Sun Trevor in Denbighshire

My granddaughter and I had a lovely meal and stay in our campervan at the Sun Inn, landlord and staff very welcoming. Will be returning.

What a lovely place. Went today with my son and our dog. Food was absolutely gorgeous and portions were huge, all home cooked too. Staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. They even had a menu for dogs, our Lab ordered the fish and chips (dried sprats, sweet potato chips, peas and salmon based kibble) it was gobbled up! This place is very dog friendly. Lastly, this place has amazing views, highly recommend 👌

10/10 food and service. Landlord was super friendly, helpful and chatty. Even let our good boy (Hank) off the lead to explore to pub. We stayed in the car park in our motorhome and have been recommended a nice walk in the morning to the viaduct. Would highly recommend and will be coming again 😃

Good pub grub reasonably priced. Friendly staff and two cask ales by local breweries, which is worth an extra point in my opinion. 😄🍻🍺👍

Fantastic stopover extremely welcoming. Nice pint of Guinness at a fair price and the food we had was first class. We stayed over in the motorhome/campervan area which was flat, safe and secure

Myself and a friend parked up at the Sun Trevor early evening . Something we did as a group the week before . The idea is to car share up to the Panarama ( quite a steep route with barely any passing places ) and then return to the pub to enjoy drinks and snacks . This evening the landlord must have seen the car share , he saw me park and promptly came out from the pub and stormed towards me , telling me I had no right to be there . I tried to explain why and we were returning for drinks but he was very rude and told us to leave because they were fully booked for food all night and there was no room for us . ,Last week they were closing the doors at 9pm ! Not exactly busy so you would expect they would appreciate the trade . Myself and our fell running club have decided not to visit this pub as we prefer a friendly appreciative landlord … not a short minded, arrogant , argumentative one . Shame really as they have lost a lot of trade but we have taken it into Llangollen instead .

Loved it here we were lucky enough to arrive on a beautiful day and able to stop over in our van - everybody was lovely - very hard working - walks great - llangollen one way and aquaduct the other - food good - chips were fab - oh and very dog friendly

Was out walking from Llangollen and popped to the pub hoping for a coffee, it was early and wasn't actually open but the lovely chap was outside doing some jobs and offered to make us a drink....how lovely was that...he went out of his way to sort a couple of drinks. We've been there before and will definitely go back. Thank you Sir..

12 of us landed here after our canal boat broke down, I called ahead and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, even working out where we were on Google maps so they could predict how long it would take us to get there. The food was delicious, staff were great and the vibe was 👌

I pop here every now and then after walking in the area. It's ideally placed if you've done some miles either in the hills or on the canal. It's an immediately warm and relaxed setting, ideal for a nice couples meal, family lunch, or place to pop in with your boots on and the dog in tow. The food is solid "pub grub". Nothing too posh, but in generous portions, tasty and a good price, just what you want. Usually have 2 or 3 ales on along with the usual lagers, ciders etc etc. Well worth popping in for a nice chilled feed or pint when passing.

Fabulous meal this evening, the steak and ale in the pie and Yorkshire pudding was beautifully tender and very very meaty.

Fantastic food , party of nine and everyone was very happy with the food, home made chips, I had the pie, best pub food I’ve had in a long time, will be back.

Friendly, cosy and welcoming place to rest with a drink after a great hike from Llangollen. Wood fired pizza oven looked great but we were a bit early to try.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We stayed at the Sun Trevor in one of their holiday cottages. Super modern and comfy. Was meet when arrived and shown around. Well worth the money. Also eat in the pub for dinner, great food great service, fantastic staff and owners.

Stayed overnight in our campervan. Greeted at the door & shown to our pitch. Super warm & friendly welcome. Felt totally relaxed from the start, good selection of beers & the food is to die for. Would recommend to anyone.

