good. Plenty of off-road parking.

This is our 'go to' place for food. Sunday Lunch is amazing with beautifully cooked meat and an excellent selection of vegetables. Staff are helpful and very friendly. The daily menu is extensive and Tafarn Morlais is one of the few places around these days that offers an alternative to chips, ie jacket potatoes or boiled potatoes. Brilliant for those people who are counting the calories!!!! Looking forward to the Christmas Fayre in December!!!

First time had Sunday lunch at tavern y morlais and was absolutely delicious, first class all home made so much to chose from, staff amazing 👏 and the chef coudnt do enough for us thank you so much will be coming back 👏👍

Had a lovely meal here this evening a party of us. Food was wonderful, service was excellent, very helpful polite quick. Lovely beer garden to sit in and enjoy the sun while we have it. Would highly recommend.

My partner and I were seated and had to wait quite a while to be able to order any drinks, then another while to order food and then quite another while for the food to arrive. Was not impressed with the food, I ordered lamb chops, well done, they were very fatty, greasy and like elastic and came with chips, asked for potatoes which they did change, but not an enjoyable experience. My partner ordered steak covered chips, unfortunately his steak if that's what it was, was so fatty and chewy, he couldn't eat. So sadly we will not be visiting again.

Absolutely stunning food at Tafarn Morlais and a great selection of dishes to choose from. The chef allowed me to taste the heat of the 'special hot curry' until it was the heat that I wanted and adjust as necessary. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Visited this place for carvery last week and the staff are soo friendly the carvery was outstanding perfect Sunday dinner with all the trimmings highly recomend this place for everyone lovely atmosphere also huge summer garden with comfy chairs and kids can play! We also came back for evening meal in week and that was fantastic food homemade chips and lasagne and the chicken chorizo linguine huge portions too delish we will be back to bring our friends and family for the carvery cannot say enough about this place cant wait to cone back very soon! 10 out of 10 😊👌 and dog friendly!,

The korma was like gravey chicken. Took it back and replaced with something else, but not great food.

8 people booked tonight, think the chef must be off as some starters and 7 meals were served wrong even though we had to pre order very surprised and disappointed as had several recommendations for the Tafarn

We had a lovely evening, staff were very attentive, food was fantastic thanks to the chef i could have something I'd never tasted because I can't eat cheese, but because the chef makes the food on the premises he made it to my liking, such a lovely evening. Thank you again

The Sunday carvery is one of the best I have tryed

The food was nice and prepared really quickly, the portions were quite generous. All the staff were friendly. I look forward to trying more from their menu.

What's happened to this pub ..very disappointed all round

Called in for food on the way home. Very poor standard of service. Waited for more than ten minutes to have drinks served, still waiting 30 minutes to place order for food. People arriving after us were being served before us. When we asked if we could place our order, we were told the 'chef' is too busy and we will have to wait. There were only TWO order slips above the serving hatch. WOW, honestly. I finished my drink and on the way home called in GREGGS. What a TOTAL waste of time and effort. STEER CLEAR. 0/5 is a true appraisal. Not Cheap and not Cheerful.

We were looking for a decent pub in the area to take a couple of friends to, and had been past this pub several times in the past so thought we’d give it a try. We’re very pleased we did. It’s a lovely pub, good standard, friendly staff, and conforms well to Covid safety regs. It has a large well laid out beer garden which ensures social distancing. We didn’t eat here on this occasion, but from what we saw of other customers meals they looked very good. We will definitely come here again and would recommend it. We returned yesterday evening with two other friends and had an absolutely excellent meal. Brilliant service, friendly staff and the food was perfect.

Popped into this Welsh pub, as my husband fancied a drink before leaving Wales for England. What lovely staff, how friendly and interactive with us, chat wise. Definitely visiting again in the near future for a meal. Lovely atmosphere.

Really disappointed with the food! The fish was dry and all food was under seasoned. The steak despite being done exactly how I ordered it was under seasoned as well. The waiter was great at explaining the delays and was very friendly but the food let them down big time!

We had a fab time at the Morlais. Dylan was very friendly and could not have done more for us! Would throughly recommend the morlais. Lovely food and big portions.

Very disappointing. Had to ask for cutlery. Mustard was served with a dessert spoon. The sauce on my Mediterranean Wellington (which I had to ask for a description; lots of things on the menu weren't described) was far too sweet. Many items weren't available (on a Saturday night). The jacket potato wasn't crispy. The staff started clearing up practically under our feet, along with putting on music in the kitchen at the same volume as the restaurant, making the whole experience very unenticing.

Very good food. Only disappointment was that the chips came shared (one dish for 2 persons). Edit: Reply to TM (Tafarn Morlais) response: I just would prefer each person to be served their own bowl of chips.

Had a meal yesterday with 10 others. They were busy but the service and food we had was outstanding. Very reasonably priced. Well done to the waiters and the Chef for a excellent afternoon.

A very sad day for my wife and I today! We called at the tafarn morlais ( one of our favorite places to visit in Llanelli!), only to be served by someone totally not interested in what the customers required ! Even after explaining TWICE what food we wanted he got it wrong!! My fish was chewy! Clearly indicating it was not cooked correctly, the peas ( which I did want!) Were hard! The batter was very brown and was so hard my teeth ached after!! We have sadly taken the place off our list of nice, comfortable and friendly venues down there.

Went there for a birthday meal. The food was great but the menu wasn't clear & the waiter didn't explain things properly. Also the music was far too loud, it was like trying to eat a meal on a dance floor.

New owners since I went here last, not so warmly feeling there no more. Children's menu not great for kids that eat plain foods. Steak pie and chips delicious extra gravy too watery.
