Superfish in Epsom and Ewell

Really upset this place has gone downhill we used to come here for takeouts a lot and eaten in the restaurant as well all very good. But tonight went in early doors knowing it be cooked fresh. Chips overdone not very nice fish very greasy. All for £20 . Will not be going back anytime soon. Did notice different person cooking.

The fish and chips were delicious as were the puddings - so nice to see some old fashioned puddings on a menu - and just the friendliest and loveliest service.

Food amazing but 3 stars from past experience before reviews were online! I boycotted super fish for 10 years due to a bad experience with their food on a very rare occasion! They basically said I was not telling the truth as they had called the restaurant in tolworth and the scampi hadn’t been from the dregs that was left over. They did offer me supper on them reluctantly, but I never took them up their offer for how badly they handled the situation and just boycotted them! 10 years later and 520 meals equating to £13,000 that they lost from me, I am back! I have to the say the fish is superb! Just a shame the owners don’t care about feedback! Looks like they still don’t judging from no reply’s from complaints on here! Such a shame as when they get it right it really is superb!!!

Fish ineadable very salty when I rang up to complain he pretended he couldn't hear me will never use again.

Don’t get me wrong, the food is better than many fish and chip shops we’ve used but they never seem to get our order right. 4 out of the last 5 visits they have messed up, they have said that they will rectify if we return but it’s a good 10 minute drive and in that time the rest of the food will go cold. We always call ahead, arrive on time to collect and still have to wait at least 10 minutes which we don’t mind as it means the food will be fresh but how can you be so disorganised and get it so wrong so often when the order is on the computer in front of you. We have given them the benefit of the doubt at first but after this fourth time we are going to have to find an alternative.

Last night we fancied a little snack so we ordered some chips, when they arrived they tasted strange, it was a taste as if the oil they are cooked in hadn't been changed in ages. They were really vile and made us both feel very unwell. I will never be eating any food from here again. I dont know what they did to the chips but i havent tasted anything like it. I am suffering this morning with terrible stomach cramps and pain due to this. you should be ashamed.

Have been coming to this branch of the SuperFish chain since I was a kid of 9...... and I have to say having been back at regular points over my grown up years, I literally cannot find fault with the beautifully freshly cooked fish and chips, the in house made sauces (their tartare is the best in the world) and just that lovely sense of relaxation and anticipation that you're going to have a nice chippy tea....

Matt and Richard were fantastic when helping me arrange fish and chips for the residents at Worcester Court. Polite, friendly, very helpful and incredibly efficient, especially considering the large size of the order - they were a great team to deal with. I was very impressed by how punctual the delivery was, everything was packaged and labelled brilliantly, and the meals themselves were delicious. Thank you! I know everyone here really appreciated it, and I'll certainly be going to Superfish again.

This is a superb fish and chips restaurant where you can eat in or take away. I personally recommend eating in as the staff are amazing with their service. The quality of the food is amazing and I doubt you can find better in land fish and chip shop. The fish is fresh and the price is really reasonable. Not only that but you can bring in your own alcoholic beverages which seems popular with the clientele but nothing too excessive. As the atmosphere is quiet and friendly. Parking is an ease as well due to a car park just around the corner. I would personally recommend this restaurant for a reasonable priced meal with a friendly atmosphere. However, this place is popular so either eat early or late.

Good cod and chips but took a while to prep my order of large cod and chips and superbites (25mins to be exact!) The place wasn’t even busy. 4 other customers arrived and served before me and one even placed a batch order. Makes one wonder what goes in the superbites that takes them a while to get out the kitchen.

It was an awful dark and wet Friday last week and we were travelling back to Brighton stuck in traffic. We decided to take a detour, have dinner, then travel back when the roads had clearer. This place had great reviews so we thought we would give it a go. We rang ahead to ask if there was a table free. There was so we drove over. We were greeted with a warm welcome and was told we could sit anywhere - we chose the front by the window. It was lovely and warm. They had a great menu including kids meals and a good choice of drinks. We ordered our food and drink then were presented with free fresh baguette and prawns - a truly wonderful touch and very tasty too! Our main courses promptly followed which were all cooked fresh and of very good quality. We were offered free guerkins and onions which was also a nice touch. My husband and son had ice cream for dessert which was of a very good standard. Overall I would thoroughly recommend Superfish. They had super staff and super food so we would definitely go back. Thank you!

