Better than any restaurant on Green Lanes! This is my second time at Sumak and I’m just so impressed by everything. The restaurant is really spacious and has nice ambient lighting. They have a mix of smaller and larger tables so perfect setup for a meal with a friend or a larger group. We ordered a large platter for 4 but it could honestly feed 6. They’re very generous with portions and I like that! The meat itself was succulent and the lamb chops were extremely tender. Not easy to get those right but they did and more. The wings were juicy too and the bread was warm and I enjoyed the mezes. Oh and the waiters were great too! Very attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome. I’m so glad this is a restaurant near me and I will definitely be going here often.

I love this restaurant! The first time I visited Sumak was in 2017, and since then, I've been returning all the time. Ibrahim, the owner, is amazing! He is always present, making sure that everyone feels welcomed and satisfied. Additionally, the staff is so friendly; I love that I never have to wait for them to assist me with something. They are all efficient, fast, and always smiling! The food is amazing! I never regret eating there; the portions are big, which I love because we can take it home if we don't finish. I truly recommend this restaurant; it is one of my favorites!

Sumak was our favourite Turkish restaurant of all time. The food is still amazing, however the last time we were there, it appears they have stopped serving the delicious bread and salad that is customary in most Turkish restaurants... and was one of our favourite parts of dining there. Now you get a very small portion of both on the side of your plate when your main course arrives. This seems incredibly mean spirited and unnecessary, considering Sumak is one of the priciest Turkish restaurants in the area. We won't be visiting again unless they go back to the experience they gave their customers before. A shame.

The food is delicious, environment is clean and the staff are amazing, especially the manager. The kids get sweet after meals so, they always want to go back.

I usually love sumak, and was only here on 20th Jan and again yesterday 3rd feb and in between those 2 dates they have new staff and a whole new serving system with smaller portions. We were sat on the other side of the restaurant and had one lady waitress for the section compared to 3-4 for the other side. She wasn’t very smiley and when we questioned the change of service she just said we changed it - with an ‘end of’! Approach. It’s really put me off visiting again and after letting friends know of this experience they have too said if it stays like this they will no longer visit either. Really sad for it to change as it use to be such a friendly place to go when friends and family of all ages.

Super friendly staff at this restaurant. I order takeaways regularly and the food is a decent price for quality kebabs. Highly recommend Lamb Shish and Greek Salad.

Have been to this restaurant several times and always enjoyed the food. Lots of healthy salads and starters and good fish too. Staff are helpful and friendly and there is always a nice atmosphere and nice mix of clientele and atmosphere.

Someone I have worked with introduced me to this place two years ago. I have been a regular customer since. The food is fresh and tasty. Price reasonable and always a friendly staff. I had the lamb in hummous! Really really yummy with that wonderful smokiness you get with a charcoal grill. Complimentary bread and salad! Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Great place to host large dinners. If you love cheesy wall decorations, the panoramic murals of European heritage sites are very enjoyable to gawk at :)

Food is classic Bulgar/Turkish, good, but for what it is a bit pricey! Service was okay. I would be a regular but it’s too pricey for that.

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and bringing my family. The food is great and so is the service although it has always felt a bit of a ‘fast food’ experience and the bill is delivered very swiftly. The downside is however, that every time I go in the prices go up and at £17 for a small kebab, I chose to walk out before ordering. I feel that the restaurant is constantly testing the market price wise and for me on this occasion they have pushed it to the limit. I know that prices and costs are going up but I crossed the road and went to the Belash Indian restaurant where I had an excellent main course for £10 with very much the same ingredients and a glass of wine for £5.50. I will miss the restaurant but feel that no longer competitively priced

One of my favourite Turkish restaurants, friendly staff . Very good value. Edit 2/9/21 : the food was good and staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately after 4 years of patronage I've decided to boycott this establishment. The duty manager was very rude and condescending when I mispronounced the name of a mezze. I can't see any point in paying for an expensive meal if I am going to get abused. Unless there is an apology I am afraid this is my stance. Edit 2023 The manager apologised for his conduct, I have visited the restaurant, and i am glad to say my experience was pleasant this time!

My go to place for sexy flavours... I mean there meats are so seasoned even typing is sending my taste buds wild. Good family restaurant. Traditional Turkish food off the grill. Always good service and always consistent quality of food. Negatives is that it’s slightly below the level of some of the classics on Green Lanes and the T Rex of Turkish restaurants; Gokyuzu. It’s also a bit pricey, which I always find hard to get over as when I was younger Turkish was seen as a cheaper option. Overall though well worth it.

Always enjoyed the atmosphere in Sumak, the food which has good portions & the little extras. The biggest attraction though was the wine, the house red. Yesterday I went with a friend & all had changed with the drinks menu! The house wine had changed & was more expensive which I queried & the waiter insisted that the new house wine was much better despite my tasting it & protestations to the contrary. He continued to insist which was annoying. The cost of living has increased dramatically & I'm sorry to say that the owners are taking advantage of the situation. The old house wine is still available but only by the bottle & at an inflated price. A really disappointed customer who will think twice about frequenting this restaurant 😕

Getting very expensive website menu prices cheaper then menu when your in there £8 difference for bottle of wine has happened before their website not updated their excuse is haven't got round to updating website.