Quaint pub with very tasty food 😋and lovely views. Often eat in the outside covered area looking towards the Llangollen canal and picturesque countryside My favourite dish is the fish finger chabatta, scampi is good too as it comes with homemade chips 😊

What a great place for good quality home made food. The chips are excellent -made with actual potatoes! The food is well worth the money. The service is friendly and efficient. I had the veg curry - it was amazing, my husband thinks the gammon and chips is the best he’s ever had. You should book - it’s often busy - not surprised.

If you saw me you might guess I love a good steak pie... Well this one was pretty fricking good, Nice tender chunks of steak, just the right amount of pastry and tasty chips... Decent Guinness, and great service... Everyone, patrons and staff are super friendly... Lovely spot. Well be back. Also super dog friendly.

Found this gem on Park4night. We stayed one night in our transporter after having amazing food and superb customer service. I would highly recomemd this place to anyone heading to llangolen or passing through. 5* service throughout.

We booked for a table of 13 for lunch to mark a birthday. Staff communicated with us in advance so we could place our order, and everything arrived at our table in good time. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Went after a hike. Staff were so lovely and food was lovely. I had the special, which was a burger with bacon and Stilton. Was so tasty!

First visit to The Sun. The food, service, and atmosphere were spot on. I had the steak and ale pie, and my two boys had burgers. One chicken and one beef. We all enjoyed our meals very much.

Nice bar area with a lovely fire, staff friendly and attentive. We had ultimate fish and chips which was really good, and the leek and mushroom pie, which wasn't nice at all. After giving feedback I was advised that it contained blitzed cashews which explained the odd texture and sweet taste. I wasn't at any point however asked if I had any allergies, and really wouldn't expect nuts in a veggie pie. A better veggie selection would be appreciated, however for meat eaters there was a good selection. We were planning a stop over in our camper but will probably give it a miss, shame too, lovely location and nice people.

Lovely friendly welcoming pub with delightful staff that couldn’t do enough to help. We popped in for a coffee on our way up to the ruins for a walk and then for a really lovey pint on the way back. Super friendly staff and owner. Than you to the resident dog poppy for being so well behaved around our not so dog friendly rescue.

We stayed in the car park in our camper van. The staff were so friendly and helpful, our dog was welcomed warmly, the food was delicious, as were the drinks. Stunning walks directly from the pub. Couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely be back.

Met midway for various birthdays the pub is very nice very clean and staff were great If you are walking or on canal and want a break would highly recco for a drink dogs allowed BUT food was terrible not a single person in our party ate their meal av £15-£25 a head for 2 courses Shame could be great

Always looks busy and food “looked good “. However the sausages were cheap and disgusting and off . The manager and staff had at least 4 opportunities to ask us how are meal was , as is customary these days . I think they don’t ask because they don’t want to deal with poor comments .

Had an amazing meal whilst away in Wales for a few days. Very dog friendly, even gave our little dog her own chair and cushion! 😊

Staff are amazing and the food is great. We took our Golden retriever and I've never been to a more dog friendly pub than this one. It's just fab!!

Always a welcome at the Sun Trevor, although really busy Paul found us a table and we ordered from the menu.., We both had the curry and chips/rice half and half although did order an extra homemade chips… it comes with a small naan bread and a popedom … Service was good…. Defo calling again Steak pie is also a favourite!!!

Great stay in our campervan. Site quite level. Beautiful natural area. Plenty of places to visit around. The canal is outstanding. The food was good sized portions, nice atmosphere. Dogs welcome. Recommend.

Llangollen was busy so we decided to go to a restaurant on the way back home. We found the Sun Trevor which was busy and we had to wait but all good signs the food was good. The food was all home cooked and portions were big, all the family enjoyed the meal which was reasonably priced and will return again.

Great pub, good value tasty food, the owner went out of his way when we had car trouble. A good stop after a walk, would definitely recommend.

We stumbled upon this pub while searching around the area in our Campervan, and wow we are so glad we did! The meal was absolutely amazing. The staff are so so lovely! So welcoming. We will definitely be back, more than once!! 100% recommend.

The manager has no people skills. We booked to stay over in our camper van and eat, but the guy was so rude when we arrived, we went elsewhere.