My wife and I visited for a sit down meal a week or two ago, and we were delighted by the service that we received . The waiter (james) was warm, engaging and incredibly welcoming, aswel as going above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasurable experience. The food was fantastic and we couldn’t have asked for more. Great evening meal 10/10.

The staff always give you a warm welcome and get to know you by name. A very busy restaurant with delicious fish - we like the salmon which can be battered or grilled. As soon as you are seated the prawns and tasty portions of French bread and individual butters are placed before you whilst you decide what to eat. There is quite a range of fish, chicken, scampi, calamari, all served with chips, side dish of pickles and sauce trolley. Soft drinks, beer or wine are on the menu as are tea and coffee. The fish and chips were hot and delicious. Service is of a high standard and is somewhere we visit regularly. I also get our fish and chip suppers there for our charity events which are packed in such a way they are piping hot still after we have picked them up and reached our guests.

Excellent value for money. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Delicious food! Brilliant service and that is why we are regulars!

We met here for an evening meal. We enjoyed the bread and butter appetiser and I then had the haddock and chips with mushy peas followed by spotted dick and custard accompanied with a large coke. We had such excellent service that we repeated the occasion the following week.

A really excellent meal in cosy surroundings, served in a friendly and efficient manner. A good variety of fish dish choices including healthier options. Even a lovely selection of deserts to finish the meal.

Visited this place with a friend visiting from overseas who was eager to try traditional English fish & chips. Superfish didn't disappoint! Simple but tidy sit down area, super friendly and helful staff. And, of course, great fish and chips. We ordered small cod but portion sizes were more than enough for our appetites. Judging by that, I can imagine me being able to deal with a medium portion on a hungry day but a large one would probably be welll beyond my capacity :) Free pickles and sauces were a cherry on the top! This place is also licensed so you can enjoy a glass of wine with your meal. I'll definitely be back.

Not been for a long time,anyway popped in on the way home ,Well it was fantastic,Super fish indeed ,they give you a few prawns and bread plus pickles,service was great.an all round nice experience,won't leave it so long next time .

The food from superfish was lovely and hot, freshly cooked and not to greasy, my only gripe is it is very expensive.

It is a treat to eat fish and chips at this restaurant but to fully appreciate the food you do need to be hungry - the portions are quite large but delicious and there is something very comforting to be able to have a pot of tea to go with as we ate at lunchtime.

Went to go here on Sunday afternoon after checking the opening hours online, Monday was stated as open till 10pm. When we couldn't get Fish and chips here, we went to Med Plaice in Banstead and had an Amazing meal. So I guess by not being open we went somewhere better. I doubt I would go here again now.

Popular place and the plaice was good! We had a three course meal and enjoyed every mouthful. There was a complimentary starter of prawns. We shall return again.

Family outing last night for Mum’s 81st birthday and she loves fish and chips. Wonderful waitress and waitor, fantastic food and they serve wine and delicious puddings too. Highly recommend.

This place was always packed out, i went in to find out why. The fish and chip were fresh and outstanding. They just get it right, bread and butter, fresh fish, great chips and peas. All cooked to perfection. Pucca.

Visited for the first time in a long time. Previous owners have moved on. Service was excellent and so were the prawns and bread for starters. But the chips were soft and floppy and my wife's grilled lemon sole was all dried up and singed around the edges. In the past we've had some really superb fish and chips at Superfish. But I suppose having eaten fish and chips in the north of England. That's the sort of thing that can really spoil you!

I have been coming to super fish for 2 decades and I'm never disappointed. Crispy fresh chips and flaky super moist fish. (And all the gerkins and. Pickled onions you can manage)

Wide choice of fish and a several wines, prices reasonable, service very friendly and food arrived quickly. Perfect!

