Service was impeccable and quick. The foooodddd was greatest tatiest meal I have ever had outside of a house. The currys are made with such love you would only find at home. Cannot compliment my overall experience any further. A must try for anyone that hasn’t been! Forget all these commercial restaurants and take away…come to sultans in Bradford and you will forget all others I guarantee you!!!

The meat karahi (mutton) was well cooked and nicely spiced. The dhal (lentils) was of a decent consistency. However the portions were quite modest and dhal was too salty. The tandoori roti and pilau rice (with peas) was good. NB a cash only establishment 🤷‍♂️

Read reviews about this place and it is absolute gem of a find .. doesn’t look much upon entry but don’t be put off the food is absolutely amazing will return soon .. can’t wait to see new place when it moves in December too would def recommend best curry Iv ever had

This is no. 20 out of 450+ restaurants in Bradford area. I just can’t believe there are 19 establishments rated higher but there again we are all human The meal was superb - starter , main and dessert. All brilliant. Thanks Sultans!! Never disappointsNice portions too. Yummy

We had a birthday party ordered food we opted for meat masala chicken masala and chicken kharai it was the best curry Iv had in ages defo recommended also good portions and great prices 😋

I have used the restaurant since I moved from Manchester in 1988 when it was situated on Lumb Lane facing The West end Bar.Bar non this is the best curry house in Bradford by a country mile.Never changed its recipe at all in all them years.

My order take away was a lamb curry with chapaties .. they don’t do popadoms! Going in the place looked disgusting looking towards the kitchen un cleaned floor tackle seating.my meal when I got home we’ll over cooked meat very dark looking and dry ! not impressed. I’ll look else where

Sultan is a definate gem in the Bradford curry scene, with a major selling point being that its open from 12pm everyday except closed Monday (open Fridays from roughly 2.30pm). For those who like things such as cutlery, napkins and warm serving plates, this is not the place for you. However, the home cooked style of curry sets it apart from many other places. The flavours are rich and truly special, not massively spicy but definately delicious. Their chapattis are the freshest around.Come along and see 'Uncle' if you like your curry no frills but delicious.

Man I am telling you, get yourself here and do yourself a favour, the best curries in Yorkshire. This probably our fifth visit and the food has been always great.

Extremely helpful staff.Simple menu.lovely warm soft chappatis,superb lamb and chicken Karahi.Tasted like good quality Bradford curries used to taste like in the 1970s.Just the right amount of food at a very reasonable price.Location awkward but that's good as its only small and has plenty of local customers.First visit but won't be the last.

Home cooked, delicious curry. Nothing too fancy inside which adds to the authenticity of the place. Honestly the most tasty curry I’ve had. Amazing flavour and not too spicy.

the portions are far too small so you will need to order 2 lots - thats the downside. I think they could easily fill your lates more than they do but chose to save cash. Very busy place

Fantastisch eten daar vooral de lam karachi is daar heerlijk ,ben er voor het 2de jaar met een vriend geweest. Mr Habib is een erg goede en vriendelijke gastheer .Het restaurant zat ook vol met pakistaanse mensen wat een goed teken is.Bedankt meneer Habib voor de heerlijke culinaire ervaring.

It is not a posh restaurant, more a cafeteria but the food is 100%. My friend and I were the only white faces there, all other customers were Pakistani. What better recommendation do you want for a curry. Mr. Habib is the most wonderful friendly host. I found this place last year by chance and this year came especially from Holland just to eat here.

Excellent curry. Smallish portions but still worth it. Travel from manchester sample their dishes . The lamb handi is particularly good. The seekh kebabs are excellent also

Been here previously before it was refurbed and it was a gem then. It is nothing fancy, just straight forward simple with arguably some of the best home cooked authentic dishes in Yorkshire.

Got a recommendation from an Uber driver in Leeds so headed over to Bradford hoping for a great traditional curry. He said to make sure I ordered Asian style for full flavour which I did. My wife went for medium. Both were OK but nothing more. We found both a bit bland really and a bit underwhelming after the recommendation.

Old skool eatery with excellent food. This place offer some of the best currys in bradford. Portions are small but still worth going. Chappattis are fresh and perfectly cooked. Would recomend going earlier as it does get busy. Dont bother phoning they rarely answer the phone.

Went here with the family. Beautiful food. Best chicken khari I have had. I couldn’t fault any of the food and great prices and great service. Will be back many times.

Excellent authentic curry close to the football ground. Friendly greeting. Served really quickly (we were in a hurry).

This was recommended by a friend, the food was probably one of the best I’ve had in Bradford for quite a while. Very traditional much like back in the 80’s when I was 1st introduced to currys. There isn’t a great deal to choose on the menu but that won’t stop me returning. The guys there were friendly so all good.

Real desi (home) cooking. Lovely people work here and you can see them cooking as it’s a open kitchen.

