Suphawadi Thai Cuisine in Gosport

Food is acceptable but not exceptional, and the service is very good, and friendly. But the prices are crazy: e.g. 4 large bottles of lager £30, mixed starters for 6 easily served on two dinner plates £40. Big city prices in a small unloved town, close to an area subject to a police curfew because of ASB. Doesn't work for me.

This restaurant never fails to deliver. We started going there after “lockdown”. The service is excellent and the food is superb. There’s is no comparison for example, when compared with The Creek, where the service is awful and the food average. Highly recommended.

Ordered a takeaway and picked it up because I was in the pub next door - great food and great idea.

This in an all round excellent restaurant. Simply put, the service is first class and the food is delicious - highly recommended.

I like this place - but it is a treat. Seeing some other comments saying great food and great price - I must disagree with the latter. The food is good and better than you can make at home for sure, but the menu has been reduced somewhat which is slightly disappointing. It also don't justify the increase in cost which makes this place a rare treat instead of a regular haunt. The staff are polite and nice - although at times the service from the kitchen is slow. A noddle dish, stir fry, rice and start isnt far off £40 - and while to dine in that's "okish" it's not for a takeaway.

Fancied trying this Thai restaurant near my moms ordered directly as no app used. Ordered Pad Thai tofu & veg excellent flavour but very little tofu. Beef massaman curry lacked both beef & all noodles & onions, not good (4 small chunks of meat) . Jasmine steamed rice was crunchy. Won’t be reordering, disappointing.

We visited on Valentine’s evening without a booking. They kindly managed to fit us in. The food and service were excellent. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that one of the servers didn’t have her hair tied back and another server kept touching her hair even though it was tied back. Basic hygiene is important!

I really like this Thai, staff are great it's a family business. It's on the Stoke Rd which is the nicer part of the town centre. We loved this place, starters were tasty, sweetcorn fritters especially, my red curry was delicious and my partner tried a new curry and loved it. We'll definitely be back the only thing that was a little annoying was the speed of service but the food more than made up for that and they were clearly very busy.

Called in mid week after finding it on TripAdvisor. Pleasant but unobtrusive staff. Starters and mains decent enough. I was surprised how they dealt with the Card payment though. The guy brought the machine so I got my card out ready and put it on the table ready for him inputting the details, so I could then either do the contactless thing or insert it and put my PIN in, if need be. But he picked it up off the table without saying anything or asking politely, before he’d inputted the actual amount which I thought was odd - especially as the amount fell under the new contactless limit of £100. No idea what this was all about as I’ve never seen anyone do this before or since.

Called in on the 8th February , not knowing that they had only opened on that day following a break . Always found the food to a good standard , however although the starter was satisfactory our main courses of ‘Chicken Pad Cha ‘ was very disappointing. Bland , lacking in flavour and dry . Surprised to say the least .

Celebrated both mine and my sons Birthday. The food was awesome, visited Thailand a few years ago and this place was equally as good! We all absolutely loved everything we ordered, the food was so tasty and fresh and looked as good as it tasted. Service was excellent and very reasonable. Wish we lived nearer as this would be my local! I have not had such a good meal in such a long time! The Phad Thai was delicious and the satay chicken was the best we had ever eaten.

Ordered as we left the M27 and collected 15 minutes later. Went for set menu A as we had not eaten here before. The chicken red curry was amazing and the 4 items in the platter were very tasty. Prawn pad thai was good in flavour but sparse on the prawns. The beef and mixed veg were ok; hence the 4 stars

We had starters and mains and everything tasted delicious. Following a recommendation on here I ordered the starter calamari. The red duck curry had a lot of duck and lychees. All quite moreish. Good portions. Would recommend and would go back.

We are regular customers. The restaurant is fantastic, the staff are first class helpful and friendly. The food is absolutely amazing, especially the calamari and red thai curry!! We cannot wait to come back after restrictions are gone!! Can very highly recommend!!

We visited with friends who had eaten here before. My partner and I had the spicy shrimp soup to start (which she found too spicy!) and we followed with a green curry and roasted duck curry which we both enjoyed. Sadly one of our friends did not feel very well so had to leave but we stayed on for deserts of sticky toffee pudding and sticky rice with mango. The sticky toffee pudding was very light and not too sweet with a ball of vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed our meal but found the restaurant noisy with laminate flooring reflecting the sound - we wouldn’t like to be here with more customers. The lighting is very dim and we used our phone torch to read the menu. The staff were very helpful and efficient serving the food with not too much gap between courses.

We have visited here on a number of occasions over the past 2 years. Sadly on our last 2 visits the service has been very poor. Slow and careless. Food was OK but even the drinks service took ages. No sign of apology.I think that they were greedy during the recent government food subsidy and as a result their standards slipped. We will go back if only to see if this was a blip or a permanent downgrade.