Very well cooked and tasty fish. Best chips around. Even if you book take away in advance they will not just keep it hot they start cooking as you arrive. So you will still have to wait but worth it. Good but small eat in area. Worth booking at busy times. All the usual extras available. Quarters of fresh lemon supplied free is a nice touch. Recommended just to try you will not be disappointed.

Never had a bad meal in Superfish. Yummy warm French bread and prawns for starters. Followed by great fish and chips, with lovely mushy peas. Puddings are great value too.

Come here for dinner every Tuesday with a few friends and we never have a complaint which is why we continue to come back. They have friendly, polite staff and the food is outstanding. 10/10!!!

My mother is a northerner and very fussy about her fish and chips! As she is staying with me at the moment I am on the hunt for the best chippy in the area. I ordered haddock and chips and mushy peas and was delighted to be told to wait while it was cooked fresh in front of me. I was given two haddock for the price of one as they considered the filets small. Nice touch.

Simply the best fish& chips in the area imo, juicy cod, crispy batter & tasty chips,cooked the right way, in the right oil.

I have been using Super Fish since it opened many years ago. The best tasting fish & chips around. The restaurant is also very good with complimentary prawns served while you wait for your meal to be freshly fried. Good service as well.

I remember my first visit here many moons ago whilst living in South London. My wife recognised the Manager from her younger days, and soon realised that it was an old friend. We soon became regular patrons solely on the quality of the food; the fact that a 'friend' ran the place was an added bonus. Everybody got the same fantastic Fish & Chips, but we got extra strong Tea and top-up's too. I really can't speak more highly of this restaurant. Our friend has now retired but the standard has stayed the same. I no longer live in London, but the Fish & Chips here is so good that I now travel up from Worthing especially for this treat !! Yes it's true - even living at the seaside I can't get Fish & Chips this good unless I drive up to the Superfish in Ewell. My only criticism is that there's NO Superfish in Worthing !!!!!

Had a takeaway last night for 4 of us . Been coming to this branch for a long time . The fish was dry and over cooked or cooked and left for a while . Chips were very greasy . Overall it was very disappointing especially on a Friday night

The fish and chip at restaurant are simply the best. I've been hit with a number occasions and today was no exception. The food is just to die for. I do class myself as a fish and chip expert and I am very fussy. The staff at this restaurant hello are particularly polite.

OK if you time it right especially when the fish and chips are fresh fried the resturant seem to get the best pieces though the price difference is minimal,staff could be more friendly

I visited superfish in Ewell on a Monday last month for a meal with my partner at about 7pm. The restaurant was quite busy and had a nice 'buzz' about it. Even though it was busy the service was great by the waitress and food was lovely, hot and tasted fantastic. The manager on shift even came over to say hello and check to see we were happy with everything. We asked the lovely waitress her name and for the manager's name, she said Debbie, and the manager was Matt. Have to say I highly recommend a visit to superfish in Ewell. Thanks a lot for an enjoyable meal. We'll be back!

Not been for a while and it was nice to see the quality of the food and the service was just as good as ever.Lovely and friendly staff who care about the customers, cleanliness and serving good food.

Superfish has been here as long as I can remember and I've always had a delicious meal! Very traditional fish and chip shop so it's good to sit in rather than takeaway. Staff are lovely too.

Perhaps a strange place for a chippy to be on a bypass, but at 18:30 on a Friday, for the restaurant, it was almost full - completely full by 19:15. We ordered (sustainable) cod and chips (large, but there is a 'Moby Dick' size too) and scampi. Both were freshly fried, crispy and not too oily. The cod and the scampi were both meaty and very tasty and cooked perfectly (the cod moist and not dry). The chips were chunky but not super crispy at the edges. But, the mushy peas, as a side order they come in the their own little pot - no small smear on the side of a plate, are fantastic. I could have just ordered a huge plate of chips with a couple of pots of mushy peas to dip them in! The meal starts with a small plate of cold cooked shrimp, a basket of French bread and butter, and the option of pickles from a plate. Sauces are served in boats which get past around the restaurant (my wife put would've preferred her own pot!). Total of £25 for the two fish suppers, a pot of tea and a glass of beer. And of course, they do takeaway, but highly recommended for a sitdown fish and chip meal at the end of the week.

