Taco-Macho Food in Exeter

I haven't had the pleasure of eating here. Both times I have booked to eat here they have cancelled my booking on the day. Really disappointed

Lovely food cooked right in front of us, definitely recommend for traditional Mexican food - loved the place and will definitely be back!

Came here with some friends without a booking and there wasn’t quite enough space but the owner very kindly moved some chairs to get us in. Food was delicious and a decent price and at the end of the meal we were given free tequila! Would definitely come back here, very friendly service and tasty food

A small friendly restaurant where we watched the chef prepare our meal. The food was amazing! Fresh ingredients, tasty (the chef asks how spicy you like your food) and perfectly cooked. We shall definitely return - soon! Also they provide takeaways and are extremely busy.

This was our third visit today- since finding the canteen a couple of months ago, we’ve been finding excuses to visit Exeter from Plymouth more often!! Today we had a chicken burrito and a veggie option. As always, the staff are so welcoming and friendly and the food is amazing. Great value too and we hope to be back again soon. Authentic Mexican food. We had the soft tacos (beef, chicken and pork) and the cheese tacos (beef and chicken). All absolutely delicious. Pork was our favourite. Great place for casual lunch.

Unbelievable, I could not believe how excellent it was. Freshly made in front of us. We ordered a chicken burrito, pork soft shell tacos and chicken quesadillas. The quesadilla was the best Mexican food I have ever eaten and great value for money. Chef really lovely and such a nice vibe

Came here today for lunch while visiting Exeter and it was absolutely brilliant! Food was spot on and the staff were super friendly. They warned us they were busy and it would be a 25 minute wait, which we were fine with, but while we were waiting they were super apologetic and brought us free drinks! The burrito was huge, far bigger than we expected and the tacos were perfect 👌 Will definitely be visiting again next time we're in town!

We booked a reservation for Taco Macho however, as we don’t live in Exeter, we struggled to find it. I called up and asked them for directions and the lady on the phone couldn’t have been more helpful and professional! She didn’t leave the call until we knew exactly where we were going and even stepped outside and began waving until we could see her. Her service was brilliant and she was very friendly which made our experience even better. Taco Macho is a very chilled out place with amazing food and quality service- not to mention extremely clean toilets. The burrito tasted amazing and had a variety of fillings. I loved coming here and will be definitely be returning when i’m next in Exeter. Would recommend to anyone, 10/10! ⭐️⭐️

This should be number 1 in Exeter. Lovely Gus serves up a treat every time. Only wish there were seating, then I would never leave. The burritos will fill you for the rest of the day and it's awesome to watch him make it in front of you. The best.

Unbeatable Mexican food for Exeter. All the options are absolutely sublime. The food is made freshly in a short period of time - perfect to then be taken and eaten on the cathedral green. Very reasonably priced too.

Tenía un muslo de pollo y burrito de chorizo. El mejor burrito que he probado en mi vida (¡incluso comparado con los burritos en México!) El pan estaba recién horneado y el muslo de pollo extremadamente suculento y ahumado. Todo se combinó con el guacamole picante (con lima), el cremoso yogur / crema agria y el chorizo picante. Absolutamente delicioso, lo visitaré nuevamente (regularmente).

¡Qué increíble comida sirve este lugar! Después de haber vivido y viajado por todo el suroeste de los Estados Unidos (Oklahoma / Nuevo México / Texas), este lugar sirve el burrito mexicano más auténtico que he probado en el Reino Unido. Era asombrosamente grande por un precio realmente bueno:) el propietario se quita los calcetines para todos los que eligen frecuentar su establecimiento. There was a little wait when we popped in but the chef chatted along to us and entertained us as he prepared the food and made us really feel at home! The veggie burritos we ordered were huge and tasted AMAZING. Great value for money. Will definitely go back when we can!

Just the mango sauce alone should be on Dragon’s Den. These burritos are so stratospherically good that you will feel compelled to tell everyone around you it’s one of the best things you’ve ever eaten.

We have been to Taco Macho a couple of times now and we have never been disappointed. The burritos are packed full of flavour! We would recommend the spicy beef chilli which is always delicious. The portion sizes are very generous so you will probably won't need to eat anything for the rest of the day.

Went for lunch with a friend. Had a spicy tortilla and it was absolutely STUFFED with flavour and spice! Couldn't ask for a more satisfying take-out for lunch. The guy preparing and serving the food is quite lively and entertaining too! High recommended.