Visited the restaurant with hubby and 2 friends on Tuesday 25th August 2020. Staff very friendly, excellent food and good value. We all had set menu's which we were pleased with.

I don't eat out very often but if I have friends or family staying, I always take them to Suphawadi. I ventured out for a meal with a friend last Tuesday, the food was excellent as always and we felt safe eating here. Lovely, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere - thanks!

Great service and food, we ordered by phone and had the food delivered to our door, the order took about an hour, which is very good, the food was excellent, not thecheepest but you only get what you psy for. Overall Excellent

This restaurant is a true gem and the food is better than the surrounding Thai restaurants in Southampton and Portsmouth.The food is delicious and well balanced. We went for dinner as a party of 4 and ordered an array of dishes all of which were great with each of us liking everything that came out. I had one of the best Thai green curries I have ever had and the food was good value.The staff were friendly and attentive even though they were very busy. We felt looked after as customers. We sat on the table by the window which we loved as we didn't feel crowded despite the restaurant being full.We will definitely be returning repeatedly.

A Thursday lunchtime in January. The restaurant was not busy, maybe 4 or 5 tables. We were given the choice of a circular or long table.Excellent service, polite, interactive, timely. Lunch menu or general menu available.The squid starter was perfect. Light batter, just cooked to perfection.Noodles for main course! Beautiful, cooked to order, fresh, not oily, nicely seasoned and warm.Decent wine and beer list.Restaurant very obliging to help as one of our company had a nut allergy, another disabled.

Popped round to order and collect a take away as the wife fancied one for her birthday.It was early so I was the only person in but I was welcomed warmly and given a nice plate of crackers as well as good conversation whilst I waited. Gorgeous, massive steamed dumplings and the set menu for two was ordered and it didn't disappoint. Compared to other venues some might say it's expensive but when the food is that good - who cares!

I ate here for lunch and dinner having been told by a local friend how good it was. I was not disappointed. I had that lovely creamy coconut soup and papaya salad for lunch. It took me straight back to Thailand., even the famous smiles. I was amazed by how empty it was at lunch. 10 quid for 2 courses of delicious beautiful healthy food. Do try at least once.In the evening I had some Thai rose which was a bit sweeter than I normally drink but complemented the seafood red curry and the calamari.This is a really good restaurant. They seem busy for evening meals but could do with more visitors during week at lunch. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic restaurant, really is authentic delicious Thai food. Never been a big fan of Thai restaurants in the UK but the food here reminded me of being back in Thailand, they even have Chang beer! Will definitely be making this a regular spot

I am allergic to mushrooms. When choosing soup I went with one not listing mushrooms so I was surprised to find mushrooms. When I took this up with the staff I was reprimanded for not telling them. After explaining I was super amazed to find mushrooms again in my soup then every course after. The staff said their chef would never make such a mistake and although did not say directly that I put the mushrooms in myself it was implied even though I ate none of the food!, very disappointed

I love this restaurant. I dine here quite a lot with my husband and have also dined alone as it is that kind of comfortable friendly place. The food is delicious and always super friendly service. Next door to a cute craft beer place too. The place never fails as they truly care and I always recommend to people.

Went for the set menu mixture of tasters with sauce, then came the main several meats with rice chicken beef and pork white meal quite mild beware the red meat all good, then followed by sorbet included Thai rose all in £60 not bad to end the birthday after a day of golf at Milford. Thank you

Having a bit of a bad day so decided to treat myself and my wife to a thai. Absolutely gorgeous meal. Good portion sizes. Panang curry was phenomenal and has cheered me up for the day.

What should have been a nice meal descended into chaotic service and lack of proper staffing.

Decided to try this local restaurant for lunch and was not disappointed.

Thai is one of my favourite cuisines. I ate here last night with my parents and I have to say this was one of my favourite Thai meals I've ever had. The service was superb and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. I'm often dubious to try set menus but we tried a mix of set menu and some dishes à la carte. Every dish had its very own distinctive taste and was great value for money. I heartily recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to return.

We went here last night as a party of 4 for our Wedding anniversary , having booked on line the day before, we received confirmation of our booking. This was our first time and definitely won't be the last. The food was amazing such a wide choice was welcome, our host was very pleasant with plenty of check backs to make sure everything was OK. One important thing for me when eating out is not to feel rushed or pressured to leave when finished , there was nothing like that at all it was all very relaxed, We will look forward to our return visit when we go.