I called in Superfish at 8pm only two people were in the restaurant I ordered a takeaway fish and chips with mushy peas, large fish and curry. The fish was awful more batter than fish, the curry source was salty and left a distinct taste. The mushy peas were stoge on a plate. What's happening to this restaurant going downhill fast. Won't be going there again it was a waste of £16. Threw it in the bin.

A really great place at brilliant value. Nice to receive extras such as warm bread & butter and prawns as appetisers. The restaurant is very clean and the portions very good. Extremely fresh fish. There is a waitress here who can not do enough for you,she really was brilliant. Highly recommend this place.

I live in Kingston and it is such a shame that we do not have a superfish here. I was on my way back from the airport and decided to pop in and get myself some fish and chips to take home. Always look forward to getting a takeaway from here, have also eaten in the restaurant on one occasion a few years back and was very pleasantly surprised, and especially with the ice cream, which I don't usually eat.I don't know what the secret is with their fish and chips, but nothing has come close to the flavour that you get from superfish, and that is also including some of the more expensive fish restaurants in my borough. Superfish, you need to open one in Kingston Upon Thames :-)

I've only been once (I'm trying to the find a really good fish and chip shop round here but not having much joy. Are my standards too high? I don't think so). We got take away. Three large cod and chips and an extra battered sausage for me because I'm greedy.The fish and chips were odd. The fish was fine it was just that the batter tasted nasty and it was a very dark colour.The battered sausage was the bomb though. Best one I've had in ages: fresh, hot, crispy, yummy - saying that, it tasted like it was cooked in southern-fried coating. Not a complaint, a plus point actually, I've never had a southern-fried battered sausage before, chicken yes, but not sausage.Staff were friendly and place was clean. Just not all that as far as fish and chips go. Sorry folks, my search for a decent fish and chip shop continues....

If you like proper fish and chips this is a great place. The fish is good and the chips overly plentiful. The service is fine and if eating in they do a decent cup of tea too. They have all the extras you'd expect from pickled eggs and onions to mushy peas. I see one or two people have had a less wonderful experience but I have eaten both in the restaurant and take away dozens of times and always found everything to be as it should be. So they must have been really unlucky. In the end , it's fish and chips and not high cuisine but I've had fish and chips in high priced "name" chippies and this is just as good (the same actually)

Visited on a Friday night. The service was great, the food was fantastic, couldn't ask for anything better. It was also nice to see the staff smiling and enjoying what they are doing! Would highly recommend

I visited this restaurant today with my family as I had read great reviews on Tripadvisor and as we all love a good cod and chips we didn't hesitate. On arrival we struggled to get our daughters wheelchair in as there was no ramp, a member of staff then told us after watching us struggle that we could have gone through the chip shop through to the restaurant, maybe a good idea would be a sign on the door stating this to the customer! We got inside and the staff just walked off back through to the takaway part and left us to seat ourselves even though the sign clearly stated 'wait to be seated'. We found a table as we were the only people in there as it had just opened, after a few minutes a man came in and sat down, the server went straight over and took his order totally ignoring the fact that we were first! She eventually took our order and literally two minutes later returned with our food. We were asked if we would like any sauce, we asked for ketchup, the server came back with a sauce boat and splattered two spoons of sauce on our plates which if I were four years old may be fine but I am old enough to put my own sauce on my plate! The fish was tepid, the chips were not hot and the mushy peas were cold and watery, absolutely disgusting the worst fish and chips I have ever had, as we were very hungry we ate the fish and left the rest, the man at the other table received a check back from the server, she did not come over to us to ask if everything was OK. We asked for the bill and she said 'that was quick' and then said 'was it ok?' I said no actually the fish was cold and the peas, she replied 'well it can't have been that bad you ate it! Oh my gosh!!!! What a response! My partner said to her that the fish was not cooked fresh to order but the server insisted that it was, my partner then said ' but you brought it two minutes after we ordered, it must have been cooked earlier and left, she insisted not so my partner replied that it can't have been cooked properly all the way through then, the server walked off to get the PED then left the PED at the table and walked off again so I paid and took the receipt, she immediately rushed over as I think she thought we were leaving without paying and said quite abruptly 'where's the paper?! I said I have took the customer copy and she said 'oh yes it's printing now. The woman was unbelievable, very rude, and as cold as the fish! I run a restaurant and would never treat any of my guests that way, if someone is not happy with the food or service you should go out of your way to ensure that the guest leave happy, this never happened at Superfish I left fuming! I have never written a negative review before but feel so passionate about this I just had to. I will never visit any Superfish again and would advise anyone thinking of going there to think again!