BEWARE! This is a takeaway only. Was disappointed as walked a long way with family after reading good reviews, only to discover there was no seating. Friendly owner chatted to us but we didn't order anything. Ended up going to Comptoir Libanais which was awesome.

Have only heard great things about this place, however twice now in a week I’ve walked down to see the sign out outside saying open, but a post it note on the door saying back in 15 minutes. I have been so exited to try this that I hung around both times for 20-30 minutes and no one ever came back. I know it seems harsh posting a review without trying the food but I literally waited outside and went back to work hungry?

For £6, you can’t beat this experience of a made in front of you stacked burrito with a huge array of ingredients including fresh avocado. Choose from Beef, Chicken, chorizo or vegetarian. Served with friendliness and warmth. A gem of a place.

Really chatty friendly guy who greeted us and hand prepared custom Burritos for my Piccante taste buds and added chorizo for my partner. This is a TAKEAWAY place contrary to what TripAdvisor states it is! Would return when next in Exeter and much more interesting part of Exeter on Fore street with some great cosy independent cafes near by. A real MUST!!!

Partner and I just demolished 2 of these burritos and we both agreed they are some of the tastiest offerings available in Exeter. I can't recommend enough, so much flavour, amazing portion sizes and a brilliant character serving it all up!

The burritos have flavour for days people, and the owner is one of my fav people. The burrito is great value for money, top tip get the pulled pork and if you aren't too hungry ask for no rice.

Went for lunch with some colleagues from work to try it for the first time and it was very good. The food is delicious and made on the go. The taco is quite big, so get ready to be happy but stuffed! The place has a very good atmosphere as well, it’s a small place but very welcoming and the owner is very nice and chill, I went with a Sombrero and they thought it was very funny and even wore it themselves!!

After reading the Reviews and amazed by how the sandwich bar can be Number 1 out of 400 some thing Resturant ,me and my husband decide to give it A go, first visit on Tuesday and was closed!!! second visit Wednesday around 12:30 Just opened and not ready to cook!!!!! Although it says open at 12! Third Visit Wednesday around 3:30 and had the most average chicken sandwich I have ever try , chicken was cold just came from fridge and the salad dressing was off!!!

Me and my boyfriend have tried to come here at least 5 times in your pictured opening times. Every time you have been shut. We work 9-5 so it means coming on a Saturday afternoon and making a special trip in to get one of the reportedly best burritos. But it is actually impossible twice we have arrived and there a people sitting in your restaurant eating your door is propped open with a chair but are told it is closed or there is a closed sign on the chair. There is no explanation as to why.

Whilst the service is nothing to write home about, and the small takeaway might be lacking a bit of kerb appeal, the burritos on offer at Taco Macho are always fresh and delicious. The prices are reasonable too - it has fast become a favourite lunch spot whenever I'm in the centre.

Very small place, cash only. Choice of three fillings for the burrito (beef chilli, chicken thigh or vegetarian today). Good value, excellent quality.

As previously mentioned this take-away seems to keep independent hours. Once again on a Thursday it was closed without mention of why - or even of its hours. Door ajar - no sign of life or of existence! A parallel universe perhaps?

This place is amazing! A veritable array of various components, all flavoured and lovingly prepared then stuffed into a tortilla wrap. I was surprised by the quality of ingredients as for the amount of food you get for £6, it is very good value. Absolutely will recommend and take anyone here. Also the eccentric owner and his assistant are lovely and I like supporting a little independent business.

The service can't be fault. Very friendly and approachable. Price is fair and the portions are generous! The place has some nice decorations. Can't eat in, take-away only but by the time you get the burrito and get back in your car it will probably be gone! ;)

Very friendly staff - owner and lady assistant. It is perhaps a bit unfair to criticise on just one visit but my experience of the burrito I do not share with the other reviewers. It was OK, generous in size but fairly tasteless not unsurprisingly as there appeared to be more rice than meat in the mixture and the minced meat was not at all spicy in flavour which I would expect from a Mexican recipe. Frankly a Doner Kebab has more taste to it.

The burritos here are some of the best I've had (and I have been to many places being half-American!), and the service is so friendly. All of the ingredients are fresh and the burrito is made in front of you. I have been twice now and I can't get enough.

Popped by Taco Macho today after a lot of recommendations from our friends and had a fantastic burrito. They are packed full of flavour and the portions were extremely generous. Can't wait to visit again!