This is a wonderful discovery in Crouch End -- be sure to try the Sarma Chicken Beyti, one of the signature platters, and if you like chicken livers, you'll love the chicken-liver meze (even if you don't think you like them, you might want to try these -- they're tender, perfectly done, and deliciously seasoned. We tried a Turkish red wine and were very glad we did -- Turkish wines aren't well enough known, but they're excellent. The service was warm and attentive. A great meal all round.

The dinning hall is large and open plan. I guess that weekend evenings when full it might be noisy, but at lunchtime you may feel you are rattling around in the large space if there are few other diners. Still, the service was friendly and efficient when we visited. The restaurant has a reputation for good food, as the many reviews testify. My red lentil soup was generous and tasty. However, the use of soup spoons seems to have died out and that is a shame, as ordinary spoons not as useful. My main course was a Yogurtlu dish. In the past I recall the yoghurt part of such a dish being integral to the presentation and not just two dollops of plain yoghurt placed on the top at either end of the dish as in this case. This was also a rare dish where the lamb to other ingredients ratio seemed out of kilter. Maybe because there were few customers requiring meat of the doner my plate had an abundance of lamb, so much so that I struggled to finish the dish. The lamb overwhelmed the rest of the dish. On the one hand this was great service, and value for money, but looked objectively at, as a dish it was unbalanced. The robust red wine was a good accompaniment to the food and overall the price was value for money.

I visited Sumak restaurant for the first time last weekend. We were a large group of 18 celebrating my dad’s 80th Birthday. We all loved the food, the ambiance, the service and the value for money. We had a great afternoon and I can’t wait to return and try more of their lovely menu.

From the whittington staff we want to personally thank Nadim Ibrahim for a wonderful customer service. He really went to extra mile to make sure we had a good enjoyable time . Food and drinks was amazing. Great atmosphere from the entrance staff were very warm and welcoming. Thank you very much, we will be back again.

We used to go to Sumak for light lunch and never complained about anything as service was always excellent. But on last two occasions lentil soup was tasteless and borek was not crispy but soggy. Famous coban salad was anything but coban. My advice to the chef. "Follow the original recipe of coban salad: chop all the ingredients finely, do not put lettuce in it, dress it with olive oil and lemon juice.

Good day as I visitor from cape town South Africa to London my friend Isa took us for supper 15.05.2022...oh wow we were greeted at the door shown to our seats....fast efficient service the food was fantastic over enough very tasty fresh salad...the children had ice cream too what a lovely atmosphere ....highly recommend...... We ordered Salmon . But they served it with very oily fried vegetables . Mostly of them are onions. Waitresses are kind and friendly but taste is not good. Salmon is £ 18.90 and it does not really worth of this price ! We won’t visit this restaurant again!

Had a lovely meal at Sumak this evening recommended by my friend Haroon. The kebabs were tasty and very tender and the charcoal grilled bream was excellent according to my wife. Salads and bread were also very enjoyable. Thanks to Ibrahim and all his staff who looked after us so well and made us feel so welcome. Will definitely be a return customer, could not fault it.

Este es un excelente restaurante con porciones muy generosas e ingredientes de alta calidad. La decoración puede parecer un poco anticuada con sus paredes pintadas con los mejores lugares de interés de Europa, para que se sienta como si estuviera de vacaciones, pero es cómodo, interesante y el servicio es muy rápido, amigable y eficiente. El tabulé es el mejor que he probado en mi vida. Una vez que haya tenido sus brochetas de pollo, no querrá conseguirlos en ningún otro lugar. El hígado de pollo aquí también es para morirse. I have been a few times here, the food is always fresh + tasty, I have eaten in + so nice the salad, dips + bread with your meal. Takeaway is always really good too. I highly recommend this place + the rice pudding, so nicely done here for desert!

Large group of us went for a friend’s birthday. The staff looked bored or tired, as did most of the food. But the salad was very tasty and tasted fresh at least. Won’t be going back, Green Lanes beckons for great tasting Turkish food.

The staff at the Sumak are easily the best thing about this restaurant. We visited with a high-ranking executive from the former Obama administration, and we were forced to apologise to her for the quality of the food. None of us could finish our dishes. My Adana Kebab was stringy and chewy — the sheep it had been made from tasted as if it had just run a dozen marathons — and had nothing of the spiciness I expect from an Adana kebab. My wife had a rubbery chicken which also had marathon credentials. Seeing our faces, our guest stuck with her plate of hummus which was the most edible thing on the table.

We shared the larger set meal between 4 of us and there was SO much food! It was very busy on a Saturday night so very loud...The tables could do with being a little further apart. Great service though!