Passed through Ewell tonight (06.08.16) and decided to stop and get the family some fish and chips after a day out. Everything was cooked fresh to order. They were the best and most generous portions I've ever seen. The manager was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend this chippy to everyone, thanks again Matt x

These are the best fish and chips in the United Kingdom. I was not a massive fan of seafood but Superfish converted me into a lover. Myself and my family now regularly visit this establishment and have never had a bad meal. The waiters and waitresses are always very kind and welcoming and the food always arrives to our table very quickly. This will always be my only fish and chips shop!

Visited last night, haven't been here for a while and has a new manager. We were seated promptly and offered free prawns and bread and butter, a nice touch. Large selection of fish on offer and cooked to your liking, fried or grilled, with chips or salad as an option. Children's choices too. The haddock we had was beautifully cooked, a good sized portion and served with perfect chips. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, with scrumptious mushy peas and free prickles too! There was a choice of puddings, it was hard to choose but the mango sorbet was delicious. Finished with fresh Americano coffee. It was all served with a smile in a lovely friendly atmosphere! Brilliant.

The best fish and chips I have ever tasted!The service is amazing and staff are so friendlyI went in on Saturday 14th May with my wife and two children and ordered a large cod and chips, Scampi and chips, and children's fish bites (which they said was very yummy)

We have just had a lovely meal at this resturant the food was lovely cooked to perfection . Free prawns were nice surprise. The staff were very friendly and atmosphere was great. Can't wait t return again soon. Great value for money.Tina

Just had a take away from Superfish. Now I've had some pretty good fish and chips around the world and this "chippy" takes first prize. Succulent fish with fantastic chips. Reasonably priced too. Really pleased and I will be back. keep it up guys

Dropped in one Friday to get fish and chips (takeaway - didn't feel like cooking!), saw one of my neighbours sitting at a table with her partner and a free table next to them so decided on a Eat in option! Small but clean and very busy (later there was a queue of people waiting to get in). The make you very welcome and place some bread and butter and half a dozen prawns (on the house) while you study the menu. Soft drinks, beer and wine are also available. The fish id beautifully cooked and so are the chips - not greasy or overdone. Gherkins and condiments are on the house. We had a lovely hour and a half eating and chatting with neighbours. A random visit but very satisfying! I'll go again.

Outstanding fish and chips in this friendly place. The owner comes out and talks to his customers. Theres plenty of food for a reasonable price. Cant recommend it enough

Have to say I like the approach adopted by the Superfish 'chain' of restaurants. They know what they are doing and always produce great F&C's. Grilled options available as well. Always a few prawns included to start with as well as a full relish tray. I have noticed that the fish sizes are slightly smaller, but there is no compromise on quality. Good, quaffable wine and beer and excellent attentive staff, including the manager who has been there for 26 years.