Visited Sultan earlier this year with a friend. I was regular visitor to Sultan when it was in Lumb Lane in Bradford. It was nice to meet the owner after a long time. The menu had very limited choices and not much for vegetarians. My friend had khima and he was happy with the choice. The place is small and basic. I was disappointed as did get much choice for vegetarians

Following a recommendation by a Sheffield taxi driver! and very good ratings here we decided to give the Sultan restaurant a try. There is no restaurant car park only the side streets close by. On entering it is apparent that it is decently furnished with laminate flooring and modern tables and high backed upholstered seating; though it has certainly more of a small café feel rather than a restaurant. We were made welcome and told we could sit anywhere we liked. All food being cooked is on full display which in many ways is a positive but also left our clothes strongly smelling of curry afterwards. A negative was most of the unused tables still had dishes left over and even the table we sat at could have done with a wipe down. The menu is somewhat limited with a choice of 4-5 starters and 10 or so mains. No alcohol is permitted and a sign says cash payment only. I went for the chicken sheek kebabs whilst my wife went for chicken boti with 3 chapatis each; for mains I went for chicken karahi whilst my wife chose keema karahi. The starters soon arrived and were served on small metal plates with onion, tomato, cucumber and mint yoghurt. These were very tasty and enjoyable. However, our mains were served whilst we were still eating our starters which is one of my dislikes. The mains were served in metal dishes and were not particularly large portions. Both of these were good without being exceptional and each had a rather sweet taste about it. The chaphatis were fresh and very good. Prices are slightly higher too than comparable traditional curry houses in Bradford. Throughout or visit the staff were very welcoming and friendly. To summarise we both agreed it was a decent dining experience but it in our opinion it didn't quite live up to the recommendations.

Me and my dad are huge fans of this place and love that it's full of city fans before each game (Tues night matches are absolutely rammed but well worth the wait)

Very tasty food,but limited choice. The staff are friendly and polite, and the kitchen is open plan so the food preparation is in full view. Lots of sparkling clean stainless steel. Far too many staff for the size of the place (tiny, seats about 25) so I suspect that it's a family business. I was not very hungry the last time that I visited, so opted for the fish Karahi. I was expecting a fillet of fish with a sauce, instead I received a bowl full of beautifully cooked fish flakes in a tasty sauce. It was lovely but very filling. They open 12 until nine,we visited just before five and the only bread available was chapati. The restaurant is heavily frequented by Pakistani people which is rumoured to be a sure sign of excellent quality. I have been part of seven meals consumed here and not one of them was a disappointment. Everyone has enjoyed the food and the keen value prices. It is a traditional Bradford Curry House in Decor, more cafe than posh night out. Saying that it's comfortable clean and smart. Oh it's hidden behind a bus shelter so keep your eyes peeled!

On Manningham Lane there is a little curry house. In the curry house you'll find an open kitchen with the cooks all rattling the pans on the gas burners, with bowls of multi coloured spices just on eye level. They gentle dip in with their spoons and throw into the mix, stirring and moving the pans, all noise and clatter...

After a recommendation and reading lots of Trip advisor rave reviews, we left disappointed. Staff very friendly ,very busy Sunday evening, they gave us chairs to sit on after about 15 minutes of waiting in the middle of the very small diner. A customer waiting for his order even asked if we had visited before, and asked what we had ordered, we told him and he said it was a good choice and we'd love it. But, I'm afraid the food was very ordinary. We eat out for curry every Sunday, we love trying new places, you never know if it's gonna be your new fave. The Sultan won't miss our custom as it had plenty of regular loyal customers, they won't be adding us to there list I'm afraid.

So far the best curry I've had in Bradford. The food is fresh and delicious, staff are nice and helpful and the price is reasonable, although for me one portion is not enough and I normally order three meals for the two of us, but still cheaper than having two mains in some other restaurants. You will not be impressed by the atmosphere but will definitely love the food. You can also call and collect but they don't do delivery at the moment.

A short menu that has great dishes! Desi cooking at it’s best. Watch your meal being cooked. Pakora excellent. Fish curry is a favourite. Chicken tikka that is memorable. Friendly and welcoming.

Had a lovely meal here Sunday night with friends who were from out of town what you get here is straight forward Pakistani home cooked curries just like your mums the taste texture spice are just right my friends were impressed and loved it the curried chops are so tasty with thin home style chapattis simply lovely !

Visited Sultan after reading reviews and due to proximity to Valley Parade. What a day out! £4 for a family of four to watch Bradford beat Oxford 2-0 and then topped off with a fantastic meal - wonderful flavours and great service - fab for the family - and cost of meal meant that the whole day out came in at under £30! Highly recommend it!