OK so we chose this restaurant based on excellent TripAdvisor reviews, and made a reservation. The place was full which gave us a good sign things must be good? Upon entering there was no one to seat us and after 3 or 4 minutes a young (Thai) gentleman showed us to the table, quickly delivering a drinks menu before running away. He returned some 15 minutes later to ask if we'd like a drink, by this time we were of course thirsty and had also all chosen our food (party of 4),so decided to place the order at the same time. The drinks finally arrived after being seated for 40 minutes, it was a simple order of soft drinks and 1 bottled beer, so not exactly taxing to make. I had a cola, which was seen poured from a large bottle, and was unfortunately flatter than a pancake, so I kindly asked to switch to another drink, which was again very flat, however in this case I just accepted the drink as didn't want to be seen to be a pain. The starters arrived after 1 hour... Yes a whole hour for a set of starters, the mains 1 hour 45 minutes before arriving. So my guests were a little annoyed and began to get frustrated. The food itself has to be highly commended as was very tasteful and you could really get the flavours of everything which was great, however presentation could be improved as was served in some dishes with chips around and personally I would throw these away and not serve them to customers. The service was the real let down, considering we were in the restaurant for over 2 hours, only 1 initial drink was offered, it was like we were a forgotten table, now yes it was busy, but still we are all paying customers? No one checked any of our food was OK, no one came around at all to ask how we were etc etc, it just felt we were in the way somewhat. The girl who brought the mains could not even manage a smile (British girl) certainly didn't want to engage and was obviously busy but yet still you would expect some nicety. Overall I have to say I and my group have left feeling a little dissatisfied. I hope you are able to look at these observations in the positive way they are intended.

I have been meaning to give the nice people at the Suphawadi a review for sometime now! All I can say is that myself and my girlfriend have been eating at the restaurant since they took over a few years ago. I have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we have eaten there and the staff are always so kind and helpful, Tan & Max are charming and always make us feel welcome and unlike Thai restaurants near to where I live I have to say the prices are very reasonable! All I can say is keep up the good work :)

Visited here with my parents as they love it here - I can see why! I’m now a fan too. Delicious freshly cooked Thai food, I love that they cater for vegetarian/vegan too. The vegetarian sharer starter was delicious (see photos!). Would 100% recommend this restaurant.

What a great restaurant on Stokes Road, blows away the other local offerings easily. We eat here a few times a month as the food is tasty, authentic and never have a problem getting a table on a Friday or Saturday evening. Everyone we talk to says the same so we're surprised not that many reviews on here. Bonus with the tap room next door.

This was a 5 eating experience. The staff were friendly & welcoming, & the food was outstanding. If you fancy a change then strongly recommend this place as it is warm & friendly. As for the food my taste buds are having orgasms!! I will be coming here again. Thanks you for a great experience.

I was here with a very large group of family and friends after a funeral. What one needs in such situations is a warm welcoming place with helpful service. I must say the staff provided exactly that. Hot plates (surprising how often that is a problem in restaurants these days) and good food. I'm no expert on Thai food but it seemed to me we were presented with multiple well prepared dishes in a timely manner. I enjoyed it immensely and feel happy recommendng it. I am unable to comment on the value since it was prepayed for us.

The wife fancied trying the takeaway service from this local Thai eatery for her birthday as the weather was bad so she wasn't bothered about going out.

Visited suphawadi with my girlfriend and some friends recently and had a fantastic meal. We have been many times in the last couple of years and never been disappointed. The staff are always friendly, polite, warm and welcoming. The food is some of the best Thai food I have had and I have visited Thailand on several occasions. Many British Thai restaurants make themselves more like a Chinese than a true Thai experience but not suphawadi, the food is truly a taste of Thailand the land of smiles right here in Gosport. I can not recommend this restaurant or praise it’s wonderful owners and staff enough for giving us the best meal experience there yet. Ten out of ten.

My boyfriend and I visited for a meal on a Saturday night having been here a few times before, we were able to be seated straight away however the restaurant was very busy.

I have tried this restaurant 3 times now as the owners are very friendly and welcoming.. this is the only reason they got 3 stars and not less.

We went for a work social and were unanimously delighted with the food, sevice and atmosphere. Despite being a large group, the food came out at the same time and to the highest stands of flavour and presentation. Genuine Thai flavours and "Thai hot" on request too!

I went to this fantastic restaurant for my Cousins 21st Birthday, New Years Eve and My Mums Birthday last year. All three times that we have eaten there have been remarkable and worthy of the name ' BEST THAI RESTAURANT '. I highly recommend people come here for Brilliant Food. The restaurant is located in the heart of the city. Not difficult to find it as it’s in the one of the main roads of Gosport. The food that the Suphawadi Thai Cuisine offers is outstanding! I haven’t had such a delicious starter and a main for ages! The prices are reasonable, portions are quite big and the restaurant looks lovely and warm inside. The manageress is such a nice person, always smiling and welcoming. I can’t complain about the service provided; our food arrived within 25mins. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and I’ll definitely be coming back to try more on the menu!