We as a party of a dozen or so had lunch with absolutely impeccable service - and that includes sorting out the bill afterwards. Yet the establishment was very busy with every other table occupied as well as their normal take away service. Usual precursors of prawns on the side, bread & bub, chips and sauce tartare galore. No pickled eggs for us, but some did have a seafood mix which went down a treat. My immediate neighbour had Huss, my wife had Salmon and I had Haddock, so you have a wide range of different fish dishes and sizes to choose from.But don't take my word for it, try a take away or eat in; you don't have to have salt & vinegar, with my high blood pressure I just have lemon on mine with tartare sauce.

This review is of the Superfish in Ewell, I have not been to any of the others. We originally started going here because Epsom did not have a fish and chip shop. We initially only got takeaways but decided to eat in one day and have eaten in since.Food – the food is excellent, the chips are always cooked very well and are golden brown, just as they should be. The fish can be ordered fried or grilled, and is of an excellent quality.. They are also licensed so I can enjoy a beer with my food ! (or wine if you would prefer).Staff – The staff are excellent, friendly, and helpful. It has the feel of a family run restaurant (I don’t know if it is) by people who care about what they do and their customers.Epsom now has a fish and chip shop again, but we keep on going back to Superfish in Ewell. Probably the best fish and chip restaurant I have ever been too.

Recently moved to Ewell, thought I'd treat the family who helped me move with fish and chips.. Absolutely awful, greasy, over cooked, the chips were just full of grease - by far the worst fish and chips I've had.. Shame, this local resident would have been a very regular, regular.. Do yourself a favour and try "the major plaice" in Ewell village - absolutely outstanding!

Simply the best fish and chips you can get around here! It's pretty old school when you eat in but the service is always great and I've yet to have anything but a lovely meal. No nonsense fresh tasty fish and chips. Brilliant!

We took grandchildren there after long day at Hobbledown. Really friendly and helpful staff plus excellent food. Ended a very good day will be going there again, that is for sure.

Popped into Superfish in Molesey with hubby, had lovely meal, love the pickle trolley, nice cuppa tea and bread. staff friendly, (plaice) clean. will be going again for sure.

I like it because you can have rock and chips. No one seems to cook this fish down here in Devon. It is clean, the food is well cooked and delicious. All the staff are kind and helpful.

The salmon is my favourite and this can be in batter or grilled. I use Superfish for my charity fundraising functions and it always arrives piping hot even though there are nearly 100 portions.

Often go to this buzzy little fish and chippy, never had a dud meal. They will grill if requested although it takes a bit longer and will serve salad instead of or as well as chips. Good choice on menu, desserts are mainly ice cream but sometimes a crumble or fruit pie is offered. Small wine choices but, enough for us. Very pleasant staff, clean eating in area and nicely decorated. Parking is always a problem but we go by bus, 2 minutes to the stops. The best fish and chips for miles around, cooked the 'Yorkshire' way - in dripping !!

I have been coming here for quite a few years, and even though I've moved to Sussex, I still return. It is SO good. The fish and chips, obviously the most important element, are superb. Always perfectly fried. However it's the little touches such as complimentary warm, crusty baguette, prawns, pickles/pickled onions etc that really make it special. Not only the food, but the service by such friendly waitresses is also to be applauded. If you live locally or are just passing I urge you to try it. Sure it might not be the coolest restaurant, mainly frequented by an older clientele, but it oozes warmth, friendliness and great fish and chips! (by the way, my poor review of 'bar scene' and 'outdoor seating' are simply because they are irrelevant!)

I eat at Superfish Molesey about once a month but the last couple of times I have ordered a large cod, it is not large. The fish is now sliced more thinly than before so while it still stretches across the plate, the batter is twice the thickness of the fish.

One of the best Fish and Chips I have ever eaten.Consistently good and I have visited this outlet on many occasions.Dine-In table service is variable, really depends on which staff you get, one made me laugh and my friend called her hilarious (in a good way).I drive over 10 miles to eat in this outlet simply because others are not consistently as good as this place .. and this says a lot.Now I am in Singapore, I can only replay my happy eating memories of this unpretentious place.