Wow, this really is the place to eat if your dying for a nice hot spicy curry. you need to ask yourself why customers have given high ratings for this restaurant. Well it because the curry's are absolutely banging bro, innit !!! Try there chicken Jalfrezi and you will know what I mean. I like this place for its simplicity, not much ambience but the taste is what counts, and that is what the Chef is good at. lovely tasty curry's everytime all the time. no ill after effects.

Took my family to this place recommended by some mates and let me tell everyone this place is by far the best place I've been to for curry in the UK apart from home. Eveythings cooked fresh while you wait small menu no chips or anything but let me just say what the do sell is by far the best in bradistan you can not fault the food or the staff or the attitude of the staff amazing helpful service staff can't help enough and the owner will go out of his way to.meet and greet eveyone that's what you call good customer service I will be coming back was worth the 3 hour drive and experience that eveyone should try.

This food is AMAZING, We drive from home to collect, 20 mile round trip but it’s worth it! Excellent lamb/chicken/biryani and chutney..when u see a curry house packed with Pakistanis you know it’s a good eat! Deffo give it a try.

It's not a restaurant, but just accept it for what it is - an unpretentious Asian cafe, with food cooked in full view in street style. Limited menu and seating. Was very busy, and endearingly chaotic. However, good quick service, eager to please staff and perfectly good food. Probably the best chapatis I've ever had. Excellent value.

Ate here before watching Sunderland beat Bradford City. Again. Fantastic food and friendly staff. Although the menu looks fairly limited they will happily cook whichever curry you prefer. For example I like Chicken Rogan Josh. Which isn't on the menu but they prepared without problem. Very good it was too. All our party said they will happily go there again when we're in Bradford. Might be a while yet 'cos Bradford look Div 2 bound, sad to say.

I visit sultans on a weekly basis, no thrills restaurant where all the food is to die for!

Visited on the basis of a recommendation. Cafe style very clean. Starters onion bhajis and sheekh kebabs very tasty. Mains Keema Karhai and Keema Spinach also tasty and not to hot. Good sized portions but not overfacing. Finished with a rice pudding which was extremely good. Extremely good value. Will go again.

Probably the best chicken and meat masala on the planet. Been coming here for years and the taste and polite service and management haven’t failed from day one. Newly furbished and more seats makes it more family friendly and good atmosphere makes the whole experience worth it.. Absolutely great and consistent food every time.

We have gone many times, excellent curries in true Desi style cooked to order. Open style kitchen, great service. Consistently good. They also do "Chicken on the Bone" which seems to be rare in other curry houses

In my 56 years, I have eaten thousands of curries in hundreds of places. The Sultan might not be situated in Kensington Gardens, it might not be the fine dining you'd expect at the Ritz but I can tell you this was one of the tastiest meals I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

No frills place with very friendly service and Excellent food. Glad it was recommended to me. When we left I saw some 2018 awards in the wall and can see why.

The best curry by a country mile. I’m reading some of the reviews by asian names and it’s no surprise that’s nearly all say the food is amazing. I’m not bothered about a fancy chandelier or china plates as I want a curry. The food and service is beautiful. I happened to find an English person on trip advisor who said the food was vile, my response to that person called Andy is, ‘stick to the rose and crown Pal!’

What can I say about this restaurant: poor service, poor food, not clean. We were very disappointed and will not come back

Had a meal with a friend just wanted to taste a real home style curry like mums well this was spot on lovely lamb and a daal real simple home style cooked lovely taste served with thin chappatis if you want a real desi curry this is the place no fancy styling or location that’s all in the food .. well enjoyed it !

A canteen style eatery that is very basic. similar in style but smaller than Kashmir downstairs, also in Bradford.

Visited today having the lamb karahi and chicken karahi which was truly outstanding. Their chapatis are just so soft, thin and light... amazing!!

Great little find. Very basic canteen style restaurant but the food was lovely....really nice chicken Pakora. The menu is very small that is the only negative.

Must have passed this place hundreds of times but for whatever reason never thought to go, until I noticed the reviews on here.

As per usual the food here is out of this world. The chicken masala is the best in the country without doubt. The staff are very friendly. The service is very quick for taking away. No frills.

We really love the way they cook the food here - for example chicken cut small in tasty sauces. Chicken dupiaza and karahi are our favourites. The food arrives sizzling hot in metal dishes with wonderful chapattis. The starters are good especially the fish starter and the samosas. This isn't one of the big bold Bradford curry houses with fish tanks etc. (great though they are) - it looks more like a café from the outside. You'd come here for the terrific food at very reasonable prices and the friendly and efficient service.

Like so many other people who have left reviews here, we were originally drawn to the Sultan by its proximity to Valley Parade, home of The Bantams. "Let's give it a go and see what it's like" we said. That was the first of many visits, we now go every time there is a Bradford City evening game and we have never had a disappointing curry.The restaurant is basic but the food is excellent (I particularly like the keema and the fish curry), the chapattis are always freshly made, the staff are efficient and friendly. The only downside is that you can't park directly outside but it is worth finding a place up one of the side streets and having a couple of minutes walk.I would recommend anyone to try Sultan under one proviso - avoid 6pm on a midweek match day as I don't want to find that I can't get a table because of ******* Tripadvisor readers.

