Sushi Show in Islington

Small sushi bar that has a mix of pre-made sets ready to grab and go, along with a fuller order-and-wait menu. Offers mainly takeaway but there are outside seats for about 8 people and some inside window ‘bar’ seats for a hardy few. The tiny shop houses the visible sushi chefs and a couple of order-takers and is always bustling. The shop also has a selection of Japanese condiments, noodles, drinks etc. The service is authentic - efficient, a bit brusque, and if you’ve ordered chef-made selections for takeaway you’re given a ticket and kicked out with a smile to wander and wait for 20 minutes. Once you’re used to the process it feels less brutal, so don’t be put off on your first visit! The sushi itself ranges from ok to very good. Their rice is always well done and the freshly/made items are amongst the freshest and best you’ll get from takeaway. Compared to an itsu or similar chain it exceeds them in flavour and the quality of the rice, but is more expensive. The 2-person platter is a good basis for a cheeky meal à deux, and their hand rolls are plump and tasty. Love this place.

Family run bussines ... You feel like stepping into Japan when you walk in. Top quality, the portion is a bit small for my needs but everything is so tasty

I will say one of the best sushi ever, I could taste all seasoning and material are from Japan, Japanese is slightly different with Chinese taste. I take Gyudon £8.50 and for 2 people party plate £32 I forget take photos for gyudon, the sauce is amazing which remind me one of famous restaurants in Japan called Yoshinoya. These party plate I am highly recommend, 6 different type of sushi, all are fresh and yummy. One of the sushi I don’t know the name, you can feel the chef pour the heart in it, they have special seasoning in it leads the shushi into another level!! And I love their open kitchen that I can enjoy watching chef making shushi, I will say these is performing art.

Such a shame. Good food worst service. Cashier being rude to customers, not friendly at all.. Had been a customer for years, go there twice a week, seen significant price increase and bad service.

Wowwwww this sushi was delicious!!! The picture is very unflattering - due only to the lighting. It was all beautiful. I got the Matsu box and it was all so tasty. The chef also swapped the piece of eel out for salmon for me as I'm not a fan, which was very nice of him as it's a set menu! The rice was perfectly seasoned, the fish was cut perfectly, nice and thick, one even scored. The perfect ratio of fish to rice. Very high quality fish. The rolls were tasty as well, very nice tempura and perfectly cut cucumbers. Also the wasabi wrapped carefully which I appreciated as someone who isn't a fan. The only thing is the uni wasn't very good - it had quite a bitter aftertaste. I'd recommend trying that in fancier restaurants. Overall though, just a very high quality sushi restaurant- everyone working there spoke Japanese and the chef clearly knew what he was doing. The little store was great as well! I bought natto, which I haven't seen elsewhere and have wanted to try, as well as an interesting tea and rice seasoning. Super delicious and will absolutely be back!!

get the miso soup in a takeaway cup and everyone will think you are drinking a coffee but the joke is on them because it’s actually a proper miso soup. 5 stars

Great selection of freshly made sushi. A cosy little place at Camden passage. Great for takeaway. If the weather allows, nice to sit outside, people-watch & enjoy great sushi. Love Chuka salad (seaweed) - would recommend.

Really fresh sashimi! Definitely come back.

I’ve been a regular Nigiri customer for years. But the most recent twice visits made me really disappointed. We all know that the price is going up and the size shrinking. Moreover, the quality began to go down. Initially I thought it might just be not fresh enough on that particular day. So I gave it another chance after months, and this second try got me diarrhoea straight after the meal.

Nice sushi with very fresh fish but the portions are smaller than what I'd expect, and thus expensive for the amount you get. £56 for two special "Matsu" plates (8pc nigiri + 3 piece roll) plus two inari nigiri. Inside seating is very limited, with 6 stools at the window counter. Cramped. There are also some tables outside. The woman who served us was nice and friendly. The male server was a little half hearted.

基本テイクアウトのお店ですが、ロンドンによくあるサーモンばかりのお店と違い、色々な種類の握りが食べられます。 少し小ぶ りですが、鮨飯も、ねたも、握りの具合も日本のお寿司屋さんと遜色無し。むしろ日本のテイクアウトのパック寿司より断然美味しい。日本のそれはロボットが握っている所がほとんどなので、当たり前でしょうが。お値段はロンドン価格なので、比べてはいけません。 地元の人にも人気のようで、次々にお客さんが来ていました。「日本と同じクォリティーのお寿司を高くない値段でたべたい」と言っていたイギリス人の友人も喜んでいました。 本当は大将の前のカウンターで食べたかったのですが、私が行ったは使われてなくてお店の前のテーブルで食べました。またトイレはありません。本当に良いのか分かりませんが、近くのパブのトイレを使うように言われます。 関係ありませんが近くの公園で偶然、本も読み映画でも観た「A Street Cat Named Bob」の記念ベンチを見つけ感動しました。

Some of the best sushi I’ve eaten outside of Japan - or even inside for that matter! Fresh, delicious, beautifully prepared. Will definitely be back for more.