The food in this chippie used to be very good, well presented and wholesome. Visited on Friday last, and the whole experience appeared tired and laboured. The service was average and the food was, to me, below par.

Have used the Ewell Superfish for many years and found the fish to be of consistently good quality.We usually have 2 large cod and chips along with the starter of cooked prawns, fresh crusty bread, gherkins,onions and various sauces. Along with a drink this come to less than £20 which nowadays seems great value.My only downside comment is that it seems if we eat shortly after opening time in the evening the chips appears to have been either pre cooked or reheated from the lunch service. This seems to improve after about 15 minutes depending how busy they are. Overall one of the best fish and chip restaurants in the area.

Yuk just had the worse fish and chips we have ever eaten.tiny piece of cod with soggy old batter disgusting I didn't eat it,plus chips were bad too very old not peeled properly.when ordered put put in bag straight away so wasn't even cooked from fresh. Cheaper than mr wang in west Molesey but his is cooked fresh while you wait and you get double the amount plus it's scrum my delicious.i will definitely not be using superfish in the near future.

We are getting to be "Fish and Chip" Bores!!. Trying out the highly recommended ones on tripadivisor, Often with success. This one Not So superfish, it looked promising, Tidy looking, clean restaurant etcPrice about a £1 more than average, Ordered a large fish and chips. Big portion of chips, and small'ish fish arrived. Chips looked "Scabby" few Green bits off green potatoes, and some with Knarly bits of skin still on, the Chips, Fish Quite a bit smaller than average, and batter a bit over cooked. The chips were not very nice, so took them home for the Dog,,,, But even she was not too keen on them,,,, But did eat them later, and is still wagging its tail, So no harm done!! Compared to the fantastic Chez Fred, Bournemouth and Simpsons in Cheltenham. This would not even get rated. So being generous maybe a 4 out of 10 ???, or is that too kind?

I have been using this chain for years and I have always had delicious fresh fish and chips. There is always a queue at weekends but that soon moves along and it is a sign of how popular the place is. Lots of blue rinse, white cardigan pensioners who know good value and grew up on fish and chips. For Ewell, I park in the road heading to the village as the parade in front of the shop is often full. For Tolworth, I either park in front or in the M&S car park. Both excellent branches.

We are surrounded by Fish & Chip Restaurants in Epsom & Ewell and not since my visit to The Magpie in Whitby have I found one to compare locally. Our Beaver Scout Colony had a sleepover and as part of their trip we did a long walk around our local area to Superfish. I had arranged beforehand that we would arrive for 5pm and the staff were eager and ready to receive 20 six and seven year olds. Food was ordered and arrived very promptly. I was assured by some parents that the children would need smaller portions and that they may be reluctant to eat the fish. I decided to go with the normal menu - all of the food was eaten. The food was cooked from fresh and as I mentioned before and for those in the know - was right up their with food cooked by the Magpie. Thank you to the team who were absolutely brilliant!

If you like no-nonsense fish and chips, with all the usual trimmings then this is the place (no pun intended) for you. Service was excellent, the fish perfectly cooked, though the chips were smaller than I prefer.

100 yards to car park. Very good eat in fish and chips. Pot of tea, prawns, French bread butter.Cod and chips. All under £7. Wonder full lunch, open evenings.

Since most 'proper' pub-type restaurants in this area seem to serve frozen battered fish, it's a delight to find a 'real' fish and chip restaurant with a range of offerings (including grilled rather than battered fish) at decent prices. The children's menu is especially good value, with 6 chicken nuggets at £3.70 - and this is the most expensive of the children's offerings bar scampi. All meals are served with French bread, and the total for myself (I had plaice) and my two boys was just £16.90 including drinks.My only gripe would have to be that we seemed to get forgotten after we had finished our meals - plenty of attention when we arrived and whilst we were eating (my boys always think it is funny that the server comes along and asks how the meal is when you have you mouth full!), but after that nothing, although the restaurant was not full and there seemed to be enough staff to cope easily.Superfish is part of a local chain - I must try one of the others sometime.