Lovely people, very dog friendly, smashing little pub. Standard pub food, amazing treacle tart, nice range of beers including some local ones. Big range of dog treats! Lovely views over the valley and easy access from the road. If we had gone on a warm...

Food was ok, but bacon was not cooked. Landlord needs to get a life, not welcoming at all.More worried about his carparking than looking after his customers won't be going there again!!

Had the big version of fish and chips. I have a large appetite and I was very full afterwards. All well cooked and presented. Good service and choice of ales.

Went to this pub with a group of delegates from a training course. Ordered the steak and ale pie which a friend described as looking like a tortoise in size. A wonderful tasting pie with chips. The atmosphere was great, went on a Wednesday and took part in the traditional pub quiz (none of this smartphone quiz nonsense, proper old fashioned pen and paper quiz). Had a great night and would go back again.

Stayed here on a motorhome pub stopover. Lovely location with great views. Lovely walk along the canal into Llangollen which took us about 40 minutes .worked up a thirst and appetite by the time we returned. Food was a bit hit and miss if I am being perfectly honest. I chose the Hunters Chicken and I enjoyed it. Chicken was nicely cooked, tender and a generous portion of fillet ,however The Wife chose the fish and chips and was not impressed . Did not like the batter ( too thick ) and thought the portion of fish quite small. Lady sitting next to us must have thought the same as she done the same thing and peeled the batter off and just ate the fish.I was initially going to order the steak and ale pie having read all good reviews bout it ,spoke to a couple of fellow motor homers who had also eaten there earlier. One said he ordered it and it was a bit bland, his wife’s words ,not his , he bemoaned the fact it lacked gravy and said it was a bit dry, the other guy raved about it ,said it was delicious and full of filling ,so I guess you pays your money as they say. Beer was great, service quick and friendly and the prices I thought were reasonable, so all in all a good experience. Will visit again probably soon and this time il try the pie for myself, probably ask for a pot of gravy to go with it to be on the safe side .

Excellent place, just a small issue with the lack of comfortable seating in the bar area apart from the sofa's near the fireplace, otherwise it's the hard bench seats against the windows,which are so uncomfortable (especially if you have piles), but in all honesty it's a super sonic establishment,a must visit place 💯%

Great stop over with a campervan....think it gets busy on weekends(we were there on a Tuesday) so do phone ahead to book. No charge to stay in van overnight if having food- and the food was really good! Would definitely recommend 👌

Popped in for lunch on route to Bala. Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, would highly recommend. Also dog friendly ( own menu) which was an added bonus.

Called in on a narrowboat holiday as the pub is conveniently located close to the canal. The food was great, really good pub food. Staff were not so smiley and welcoming which was the only down side.

Poor food, manager argumentative with no managerial skills , overpriced for the food you get . The chips were awful just like they had come from a chippy , hardly any potato in them mainly the scratchy bits with nothing to them. Steak and ale...

Fantastic overnight stay at the Sun Trevor car park last weekend. We stayed in our Motorhome which is 8.2 metres long and was a little worried it would be to big but I called up beforehand to check and we did have plenty of space...

Awesome food, great service in a wonderful setting. Staff were friendly, even bagged up desert for us as portions are rather large. Steak and Ale pie was truly monstrous and delicious.

We stayed on a Thursday night for 1 night in our motorhome, we had food (very nice) and a couple of drinks in the pub, then we stayed free of charge in car park Staff very friendly and welcoming and welcomed our dog in. We went travelling for a couple of days and came back to The Sun Inn for a Sunday dinner again food was very nice. Highly recommended if your passing Llangollen. It's advisable to phone first as it gets busy. Very happy customers

This is a great pub/restaurant. Food is amazing with big portions. Staff very friendly and the views are georgeous. Great for pub stopovers but need to book in advance. We will definitely be retuning.

Arseoles wouldn't let me stay over in van because only had chemi toilet, what's the point in being Brit stop member, up yours