A nice little sushi spot that serves authentic Japanese sushi. The fish is very fresh here but missing the proper seating to fully enjoy the experience. It’s more of a cafe style with limited seating. Great for grab and go and takeout.

Very nice location and tucked away. Very small restaurant with an okay sitting area outside. The inside sitting area is more a bar facing the window and is ok. Not the most comfortable. The atmostphere is nice with the open kitchen and seeing the chefs make sushi. The sushi quality has definitely gone down and the prices have increased. The shapes of the sushi are not firm and can often fall apart. The rice can be also under seasoned. I wish they would revert back to the good quality cheap sushi they used to make.

I lowkey would die for this place. Sushi and hotfood (everything really) is unreal and so fresh and yummy. 10/10 couldn't be better x

London needs places like this - lowkey, independent and tasty. However, there is a sting in the tale. I've been eating here for a while and the thing I've noticed is that the price has gone up (katsu curry) but the portion size is smaller bordering on tiny. Its basically a kids meal for £9.50. Marugame Udon does a better katsu curry for twice the size at £9.95. Whereas at Sushi Show I unfortunately felt ripped off. The 'salad' that came in the bowl was literally a half ripped lettuce leaf. I moaned the entire meal to my 11 year old niece who felt her meal was small too. Not as good as it once was

Had the most beautiful, fresh sushi for lunch. The ingredients were high quality and the rice wasn’t gluey or dried out (like it often is at Wasabi or Itsu). Easily the best I’ve had in London. Also really nice to support a small business rather than a big chain.

Eat wonderful quality sushi with super affordable prices. Cute sushi take away shop with very few tables to dine in. All the fish are super fresh, high quality. My partner didn’t like raw fish before, but now she needs to eat sushi show every week😻

Women at the counter are always very friendly and helpful, they all seem to smile a lot too. I've only had the sushi boxes so far, but they taste great and the small boxes are a very reasonable price. Small amount of seating inside and out but this small space and the friendly staff really make you feel like you're in Japan. They also have some supermarket goods from Japan

WOW WOW WOW! What a cute place w so many amazing choices. We had a California roll, spicy tuna and prawn tempura with the chicken terayaki bowl. Everything was SOOOO good and the young ladies at the counter were very sweet and gave us so much more soy sauce (I’m addicted to salt) Can’t wait to be back again. It’s a perfect place to pick up sushi and eat it in the park 🩷

Fresh but pricey restaurant price

8/10 ⭐️ A nice small branch, serving a great selection of high quality authentic sushi. Ranges from sharing platters to specials to small pick up boxes. Staff are very friendly, especially the chefs. The store is quite small with limited seating, there really isn’t a dine in experience since they serve it in the same take away boxes. The seats are primarily outside on basic garden furniture with 4 bar seats inside. You are given a raffle ticket after your order, usually the staff will call out numbers once it’s ready, but sometimes they forget and you have to go remind them. Definitely recommend the sharing platters, they are all the same in variations but accustomed to the number of people shared. Also recommend the seared salmon & fatty tuna/salmon. The portion of pickled ginger and wasabi is perfect for the portion served.

Good sushi, bad people. I came inside to buy some takeaway with my dog, not knowing that dogs are not allowed inside, and I was about to ask if I could come in with it... before I couldn't even finish my question a woman from behind the counter started shouting at me saying that dogs were not allowed. Very rude.

Really tasty and great service. A tiny bit pricey but really worth it! Fresh and decent sized pieces. They use REAL Snowcrab in California Rolls! Medium fatty toro melts in the mouth!

Most certainly one of the best sushi spots in London, top quality fish and masterful artisanship from the chef. Authentic, wholesome, always friendly staff, would one up Roka or Nobu on some things.

poor customer service, the lady at the front appeared to be quite grumpy and just not bothered to smile or be nice towards the customers, almost robotic, delay in food arriving, no apology to say sorry for the wait, as would happen in japan! yes food is good but surely if the atmosphere does not match then what's the point?

Sushi is pretty high quality, such a delight to have it for this price. The portion of the rice is perfect but hope neta could go a bit thicker even if they have to raise the price (Still very good) gyudong and chicken teriyaki are good too, especially chicken teriyaki is highly recommended if you want hot meals. - tender, soft and the chicken soaked up the sauce pretty well. Loooved it. Gonna try everything there!