We chose this restaurant because of its proximity to Valley Parade - Bradford City F.C.'s stadium. What a great choice this was! My companion was gluten-free and the helpful chef was more than happy to chat about the ingredients and cooking arrangements. Both of us enjoyed superb curries prior to the match. For a pre-match curry in Bradford this is surely the best option.

For the connoisseur of proper curry you will LOVE this small restaurant. The chicken tikka Karachi is my favourite and the fish and chicken pakoras are also worth having as starters. Will keep coming back again and again.

We travelled cross country to visit The Hockney Galleries at Cartwright Hall and Salts Mill. Deliberately came here because of the reviews.The food speaks for itself. The chicken Karachi curry was very nice. Pakoras were good, but I would have preferred more ginger in the marinade. The meat samosas tasted good, but there was more potato than meat.Overall, value for money delicious food in simple surroundings.

I love going to this place for a curry and have recommended it to so many people! Although the inside is not as modern the food is spot on! Could have a curry everyday from here especially the lamb and chicken karai. Definitely try this place out you won't be disappointed at all

You might pass by Sultans on Manningham Lane without noticing it. A small cafe style restaurant that is tucked away on a row of shops that gives nothing away. I must however urge you to track this little gem down. You will receive a warm welcome from the staff and an unbelievable meal. The food produced there is the best I have tasted. Not just the currys themselves but the starters are also phenomenal and the icing on the cake is the quality of the chapattis which are served warm, fluffy and delicious as required.Call in and see Habib and the guys at Sultans​ when you get chance. You won't be disappointed.

Saw a recommendation for this spot on a Bradford City fans' site so myself and my spice fiend 85 year old father in law resolved to give it a go next time we had an evening fixture. It's only the proverbial 'long throw' from the ground so very conveniently placed. The Chicken Karahi seemed to be the speciality so it'd have been rude not too. The old guy is a lamb bloke and he thoroughly enjoyed his also.The place has that 'old world' curry house feel of my early 1970s Bradford experiences in the Kash and the Paradise. The menu is refreshingly short and straightforward, occupying only one side of A5 but what else do you need?? My chicken dish was fragrant and well flavoured and service was friendly and fast. Curry for two for under £14??? Fab! We'll be checking next season's fixtures for evening games and planning a return. Cheers guys!! Brilliant

Recommended to eat at Sultan Restaurant by work colleagues. We were not disappointed - really good quality curry along with freshly made chapaties. Made to feel very welcome by staff and service first rate. Fish and meat dishes eaten by all really good and would recommend and return.

Superb tastes in this small cafe. My first time here but was really impressed and would definitely recommend and return. I had the fish starter which was beautiful fresh haddock in a spicy batter - top quality fish. I had the Chicken Tikka Karahi for main and it was just wonderful. A beautiful chilled rice pudding for dessert completed amemorable meal for £15!Lovely friendly and informative owner and staff. One of the best curry meals I have enjoyed in years.

Driving through Bradford wanting a curry. Thought we'd try Sultan's having seen reviews on TA and on our way home. Meat samosas were excellent. Pastry crisp and not greasy with plenty of tasty filling. And you get two large ones per portion. Chicken Biriyani, one of their specials, was very tasty as was the Keema Karachi with chappattis. All freshly cooked and the keema dish was not swimming in ghee like some we've had before.If you have to drink alcohol with your curry a takeaway is the best option as they don't allow any alcohol in the cafe, not even BYO. Bottles of water are on the tables. If you haven't been before, it is easy to miss this place. Look for the red bus stop shelter which is right outside. At night in the rain it would be easy to drive past and not see it. Parking in side streets.

I have been an ardent fan of the Sweet Centre for many years but I think this could have just topped it (very similar taste). No nonsense place but the owner/chef was very polite and attentive. We ordered chicken pakoras and fish starter (masala style) plus chicken Karahi which is probably the best I have eaten in over 30 years. Seriously good.Not a place to go on a date or impress colleagues unless they are true curry fans. I have heard the locally community frequent the place often.Outstanding.

Excellent curries, been a few times here. Home style old school no nonsense cooking. I love the simplistic way they do things here. Very tasty Lamb and Mince dishes, with light and fluffy chappatis. Good value for money also.

How on earth anybody can class this food terrible shocks me. This food is definitely not for the beer louts or chicken tikka masala and korma eaters. This is very authentic beautiful food. I go to eat food and not somebody's fancy chandelier or carpet. I don't give a damn about the chairs or tables as I go to eat the food.