The takeaway service is very good, the food is freshly prepared with good clean crisp taste. Their chillies are nice and sharp. We've been to Thailand a few times and this is great authentic food. If you like Thai food or would like to try Thai food then you can't go wrong using these guys

Went to this wonderful restaurant with my husband, daughters and sons in law for my birthday. We were aware that this restaurant had changed ownership recently but really didn’t need to worry as the food and service was faultless. We were a group of 8 - and it was a very busy night - but we were extremely well looked after. Would thoroughly recommend the pad Thai and the Masseman curry. Also the steamed dumplings as a starter were divine. Bottles of wine were reasonably priced and there were plenty to choose from. Overall, the food was amazing and our bill was exceptionally reasonable. Will definitely go there again and would certainly recommend this place without any hesitation.

This was our first visit here and it certainly won’t be our last. A very welcoming atmosphere with such friendly staff. The food came out at a pace that suited us, nothing was rushed. As for the food, it was absolutely beautiful, well presented and most of all piping hot and plenty of it.. With such a wide choice on the menu with reasonable prices I will enjoy returning to sample them all in time.

Great Thai restaurant. Clean and fresh with plenty of room to move. The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. Most important of course is the food for which I think is delicious and very reasonably priced. This place is great for any date night. Will certainly be going back soon. xx

Having visited this restaurant under it's previous name and seen the quality of the product go down, I was interested to see what it was like under new ownership. Staff very attentive, good menu choice. Always liked the massaman curry , and this was probably as spicy as I would go, but the meal was enjoyable. Would definitely return again

Brought the other half here for a birthday treat. The food was amazing it tasted so nice and fresh. It was well presented and good size portions. The staff were very friendly and without me asking sang happy birthday. We will be back and will also try the take away. Thank you so much

Have visited previously when it was Natee Tip, food was always good so was looking forward to trying it now the new owners had taken over. Emailed asking if they did delivery and they got back to me quickly to advise free delivery within 4 miles. Ordered for two people: starter each, meat dish each and noodle dish each. All were very tasty and very impressed with them, the only downside is that they don't have takeaway prices so the food came to just under £50 for the two of us which I would have expected for in-restaurant prices but not so much take away. All in all a delicious meal, makes a change from Indian and Chinese and I will definitely be back as an in-restaurant customer. Thank you!

This is our second visit and certainly we were not disappointed!! The staff are extremely kind and friendly and always a cheery smile. Food is gorgeous. Thus time we ordered the pineapple rice and sweet and sour chicken. Both were a real taste and visual treat. The prices are reasonable.

We were looking forward to trying this out, having been several times before when it was The Natee Tip. The food was as good as ever, and the service vastly improved, however, even though the place has had a face lift, we still had to change our clothes when we got home.

Easily the best restaurant in Gosport. Restaurant was lovely, clean, spacious, ambience was just right. Staff were spot on, attentive, polite, friendly, not too heavy on the "how is your food" question. Food was staggering, no wait for food, excellent timings between courses, and extremely well presented (chef has 30years experience and head waitress is extremely passionate and doesn't let anything leave the kitchen if it doesn't look good enough). There's a beautiful little cubby hole at the back of the restaurant which is perfect for a super romantic and secluded meal. Toilets were clean, whole place was spotless. We had a beer, a wine, and a 3 course meal each (two of us) and was under £52. I was expecting closer to £80. Cannot recommend this place enough. We will most definitely come back.

Visited this restaurant on a recent stay in Gosport. There is some parking available in the nearby side streets. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was very high quality, hot and spicy. the beer was cold and the ambiance excellent. Be careful of the opening hours though, its not open on Sundays or Mondays and book to avoid disappointment. Well worth the visit, we shall return.

Visited this totally redecorated restaurant after a days sailing and fishing, what a difference , all new decor, menu, staff and food was amazing quality and very tasty with good presentation by friendly staff, will definitely be returning again, excellent 5 star restaurant well worth a visit, thank you for your hospitality.

Having seen the restaurant in the high street which looks lovely we decided to give this a try as a takeaway for a group of friends who were staying the weekend and very keen on Thai. Our experience was dismal. We ordered crispy duck which was limp and fatty. Ribs which frankly were inedible, tempura prawns were lovely. Red chicken curry was unusually hot for a Thai red curry but nice, rice good. Sweet and sour prawns were mushy and overly sweet, pad Thai was lovely. Two dishes we ordered and paid for were not provided but when we rang a refund Was offered plus a voucher. An experience that was disappointing and not reflective of good Thai food based on previous Thai meals in Thailand and a home. Maybe a restaurant experience would be better

Booked table for 19:00 initially we were the only 2 customers in, then others followed suit. Nicely decorated, it was a bit strange that the background music was light jazz? The staff really friendly, not over friendly though, leaving a wee bit of time in between courses. The total cost was around £60 quick, which included a bottle of Pinot Grigo.

Yet again a very enjoyable experience . Good food , friendly staff and all at a very reasonable cost . Will definitely visit again .