I love sushi show. Their food is amazing, their sushi always creative, fresh and tasty. However, last night I went to order some curry udon noodles - to take away as they were taking the tables away past 8.30pm. I got literally a paper cup with tons of curry sauce and maybe 5 noodles in there. What happened to the bowl?! Will go back at some point but won’t order THAT again. Disappointing.

Somebody recommended this shop in a review when i was just prancing around on google maps for a good sushi place. The food looks absolutely delicious, the amount of sushi is just endless. Haven't visited yet but i am planning to, i just love sushi can't get enough.

Me and my sister have been coming here for years and we absolutely love it! The food is great the service is also great and as a shop it has a lot of character! We come back every time we’re both in London, would recommend the udon noodles very highly.

Have been to their sister place in Shoreditch, and this one is also very very good. Ingredients are fresh, the dishes are to the point and everything is very tasty. Will come back again and again.

I'm a tourist now in London, I've been visiting japanese restaurants every day for almost 2 weeks, but when i tell you that this was the best of all of them, and the pricing is also good. The atmosphere was phenomenal and the workers are really helpful, patient and very bright. I ordered Katsu curry, and Tuna Avocado Ura Maki, I recommend them both to everyone, it's fantastic.

This is the most authentic Japanese family-run sushi shop you could possibly find. Their sushi quality is amazing and comes at a great price point. It’s mostly used as a takeaway but they do have seating options by the counter and at the back. Just call to book in advance. Apart from sushi they have other traditional dishes. We really liked their delicious eel donburi! There’s no alcohol served but you can BYOB or just enjoy plenty of green tea.

Small family run authentic Japanese corner that has been a surprising delight! Arrived at 12pm sharp on a Sat and already saw people start to queue in! They only have 4 outdoor tables, so most people did takeaway. Super fresh nigiri and roll, and my personal favorite was eel donburi, tasted great though rice portion was a bit small (but good proportion for value of money). The green tea in bottle they sold is exactly same type you'd get in vending machine in Japan so was a good call back. Would definitely come back.

Our favorite sushi place! A family run business where clearly so much care and attention to detail goes into all of their food. The fish is super fresh and what they have in each day can vary based on what has come in. Sometimes sushi takeaway can be messy or kind of thrown together but theirs is always perfect and neatly packed so it's delicious and beautiful.

So delicious and they have such a range of choices. We had the seared salmon roll and tempura roll. The eel was amazing Defo recommend

When you are in one of those undecided mood and not sure what you feel like having, this is the place. Great service, authentic Japanese main dishes. Sushi or a donburi, small portions but at reasonable prices. I had the gyudon three evenings in a row.

Great choice for tasty Japanese food with a wide variety of options. So far we've tried their sushi, sashimi and gyudon, and all of them are great. Umaiiiiiii! Just a heads-up, it's better to call for pre-order during meal time as the wait for sushi/sashimi can be long.

Authentic Japanese I always pip by when in Angel to get some groceries the seven spicy costa only 2 pounds ....and grab some sushi to eat by the canals

Usually as someone who is very food passionate I make my research before I go eat somewhere, however this place I found by coincidence.The only reason why I felt like I needed to try this place is because I noticed they were speaking Japanese and is run by a small family.The sushi master actually used the sushi hand technique which I have previously seen many times at an Omikase in Japan.I gave it a shot and ordered the most expensive sushi set which actually costs only 20 gbp. The set includes fatty tuna nigiri which I am very addicted to.I must say that when I finished the set I couldn't believe what I just ate.It was the cheapest and best sushi I had in London.All the money I wasted on expensive sushi places doesn't even come close to that sushi.The eel nigiri and the prawn nigiri were the best ones I had in my life and I was in Japan and Vancouver which both are very famouse for their sushi.This place is a must go if you are a sushi lover.

Sushi made with fresh ingredients and not smothered in sauces. Had their teriyaki chicken rice and curry upon. They were perfect on a cold day

I have long since moved away from London, but I remember Sushi Show as the best fresh sushi I’ve ever had in my life.

I’m so glad I’ve found this place. Started working nearby and loving fresh sushi! I’ve yet to try some of the hot food. Did have takoyaki, though felt more like microwaved frozen ones as opposed to fresh grilled 😢 So not so crispy on the outside, but the taste is still there.

Absolutely love this place. Every dish is a delight. Fish is beautifully fresh. Hot meals are delicious too. Service is on point. The chef's are consumate professionals and you can taste the flawless execution and high quality ingredients in every bite.

This is my favourite Sushi bar in London by far. All the fish is extremely fresh and well sourced, full of flavour and the perect texture in every dish from their Sashimi's to their Uromaki's. The chef is from Japan himself and always handcrafts the best sushi platters. The place is unsespecting but the quality of the food and service never ceases to amaze. The value is also very good. I often come here for lunch. I wished it would closed later in the evening as I would also visit for dinner. I have recommended this place to many.
